Korean Character Set display (Fonts?)

I am attempting to display data with a mixed set of characters that include Korean characters. The American alphabetics are displaying clearly, but the Korean characters are garbled. Is this a matter of font availability or is there a conversion issue occuring?

Hi ,
ksheeraj, Thanks for ur reply.
I got ur point.
But the entire website is in korean language.
All the datas has to posted and populated in korean language.The insert of korean characters into the database is fine.The database accepts the korean encoding and gets stored properly.
I am getting problem, in dynamically generated pages, and problem while loading the database values into a combo box like that.
Kindly help me in fixing the problem.
Thanks....

  • Korean character set

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem like,
    My project uses the J2EE Application Model,
    The problem is , if i made a entry to the site(project) in korean character set, the characterset was broken and gets stored into the database.I am using the korean characterset in the Oracle 8i.I guess there should be no problem with the database.The problem is with the parsing of characters by java applications.
    Kindly advise me on the above....

  • Wrong character set display in IE?

    Hi,

    I would like to use different character encoding then unicode, because I don't see the right fonts.
    Can I change character encoding, or what can I do to get the right fonts?
    Any ideas?

  • Embed full character set with Font Symbol

    I'm dealing with a problem that's been mentioned here on the
    forums before, but never really been resolved (or not that I can
    find). My project uses a series of TextFormats and Dynamic
    Textfields created with the "createTextField" method. I'm trying to
    make the document support multiple languages (26 to be exact),
    however, I've hit the problem that occurs when you go to your
    library, and embed a new font (and assign it a link ID)- It doesn't
    seem to embed all characters of the font-set.
    Is there something that can be done to alter this? or trick
    flash into embedding the full characters? Somebody mentioned it
    only embeds the characterset of the current language selected on
    your OS, is that the case? I'm using Flash 8 Pro with WinXP SP1.
    Assistance would be greatly appreciated with this
    one...

    Hi,
    Did you find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem.
    I have a font which I bought as it boasted to contain Central
    European characters, and indeed it does. However when I create a
    font symbol they don't seem to be included.
    Grateful for any assistance.

  • UTL_MAIL shows character set in email client

    Hello,
    Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.0
    OS: Red Had Enterprise Linux (version 3)
    I'm trying to use the UTL_MAIL package to send an email and the actual mail sending works fine. However on the client side the database character set (WE8ISO8859P1) is displayed in the "From:" field and it's also displayed in the "Subject:" field (along with the actual email address/subject). Can someone please let me know why this is happening and how I fix it?
    The code I use is:
    <font face="Courier New" size="2">
    <font color = "maroon">exec</font> <font color = "maroon">utl_mail</font><font color = "silver">.</font><font color = "maroon">send</font><font color = "maroon">(</font> <font color = "maroon">sender</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font> <font color = "red">'&quot;Database Check&quot; <[email protected]>'</font><font color = "silver">,</font>
    <font color = "maroon">recipients</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font> <font color = "red">'&quot;Oracle DBA&quot; <[email protected]>'</font><font color = "silver">,</font> <font color = "maroon">
    <br>subject</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font><font color = "red">'test email subject'</font><font color = "silver">,</font> <font color = "maroon">
    <br>message</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font> <font color = "red">'message body text'</font><font color = "silver">,</font> <font color = "maroon">
    <br>mime_type</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font><font color = "red">'text/plain charset=us-ascii;'</font><font color = "maroon">)</font><font color = "silver">;</font>
    </font>
    Here's a screenshot of how the email appears on the client-side (Novell GroupWise. Outlook 2007 also displays it the same way). Please note I've blanked out the recipients name (which is displayed correctly, without the character set).
    http://oi53.tinypic.com/25usgme.jpg
    So why is the character set displayed? I've tried various combinations of using double-quotes and single quotes to no avail. Also the email is displayed perfectly fine if I use the old UTL_SMTP package!
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Can you post the raw e-mail received by the Groupwise/Outlook client? Please use the tag as prefix and suffix for the contents, in order to prevent the pre-formatted text from being formatted by Jives.

  • Ora-12704: character set mismatch

    I'm trying to insert string data into a nvarchar2 column using jdbc and I keep getting the error, ora-12704: character set mismatch. How do I avoid this without using the translate function? I believe my nls variables are all set correctly. Our software will eventually be in Korean.

    Both my database and national character sets are UTF8.
    We are trying to design a system
    that supports internationalization. Majority
    of our customers will be using English but we do have Korean customers. All their data will be in korean. It is my understanding (and I could be wrong) that the korean character set is varying multi-byte. This understanding has lead me to believe I need to define my "character" columns as nchar and nvarchar2. Is this assumption wrong?
    Also, my nls_lang environment variable is AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. I'm currently running Oracle 8.1.6. We have received 8.1.7 but I haven't upgraded yet.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to include different Character Sets in Flex AIR project

    Hi All,
    Flex, AIR(Desktop) Project.
    PROBLEM Scenario:
    My Application needs a path from Windows registry, So I am launching a .cmd file using Native Process API.
    As a result I get a text file with the path.
    So, everything works fine(reading/writing), but if the path contains different languages like Korean, Chinese then the READING OPERATION IS FAILED only when I install the application. It works fine while debugging.
    (By failing I mean its not getting the characters, its printing some junk values.)
    I am using readMultibyte & writeMultibyte APIs, and I am assiging the character set dynamically as per the OS language. (Which is Enslish in current scenario)
    FINDING:
    I installed Windows with Korean Language on a system, so now if I build the .exe on this machine then it works fine. So, i guess its not able to get the Korean Character set from the English OS, thats why it failed in earlier case.
    Is there any way to include different character sets in a Flex project?
    Regards,
    Mayank

    Some loaded SWFs may not be compatible with Flex.  Try making a simpler SWF (like one that just draws a circle where you click) and see if it can be loaded and interacted with.

  • How do you define which character set gets embedded with a font embedded in the library (i.e. Korean)?

    I have project that uses a shared fonts. The fonts are all
    contained in a single swf ("fonts.swf"), are embedded in that swf's
    library and are set to export for actionscript and runtime sharing.
    The text in the project is dynamic and is loaded in from
    external XML files. The text is formatted via styles contained in a
    CSS object.
    This project needs to be localized into 20 or so different
    languages.
    Everything works great with one exception: I can’t
    figure out how to set which character set gets exported for runtime
    sharing. i.e. I want to create a fonts.swf that contains Korean
    characters, change the XML based text to Korean and have the text
    display correctly.
    I’ve tried changing the language of my OS (WinXP) and
    re-exporting but that doesn’t work correctly. I’ve also
    tried adding substitute font keys to the registry (at:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes) as outlined here:
    http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000211.php
    but the fonts I added did not show up in Flash's font menue.
    I’ve also tried the method outlined here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16275
    to no avail.
    I know there must be a simple solution that will allow me to
    embed language specific character sets for the fonts embedded in
    the library but I have yet to discover what it is.
    Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Jim,
    I know that it is easy to specify the language you want to
    use when setting the embed font properties for a specific text
    field but my project has hundreds of text fields and I'm setting
    the font globally by referencing the font symbols in a single swf.
    I have looked at the info you've pointed out but wasn't
    helped by it. What I'd like to be able to do is to tell Flash to
    embed a language specific character-set for the font symbols in the
    library. It currently is only embedding Latin characters even
    though I know the fonts specified contains characters for other
    languages.
    For example. I have a font symbol in the libary named
    "Font1". When I look at its properties I can see it is spcified as
    Tahoma. I know the Tahoma font on my system contains the characters
    for Korean but when I compile the swf it only contains Latin
    characters (gylphs) - this corresponds to the language of my OS (US
    English). I want to know how to tell Flash to embedd the Korean
    language charaters rather than or as well as the Latin characters
    for any given FONT SYMBOL. If I could do that, then, when I enter
    Korean text into my XML files the correct characters will be
    available to Flash. As it is now, the characters are not available
    and thus the text doesn' t display.
    Make sense?
    Many thanks,
    Mike

  • Displaying multiple asian character sets?

    Hi all,
    Just wondering is there anyway to display multiple asian keysets in a java application?
    Right now I can set the locale to say Chinese with the command line property:
    -Duser.language=zh
    I could do the same with Japanese or Korean. But I was wondering is there anyway to display all these character sets in the same program? Would I have to set the JTextFields individually to the relevant fonts so i can see the characters? E.g. if the user wants to input Chinese, all JTextFields are set to Simsun. Same for other character sets?
    thanks,
    J

    Hi Justin,
    As for myself, I used Robot class on Win Xp to switch between input languages in a form (French/Japanese). That works well but requires that you map manually each language to a key combination a Robot can emule.
    I hope that could be useful,

  • Do you have any fonts with the Latin Extended Additional character set?

    I would like to know what fonts in the Adobe catalog support the Latin Extended Additional character set and/or display all of the following diacritics & characters:
    Macrons: ā  ī ū
    Dot below: ṭ ḍ ṇ ḷ ṃ
    Dot above: ṅ
    Tilde: ñ
    Thanks,
    MZ

    All those characters seem to be included in the Adobe Latin 4 character set.
    I believe that currently the only families that support the characters you're looking for are:
    Source Sans Pro
    Hypatia Sans Pro
    Trajan Pro 3
    Trajan Sans Pro
    Adobe Text Pro

  • Lync in combination with Plantronics P540-M: Display changes to logographic character set

    Hello,
    I've recently started to use Lync on my iMac 21,5" from 2011. Now the program itself works fine until i connect a Plantronics P540-M usb phone. Lynn keeps operating as it should apart from the fact that
    the display on the Plantronics phone changes to some sort of asian character set. I'm using Lync version 14.0.10.
    Does anyone recognise this problem and have a solution for this?
    With kind regards,
    Patrick van Kleeff
    Windesheim University of Applied Sciences

    Language is passed to phone from Lync.
    Try this:
    Go to System Preferences – Available from the Apple menu.
    Click on Language & Region – It is the flag icon in the top row of icons.
    Make sure English is the primary language. If another language is listed, remove it.
    Reboot
    Launch Lync
    If that does not work try this:
    Change the language from "English-Primary" to "English-US"
    Reboot
    Go back into Settings, Language & Region
    Change the language back to "English-Primary"
    Reboot
    Launch Lync

  • Website not displaying correctly. Firefox is changing the character set to Western (ISO-8859-1) automatically.

    Normally I have set Firefox (or it's set by default) to Character Set Unicode (UTF-8) and everything displays perfectly. I've never had a problem before.
    Now however, whenever I upload my own website, for some bizarre reason on that particular tab (and only that tab) the Character Set is changed over to Western (ISO-8859-1) and then there's a few characters within my site that do not display correctly, namely apostrophes and hypens.
    It definitely isn't my software (Serif WebPlus X4) because the page displays correctly in every other browser. Plus it displays correctly in Firefox if I change the Character set back to Unicode.
    PS The site is a work in progress

    That happens because the server sends a content-type (<b>text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1</b>) via the HTTP response headers and in that case that content type prevails. The page code is saved with an UTF-8 byte order mark () that you see in this case.

  • Font character set

    For years I've been using this in my head section:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    even though I'm told that it is better to use this:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="en">
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8" />
    The both character sets look the same in browser preview (and presumably online.)
    However, with the latter, "more correct" charset, the fonts in Design View look too large and also bold, so I have stayed with the older charset.
    Is this connected with the setting I use for fonts "Western European"?
    Should I be using "Unicode" in DW 5.5?

    Possibly.
    Two things to check first, run your pages through the validators here (especially the html validator) and clear up any errors. It may just be a small error in your html that makes DW's Design View go nutty...
    HTML Validator: http://validator.w3.org
    CSS Validator: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
    The CSS validator is a little less useful because it doesn't understand all of the vendor prefixes so it will throw more errors when there really aren't any.
    If you clean your code completely and it's still happening, posting a link to a page on your server is preferred. As a distant second, the complete code of the page and css posted to the forum may help.
