I have had the KT3-Ultra 2 RAID for a few months now and have had no problems. But last night i went to a LAN Party and when i got back today and hooked up my computer and turn it on it would not boot. Nothing come up on the screen. When i turn it on the 4 lights in the back light 1&2 are red and 3&4 is green. I got it to come on once and it said cmos dump or somthing plesea enter set-up i did and had to reset the time and date and everything and reset and would not come back on blank screen (no singal) I changed the cmos battery still nothing. I took at all cards and hard drives and just put in cpu and RAM and video card and turned it on still nothing. Monitor still says no singal and i check cables and everything they work fine. Anyone have any ideas ??????

Hi sorry to but in! but where on earth are you moderators getting your info for PSU's from!
30A on 3.3V!  I have an Antec case which isn't a cheap peice of crap and that only outputs 20A on 3.3V.
I had a look on the Antec site and even their Truepower 430Watt case only outputs 28A, and this PSU costs over £70.
You never get good PSU's & cases from shop bought machines from highstreet chaines, and they manage to power the mobo and gf4 cards okay?

  • New MSI KT3 Ultra 2 Raid Board Install

    Hi All
I have Just installed a new KT3 Ultra 2 Raid board and XP 2000+ CPU with 512MB Memory.
Problem is that since I installed this new Board CPU and memory my PC has been playing up a little, Mainly Adobe Premier 6.5 . The audio that I capture will not playback off the time line, but I can hear audio from the timeline on stuff I have downloaded from the web. Also Get weird message boxes pop saying that PC Alert or Fuzzy Logic are already loaded (buggered if I can find Fuzzy logic).
ALso CPU XP2000+ what is the operating speed of this Chip? I thought it was 1.6ghz, on boot up my PC claims it is running at only 1.2ghz.
Am I wright in saying that I need to totally reinstall everything fro scratch including win XP?
(sorry just put new board etc in on old install, slap wrist)

    Hi tazman,
It's not quite obvious from your explanation, but did you just install your new mobo, CPU and RAM without reformatting your Hard Drives and reinstalling the o/s?
If so, this is a big no-no. This can cause all sorts of headaches for you and you are lucky that your computer is able to run at all. First things first, backup all of your important data files, then reformat your entire hard drive(s) from scratch, ie fdisk to get rid of all partitions, re-establish your partitions, then format away.
Once this is done, you can reinstall your o/s, your updates, drivers and applications, etc. Not a particularly invigorating job but necessary I'm afraid. It all comes back to the UPnP activities where the o/s and your hardware become very much intertwined. All the best and have fun,  :D
    All the best,
    Dimal.

  • MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU Raid + XP

    Hi,
I have just built a new system using the MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard and am having issues instaling Windows XP professional.
The system has been set with 2 Maxtor HD on Raid 0 Stipping.
On installing Windows XP and Raid Driver 2.0 that comes with the board, XP continues to load the files needed for setup, while in this process it will have a read/copy error. As much as you retry it will not read. This happens on different files each time I try to install and is not a bad CD.
    Any suggestions ?

You can have a look at my hardware below...
    Chassis: Antec 1080B (300w PSU / 180w COMBINED)
    Mainboard: MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    Display: ABIT Siluro GF4 Ti4200 AGP 4X
    DVD/CD-RW Combo: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4120B
    Floppy: Panasonic 1.44MB
    HD: Quantum Fireball Plus/AS 30.0GB UDMA 100
    Keyboard: Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
    Monitor: KDS Visual Sensations VS-190
Mouse: Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical
    NICs: 3Com 3C900B / DLink DFE-530TX
RAM: Micron DDR 266MHz (2x256MB DIMMs)
    Sound: Avance AC'97 Audio
I've had similar problems where my system becomes very unstable at higher bus speeds. Installing Windows XP simply didn't work very good. However, I have ordered a new PSU today as a solution to this problem. Basically, CPUs and video cards are much more demanding and the more devices you have in your computer the more power you're going to need. I recommend purchasing the Enermax EG465P-VE (FCA) 450W ATX PS. It has a higher amperage rating and will most likely solve your problem.
Check your PSU and your bus speed settings...

  • KT3 Ultra 2 + BF1942 problems

Hi guys, this is a question for anyone out there that has the KT3 ultra 2 and have tried playing Battlefield 1942.  The rest of my specs are:
    1900+ XP processor
    256MB ram
    radeon 7500 LE 64MB DDR
    cable modem
The trouble is choppy game play.  This occurs in single player mode as well as multi-player so I wouldn't really call it lag.  In single player, most of the time the game starts out really choppy but smooths out within a few minutes and is fairly decent for the rest of that map.  Multi-player is worse.  It's very rare that I can connect and play without lag or a choppy frame rate even with ping times of around 60.  It's very frustrating and I know from reading EA's forums that I'm not the only one experiencing this.  I'm wondering though if there is anything I can do with my setup to make things better.  I disable my firewall and anything else running in the system tray before playing with no luck.  Any suggestions?

I enabled sound hardware acceleration from within the game.  I'm not sure if it made much of a difference or not.  It seemed to be a bit better though.
The bad thing is that I had 3 spontaneous reboots while playing the game spaced about 1 hour apart.   :( I did change the memory timings in the bios.  I set SDRAM freq to HCLK+33 (I've got 2700 memory).  It was set to SPD.
I also set "PCI Delay Transaction" to disabled, it was enabled.
So I'm not sure which of these changes, if any, caused the reboots.  The strange thing is that it only seems to be a problem while playing BF1942.  I've left the PC on for a few hours doing nothing or web surfing and I've not had any reboots.  Microsoft's error reporting thinks it's a device driver error, but doesn't know which one.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • KT3 Ultra oem FSB problems

I just got my KT3 Ultra (oem) and AMD Athalon XP 1800 yesterday and procided to throw my new machine together. I was a little dissapointed when I booted up and could not get the board to report the correct CPU frequency (1.1 ghz as opposed to 1.5 ghz) no mater what I did. Looking through the fourms I noticed a few other people where having the same problem. Well I finally got it to work after banging away at it for a few hours, so I thought I'd post what I did, and hopefully help a few people out. It was actully kind of weird... 1st set the FSB jumper on the mobo to your correct FSB settings, then go into the bios and frequency settings. Now your FSB should be reading whatever you set it to on the board.... now for the weird part... go into the freqency selector window, and even if the FSB is set to the correct speed delete it and type it back in... I don't know if this'll work for you, but it certenly did for me..... weird.

    Hi,
    The non-OEM KT3 boards don't have jumpers.

Anyway... Midiman Support told me that maybe the pops and clicks are because the card is installed on a virtual irq. (after they sugested an increase of the dma buffer size)

  • KT4 Ultra Promise Raid Problem

    Hi,
I recently purchased a KT4 Ultra board to replace a K7T 266 board. After connecting my RAID 0 array to the 40pin IDE RAID controller on the new board, I was surprised to discover that only one hard drive was recognized. I tried every jumper combination, even iterating through ones I knew would be invalid. I switched cables, and I even tried a different hard drive. Since the two Serial ATA connectors naturally only support one drive, I would hope that some errata in the BIOS would not cause the old 40pin connector to only allow one drive. Who knows.. that was my only guess, as I've tried everything I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

ide 3 acts like a sata channel and will read one drive only
as it says on boards page you need at least one sata drive for raid
you cheapest option is 2x sata convertors
abit make them and sig do as well
i say 2 as i would not have one sata one ide in raid myself

  • KT3 Ultra 2 CPU Problems

This probably sounds like I'm a moron, but this is the first problem I've ever had with a motherboard.  I built my friend a computer using the KT3 Ultra2 with an AMD 1900+.  When it boots up it only registers at 1.2Ghz.  The FSB is running at 100 MHZ instead of what it should be which is 266.  I dont know how to get it to run at 1.6Ghz(which i think is what the 1900+ is).  Also, the DDR is running at what it should be at 333MHz.  Could anybody help me please.  Thanks a lot.

  • Kt3 ultra 2 & 29160 problems...

i recently added scsi-160 to my system that was running perfectly.  I have added this card to many dell systems and it was even in my gateway NS7000 server.  The problem is that when i put the card in, for some reason the promise RAID bootup screen doesnt show up anymore.  And in windows and linux I dont have any of my drives, probably because it doesnt load the raid information into memory or something.  I have the RAID option under "integrated peripherals" turned on and both IDE channels are turned on as well.  When I take the card out, it pops up again.  Is there an imcompatibility with the promise raid and the adaptec 29160 card?  I would like to use both as I have a 400 gig stripe set with all my information on it (games, mp3s, documents, etc etc) and then I have my new 15,000 rpm scsi 160 drive I want to run my OS off of...  any help is greatly appreciated.

  • KT3 Ultra Computer Starting Problems

I'm currently putting together an XP 2100.  The computer will be start for like 3 seconds and shut off...no real big response.  I have taken it out of the case and tried again because I thought that one of the screws were shorting the board out.  Brought it out, set it up again, and same thing.  Took out the RAM to just check other random things, and got a beeping out of the board for 5 seconds and then shut off by itself again.  I am running out of options.  Never had a problem like this.  Anyone have any idea's?  Thanks!

    Bas-
You know I looked at it, and I didn't actually mount the chip to the motherboard, it came like that from the person that bought the parts.  So I took it off, sure enough mounted totally the wrong way.  Can't believe I didn't even check that out.  HA!  So in the process now of fixing it.
Well, CPU cooler is now mounted properly.   However, still same problem.  Computer turns on for like 5 seconds and auto-shuts off.  I'm thinking bad powersupply or bad motherboard at this point.  Any other suggestions?

Setting the multiplier to 9 or above: no problem.
My CPU is an Athlon 1400 and its L1 bridges are "factory unlocked".
How could I fix this issue?
    Many thanks.
Not that this may help, but years ago I had an old Pentium 2 that had its multiplier locked when going above its default, but unlocked when going below its default multiplier.  It came this way from the factory. Pretty good FSB overclocker, btw.... :]   Later I found that Intel had changed this and subsequent P2's came from the factory locked in both directions.
Might it be that the cpu is not as "unlocked" as you've been led to believe?  Just a thought.  A way to prove this one way or the other I think would be to try it in another motherboard.
Well, I don't think this is the same kind of issue because I used this Athlon 1400 with any multiplier on an ABIT KT7A before buying this MSI KT3.
