Kontakt Player In Sibelius

Hello, this is kind of off topic, but I didn't know where else to ask, and there are a million geniuses posting on this forum. I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11, Sibelius 4, East West Silver Orchestral Bundle, and I also have Kontakt Player, which I bought independently from Sibelius. Is there anyway I can use sounds from East West or Kontakt player sample librarys for playback in Sibelius 4? Any comments or leads will be much appreciated.

Maybe there is a way to Bus information via Logic Pro 7? (which I also have)

  • How to send multiple midi channels to a single Kontakt Player?

I can send any channel to a Kontakt Player. But only 1 channel at a time. When I have 2 tracks dedicated a single Kontakt Player how do I assign them to different channels so that the Kontakt player responds multi-timbrally?
I can't believe that I cannot figure this out. It's a little embarrasing.

create multiple tracks that use same instrument. After you create your 1st software instrument track you can create more tracks that use that same instrument, from the track menu. Select, "New with same channel strip/instrument. you can create as many as you like.
But since they are using the same channel strip, you will have to mute and un-mute differently because muting one mutes all, so instead of muting the track itself, mute the region on a track using the mute tool.

  • Q about using Kontakt player

I'm a new user to the Kontakt player, which came with Garritan's Personal Orchestra, and I have a question about how the Kontakt player is generally used in Logic.
It seems the optimal way of using it is to assign the Kontakt Player to an Audio Instrument, and then have multiple tracks assigned to that Audio Instrument, each sending on different MIDI channels. Is that right?
The minor thing I don't like about this is that I can't use different track icons in the Arrange window, since track icons seem to be attached to the Audio Instrument. I rather like seeing my orchestra laid out with pictures.
So.. is this the right way of using it, or would there be too much overhead in bringing in a separate instance of the Kontakt Player for each track?
    Thanks,
    Steven

Just to clarify things... Velocity is not the same as Volume.
Volume is controlled via midi controller #7, Velocity is another type of midi control message, and is input with each note you play, (the value zero for velocity is like having volume at zero, but they are two different types of messages, velocity increases as you play harder, the max value for velocity is 127.
When using multi-instruments in logic, (i.e. Kontakt) due to Logic's midi implentation, it uses controller #7 for the entire audio instrument, hence all your multi midi parts move together when you move contoller #7 (Volume controller). One way around this is to use the expression controller, which is controller #11, instead of controller #7 to independently control the volume of each midi part.

  • Please help if you know anything about Kontakt player 3.0.5, GPO & FCH?!

Hi There. I am desperate for a solution as NI doesn't seem to be responding to my requests for help and support. Can anyone maybe offer any assistance?
I installed Garritan Personal Orchestra & First Call Horns and then installed Kontakt Player 3.0.5 (Mac Pro 4-core 2.66Ghz, Mac OS X.5.8 ) and it finally picked up these instruments in Logic Pro 8.0.2.
Soon after I started noticing that if I load a song up with some instances of the Kontakt player 3 (GPO and or FCH loads into Kontakt player 3) my sample banks come up as DEMO's, asking me to activate the product in-order for it to remove the 30 min time limit the demo mode imposes.
It does this even though all my soft synths are activated and is clearly indicated so in the NI service centre program.
Can anyone out there please help me or give me advice? I really need my soft synths that run inside Kontakt player 3 to STOP showing up as demo's.
Also does anyone know why NI is not answering me? Are they in the habit of ignoring their clients?
Thanks so much for any assistance given.

No I have my own iPhone iPad and MacBook  so everything is set up on devices that are mine and as far as I know I never connected to anyone else's device and logged with my apple ID.  But are you saying it is possible for someone to have obtained my apple ID and send an iMessage from their device with my contact information so it looks like it came directly from me?  It's crazy I looked down at my iPhone and saw this message had just been sent that I did not type or send

  • LOgic Pro X and Kontakt Player 5

    hello !
anyone having CPU spikes while using Kontakt Player 5 ( latest version ) and Logic Pro X ( latest version ) ?
I'm on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5
I read on the Vi-Control forum that the new Kontakt player doesn't work well on Mountain Lion but would works better on Maverick.. which i find odd .
The CPU spikes prevent playback and I need to re-initialize CoreAudio from the audio preferences in Logic Pro X.
Once it's re-initialize , then i can get playback .. until I quit Logic .. then I need to go through this when Logic is re-booted
    thanks for your time !

Both current version of K5 Player and the full K5 itself (v5.3.0) have basically the same spiking issue in both 10.8 and 10.9 at this time... and under various DAWs, not just Logic... I've found there is very little difference in terms of this spiking issue between the two OS X versions...
NI are aware of this issue and are, apparently, working on a fix...
However, as a work around and you found out yourself...  you can just re-initialize your CoreAudio from within Logic and that usually fixes it for a lengthy period of time... or until you restart Logic...

  • How to make Kontakt player 5 work with Logic Pro X ?

I tried adding a library but it keeps showing desired file couldnt be loaded ! Is it something to do with 64 bit or 32 bit may be ? Someone knows how to get me out of it and successfully use kontakt libraries here in PRO X ?

No problems with Kontakt 5.3.0 here.. All works as normal with LPX.  Both the Player and the Full versions of K5 are available as a 64bit AU plugin so no issues with that and LPX
    So...
Make sure you are using the latest version of the K5 Player...  thiough the fact you can access it within LPX tells me that's not the problem
    Therefore note:
Not all libraries will work with the Player version however but that is by design...
Also not all libraries can be loaded in as a Library to the Library list but instead must be loaded via the K5 file manager...
So, what libraries are you trying to use with the Player version of K5?
What is the exact error msg you are getting when to attempt to add a library to K5

  • Sax Brothers Kontakt Player CC mappings re-assigned each time re-start Mainstage

Using Mainstage 2.0 with two USB MIDI devices attached:
    * MIDI2USB cable connected to Korg N1 with sustain + expression pedal
    * EWI USB breath controller
I use both keyboard & breath control patches as needed.
When using with Kontakt 5 player and "The Sax Brothers" plugins each time I re-start MainStage the breath control stops working on the patches. Opening up the settings for each patch, the Kontakt 5 settings, I can see the CC mapping is re-assigned
EXPRS is getting mapped to CC11, instead of CC2 ( breath controller.)
IF I reset it, it will work fine for the duration of having MainStage open, even switching back and forth between other patches. Saving the settings however, it is always getting reset.
Is there a way I can stop this remapping ocurring?
    Some other points:
    * When first adding the Software Instrument Track with Kontakt 5, the setting is fine. It is only after re-starting Mainstage it's not
    * The default if I use Kontakt 5 standalone is to use CC2 breath controll, so suspect Mainstage is somehow changing this

Ok I already figured out how to do this. For those who have a similar issue:
    1. Select your patch in Patch List (i.e. Alto Sax)
    2. In Channel Strips select your Software Instrument Track (i.e. Kontakt 5)
    3. In Software Instrument Channel Strip Inspector select MIDI Input tab
    4. Change Controllers Input to Breath (2) and leave Output as Expression (11)
Saving these settings, patches now work correctly even after restarting.

  • Macbook Pro 15" + DROBO FW800 + KONTAKT PLAYER?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm use my Macbook mostly for preproduction and programming.
I want to purchase Kontakt Komplete and East/West Quantum Symphony Platinum. Each of these requires about 100GB of space to host the instruments on your hard drive, which is what I want (I figure i won't utilise the packages completely if I don't have instant access to all of their features.
This also means that I should start preparing for a work-around solution for future purchases as well, given that I'm probably going to want more instruments and my first purchase of a Mac Pro will only occur in about two years, realistically.
What I was thinking was this:
DROBO 4 Hard Drive with 3 x 1 TB Hard Drives - These would be Western Digital Caviar Black Firewire 800 Drives (7200RPM):
1 Hard Drive I use for my Instrument Libraries
1 Hard Drive I use for storage
1 Hard Drive for back up (duplicate of storage)
My current workflow is that I use a small 120GB partition for production (the other 250GB is for the System) - this partition is ONLY for Logic, so that searching is easier for the processor. As soon as that partition gets a bit full, I copy the entire drive to a hard drive, duplicate that and then format - ready to start from fresh. I also run Time Machine.
    So my question is this:
Would that drive mentioned above be able to handle the libraries in real time? i.e. could I have all of my instruments stored on an external hard drive and work seamlessly?
    Thanks for your help!
    James

Even if you had the space on your internal drive, it could never cope with EWSO platinum if you started opening up more than a few instruments, so external is the way to go.
I am unfamiliar with the drive setup you are talking about, but I take it that all of the drives would be sharing a single FW800 port... all your VI samples, audio tracks etc.
Hmm. FW800 is good, but have you investigated eSATA? On my MBP there is a slot which can accommodate an eSATA card, which would give you throughput nearly matching an internal SATA drive, somewhere in the order of 3mbs. Now we're talking. Even on my MacPro, hard drive speed became an issue with a lot of orchestral VI's open, so I'd be looking into it a bit more, and asking a few more questions. Ideally from someone who knows more than me.

  • SbLive! Value Devices - Midi playback differen

    Creative SbLi've! Value.
    Have available devices:
    . SbLi've! SynthA(DCEO) General MIDI
    2. SbLi've! SynthB(DCEO) General MIDI
    3. SbLi've! SWSynth (DCEO) General MIDI
    4. SbLi've! MIDI Port (DCEO) General MIDI
    5. Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
    6. Kontakt Player Silver (Sibelius 3 music notation program)
All test OK for playback. But SynthA (item ) is much louder than the others. Also playing MIDI scores SynthA does NOT read some text marks, like the volume (ff, pp) instead plays volume uniformly loud ignoring volume (velocity) notations but accepts for ex. tempo notation.
What is the difference between the devices (for example SynthA vs. SynthB)? Where can I find a good explanation how these devices suppose to work, how SbLi've reads Midi instructions in scores etc.
In playing Midi scores I wish to use my own soundfonts (sf2) which are generated by downloading existing ones and modifying them. Is there a limit for their size in SbLi've! Value board?

I have an SB Audigy (not the Value edition); and I have the same available MIDI devices (except the 'Kontakt Player', which is probably a software synthesizer that you installed)
I think the SynthA and SynthB should behave similarly because you can select one or the other (in SB AudioHQ - SoundFont - Options - Soundfont Device). I haven't been playing MIDI files for sometime, and it's good you mentioned that it doesn't read some text marks (I didn't know about this... but I don't compose MIDI music... so it doesn't matter that much to me)
The SWSynth is Creative's software synthesizer, I suppose (the SynthA and SynthB are hardware synthesizers -- check them using DXDiag.exe which will list these devices and their capabilities).
MIDI port is if you have a MIDI device and cables connected to the MIDI port (I don't have a MIDI keyboard so I'm guessing...)
The MS Software Synthesizer is Microsoft's DLS Software Synthesizer... and I think it occupies some amount of memory and CPU time (ie. probably more than if using Creative's built-in synthesizers). It's possible that Microsoft's synthesizer is the de facto synthesizer for playing sound (esp. for other sound cards that don't have a MIDI hardware wavetable synthesizer).
Ok, these comments from an ordinary SB Audigy user. :-)

  • Kontakt 2 player help please...

    Hi,
I just purchased the soprano sax promotion sale on Chris Hein horns vol. 1.5 from SoundsonDemand.com, and also the Steel Guitar (From the Chris Hein Guitars). This is not the entire library--just individual instruments and samples. Just having a few installation problems. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
I didn't have Kontakt 2 before I purchased either the soprano sax or the Steel Guitar, but when I bought the steel guitar, Kontakt 2 was included. The basic problem is: When I try to load the guitar samples the Kontakt says the files are missing. It takes a few minutes and finds them, but I can't figure out what the correct folder would be to put the samples in. Also, I can't get Kontakt to load the soprano sax. I put the soprano sax samples under the guitar instrument samples, and when I try to load them, Kontakt says: The patch you're trying to load cannot be used with this application. What location do I put the folders/samples to get Kontakt to play them? I currently have them under Macintosh HD: Users: Mattglickstein:Library:Application Support: Native Instruments: Kontakt 2 Library: Best Service: Chris Hein--Guitars:Instruments And what is the correct way to open them from the Kontakt 2 player? Sorry--I'm new at this and need lots of help.
Other tiny issues: The g#0 (slide mode) and f1 keyswitches don't show up on the steel guitar for some reason...can't figure out why this is.
If anyone is familiar with either Chris Hein guitars/horns or the way Kontakt 2 works, it would be great to hear some advice. I'm very confused!
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi...
I was tested Kontakt player 2... and also Crish hein horn...
    Kontakt 2 is included?
you got a great deal because Kontakt 2 very good and works fine with Logic.
on Kontakt2 try to use floder dearching function...
But you are a legit crisHein owner so you will be able to ask for Original Support Service...
Maybe you just need to update your Kontakt2 and Player to the leates version!!!
if they are only PPC apps... you nned Universal binary update!
    ask to your seller!

  • East West Symphonic Gold Bundle not loading in Kontakt 2.2.2 player

    Hi to all--
I posted this within another thread, but since it hasn't been answered, and might have been a little off the topic of that thread, I thought I might try a new thread.
I've installed the EWQL Symphonic Gold bundle, as directed, and run the stand-alone player once and closed it, also as directed in forum posts and the Soundsonline website. But I'm not able to then load sounds into the Kontakt player as a plug-in within LP8, as is necessary since Intel Macs can't run the Kompakt player like every other kind of computer, but only Kontakt. I'm running Kontakt 2.2.2.001, so it's beyond the minimum version necessary for the EWQL according to what their documentation says.
Just to make sure I'm giving y'all lots of info so maybe you can help, I'll give you the steps I'm doing as concisely as possible.
In a new Logic Arrange window, I'm creating a new stereo Software Instrument track. In the Mixer, I navigate to Kontakt 2 so that it comes up in the I/O button, then double-click so the Kontakt control panel comes up. So far so good. Then, under "load/save" on the Kontakt panel, I navigate to samples via the Pro XP Library Folder, to "instruments" sub-folder, then through instrument families to individual samples. But when I select and hit the "choose" button, I get the following error message: "KontaktPlayer2-The patch you're trying to load cannot be used with this application."
I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong, but hopefully whatever it is is simple to fix. Maybe I'll just go "duhh" when a kind soul tells me what's going on.
    Thanks in advance to all!
    later,
    John

    Thanks, Bee Jay and Jim!
Bee Jay, you are quite right that it's not a Logic problem. I just thought I might get a helpful response from someone here, since NI is very weird and squirrely.
I finally had a moderator get back to me on the Soundsonline Forum, who told me the root of the problem: I have been trying to use the Kontakt 2.2.2 PLAYER, not the program itself, and it's the latter that is required. Hmmm. That was not made clear to me when I bought the East-West collection. But maybe my fault for not knowing the difference between program and player? Anyway, I'm on the hook for an upgrade from the Kontakt player to a full version of Kontakt 3, and I just have to suck it up. Boo hoo hoo, right? ;>)

  • Logic Express - Garritan Personal Orchestra - Kontact player 2

Nutshell: I have Garritan Personal Orchestra and Kontakt Player 2 (also Sibelius 5). I want to be able to lay down live tracks using my USB MIDI keyboard. I have tried Audacity but it won't work - although it does on Windows!
Would Logic Express allow me to do just this? ie import & use not just the sounds that come with it but the Garritan sounds or the NI instruments that come with Sibelius 5.
    Thanks
    Nick

ok, sussed it! install Garritan with the Audio Units option (go to Custom install)
Then, restart your mac... From Logic Express, start a new track (Software Instrument) and select it. From the left-hand mixer line click the blank grey box underneath I/O and select AU Instruments -> Native Instruments -> Kontact Player 2

  • Sibelius in Logic Pro 8

is there a way to import a Sibelius score into Logic and have it play there?

You'd really only be able to do it with exporting Sibelius as MIDI, which then can be opened in Logic. It's exactly what I've started doing. I was using Sibelius 4, but soon went to Sibelius 5. This has huge advantages in that since you can score more or less to the instruments you'll be using in Logic, when you export Sibelius will ask you if it's going to end up with those virtual instruments in your DAW. When you tell it yes, it makes for a much easier transition regarding the articulations, etc., that you have written in the score.
This means, though, that you would only be able to use third party AU instruments, not the ones built into Logic, for this. You could. though, write to the Kontakt 2 player and hope for the best with the instruments of Logic, you should be alright. I think Logic can open the Kontakt player as well, but it sounds a little artificial to me.
I only got this system up and running a few weeks ago, and I really am no expert. And Sibelius 5 irritates me how long it takes to boot up. Other than that, though, I think it's gonna work. The notation in Logic was not doing it for me, I realized that I was going to have to write crude notation representing MIDI in it, and later work out the details of the performance in the MIDI edit window, and then make it a song in another window... I soon decided to go back to Sibelius.
Hope this was helpful, good luck!

  • LE7 / Kontakt 2

I've recently bought Kontakt 2 & Kontakt Experience to use with LE7, but cpu drain is crippling my PB.
Am thinking of buying desktop, not sure whether to go for new iMac G5 2ghz or sell a limb & buy Powermac G5 dual 2.3ghz.
Is anyone out there running LE7 & Kontakt 2 on an iMac G5? If so, how is it performing?

In the meantime I downloaded the free Kontakt player. Still - I have no ideas how to get Kontakt 2 working again on Snow Leopard, any suggestion will be appreciated!
