KPT Filters For Photoshop

I've already asked Corel about this with no results. I've been using KPT filters with Photoshop for years. I bought a new Mac Pro and discovered my version of PS wouldn't work so I upgraded to PS CS 3. The only filters that won't work are the KPTs.
I reinstalled them and did drag them into both the Filters and Plug-in folders with no good results.
Dose anyone have and idea how to make them work or do they join the Dead Applications Society?
TIA

Hi
You'll probably find it isn't CS3, it's because you now have an Intel Mac. I have KPT filters on my G5 (the ones with Fluid, Lightning, FraxFlame II etc). Tried them on an Intel Mac mac and they won't enable.

  • Scripting PixelBender filters for Photoshop CS4

Does anyone know if it is currently possible to access PixelBender filters within your scripts (using the ExtendScript Toolkit)? If so, how would I go about doing so? If not, are there any plans to add scripting support for PixelBender filters to the Photoshop DOM?
NB: I've also posted this in the Photoshop Scripting forum
Just to give some context to my query, I want to create a PixelBender filter that can be embedded within an AIR application to allow users to play about with applying different filters to their images... this AIR app will be able to export a set of values (that correspond to a given filter's parameters) that can be passed to another AIR app that instructs Photoshop to re-generate the same filter effect (via SwitchBoard). The goal is to achieve consistent results between the two apps.

The Pixel Bender Gallery extension is a live filter and should be accessible via ExtendScript, but I haven't tried it... So, theoretically, yes, but I can't say I've done it myself.

  • Install extra filters for Photoshop (MAC)

Just playing with Pixel Bender and the results with the standard filters are great.
I installed Pixel Bender on a MAC system with CS 5.0. Reading the forum I saw some nice extra filters and try to install these but without success.
Can somebody tell me how and where to install these new filters like Cassini filter.

  • Looking for filters for Pixel Bender CS4 32 bit OS

I just downloaded and installed Pixel Bender as I am hoping to get something similar to 'oil painting".
Looking for filters for Pixel Bender for:
                                                           CS4 32 bit OS.
    Is there any out there?

I don't think you'll find an oil paint filter for photoshop cs4, since it wasn't until photoshop cs5 and pixel bender that had the oil paint filer and as far as i know, adobe
has never made the oil paint code public.
There used to be lots of pixel bender filters for photoshop cs4 on the adobe exchange, but adobe shut it down.

You can look at what was available and see if any external links are given to the authors websites where you still be able to get some of them.

  • Does Creative Cloud offer free filters/actions for Photoshop?

I have Adobe Creative Cloud and was wondering if they offered any free filters or actions for Photoshop? I'm still a beginner, but wanted to find some actions to try out on my photographs.
    Thanks!

There are several that are included with photoshop, they are accessible by clicking on the small icon in the upper right hand corner of the actions panel. Also check out the Exchange (Which will be updated soon and will have a new URL)

  • KPT Filters on Leopard (Mac 10.5)

I just upgraded to Leopard (Mac 10.5) and discovered that the Photoshop CS4 KPT filters I use (and depend upon for much of my creative work) have been disabled. Is there some version of KPT filters available that’s compatible with Leopard or Snow Leopard (MAC 10.6) when using Photoshop CS4? The KPT filters still work on Leopard with Photoshop CS2.

Yes and that is the LAST version of Photoshop those plug-ins will EVER run in I suspect...
Photoshop CS3 changed the Photoshop SDK that required a complete re-write of all plug-ins to work in the Mac version of Photoshop CS3. This was required to be able to run on MacIntel machines. Photoshop CS4 continues that rewrite requirement for all plug-ins...
Since the KPT plug-ins are no longer supported (to the best of my knowledge) you'll never be able to use them in newer versions of Photoshop. You might check with Corel software in the event they have taken the old KPT stuff and updated them (the odds are not very good).

  • Mac mini (late 2014 ) 2.6ghz for photoshop..

    hi friends,
i have plan to upgrade a system for basic photo editing in photoshop cs5 or 6... regarding this , i must need speedy open and save the photo files.. i am tired of using old pentium dual core processers in my old p.c.
but i came to know that mac mini is also dual core in this model.. i know the speed difference will definetely blow the old pentium model.. but i have some doubts regarding this i5 dual core model..
    1. is this model is hyper threaded ? if so , photoshop will get any benefit of hyper threaded cores?
    2. does dual core is enough for photoshop in terms of speedy editing without hanging?
3.do i expect same performance speed of windows PC i5 processor with mac mini i5 models?
i dont play games.. only photoshop and web browsing..
    thank you

Generally, it all depends on how heavy duty your Photoshop
work is and how large the images are.  If you work with large images
with a multitude of complex filtering layers, the Mini may not
cut it.  However, if you just do a layer or 2 with simple image adjustments,
    it will be just fine.
One think to note is all the new Mac Minis have integrated graphics.
Many of Photoshop filters and 3rd party plugins heavily leaverage
the graphics specific processing of graphics cards.  Although the newer
Intel Iris integrated graphics are much better than earlier generations,
they are no match for a a computer mid range discrete graphics solution with
its own dedicated RAM.  Integrated graphics share system memory with everything
    else running on the computer.

  • What is the minimum Windows Experience graphics subscore for Photoshop CS6?  to be efficient?

A friend has a low-end laptop with a graphics score of 3.4 and is experiencing issues attempting some filters. My laptop is reflecting 6.9 which is likely overkill, but I am wondering how to advise on what the minimum system should be.
If the Windowxs Experience graphics score is a poor predictor of minimum system graphics requirements, what should one look to for guidance?

Some of CS6 newer features require a GPU and openGL.  You friends low end machine most likely does not have a supported GPC video chipset so GPU and Opengl will not be available for Photoshop use. This means some CS6 will not be available on your friends machine. Most Photoshop features do not require much when it come to video graph. The ones that do will not be available on your machine like oil painting filter. The filter will not be listed on his machine as far as I know.  There is a list of tested GPU on Adobe site. Care must be used when reading the list thye do not go into details when it come to mobile laptops.

  • Animate filters in Photoshop CS3 - possible?

I know this is not the right forum for this question. There is some filter effects in PS CS3 that I want to animate. One way could be to copy the filters and try to use them inside AE CS3, but it would be cool to really learn what is possible to do inside PS. Could this be done?
    Regards / Jimmy

You cannot use PS filters in AE. That functionality was removed as of AE 6 due to Photoshop's filter architecture undergoing massive changes at the time that could not be accomodated. Perhaps it will resurface some day (it's a high-priority wish for quite a number of users). You can however use the filters with Photoshop's batch processing and video layers, but only with static settings. For animating filter parameters you will have to dig into BridgeTalk/ Photoshop scripting so you can change parameters on an image-by-image (or frame-by-frame, if you will) basis, but obviously this will take time to learn or find nice peopel versed in that art who are willing to share their knowledge.

  • How do I include gradation filters in Photoshop CS4?

I used to posses coloured gradation filters for my camera, but unfortunately no more and would like to imitate this effect on some images using Photoshop CS4.  I have heard that it is possible to include these but don't know how.  Can anyone help please?

Create a color gradient on a layer, set the layer blend mode to multiply - then adjust opacity to taste.
Or use the photofilter adjustment layer and add a gradient to the layer mask.

  • Extract and Pattern Maker filters in Photoshop CS4?

What happened to the Extract and Pattern Maker filters in Photoshop CS4? Are they gone or placed somewhere else?

    Hi guys,
I might be an old fart! But I love extract... Are there any other way to make transparent pixels on the edges on the object you want cut out?
Personally I cry at night for the semi-loss of Extract! This means that Adobe wont improve it any more and with time the filter might be all gone!?!
    cheers

  • Help on adding plugin filters to photoshop cs2

I use Windows XP, 1 gig ram, more than enough space on hard drive.
I just installed photoshop CS2. I also use PSPX and have plugins EyeCandy, FlamingPear filters, and all of the KPT filters in the plugin options on PSPX. Question is, to use them in photoshop and also PSPX ..... how do I install them into photoshop also? be gentle, I'm not sure about how to install them...

  • Additional material files for photoshop CS6?

Hi, are there new, additional material files available for download and installing for photoshop CS6, such as glass?

What error message and where are you installing?  If using 64 bit CS6 make sure program is compatible.  Many filters are still 32 bit so you would have to run in 32 bit mode (if you have Windows OS), Mac is 64 bit only.

  • "Smart History" for Photoshop

What about having something like a "Smart History" for Photoshop?
When using filters or adjustment layers I often disable/enable them to see the effect, when I do that I often do it quite often to get a sense for the changes- this clogs the history in no time.
If PS would detect that back and forth it could just show the latest two steps in the history (enable/disable) so one can still keep track of all the other adjustments made by other tools.
Is this something that would be considered for future versions?
PS: This could be integrated in the same way in Lightroom aswell.

What are you doing to toggle something that gets get recorder in the history palette? Ctr+Z Ctrl+Z does not nor does turning on and off a layers visibility even Alt+Click Visibility toggle does not add history states.  Disabling and enabling Layer Mask does add history states. Backing up in histort could also remove all disable enable layer mask toggleing steps. Backup and move on.

  • Filters for FCP

Are there any sites that I could download filters for FCP such as grainy old film look, and a way to put a black halo around the video like you may see in the movie The Illusionist. The edges fade to a black and its in a oval shape around the video. Let me know.

A shaped soft edge vignette (as opposed to a simple
round darkening of the extremities) can be prepared
in Photoshop to the pixel count of your image.
I'm doing this in HDV a lot recently.
    In that frame size, I make a 1440 x 1080 pixel
rectangle and have PS adjust it for HDV aspect. There
are quite a few ways of shaping the frame. Paint,
    blur selection and invert, etc.
When you have a frame you like, import it into FCP as
a JPEG or as a PS layer with a Blending mode already
in place. Float that above your image or sequence and
make the Blending mode Multiply, for instance.
    Instant shaped frame.
A similar path can matte fancy titles, crawls and
    stuff.
Thanks Peter. I had an idea similar to that just was too lazy to do it. Thanks I will take your advice and make a vinette in photoshop. Do you have a link where I could preview your videos? You can see my videos at web.mac.com/sxeseis
