Kodansha Kanji Learners' Dictionary phantom update

I have an iPhone app called the Kodansha Kanji Learners' Dictionary, which for some reason is no longer available in the App Store. I have version 1.0.4, and whenever I search for app updates, KKLD pops up with a note that the current version is 1.0.6. But there is no option to download the update, and when I click "download all free updates", I get the message, "the item you tried to buy is no longer available." This has been going on for a couple of months now. The publisher still lists the app on their website as one that they offer.
Clearly the item was pulled from the App Store for some reason, but it's a real pain to have it show up every time I update apps. I can't just click on "download all free updates" because it chokes on KKLD, so I have to click individually on each updated app.
So I have two questions:
1. What happened to this app in the App Store? Is it ever coming back?
2. Can I get it to stop showing up in the updates?

Interesting timing... I have the same problem with the same app and came here today to see if there was a work-around.
At present, I just use the App Store application on my phone to update apps as using iTunes trips up every time on the dictionary, then sync with my computer.
There seem to be other apps causing the same problem:

  • Phantom iPad apps, phantom updates!?

Hi all, one of my friendly colleagues cannot install updates to her iPad 2.
These apps do not appear on her iPad (note the screen capture where she searches unsuccessfully for the OverDrive app which appears on the "Updates" screen capture).
We've tried re-downloading these apps but they still won't appear on her iPad.
Yet these are listed on her App updates screen. Nothing happens when she presses "Update".
This is driving us crazy! Any help would be mucho appreciated.
    Mike

I think this is a pretty serious bug in iOS 6.x.  When an app makes a release for iOS 7.0-only, you get repeated prompts to install the updated app, but then you cannot and so your IPhone is going to annoy you FOREVER.
One solution is to go into iPhone > App Store > Updates > Purchased, and look for apps that say, "Update".  When you try to install the update, it will fail saying it's for iOS 7.0.  If you want, go ahead and delete that app from your phone and the annoying phantom updates reminders should disappear, but you won't have the apps, either.
I for one think that you should be able to turn off these idiotic reminder prompts on the home screen icon.  I don't want iOS 7.0, I don't want to search with Bing, I don't want to have micro-tiny fonrts thare are UNREADABLE (Settings Notifications), I don't care how many podcasts I have (Podcasts Notifications), and I don't want to see this bug with iOS update (App Store Notifications).

  • Phantom update(s)

Having problems with an update that keeps showing up on my User's App Store Adminitrator account that is for a program that is only on another Standard user's account.  When I attempt to download the update from the App Store, a Fly-Down window appears instructing me to log on to the Standard User's account in order to download the update.  But when I log on to the Standard User's account, there are NO App Store updates.  I have logged on to both App Store accounts and reset all notifications on both accounts, but I keep getting the update notification on my Admin account's App Store.
There is no "ignore this update" option on App Store of which I am aware.
    Please help!
    Brian

Routings for phantom items are just for costing purposes, and not for production. A>B1>B2>C1>C2 --> D is the right structure for a production order for finished goods A, so components B1,B2,C1,C2 will be assigned to operation steps of material A.  You will notice operations to build B and C do not appear in production order for A, so routing for material A should somehow include operations of B and C for actual costing.
Phantom items by definition are entities that cannot be placed on stock, so if you "un-phantomize" B and C, you will get planned orders for them and you will have to GR them into stock once done! If B and C are physical items that can be placed in stock, then you can un-phantomize them.
Hope this helps. We use lot of phantom items at our divisions, and SAP functionality for this is standard and works well.

  • IOS 8 phantom update

    I have a 16 GB iPhone 5 running iOS 8.0.2 (12A405)
    I have a 2 part question:
    1) I updated my iPhone using iTunes to 8.0.2. However, the Settings app still shows a red 1 in the icon on my home screen. When I go to Settings-General-Software Update, it tells me it is up to date. How can I get rid of the notification badge on my Settings app?
    2) I had heard that iOS can automatically download updates if able, is it possible it downloaded the update and the file is still on my phone, waiting to be installed? How can I find out if it did, and If so, how can I get rid of it?
Everything seems to work normally, but I'm pretty anal about my home screen and having that notification badge on there is making me nuts. :-) Any suggestions?

Hi Turn iPad off Connect lead to USB on your PC Press & hold power button down Don't let it go Plug lead into iPad don't let go of power button until PC sees ipad. Then wait for restore . Cheers Brian

  • Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services

Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services
Is there a way to update a common external dictionary used by many services without migrating each and every service that uses the dictionary.  I have updated the table in the database and the external dictionary in our Development Environment. The external dictionary is used by many services. When I migrate the changed service to TEST/STAGE/PROD environments (NOTE: the table has been updated in the TEST/STAGE/PROD Databases), only the changed service is having the external dictionary updated. All other services that use the same external dictionary are NOT updated. I have the following questions
Is it possible to migrate dictionaries so that all the services which are using that dictionary are updated?
If the first one is not possible, Is there any other way to update the external dictionary without migrating all the services that use dictionary?

dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers  but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine

  • KanPeke - Kanji drill exercises in Bash

I've been practicing Japanese and wanted to share what I wrote. It's a simple driller and there are tons of programs just like this and much better, but what I really wanted was to spend a long time on large practice sets, with dictionaries that make sense, a quiz where everything has to be typed out, and not much more.
I will write new dictionaries of around 300-400 characters as I go through all the kanji in principal radical order. The first dictionary has all the 1- and 2-stroke radical kanji, 274 in total. The reason for this order is that the principal radical is often easy to spot and when adding more dictionaries I want to make easy to differentiate sets in learned memory.

    Features
    - The answer is checked as you type. No need to press enter and when you make a mistake you will fail immediately.
    - Even long English words have to be typed like this (one typo is allowed), because I don't find multiple choice questions to help learning at all.
    - Mistaken kanji are repeated twice, after N and N*5 questions. You can change this amount at the beginning.
    - It asks to change font (useful for urxvt) and terminal size.
    - There are four exercises:
    1. Principal reading
I selected one reading that I found to occur most frequently in the example sentences of edict2 with this site. When in doubt I preferred the ON reading.
There are deliberately no hints at all in this mode. When you get it wrong you will see whether it was looking for the ON or KUN reading, each kanji only has one entry in this mode though. ON is in capitals, and KUN readings often have a dot and okurigana. The dot doesn't need to be typed.
    2. English meaning
This started out too being taken from edict2, but I changed almost all of the meanings to use the definitions in the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary. These favor a meaning that matches the kanji's use in compounds instead of its original meaning.
Because of that there are some kanji that have multiple meanings. They can be entered in any order.
Except for the first letter, you can make one mistake.
    3. All readings
This exercise is the hardest but you do get a lot of hints. Before my first run of this exercise I went with what seemed like the most useful compounds (one compound for every reading of a kanji), but the difficulty was way too high so I changed everything to use only compounds where all kanji are in the current or previous dictionaries, unless the specific reading of the kanji only occurs together with outside kanji.
I also used a few compounds with very common kanji, kanji that have the same reading as one that looks a lot like it in the current set (I actually prefer to use these), some words that I have heard a lot before, and some that just sounded fun.
Of course that means that several entries are barely ever used in Japanese. For compounds consider them stepping stones for later, and for useless readings try to group them together with kanji that sound the same.
    Apostrophe is converted to n.
I will leave English meanings and more useful compounds for later compound specific dictionaries.
    4. Stroke order
The more common way of typing out how a kanji is written is with principal radical and other radicals. They all have names and numbers and such.
As I was thinking of the easiest way to implement this, I came up with a new way to represent the kanji and that is by writing it out using "stroke-like" keyboard characters.
For example: 危 becomes ,7-/]l (the last one is an L)
I made a string like that for every kanji, with many revisions as I was making up more rules. If you question one, consult a site with stroke order, and if you still don't agree please let me know because I want these to feel as natural as possible.

Some news related to stroke order. I noticed that since yesterday jisho.org has new stroke order images including where the stroke starts, and this information is all from http://kanjivg.tagaini.net/
There is an xml archive on that site, but I'm not sure if it's parseable to the ascii lookalikes I used. It seems to group things together a bit too much relying on the drawing coordinates specified after the stroke character.
    For example 任
    I turned this into /|=-|-
    KanjiVG uses ㇒㇑㇒㇐㇑㇐
It's also more specific about small dots and how some strokes hook at the end. That last one is something I wanted to go into more detail in too, especially for ㇖ in for instance 亭, but there are only so many stroke-looking keys on the keyboard.
A comparison of that last kanji:
    My version: ,-|]-,--j
    KanjiVG: ㇑㇐㇑㇕㇐㇔㇖㇐㇚
Anyway I had fun writing the strokes of the first 300 kanji so I will continue to make up my own (keyboard-friendly) versions.
I'm still practicing the first set. As soon as I'm done I will make a quiz file of all 3-stroke radical kanji.
I also paved the way for different types of quiz files by putting parsing information inside the dictionary in the first 7 lines (see the new How To).
I was thinking of making a compound and a one- and two-kanji verb quiz that don't have kanji outside the current set. Getting these entries from edict2 is not that hard using grep, but you will probably get banned from Google trying to find compounds that don't return enough hits to be worth including in a list of 2000.
Even though there are many, it shouldn't be too hard to turn the edict2 entries into 3 quiz files so I might do it anyway even if it's just for some more exposure to the current set.

  • Mutating Error problem using audit trigger for UPDATE

I need to add 4 columns to all of my tables named:
    INSERT_BY
    INSERT_DATA
    UPDATE_BY
    UPDATE_DATE
I intend these to act as "inserted" and "last updated" audit trails within the table, as opposed to creating a new table and storing the audit information there. The insert columns appear to be easy, as I can just use a DEFAULT clause within the definition of the table. However when I attempted to write a (my first) trigger then I run into problems with mutating tables. Presumebly because I am attempting to change the table while the trigger is referencing it.
    create or replace trigger test_audit
    after update on dictionary
    begin
    update dictionary
    set update_by = user, update_date = sysdate
    where entity_id = :old.entity_id;
    end;
I thought I could maybe get around this by calling a procedure from inside the trigger. Something like:
create or replace procedure test_audit(vColumn in varchar2, vData in varchar2, vTable in varchar2) is
    -- vTable is table name
-- vColumn is PK of table
-- vData is value of PK in current row
    begin
    update vTable
    set update_by = user, update_date = sysdate
    where vColumn = vData;
    commit;
    end test_audit;
However I cannot use variable for table names. Will this mean I have to create a procedure for each table/trigger? Is there a way to reference the table name as a variable and keep this a generic procedure? Or is there an easier way to record the auditing UPDATE information for each changed row within the original table?
    Many thanks in advance......

    Will
this mean I have to create a procedure for each
table/trigger? I think you've answered that question already.
Is there a way to reference the table
name as a variable and keep this a generic procedure? Not that I'm aware of.
Or is there an easier way to record the auditing
UPDATE information for each changed row within the
original table?Well, there's the AUDIT feature.

  • ITunes - App Store - There are updates available that ain't available?

First of all, I'm starting to think that the iPhone ***** big time, but that's a whole other story...
So, here's my issue: Apparently there are updates to my applications available. So says iTunes and also the App Store app on the iPhone, both of them reporting the same number of apps available.
I'm quite sure that there was a button to "update all" on the iPhone on 2.0.1 and 2.0, but that seems to be missing? (but not the point anyway)
Then, in iTunes, the applications view tells me that there are updates available. When I click that link on the lower right that usually redirects to the update page, iTunes tells me that there are no updates available for my account?!
How can that be? Either there are or there ain't.
Is there a way to fix that problem? I would have updated the applications trough the iPhone, but as there are many (44) and I would have do update them one-by-one, I'd like to go an easier way...
I'm really patient, but I start to hate my iPhone. As it is now, it is just a ******* expensive piece of junk. :-((

I have fixed a similar issue in my iTunes. Here is my thoughts on why it happened and the fix.
I had recently added a second computer w/ iTunes with which my iPhone is now synching. I wanted to move my music library synching from work to home.
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I was synching:
    Info, Contacts
    Info, Calendar
    Ringtones
    Music
    Podcasts
    Video
    Applications
On the 2nd PC (@ Home) I began synching:
    Ringtones
    Music
    Video
Applications (this nicely caused all of my iPhone Applications to be copied to this PC, in case of a need for a restore from home)
After beginning synching on the 2nd PC (@ Home), I disabled synching on 1st PC of:
    Ringtones
    Music
    Video
Applications (This apparently caused the issue)
The issue with phantom updates was showing up on the 1st PC (@ Work), but I was not synching Applications here. Apparently, I had updated some Applications from the 2nd PC (@ Home) and iTunes detected this and saw a need to show that my iTunes Applications needed updating. Something not in synch between iPhone - iTunes - App Store I believe.
    The Fix:
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I enabled synching of Applications and then performed a synch. The phantom updates went away. I noted during the synch that my iPhone apparently updated some of the applications in my iTunes library.
I hope this helps or enlightens others having this difficulty.

  • "Updates" for app never purchased!

    - In the MAS on my machine (10.6.7) I have a red badge showing on the MAS icon in the dock.
    - I click and open the MAS, and it tells me I have "Updates".
    - However, the update is for the "Twitter" app from Twitter, Inc (v.2.1), which I have never used/owned/downloaded EVER.
So how can i possibly have an update for it?!
(NB I tried signing-out, and then back in, but still shows the phantom update!)
    Bug?
[I also notice that most of the apps I had before the MAS was released, that originally showed as "Installed" in the MAS soon after originally downloading it, are now showing as the price; even though they are the exact same point versions I already have ...bug 2?]

  • Updating inside badi

    Hello.
Prompt, please, who collided: inside of a method badi would like to make updating of data in the table of the dictionary. Updating I confirm (commit work and wait), but it does not occur. Whether is what or feature for updating inside badi? In advance thanks, Anton.

    Hi,
you should never issue COMMIT from within the BADI, because the calling transaction will do the COMMIT at thge right time after completion of all critical updates.
Note: Your COMMIT will commit everything to the database, not only your database updates.
If you do update/insert, this takes effect inside the LUW immediately but can not be ssen from outside before the transaction commits all pending database requests.
If you can't see your data in the database after the transaction is completed successfully, you either never updated the database or you tried to modify a SAP standard table which is later accessed (and modified) by the tranaction.
If you want to modify SAP standard data, find a BADI with internal tables in the interface. Modify the internal tables and let the transaction write them to the database. Update/Insert should be done only for Z-tables.
    Regards,
    Clemens

  • Application updates issue after upgrading to 8.1

After upgrading to iTunes 8.1 I've got some ghost application updates indication.
    Look at the screenshot: http://yfrog.com/0bitunes81bugp
Installing new applications doesn't do anything, installing new updates doesn't do anything either. However, when I deleted some junk app, it decreased the phantom updates counter by 1. So I guess that if I delete all the applications (or guess those 7 that cause it) and then re-download them, then all will be fixed, but that's some inconvenient hack.
Does anyone have a better solution?

Oh, thanks for all the support, I've found the cause and now I'm perfectly OK.
But, oh, Apple is screwed once again. I am not surprised at all. Find better programmers, **** you! And you should improve your customer support!

  • I Phone 5 issuing false update notice

Iphone 5 indicates that I have 2 apps that need updating.  But, when I attempt to do so the it indicates all apps are up to date and the "2" disappears from the ICON.  This is a reaccurring issue.

These phantom App updates have been going on since iOS 7 was released in Sept. It seems to affect users who are still on iOS 6 (I am affected on my iOS 6 devices). It's likely on Apple's end but it seems to be a change that iOS 7 resolves. I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 yesterday and am no longer seeing the phantom updates on it. My iPads are still on iOS 6.1.3 and still have the phantom updates. You can try to sign out of your Apple ID, then reset the device, then sign back in and see if it resolves the issue. It might help but if the issue's is on Apple's end and iOS 7 corrects it (as it did on my iPhone 5), it'll likely hang around until it's corrected by them (if iOS 7 fixes it, this will likely be the only fix) or just live with it if you want to stay on iOS 6.
    Sign out of Apple ID
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>(tap your Apple ID)>Sign Out
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
    Sing in to Apple ID
    Settings>iTunes & App Store(enter your credentials)> Sign In
