KP26 & KP06 - version copying

Dear All,
My client is asking one advice , it is as follows,
Can we copy the one version to a new version ( Eg V0 to Z1) with the exsisting labour rates & hours of version 0
I feel version will copy only the layout and not the values.... values are to be updated as per the updated run.
Please let me know the other opinions also ...

Hi Arun,
You can use transaction KP97 to do the copying. It copies the entire plan values including Activity prices , Hours , Statistical Key figures etc., On the initial screen of KP97 the details like the source plan data types are not visible. You will have to press the button "Selection" under the Plan data section. In that selection , you can select which all data you want to transfer from One version to the Other version.

Hi Experts , I am currently facing problems while running restricted version copy in sap apo .. The log says 0 location products copied and that the process has timed out. the error message is " /SAPAPO/MVM_INT_SVC_CO_VER_LCW reported exception in task DP00014 " , then ending in time limit exceeded. could anyone explain why this happens. please note even if the log says 0 location products copied , in reality they have have been partially copied.

I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste

And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet

Version to version Copy - in HR - Short dumps

Hello gurus,
I have a question regarding version to version copy in BPS.
1. We use the standard planning function copy.
2. We use variable called version from and version to to set the values.
After we went live it used to work fine for the last 6 months.
The copy function appears as a pushbutton in the ALV layout.
These are the steps the user does:
1. User sets the value - From version and To version for example in our case ; FFF and X90.copy version FFF to X90.
2.Then comes to the HR planning layout. executes the layout. Select the varsion range FFF - X90.The presses the push button - HR ver to ver copy. It shortdumped due to memory issue.
SAP consultant suggested to refer OSS note 546464 which is

Does anyone use the
UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP or
UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP_2
program.
How it works. I think we can execute the planning function in the background.
Anyone use the above program.

I've used UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP in the past; basically you can use it to schedule running a planning sequence in the background, similar to UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE. I used it in a similar situation to yours: maybe you are copying more data than before, or the system is busier.
You can get a description of UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE at

The basic difference is that the 'STEP' version divides up the data into chunks based on a characteristic, such as Region, defined in the Planning Level(s) as 'selection in package' . It is run from Ad-hoc package.
So from SE38, execute UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP, enter the planning sequence and Characteristic used for steps, and 'From' and 'to' values of the characteristic ( e.g. # and ZZZ).
Then execute in background, or schedule. If it fails, I sometimes ran in foreground to get some diagnostics.

Version Copy options - Need advice

Hi Gurus,
I have a question about version copy options in APO.
We have a situation where 000 is shared by two businesses with their own set of master data. One of the businesses uses a similation version X to do their planning and use a custom program to copy planned orders from X back into the live version 000.
Due to some human error, we have a situation where X has a copy of the 000 for one business but doesnt have accurate numbers in the 000 itself (RLCDEL was run after 000 was copied into the simulation version X)
I have to find a way to copy back X into 000 WITHOUT deleting current contents of the 000 for the other business.
The report /SAPAPO/VERSION_COPY_PAR deletes everything in the target version before copying from the source.
Is there a way to selectively copy orders from one version to the other without deleting other data?

In transaction /SAPAPO/VERCOP, if you select copy scope as "copy master
data and transaction data" and restrict your copy details by providng
the filter criteria with the following, you can do it.
1) DP or SNP
2) Order Data
3) Order stock
4) Order cateogy
5) Product
6) Location
7) Plannerwise
8) Period etc.,
In this case, it deletes only the entries you have deleted from target version
and copy the new data
Please confirm whether it works for you

What is the usage of Version Copy functionality?
- If is use " Copy Master Data Only",....
will it delete all the transaction datas in KFs?
will it deinitilaize the PA?

Hi Sai
As the name indicates, version copy functionality is used to copy master data and/or transaction data from one planning version to another. Once the data is copied to your Simulation version, you can do some analysis, change or run plannig engines on the sim version. Once the results are verified by the user communicity, you may choose to copy back the results from the simulation version to the active and version and also release the data to the attached ERP system.
If is use " Copy Master Data Only"
if copy master data used, then it copies all the exisitng master data from the source planning version to the destination planning version.
it does not delete the existing transaction data in the source version and also does no deinitialize the source planning area.
The target planning area also does not get de initialized during version copy.
you may also refer to note 519014 for further details on version copy.

Manhours in CO Version Copy

Hi,
We are doing CO version copy on monthly basis and we are using CJ9F. Since we are using CJ9F costs are copied over at activity level from Version 0 to the monthly version. Hence planned manhours should be available in the monthly version.
Due to business reasons there are case where in we do not maintain "Activity Type" in internal activities. Hence there is no cost in Version 0 and in turn no cost and no manhours in the monthly version.
Is there any other method (other than CJ9F or CJ9 series transaction) wherein we can copy the manhours from version 0 to a monthly version.

Ahmed,
When the network is created the internal activities will have hours, work centre and the activity type. So system calculates the planned cost (in V0). Once the cost is calculated we move that cost to a general cost activity and track from there (this is a non-standard process which is currently being followed) and blank out teh "Activity Type" in internal activities. So the manhours still remain in internal activities and tracked, but no cost.
In this case there is no Version 0 cost at internal activities, but the manhours are still there. Because of this CJ9F has no cost to copy from internal activities. So the monthly version does not have any cost so it is not able to calculate the hours. This is the reason i am trying to find out is there any other method to copy manhours.

How do I show the master and version copy of a pic seperately?

I have downloaded the trial of Aperture 2, and seem to like what I see so far. I'm having a little trouble
learning a few things though. I wish I had a real book to study, but I know this software is so new.
Here is my problem, when I first started using the program, whenever I chose an image from the browser, and started editing in the viewer, a second copy was imediately put next to the master copy in my browser after i was finished. I like this because as i scrolled through my browser I was able to see
both copys side by side, same pic number, master and edited version.
Now in certain projects when i scroll through the browser I only see the edited version without the master sitting right next to it. I must have clicked on something, but I can't figure out how to get both side by side again in the browser. So far the only way I can see some of the masters in the project is by hitting the M key or going to toolbar, and clicking on show master, but I can't see the master by itself in the browser. Sorry if i'm confusing anyone, but if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thank you. Tommy

I tried what Dave said and it worked, but it's kind of weird, in one project when I edit it does create
the new version, but puts a stack box around it. Ian different project it just shows 2 seperate picture with the same numbers, but not highlighted for a stack.
I really appreciate the info, I know this is probably kind of petty, but I hate being stumped by things like this.
So how would I be able to show just masters in the browser without having to dig through the versions first? Again, this forum has always been very helpful to me in the past. Thanks to anyone who helps. Tommy

Activity Price thru KP26 & KP06

I want a clarification regarding activity price calculation:
- I know that we can manually enter the activity quantity and variable/fixed rates in kP26. If that is the case, what is the purpose of quantity that is entered in KP26 ?
- Other way, we can plan the cost element in the cost centre and later on maintain the quantity in KP26 and do the KSPI (plan run) and the system will calculate the prices. In this case, I hope, system will be calculating the fixed price only. What about the variable price then ?

If you follow the steps below your purpose will serve:
KP06      1-101     Cost Centre Planning - element planning (Fixed value & Variable Value)
      1-102     Activity Distribution to findout Fixed/Variable Price
          if both are required paln Variable quanty
          otherwise Fixed qty
KP26      1-201     Activity Planning (Activity qty)
You have to use both the layout in KP06 & remember the total activity qty you have planned in KP26 that should match you activity distribution in KP06 (1-102 layout)

Special Version: Copy of content possible?

Hi colleagues,
In our BCS project we need to copy the content of a special version (hierarchy structure of consolidation units). Is it possible?
It seems, when copying the special version in the workbench (definition) it only copies the version but not the content.

New plan version - Copy from plan to plan

Hello,
I copied a new plan version X from plan version 0 with KP97. Now I realized that only planning primary costs were copied. Is it possible to copy also the secondary costs (resulting from assessments) to the new plan version. If not, is it possible to copy the plan assessment cycles from version 0 to version X. Or can the existing plan cycles (KSUB) can be used for both versions (hoever I could not find a selection field where I can choose the required plan version)?

Hi,
a plan assessment cycle contains CO-version information in its header date.
You can use KSU7 to copy a plan assessment cycle from version A to version B, just enter CO-version B in the header data of the copied cycle and ensure that in "sender values" the version is initial (thus the header data CO-version takes place).

The report /SAPAPO/VERSION_COPY_PAR deletes everything in the target version before copying from the source irrespective of selection condition. but i need to delete only specific material which given in the initial selection.
Is there a way to selectively copy orders from one version to the other without deleting other data?

This is a standard behaviour of SAP:
This report does the following actions:
- First delete all master and transactional data of the target version preserving its name and profiles.
- Then copy all master and transactional data of the source version to the target version.
- Copy and delete data in parallel

InfoObject Version Copy Error

I had to remove an InfoObject (zmtcpt) which was an attribute to another (zmatnr). After the change I activated the zmatnr. All looked good until I tried to create a characerstic combination for DP. I am now getting an error which indicates that the zmatnr_zmtcpt is not in version A. I have tried to repair zmatnr and zmtcpt and I have copied both using the ABAP program RSDG_IOBJ_COPY_A_TO_M_VERSION. All appears good with zmatnr and zmtcpt as individual infoobjects but I am still getting the error: "zmatnr_zmtcpt not available in version a". Any suggestions?

When you add or Delete Navigation attribute for the characteristics which is used in the existing MPOS , Please Reactivate the MPOS.
Try it with reactivating your MPOS .

Activity prices in KP26 used for actual and plan in version 0

We plan activity prices via KP26 in version 0. We then plan activity consumption via KP06, and run the plan reconciliation via KPSI.
During the year, we need to update the activity prices used in actual activity allocation. This price also comes from version 0.
When we change the activity price, the planned amounts change also. We are looking for a way to maintain a separate price for actual activity allocation.

For other's benefit, these are the steps I took to make this work:
1) set the "Purely Iter. Price" indicator in plan version 0
2) import planning layout 1-N01 from client 000 (OBKF)
3) add planning area "Cctr: Manual actual prices" to planning layout SAPALL (KP34)
4) add planning layout 1-N01 to planner profile SAPALL (KP34)
5) create and run custom program from note 551309 to add cost element field to the input screen in KBK6 (SE38)
6) transport planning layout for planning area "Cctr: Manual actual prices" (OKEX)
Now we can plan a price in KP26, and maintain a different price in KBK6 which is used in the actual activity allocation.

why i cannot update KP26 using version 0? but when i using version 1 its ok ?
now my fiscal year is 2010, and period 3.
