Korg legacy as AU

hey i just installed the korg legacy collection on my macbook pro and i'm trying to find the plugins in logic express. can someone step me through on how to get these up and running. thank you

If they were installed correctly, they should show up in Logic Express.
Klik on the top I/O button in the Channelstrip of an Instrument track and navigate to: Stereo -> AU Instruments -> KORG -> MS-20
If you want to see if they were installed at all, then go to: /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components.
You should find the following files there for the Legacy Edition:
- LegacyCell.component
- MDE-X.component
- MS-20.component
- MS-20FX.component
- Polysix.component
- WAVESTATION.component
There should also be files in the directory: /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/KORG/
However!!!! KORG Has not yet released UB-versions of the Legacy Edition and they don't seem to run under Rosetta.

  • Korg Legacy M1 in multi mode in Logic?

I have a Korg Legacy M1 plugin. Although there are multiple outputs selectable in the gui of the plugin, there is no multi out version available in the instrument menu in Logic's channel strip, only stereo. Is this just not implemented in Logic, or am I missing something. The M1 documentation is of no help on the logic side at all.

It is implemented in the VST format plugin as far as I recall. It just isn't implemented in the Audio Unit version, for whatever reason...
Probably the code to route to the extra outputs is still there (hence why the sound drops out), they just didn't do the extra work to define the plugin as multi-output capable - hence it only presents a stereo-output version to it's host...
Anyway, the M1 is quite CPU efficient, so you might as well just use 8 individual instances in performance mode, rather than multi-mode (multi mode was really only a way of getting as much out of limited resources as possible, and was sub-optimal in most instruments due to lack of effects and other things - in these enlightened days, we don't have to deal with the same resource limitations of old like limited polyphony, single effects units, and so on...)

  • TS5249 Problems with the Korg Legacy Collection in the new version of Garageband in Mavericks.

    Hello!
I'm having problems with the Korg Legacy Collection in the new version of Garageband in Mavericks. When I try to load the AU, I get this error message:
"Failed to load Audio Unit, please contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance. (-10110)"
They seem to work fine in Ableton Live 8 Lite, also running in Mavericks. So, I think it is something with Garageband. In addition, Korg updated to 64bit early last year.
Anyone know how to fix the problem? Or is Korg or Apple's problem?
    Thanks.

Have you checked, if you have the newest 64-bit version installed? There may still be an older version sitting around - check both plug-in folders, the one in your Home folder and the one in the system library:
    ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
Some programs may still be able to use 64-bit plug-ins, but GarageBand will not use them:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5249

  • Logic 8 Korg legacy not working

    Hey Guys,
I have a 2.4 intel dual core2 macbookpro and using logic 8 and the korg legacy does not vaildate
at all, is anyone having the same problem? and i have the latest updates and still nothing.
    any help would be great.
    chers dale

    problem solved:
KORG Legacy Collection - ANALOG EDITION 2007 is needed for validation to pass.
It is not a free update .
you will also need a syncrosoft usb key to authorize the software.
upon payment you get an automatic mail from Korg with codes that you dwl to your soft on your USB key using a wizard in the license syncrosoft control center
.there's a monopoly plug in as bonus for your money.I installed and validated it .

  • How do you get Korg Legacy bundle running as a plugin?

I have the Korg Legacy bundle (Polysix, MS 2000 etc.) which run fine as stand alone programs but I can't get them to run at software instruments in Logic (7.1) - any tips? Do I need a driver, or to setup an environment?
    Thanks, Jonathan

what version did you install? if it is an AU version, then it should just come up in your list of available instruments, just like all the rest of them. you may have accidentally just installed the VST version, which won't work in logic. you'd need VST wrapper from fxpansion for this to work, but if there's an AU available then you are pretty much always better off to go with that.
also, it's possible that your version needs an update, as some earlier versions of korg legacy did not pass AU validation, so logic will disable them from use after the first scan. check that you're up to date.

  • Korg Legacy collection is what causes Out of Memory error

    Hi guys
I'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to this. I don't seem to get it unless i've got a few instances of it. Anyone able to offer advise/confirm/comment?

Being a rompler, the legacy coll. is a RAM hog. Try using it in multimode to save memory. It should have a "dump unused samples" feature, but it doesn't

  • KORG LEGACY COLLECTION

I was wondering is anyone on here has this up and working with logic express 7.0.1
I downloaded the demo from korg.com and it appears to install correctly after forcing it in au manager, but then when i go to load it in a track it crashes logic everytime.i suspect that the demo version may be an older version that isn't logic friendly, but has anyone bought the full program with controller and got it working, and also will is pass au validation?

I don,t know about the demo version but the full version has to be ver.1.1.3 on Panther or 1.1.4 on Tiger. Maybe that's why you get crashes. On my Mac, ver.1.1.3 works flawlessly. But with the Mac you have, don't expect more than 2 notes of polyphony from LegacyCell. The other synths in the collection are less hungry!!!

My main concern is, after I save it, I remove the USB key (dongle?) that unlocks the korg sounds, and then when I re-open the project in logic, my sound is not there, and there is an error (presumably because I removed the USB key)
So, essentially, is there a way I can import some of these sounds into Logic, use them in Logic, WITHOUT having the Korg USB key use up one of my USB ports?
The key doesn't unlock the sounds, the key unlocks the Korg M1 synthesizer that plays the sound. The M1 is a synthesizer built in software, it's required to play the sounds.
As mentioned, after you get your track edited and sounding the way you want, you can then bounce the output to a standard audio file.
Sampling the sound requires some expertise, is time consuming and will never quite equal the playability of the original softsynth.

  • Korg Wavestation Plug ins not appearing in Logic 9.1.3

    Hi all;
New to the Forums and Logic. I just upgraded to Logic Express from Garageband and Im still pretty new. I am finding my way around ok but I am having an issue with my Korg Wavestation Plug ins showing up in Logic.
They show up fine in Garageband, and if I open a Garageband Project that used Wavestation instrumentation they are there too.
However, If I start a new projct The choice for Wavestation does not appear, only the Apple Plug ins. I went into the AU manager and KORG wavestation is listed nd I tried uninstall and reinstall. Am I supposed to use MIDI in stead of sofware instrument ?
BTW its Korg Legacy Collection v1.6.6 Logic is v 9.1.3 and Its on a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHZ Duo Core with 8GB RAM
Any help appreciated... I searched but couldnt find any relevant threads
    M

Set Logic to open in 32-bit mode, then open a default empty project (not one you're working on) Logic should validate the plugins... after it's finished, close Logic, re-set to 64-bit mode and you should be ok.

I assume you have bought the Mac Version, have installed it and registered it?
I also assume you have read the installation instructions on the Korg website?
Usually, external digital Instruments are triggered by Logic via the AU (audio units) protocol. So, during the installation, the Korg Installer should have installed an AU version of the KLCDE onto your Mac. If it is installed in the right place, Logic should have recognized it during the next startup and should have validated it.
If all this is done, you can access it as any other software instrument. Look under the AU instruments submenu.
If not, Korg might have better answers than i have. You should ask them.

  • Please help me decide on a Mac mini server or MacBook Pro i7 for Logic

    Hi folks,
I've really taxed my brain trying to figure out what's the smartest way to go. I'd love to know what any of you think I should do.
    My current setup:
2007 MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo
    2GB Ram
    FSB 667 MHz
    M-Audio ProFire 610
WD-Passport external drive for samples and audio files
Logic 8 (looking to upgrade to 9)
    Record 1.5
Various AU plugins including Omnisphere, Miroslav Philharmonic, Amplitude 2, FM-8, BFD 2 and Korg Legacy Analogue
Final Cut Studio (latest version) for modest HD editing but sometimes multiclips as well
I tend to use lots of tracks - around 10 vocals, 4 guitars and lots of software instruments.
As you can imagine, Omnisphere runs like a dog past 2 instances and BFD practically makes everything grind to a halt.
Since going to Record 1.5, rewiring also seems to be unusably slow.
I'd love a new iMac or Mac Pro but I make several plane journeys to visit my Mum in another country. My solution has to be mobile, although I have got monitors, a keyboard and mouse that I can use at my Mum's.
As far as I can see, there are 2 options:
    1
    A new MacBook Pro 2.66 Ghz i7
    2
A Mac Mini Server 2.66 Ghz Core 2 Duo
Physically, the Mac Mini is the better option:
    - much lighter in my hand luggage so I could take it in addition to my existing MacBook Pro.
    - more USB ports
My worries with getting a Mac Mini are:
    - Is it powerful enough or at least significantly better than my MacBook Pro?
    - Will it run the latest version of Final Cut Studio (a little off-topic, I know but I couldn't seem to find any straight answers elsewhere).
    - Is it noisy when under a heavy workload?
    - There is no Superdrive so can I use my MacBook Pro to install the software DVDs across a network?
Thanks for reading this. Let me know what you think.
    Kind regards,
    Steve

The mini will be about as powerful as your current MBP. You could have more RAM in the mini, 2 GB is certainly not enough for any serious work.
People on this list were initially(LP 9.0.0) underwhelmed by the MBP i7 dual core, it is a step up from your older MBP, but don't expect miracles. Get lots of RAM/a SSD for optimum performance.
9.1.3 may have improved performance, not sure,
Fast and relatively cheap: iMac i7 quad core. Not very portable, though.
Not ideal either is your M-audio interface, its drivers are below par making your Mac sweat more than necessary.

  • How do I find 3rd party soft synths in logic_pro 8?

I have just purchased Korg Legacy Digital Edition M1, Wavestation, MDE X,  Soft synths & effects, It seams to have installed ok but i can't get it to show up in a logic project when I add a new track, then search for the synth as an instrument plug in.
The korg folder is in Applications, and not in the main music folder like logic, itunes, garage band etc.
I can find the korg folder ok but can't access the instruments as they are greyed out.
The two synths work fine when used in stand alone. Perhaps I should have chosen custom install to make sure they were installed as audio units for plug in use?
I checked the logic manual about 3rd party plug ins and checked the audio units validation list under preferences/audio units manager and only apple plug ins showed up, no sign of korg synths...
I didn't click scan and reset as I'm not sure if I should.
The korg synths are the only 3rd party products that I have installed on the Mac.
Hopefully it's just a simple procedure that lm not following and a little advice is all I require to resolve my problem.
The korg user group web site said the don't support my syncrosoft license version any more so there were no updates upon installation, perhaps I have purchased a product at the end of its shelf life?
    Cheers,
    Beatdadnz...

  • Problem With Ultrabeat

    Hello group,
So I went to open Ultrabeat in a project (by double-clicking "Ultrabeat" on the I/O slot in the channel strip.) I got the spinning rainbow beachball for about 3 minutes and then a strange Ultrabeat window opened up. Here's a link to what I got:
I went to the "view" menu on the Ultrabeat window, and it had two options: "Controls" (which was checked) and "Editor" which I tried to select but wound up getting the rainbow beachball again for several minutes.
I'm at a loss as to why this is happening, the only significant change I've made to my Logic setup in the last few days was installing the Korg Legacy Digital package (the virtual Korg M1 and Wavestation.) All other plug-in instruments (i.e. EVP-88, EXS24, etc.) seem to work and behave fine, the problem seems to be limited to Ultrabeat. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, I've found this group to be very informative and helpful. Thanks in advance!

So the GUI's of the EmagInstruments are not somewhere in the Logic.app itself?
Yes, the gui graphics are in the app, but when Logic runs it builds the GUI's into the cache file and uses that for performance reasons. At least this used to be the behaviour, and as LP7 has never been on this machine I'm assuming that this was true at least for LP8.
Errr.... I don't have a Logic folder there... All my plugs show GUIs though...
Hmm, let me check the behaviour in the current Logic version... brb...
Ok - just checked in 9.1.1 by erasing the graphics caches, and they are not rebuilt in 9.1.1, so somewhere along the way it seems Logic doesn't do this anymore.
I just tried it with LP8 and the graphics caches were written back to disk. So it appears that while LP8 did this, the behaviour in LP9 has changed (*makes mental note*).
It could be that LP9 does still use graphics caches but writes them somewhere else, and this kind of cache corruption has resulted in the OP's behaviour in the past. I'll investigate a little...
