Koyote Soft HD Converter V1.6 Problems?

The free Koyote Soft HD Converter is a popular choice for converting AVCHD to MPEG2 HD for use in Premiere Elements. My experiences with that software have been with the 1.4 version of it. One of the first persons who brought this software to my attention was successfully using the 1.3 version. My 1.4 version worked great and has been used alone or as part of the Ozpeter proxy editing method.
HOWEVER, I decided to upgrade to the 1.6 version last night and cannot get this version to do the conversion of those .mts and .m2ts files to MPEG2 HD. I have tried various settings. However, its AVI and WMV output seem to function. I installed this 1.6 version on two different computers and got the same error message when trying for the conversion of .mts and .m2ts to MPEG2 HD....the error message being a problem with the bitrate, rate, or width and height.
Another user is having the same problems using the Koyote Soft HD Converter version 1.5.
Has anyone downloaded and tried this new 1.6 version? If so, are you having any issues with it? I would caution you about downloading this 1.6 version. It will overwrite your earlier version. In my case, I have not located a download that still exists for the 1.4 version so I can go back to that one that worked great.
Also, I do take issue with the way that Koyote Soft is expressing its units for bitrate. It gives the "setting" in the Import file list as MBps and the output bitrate as KBps. The convention would call these abbreviations Megabytes per second and Kilobytes per second respectively. They cannot possibly be that. The only interpretation that makes sense is that its MBps (megabytes per second) is really Mbps (megabits per second), and its KBps (kilobytes per second) is really kbps (kilobits per second). By contrast, Premiere Elements Properties gives the bitrate in units of KBps which is really Kilobytes per second.
Any comments would be appreciated.

The Koyote Soft HD Converter is a vital part of the AVCHD workflow of many Premiere Elements Users.
The creation of this thread had two purposes. One was to determine how wide spread this problem was, and to alert the Premiere Elements community about possible consequences of upgrading Koyote Soft HD Converter to this current version, version 1.6. It is not easy or often possible to roll back to version 1.4 or earlier once you have upgraded to 1.6. The earlier versions could not be found on the Koyote Soft site. And, if you went elsewhere online, you could find links to these earlier versions, but, when they opened, they were version 1.6 and not as advertised as an earlier version.
Koyote Soft has been notified, and I will go into that in my response to Steve Grisetti in the next post in this thread.
Do you work with AVCHD? If so, do you use Koyote Soft HD Converter in the Premiere Elements AVCHD editing process either alone or as part of the Ozpeter proxy method? If you did, you would appreciate the importance of this FREE converter in working with AVCHD and Premiere Elements. If you use Koyote Soft HD Converter, what version are you using?

Hi i had a few nokia's before and this one takes the cake for being very soft at the speaker... i cant walk and talk at the same time.. i have to stand still in a sound room.. is this normal.. i mean you can hear people .. but its soft..
is it a problem with the phone??? or is ther anyway of making it louder.??? because the guy at the shop said its normal.. and if it is..then nokia has gone back in time.. because all the nokia;'s i had before were nice and loud and clear..
Even if i compare it to samsung.. phillips.. the speaker phone is just to soft...
SO CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF ITS THE PHONE.. OR IS THIS NORMAL ON THE 6111 ..

Take it to your nearest nokia repair centre, their technicians can have a look for you, sounds like it could be a speaker fault.

Transferring, converting and duplicate problems.

Please please bare with me with my questions, and keep in mind I'm okay with computers but not an expert by any means.
I have been packing around an external hard drive for several years now with aprox 70gb of music and audio books.
I am on the road all summer and decided I just want all my audio with me instead of being in the mood for a certain genre of music and not having it with me.
So I have recently purchased the 160gb iPod.
I'm excited to get everything transferred over but I'm running into a few hair pulling problems.
A lot of my music on the hard drive was copied onto my computer years ago via windows media. So iTunes needs to convert these.. Which I think is working okay.. But I do get a lot of duplicates in my library. (Copies of the same song will either be lightly texted, and then solid black. They all appear to play. So I'll go through and delete say the lightly texted ones. (This happens if I choose the solid black ones too) I have them removed from iTunes but not perm from my computer...because im too scared of doing perm damage to my music library With not being 100% sure where these are perm removing it from.
HOWEVER, while I was doing this and thinking it was going along great, I started noticing it would delete my entire album I was working on! I was only deleted what I thought was duplicates and leaving a set of tracks in the album and the entire thing would disappear from my iTunes.
THis has also happened when I have deleted the "broken" tracks. The ones with ! Next to the song. I'll have the track fixed under it which plays, but once I delete the broken track, even the good track disappears.
i have several problems but this one is killing me. I have too much music and way to small of a hard drive on my pc to have it duplicating songs. And too much music to go back ripping the songs to Apple from the original cds.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Recently, I opened an html page in DW8, and a dialogue box

Dreamweaver to convert these tags for you?" So, being the trusting
soul that I am, I clicked "yes." But when I uploaded my page, I
could not see the Flash videos that I had put in this page. The
same thing happened with another page. So I created new pages, and
clicked on "no" when the "Convert Active Content" dialogue box
appeared, and my Flash videos appear again.
I really would like to avoid the annoying double-clicking
that has to happen with the new IE browser whenever I include Flash
content, but this work-around does not work. Any ideas?

You were right to say you wanted DW to "convert these tags to
browser-safe
scripts." What you didn't do was upload the SCRIPTS directory
that DW
created. Try doing that and all should be well.

ABAP list to spool and converting to pdf problem in QAS

         i am converting the report output to PDF by submitting the spool. i done evrything. but my problem is
in DEV -everything is ok.when i downalod pdf is coming fine with all fields.
in QAS- pdf is coming with half page. some fields are cutting off.
in program i given the format like this.
wa_pri_params-paart = 'X_65_80'.
    wa_pri_params-linsz = '185'.
can anyone suggest?? and also can i increase programatically the size becoz it is displaying with small size??

FCP converts to NTSC problem.

Dear All,
I have edited the film in PAL but client needed it in NTSC, but when I exported the film or compressed on Compressor into NTSC formats, the text went wrong, they all running off the screen.
Anyone knows what the problem is? No matte what I try the texts still go wrong. Any suggestion for solutions?

Was the original footage PAL?
Edit it in PAL and export a self contained PAL version of your project.
If your client needs an NTSC copy, use either JES Deinterlacer or Natress Standards Conversion to make it. This will take time and is easy to make a mess of, if you are unfamiliar with the process.
If your client expects quality, use an outside facility that has a dedicated hardware based standards converter.

Converting to mv4 problem

Hello,
I've got a problem with quicktime 7 pro.
I've i want to convert a movie to mv4 every thing goes smooth until it reaches 8% then it goes realy slow. So i went to bed and checked the next morning, and it was only at 16%!!
I checked the movie with Gspot codec information and all Xvid codecs are installed.
QuickTime cant play this movie either... It says that software is missing and tells me to go to a page of apple to download the software.. but they dont tell me what kind of software. Do i need specific codecs to convert AND play Xvid movies in Quicktime.

When you convert .avi movies to iPod format in Quicktime Pro, you are wasting your time. I unfortunately purchased the Pro version thinking that would be the best way to convert movies. Well, it's not. I found that it takes about 45 minutes to convert 1 minute of .mp4 video. That is completely unacceptable. What a waste of $30, and I will probably never buy another Apple product because of this issue.
What you need to do is find a FREE video converter that will produce .mp4 files. I found one in about 5 minutes and have been converting and uploading to my video iPod successfully. It works great. There are a lot of programs for sale on the net, but if you read and search, you can find one for free.
PS I have NOT had a very pleasurable time dealing with this and have not gotten ANY help from Apple in resolving this issue. I also have a registered Quicktime Pro 7 program that I will NEVER use again...thanks a lot Apple, you suck!

New Mac convert- iMac G5 Problem

I converted over to Mac just two months ago. I purchased an iMac G5 20" with 1gb ram and final cut express hd preinstalled from the factory. About a week ago after waking my iMac from sleep mode the computer froze. When I restarted it, it would not move from the gray screen with the spining wheel. I took it to the Genius bar and the guy there was able to fix the OS with disk warrior and then do an archive and install. He said that it should work ok, but that there was a chance it could freeze up again, not sure why though.
So after taking it home for one day the computer once again locked up at the startup. So I decided that since I have backed up my music files, i would do a erase and install and take it back to factory specs.
Heres the new problem. My iMac takes much much longer to boot up, sometimes 5 to 8 minutes. When I to to system preferrences and click on the .Mac icon my computer locks up and show the mulitcolor pinwheel cursor. It also does this on the iPod opitons when I click on the contacts and calendars sections. And at times safari and/or iTunes takes awhile to start up. Can anyone help?

I have a Word doc that I previously converted to PDF. I made updates and now it won't convert. Just gives me an unexpected error message. This happened after a Windows update so it could be related but some other docs have converted with no problem.

What would cause this document to suddenly not convert to PDF?

To all those having trouble converting documents to pdfs, I did some research and found a work around.
Go to File and choose Save & Send. Then choose Create PDF/XPS document. Click the Create button. PDF is generated.

DNG converter 8.6 problem

I have Elements 6 and a Nikon D7000. I have downloaded DNG converter 8.6 to convert my NEF files to DNG. I am running Windows 7. When I try and open my DNG files, I am told there is a program error.

Update your pse 6 camera raw plugin to version 5.6
I tried with the camera raw 4.2 plugin that ships with pse 6 and got the same error as you, no matter the compatibility setting in the dng converter.
After updating to camera raw 5.6, the dngs opened fine.

AE 3.1 convert to cs4 problems

I am trying to open old AE3.1.1 projects but am getting a message that
" this file was created with an older version of After Effect (3.1.1 (Windows), and can't be
opened. You can convert this file using an older version of After Effects and resaving".
1. Can I install the old AE 3.1.1 (or any of the versions in between that and the CS4 I have now) in my upgraded 64 bit Vista Ultimate system?
2. How would resaviing in the same old programme move me beyond where I am now?
Am I missing something here besides workflow?
Advice please anyone?

Freehand and converting to pdf problem

for some reason when i try to convert a freehand document to pdf ready for printing im losing an "inline" effect around some of the text.

Distiller is part of Acrobat Pro and used to set up files for output to an imagesetter.
How are you printing these? Is the printer going to make films for burning plates or is this direct from computer to printer?
If it's direct, as I suspect, then merely save the file as an EPS, then import it into Illustrator to check it over and make sure everything is good. Or just import it into Preview to look at it. They should be able to print from a Freehand EPS, but best to check with them first.
Instead of using Freehand's export to PDF simply print then instead of clicking on the Print button on the right, look to the left for a button that says "Save as PDF". This would probably be better than the EPS file, but either one can be imported into Illustrator.

Converter - file size problem?

I have used the converter successfully before. Now I tried converting a .pdf file 210 pages, 2.4 mb. the indicator spun on for a long time then gave a failed msg.
Could this be because of the size of the file or some limitation in my computer? Any solution for this?

What is the exact message you receive?
