KT266 Pro2 Blue Screen.. via chips??
everytime i try to run a program, more specifically, games; IE: WarCraft 3, Command & Conquer: Generals, or n/ething that requires Direct X (my speculation) when i quit the game (and only when i quit the game) i get this gay blue screen in windows 2000 (and it was in XP also) that says "IRQ NOT... " something something, i'm not sure, all iget is the IRQ part about my AGP controller? or VIA chipset?
can someone please tell me how 2 fix it, and i have the via drivers installed, and videocard drivers updated

Blue screen on launch - tried all solutions offered in discussions - no joy
Hi
I started up my G5PPC running OSX 10.4 (not sure which version and you'll soon see why). It went to a the grey apple screen, whirs a bit and then gos to a blue screen. I was able to move my cursor. But that was it. Nothing else happened.
I read all the forums and as a result of their collective wisdom did the following. At each stage I rebooted the G5 and got the same result as above with very little variation unless noted below.
I disconnected all externals etc and powered off etc.
I ran Techtool - and all my bits are in working order.
I ran disk utility - repaired permissions and verified disks.
I ran disk warrior - it told me my boot drive had 11 overlapping files but it created a new directory and sorted those out. It looked like I was in business.
However, when I turned the G5 back on I got a 0S9 style graphic of a file and a flashing question mark which Alsoft says means you have to reinstall OSX.
I have a bootable back up of my boot drive so I thought there would be no harm trying that before doing a full restore.
After the first disc of my install discs went in, the G5 unexpectedly rebooted itself and stuck while the fans went crazy.
With my original boot drive now wiped but with no OSX installed, I decided to restore it from my back up via super duper.
Once that was done I tried to reboot - back to blue screen via the grey apple screen.
I tried to boot my G5 from the firewire external drive (which is bootable) which didn't work either.
Both before the restore and after, using my Macbook pro, I set the G5 up in target mode and had a look at my boot drive. It was nearly full for a start so I deleted a lot of unnecessary stuff off it (eg old video rushes - no programme files). There's 50gig free now.
Everything seems to be in tact however and as noted above, none of the software checks (Diskwarrior, Disk Utility, Tech tools) are reporting any problems with the hard drive - like bad sectors or whatever and it has a new clean directory courtesy of DiskWarrior).
Any suggestions about next step?
someone on here got there machine up and running by deleting a the startupservices plist which I did via my mac book pro accessing my G5 via target mode. It worked for them but in my case merely caused the G5 to create a new plist. It still went to blue screen (though I briefly saw a small window which looked like a user default log on window).
I ran disk warrior again. No problems found. Here is something worth ponder and consideration that not everyone takes to heart:
When a disk utility repair fixes major over lapping extents, figure you are lucky to be able to Preview your drive and back it up.
But then you really should / need to / strong recommendation - REFORMAT.
And then keep your system cloned (emergency, working backup, and always test new updates, patches, releases on a test backup).
Disk Warrior doesn't test files and content fully, it doesn't look for weak spots or marginal bad sectors. And it doesn't know if file is garbage or good, just that the directory points to file.
SuperDuper optimizes directories, skips temp files and logs and things best built on first time boot (and one reason to always do a Safe Boot after cloning or updating).
Disk Warrior, if you option + click on the REBUILD directory button it takes you to a 2nd screen to "scavenge" more thoroughly, which is what I use.
When HFS+ gets low, trouble is the directory can become corrupt in ways that it loses files, data, and pointers to files.
You did a very good job, and more than many or most, it seems there are weaknesses in HFS+ and in tools to find and repair problmems. And getting low on disk space... well, why isn't there a quota system. -
I get a blue screen on Windows 7 startup via bootcamp (Lion OS)
My Windows 7 works fine via VMWare Fusion, however since having upgrading to Lion:
1. Get a blue screen hardware issue starting up directly in Windows which appears just after the Windows startup animation. Using the windows repair doesn't seem to do anything.
2. Bootcamp now missing from the Mac OS 'Start up' target disk.
Has anyone solved these problems?
Infuriating that Apple have released Lion and it buggers up Bootcamp. I do not wish to go throught the process of partitioning and reinstalling Windows again as it takes days because I have to install Vista and wait a while for Windows to eventually install both service packs before I can then install the Windows 7 upgrade disk. It took approxiamtely 2 days of time to do this!!!
Thank you.I can easily get into Windows. It is just that the drivers don't seem to work correct, and makes the screen dark.

I have a MSI K7R Pro2 - RU (MS-6380) and i'm experimenting blue screens with windows xp. I get always the same error : STOP 0x00008E
Does someone of you know what's causing this ?
I always have this error while playing never in a office use.
My other hardware :
(Asus) Geforce 2 32mb
(creative) Sound Blaster Audigy Frenmch eX (with the front panel)
(3com) Ethernet card 10/100
(unknown) 2 sticks of ram
dvd
At first i though it was the sound card, because i bought this config when both were disp. i mean the mb, and the sound card. The drivers for the sound card didn't were very stable, so i waited till some drivers came out for win xp.
But now i have more stable drivers, but the problems are still here. I also took the sound card out. But the problem was still there.
Now i have some questions ...
it is mb related ?
graphic card related ? (at first i also had probs with, cf infinite loop, but changed drivers and changed PSU and no more inifte loops)
OS related ? (tried with win98, but got blue screens too)
Well i have win xp, maybe i could try to update to sp1, but it's something i would want to avoid....
So any ideas ??
Oh i almost forgot :
This problem is very strange, because it never happens at the same time. Sometimes i can play hours and hours without a problem, but some other times, got the same prob again and again.Well it seems to be the ram ...
I took out the 2nd stick of ram, and in 2 days of quasi non - top gaming i didn't had a single blue screen ..
Thank to you i'm finaly can play without the fear of a BSOD ...
I'll try to put the 2nd stick in the 3rd place and see if it was the stick of ram or the emplacement...
I also should swap the "working" stick with the "non working", and see if it's really the stick.
Thank you, and i'll post again with my results. -

CPUI finally found a fix that worked for the above Mac Mini 5,2 running Windows 7 64bit bootcamp. You need to uninstall all the boot camp AMD drivers and software first then install the :"AMD Catalyist 12.1 Preview Driver 32/64 bit". You will need to find "AMD Catalyist 12.1 Preview Driver 32/64 bit" somewhere other than AMD since they are no help at all and will just blame the other guy or redirect you to another dead end. Below is a link to the actual software I used that worked. Good Luck. You could always try to just install and update the currently installed software and drivers with the one below and that might also work.

Get the blue screen but the TV doesnt find the signal from my mac via hdmi
Before my mac could connect to my TV Samsungs LE32B350 without any problem, but now it just keep saying no signal from the tv. I get a blue screen when I connect the hdmi on the laptop for one sec then nothing happens. I have tried search for more screens but aint finding anything.
Please help meUnfortunately older G4 minis are very touchy about certain hi-res monitors when run from DVI. Hi-res in this case means any monitor whose resolution causes the pixel clock to be above 135 MHz. It is normally the case that 1680 x 1050 timing will have a pixel clock above 135 MHz, although there is no way to observe that directly from within OS X.
There are only two known work-arounds for the issue. One is to run the monitor over a VGA interface. The other is to use a program like SwitchRes X to lower the pixel clock below 135 MHz. If you choose to do the latter, write back if you'd like some guidance on how to do that. -
When starting Firefox 7.0.1 before Firefox can load home screen a blue screen appears for 1-2 seconds then the home screen is loaded. This happens every time I enter Firefox.

I do backup with iCloud. I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever. Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
[VIA] Kmixer.sys Blue Screen
Hi There
I have been experiening the dreaded blue screen such as other people have reported while playing games. The windows diagnostics program states that the failure was caused by Kmixer.sys.
I have gone through the suggestions on line testing/replacing and removing items but still get a blue screen with the report pointing to kmixer.sys
I have installed all the latest drivers and have flashed the motherboard with the latest bios.
The system is
AMP 3000 XP (Not over clocked)
MSI KT6 Delta motherboard with onboard cmedia sound
1GB PC2700 DDR RAM (Tested for 6 house with memtest86 with no failures) Also tested 512 PC3200 on its own with the same blue screen.
500W power supply. Upgraded from 300. Same blue screen with both.
New nvidia 6600 GT graphics car replacing the old nvidia MX400 card. Still same problem
300GB sata drive.
2 x 80 GB ATA drives
NEC DVD burner (blue screen with disconnected)
DVD standard drive (blue screen with disconnected)
Modem. (blue screen with it in or out.)
Floppy. (blue screen with it in or out.)
Windows XP (Problem still apparent with clean boot)
Norton Internet security.
Any suggestions to the solution?
ThanksHello!
Thank you for the informative post! Exemplatory!
Kmixer.sys seems to have to do with audio files.
Could you try disconnecting and unscrewing all not necessary parts, but mobo and processor, system hard disk, one stick of memory, and a CD device on a different flat cable from the hard disk, and then reinstall Windows.
Yes, I know it sounds like a lot of hard (ware) work, but if the reinstall doesn't help, at least troubleshooting will be much easier afterwards. -
Windows 7 Blue Screen of Death from Apple Wireless Keyboard?
I've installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp 3.0 drivers on my Mac mini, and I suppose overall, I'm enjoying it. However, I'm getting a blue screen that seems almost random. Keyword is almost.
I've got my Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mighty Mouse paired, and they're both working well, however, I do believe I am getting some blue screens from my wireless keyboard.
It seems, at random intervals (usually when I haven't touched the keyboard and mouse for awhile) I get an IRQL blue screen and no information about what's exactly causing it. For example, if I'm sitting in the other room listening to music for awhile, and I come back and press the "next" media button on my keyboard, it'll crash and give me the blue screen. However, I've also tried pressing another random button (shift) to "wake" the keyboard if it had fallen asleep, which also results in a blue screen. The blue screens ONLY show up when I give input via the wireless keyboard. Or, if I leave the computer on overnight to download a file or something, the screen will sleep (which it should) then I'll press a button on the keyboard, the screen will stay asleep, and the computer will restart. Which is just a hidden blue screen I'm assuming.
I've tried reinstalling Windows (Clean/fresh install of course), installing/uninstalling drivers, pairing and re-pairing. I've also removed unnecessary/non-Windows 7 drivers that were installed with Boot Camp.
Outside of this blue screen, I am quite impressed with Windows 7. I just can't figure out what's going on. Is there any place I can get a description of what's causing this crash? Does anyone know what's happening or know a solution to this?
Thanks in advance, if you need more details, please ask.Experiencing exactly the same symptoms, bugcheck/bluescreen only when touching the Apple wireless keyboard after a period of inactivity.
I have an 20" iMac, just upgraded Leopard -> Snow Leopard latest minor version and updated to Boot Camp 3.1 hoping they provided a fix, but the driver at fault (keymagic.sys) doesn't look updated and the issue is still there
Hopefully someone from Apple dev support is reading this, here's all the info I could squeeze from the crash dump:

Hi can anybody help me solving this problem? I have T400 with windows vista 32. I upgraded it into windows 7. And now my laptop is having problem with the blue screen when the windows started it says about memory management or IRQL that asked me to disable the BIOS memory such as caching or shadowing.... What do you guys reckon?? Cheers.
I used to get that BLUE SCREEN ALL THE TIME
I stoped getting it one after I slipstreamed windows xp pro to sp1 and did a clean install
I use latest nvidia http://www.nvidia.com
I use the latest via drivers http://www.via.com.tw
also you should check to make sure your video card is seated properly take it out and put it back in
clear cmos/bios
check your memory make sure it's seated properly also try moving it around I found that the middle slot was bad on my board but I have a K7T266 pro2 v2 thank god I have a three year warenty still time to rma when every I get around to upgrade -
Important note: The symptoms and solutions described below address only a small subset of the possible causes for blue screen errors, aka BSOD. This information can help address blue screen errors specifically related to Turbo Memory, but may not solve errors related to other issues. Please read through the instructions completely, make sure they apply to your system, and after attempting the solutions please post back with your feedback for the community.
Some users may experience random blue screen errors with ThinkPad
systems running Windows Vista with Intel Turbo Memory hardware. These
blue screens may occur during normal usage on the system or they may
occur when booting into Windows Vista. Blue screens related to the
Intel Turbo Memory hardware may reference a stop code of 8086 with
memory address locations of {0, 0, 0, 0}.
There are two main steps that you can take to help resolve blue screen issues related to Intel Turbo Memory.
Step 1: Update Intel Turbo Memory Driver
If the driver version is before version 1.0.1.1004-7.0.3.1001, please
update to this version.
To determine what version of the Intel Turbo Memory driver is installed:
1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
2. Click System and Maintenance.
3. Click System.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Expand the Storage controllers category.
6. Double-click Intel Flash Cache Logic Chip.
7. Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version (for example, 1.0.1.1004).
The new driver and installation instructions can be found here.
Note: The Intel Matrix Storage Driver is updated with this package.
Step 2: BIOS version
If your BIOS version is older than those listed below, please update to the version listed.
How to check your BIOS version:
Turn off the system.
Turn on the system.
While the To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.
The
BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If you have set a supervisor
password, the BIOS Setup Utility menu appears after you enter the
password.
Check BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version.
Turn off the system.
System BIOS versions:
ThinkPad T61/T61p (14.1 inch widescreen with IEEE 1394 model) - BIOS version 1.22 (7LET52WW)
Please
remember that these updates do not solve every possible system blue
screen, but they do resolve several problems related to the Intel Turbo
Memory driver.

X60 Tablet SXGA+ primary, Z61p fully loaded workhorseThanks Tim,
I do have my T61p fully up-to-date to the latest drivers and updates (via System Update and the Drivers&Software web page when the former is not that up-to-date).
At the moment the most recurrent problem is this:
http://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=55
which has been longly speculated here:

My other angst is the boot-time chkdsk hang-up problem:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=52765&highlight=chkdsk
I just wonder if this purely a Vista issue when using NV cache, the disk spinning down at almost exactly 1 hour from the beginning of the chdsk operation seems too much of a coincidence.
This is my T61p configuration:

IBook doesnt start anymore (red, green & blue screens)
Today at college, i just wanted to get my iBook out of the standby and nothing happened. Black screen, just the DVD inside it ran and even the restart buttons didnt work, only taking out the battery brought it down.
Then i restarted it and some grey screens came up, the a full red, a full green and a full blue screen came up, then grey again. Again, restartin via powerbutton didnt work,. only taking out the battery.
Then, after several restarts, it actually started the system and i logged on. After about 2 min the screen dimmed and from the top a black screen came up. Again, only taking out the battery got it down. That repeated several times and now the system isnt eve restarting. Sometimes it actually plays the startup sound, sometimes it just starts the fan but doesnt do anything. Pressing the alt-button worked about 2 times but still, nothing happens. When im home, i will try to insert the system disk (there is still a dvd inside...) and start from the cd but that "not-startin" seems to be a hardware problem.
And there is another problem in solving this one: My FireWire port doesnt work, that blew up mysteriously, but the Geniusses in the AppleStore could only tell me it would cost £550 to replace the logicboard...
Thanks if you got any help.Well the GPU in the 1.2 GB machine is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 these have a tendency to fail. I have one here with a bad 9200. I'm negotiating with a fellow for a used working board and should know this weekend. I have also been looking for a replacement chip since my sources tell me that this chip is also in Compaqs, IBMs and Sonys.
It's also possible that the chip needs reballing. Look for that term in these forums as well as "shim fix'. If that works it could run for a long time with that fix. If not then probably the chip went bad and since the FireWire is bad you might consider a used board. They can be found on eBay for ~ $200 or less.
BTW plugging a bad cable or device into the FireWire can cause it to blow. I have a friends external HD here that has actual scorch marks on the input chips (it also blew the FireWire port on her G4 tower).

Blue Screen of Death Hangups.. any advice??
Hi, I've recently setup a system with the below configuration, and am getting the blue screen of death at various stages during the intial windows install. These occur at various times, sometimes I get to the copying files stage, sometimes not, but never to any GUI stage. POST seems fine, and the D-bracket gives the all clear, my best guess is a faulty RAM chip, but I would appreciate some advice before going out to purchase replacement parts. (Limited funds)
Current plan was to start with a new RAM chip, though I've read since purchasing that these Corsair chips don't overclock so well, so may consider another brand. Then perhaps a small IDE HDD, though I've managed to get through the formatting stage, and even file copy on occasion, so this seems a little unlikely.
Error codes if they help have been 0x0000004e and 0x0000007e (also an IRQ_LESS_NOT_EQUAL - 0x0000001e (I think?))I have an MSI NEO2 with very similiar problems I've been having a real hard time troubleshooting. It BSODs often times during boot-up. I went through the obvious things, like RAM, PSU, CPU over heating, etc by substition. Nothing helped. I even swapped hard drives, no dice. So I figure it has to be motherboard. I've updated the firmware to the latest rev. Reset BIOS defaults to fail safe and optimized, still same problem. The really strange thing it only does it during boot. If I can get the OS to load, it's stable. I can run benchmarks, play a game of Doom3, surf the web for hours, no problems. Restart, BSOD. Sometimes it gets so bad I give up and can't use the machine. I have a duel boot system with XP Pro and XP 64-bit. Both OS's have this issue, but the XP Pro more so for some reason. I even tried a dfferent hard drive with an OS which has been stable in another machine for over a year, same problem. I was starting the process of pulling the motherboard for RMA when I realized I still had the firewire port attached via pin connectors, not a plugin. Figuring I could have crossed a data line to a power line or something stupid, I decided it needed more testing before paying shipping for an RMA. I also defraged the hard drive with the 32 bit OS which was badly fragmented for a brand new install for some reason. This seemed to help a lot, but it still BSODs sometimes during boot. I'm just really puzzled. MEMTEST runs fine on the system which also checks L1 and L2 cache on the processor which I thought might be an issue. I would really like to know what is causing this. Even if it is the motherboard, I should be able to figure out what area of the board is having the problem. And if it is a flakey motherboard, while only BSOD during boot? One other note of interest, I uinstalled the nvidia drivers (latest as of 5/6/05) and reinstalled drivers which were supplied with the motherboard. Although I have only rebooted a few times since doing this, it hasn't BSODed since.
Questions I would like to have answered...
Q: Are the latest drivers from NVIDIA ok to use with this MSI board?
Q: Does New Egg sell refurbished junk?
Q: Are MSI motherboard high quality or just a bunch of hype?
Q: Has anyone ever heard of a machine that only BSODs during boot but passes all hardware tests with flying colors? -

Blue Screen freeze on iBook G4?
I am posting kind of as a last resort considering the fact that it's going into a holiday weekend, so if I have to take it in it'll have to wait until next week.
Anyway I have a iBook G4 1.2 GHz, with 512MB RAM (256 internal, 256 user slot) with now a 100 GB hard drive. About a week ago I was using the computer in the afternoon around 3pm (everything seemed to operate normally), and when my wife went to use it that night around 9:30pm and it had frozen up. The mouse and keyboard wouldn't respond, so I reset using the power button. After the reboot it seemed OK for about 1-2 minutes then I got a kernel panic. So I rebooted again thinking that maybe a software update might be in order since it was Leopard at the time. The software update downloaded the software then froze upon installing the updates. At this point I was unable to get the computer to respond. I tried a Tiger disk, and the computer would not start from the disk. I also tried the usual things such as resetting PRAM, safe mode (didn't work) resetting the PMU, open firmware, verbose mode (freezes here too), single user mode (which didn't indicate any problems) I then hooked it up in Target Disk Mode on an iMac 800 f/p and was able to get access to the drive, so I zeroed out the drive attempting to clean out any residuals that may have been there. I reinstalled the OS via Disk Utility Restore, and Carbon Copy Cloner as I have an image of the computer on the iMac. All of which resulted in the same result booting to the blue screen and freezing. I then used the System Restore disk to see if that would work with no luck. However the Apple Hardware test did work, which ran successfully after 2 run throughs, but I could get nothing else to work. Reading through these forums and other places it seemed that it might be a RAM or Hard Drive issue. I removed the user RAM chip with no luck. So I thought a hard drive replacement might help so I spent several hours this past Sunday replacing the hard drive. Upon returning home I attempted to reinstall Tiger which it booted up the disk nicely and started the install. It got to installing the printer drivers and froze up during the HP drivers. Upon rebooting I was unable to get it to read the disk. After having the flu the past couple of days I attempted to tackle it again today, I was able to install Tiger via Target disk mode onto the computer from the iMac, and upon completion it booted up on the iMac screen beautifully and seemed to be working correctly. I then rebooted both computers, and the iBook froze on the blue screen again. I tried all the tricks again, and it didn't respond. I then reset the PMU and it booted up to the desktop with a message saying that the clock was reset. I shut down so that I could test the stability of the problem, and started it up again about 5 minutes later, and it logged right in and got the the desktop. Upon running Software Update the computer froze again, and I am unable to get it back to the desktop.
So my question is, any other ideas? Could it be the internal RAM chip? Could it be the logic board? Apple Hardware tests are still showing that everything is passing.
Just a quick recap of the steps that I have taken.
Reset PRAM
Reset PMU
Attempted safe mode
Single-user mode reported no errors
Attempted verbose mode
Tried TechTools Pro
Tried DiskWarrior
Zeroed out drive
Reinstalled OS
Attempted Software Restore from CD
Ran Apple Hardware Test (passing everything)
Replace 60GB hard drive with new 100GB drive
Reinstalled OS
Reset PRAM/Single-user/Verbose/Safe/PMU again still getting frozen blue screen
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd Ernst

Sorry to hear your problems continue. All companies stop at board level replacement, we go a lot deeper here .
I was looking over your posts tonight, both here and at the bottom of that other thread. I'm beginning to think that you have a bad Mobility Radeon 9200. There is a known failure rate on this chip. I actually have a 1.2 GB 12" logic board with a bad reballed 9200. I shouldn't have reballed it because I could never get any video out of it especially with the shim repair. Luckily like I reported on that other thread this chip is used in a lot of GPUs. It's a ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 4x AGP. I think I have a list if you're interested.
I lucked out since I was trading with someone who had bought a 1.2 thinking it would work in his 1.33. It didn't so he traded it to me for a digital camera I had repaired. I dropped it in the 1.2 12" and ta dah! My wife uses that one now.
This might sound a little stupid, but when I put the logic board back in I didn't apply any thermal paste because there was no residue from a previous application .. pads stuck to the heatsink which I assumed were acting in place of the thermal paste.
One thing I did notice on these G4s is that those 2 mounting studs have failed on one iBook I worked on. That would result in a bad contact with the heat sink. Superior corrected this when he reballed it.
Also you're right those pads on the chips are thermal transfer pads. I think they're silicone based. The problem with paste is that it tends to thin out with heat and loose contact with the heat spreader. Here's what the manual says about those pads:
"Replacement Note: Any time the heatsink is removed or a replacement heatsink is
to be installed, make sure new thermal pads are applied in the following orientation:
• Small rectangular pad at the upper end of the thermal plate
• Largest pad in the middle of the thermal plate
• Square, medium-sized pad at the lower end of the thermal plate"
eMail me if you want to read this for yourself.

How can I get my iPhone 4 factory unlocked?
Hi, I just bought an iPhone 4 from a dude on Craigslist. I don't have AT&T (never had it in the past either), and was hoping that I could unlock it for T-Mobile. It is running iOS 5.1.1, and the 04.12.01 base band. So, who can I go to so that it coul
