  • MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU power supply problem

    Hello !
I am a lucky owner of MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard but have one problem. My power supply Fortron (FSP Group) 300-GT 300W seems to have some kind of incompatibility with this motherboard. In my case, the computer can't be shutted down by software. With BIOS version 2.5 it was impossible to shut it down with button too. With 2.6 it is possible to turn the computer off by button but software shutdown still don't work. PSU is working on ALL other boards I have tested so far normally. Somewhere in discussions (not in this forums) I discovered that also some kind of weird sounds occurs with Fortron supply on this board and that it is incompatible. Have anyone some clues to solve this PSU problem ? I am not able momentally to buy some other kind of PSU because Fortron is the only brand from higher category to obtain, so I would be like to solve this.....
    Thanks for any info !

PSU is powering Athlon XP 1700+ processor, the other big power consumer is GeForce4 Ti 4200 GPU. I am not able read currents for specific voltage outputs, so I am not able to measure whole power consumption. Computer is working normally, it is NOT overclocked (but it is stable overclocked too) and the only problem is PSU shutdown by software (win & linux, both of them has this problem). From BIOS v2.6 it is possible to shutdown the computer by power button. If it is tried by software, computer resets itself and three beeps occurs.

  • PORTEGE T3600CT: Blinking power LED

Hi everyone (forgive me by my english).
I have a trouble whit my PORTEGE T3600CT (yes, a little bit oldie... but I love her) when its connected to the AC power supply.
It looks like an overheat of the microprocessor or something else: after a few minutes (5, 15, 30... its never the same) the computer shoots down, the power led turns orange and blinks 4 times in aprox. 5 seconds and then remains off for 3 seconds. That is the cycle: 4 blinks, 3 seconds off, 4 blinks...
I dont know what it means, cause I dont have the manual. If someone knows, please help me.
    Thank you all.

About blinking code I can only tell you that as far as I know this kind of information is not published and you will not find any official site about it. Only thing you can do is to search some information on the net.

  • WRT54GS wireless drop and Blinking Power-LED (V6, 1.52.5)

Hi all, Trawling several pages with people mentioning dropping wireless connectivity, I didn't notice a symptom I've noticed on mine: since the troubles started I've got the router located very close by (as in less than 3 feet/ 1 meter). One thing I happened to notice that every once in a while the Cicso loge and Power LED start blinking: connectivity is completely gone, also wired. After some time (30 sec?) the lights come on again and connectivity is restored. I haven't noticed any correlation (yet) to wireless connectivity, but it's quite irritating. Anybody any ideas?

well sounds like you have a defective device.....
tried reflashing firmware, if still not working, try calling Linksys and get an RMA #

  • Slow Blinking Power LED

My system is pretty stable, it can run memtest and prime95 for days without a problem.  but very randomly it will sometimes just completely power off but the power LED will blink very slowly.   sometimes it will go months without this happening, and sometimes it will happen several times in one day.  I've noticed that sometimes it happens when i bump into the system.
at first i thought something was shorting it out, like when it moved.  but i carefully reinstalled the mobo and checked everything, and i can't find any problems.  I can't reproduce the problem at all, so i can't seem to solve it.  Any ideas appreciated.

In that you've had the board out and back in, you've checked all the obvious items like loose ide and power cables, memory is firmly seated into the slots, your case back doesn't prevent the video card from being fully seated?  Those kinds of things?

  • E3000 blinking power LED

    Hello,
Today my e3000 router just stopped working, its power LED is blinking and I cant access its setup page.
Is this fixable or is it dead?

Hi agjurich. You can try doing another reset. This time, please press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Release the button and unplug the router.  Plug it back in and check the lights.
Another method to try would be to assign a static IP to the computer. You may assign the following:
    IP address : 192.168.1.20
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
    DNS  : 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
Once set on the computer, hardwire the same computer to the router and ping the IP address of the router.
You may check this link on how to do the ping test,
    http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=1c771bda3da742b687356adb9a5c9c1a_Pinging_the_Links...
If the router responds,  by giving you 4 replies, then you may still be able to make it work. If it doesn't, then it's really time to buy  a new one.

  • MSI K8N Neo blinking power led?

    Okay.. so..
I just upgraded my system with the mobo mentioned above and an AMD Athlon 64 3200+.
I wanted to test some different some different linux systems that do 64 bits.. so, first i try gentoo and then debian-amd64 (both are text based/curses based installs).
The installs go great.. but when i finish up and install X the system halts and the power led starts flashing.
I suspect that X might be pushing my power supply to the limit (for windows users.. X is a graphical interface to linux;)
So, should i go to my store and buy a new PS?
If so, can you recommend any, or any specs of the PS?
    Any replies are appreciated.

You will have to make a bootable floppy with the latest bios here is MSI web page maybe this will help you http://www.msicomputer.com/support/bios_result.asp.

  • [SIS Series] 66FM2 Mainboard - Blinking Power LED? Why??

I searched and found a vagiue reference to an underpowered power supply.   I have a new Ultra 500 Watt ATX supply!  How can this be?
    Information Please!

Quote from: blazing storm on 26-October-05, 00:29:50
What is the exact spec of that power supply?
Please post details found on side of power supply.
A power supply isn't just about the wattage, the + rails are VERY important. You need to post your system details so we know whether the power supply is up to the job too. Post it as a signature (in your profile).
Well, then, therefore,  is the blinker for the Power Supply???
    500W ATX Supply:
    Steady State current: - 10A
    Cold Start Current - 50A
    Efficiency - 70%
    +5 = 30A max...
    +12 = 34A
    +3.3 = 28A
    -5 = 0.3A
    -12 = 0.8A
    +5VSB = 2A
Peak Surge Current = 15 sec
    Max out Watts = 480W
Voltage Hold Up Time = 10ms

  • Axis 945GM + Blinking power led - Bad PSU?

    Hello there...
Around one month ago we put together an Axis 945GM - based (mini-itx) system, and it has been used in an office environment since then.
Last week this PC refused to start after being off overnight, and apparently -I didn't see it- the only thing going on was a blinking led on the case. There was no hard drive noises, no fans running, etc. One of my co-workers tried disconnecting the mobo, re-seating it, etc., to no avil. Finally he connected a standard ATX power supply to the mobo and it started working correctly, so the only part to blame should be the PSU, right?
Well... Today I decided to test the PSU before sending it back to MSI and, lo an behold, the PSU seems to be working again... So now I have an RMA but a working PSU. But I'd like to know what on earth that blinking light. Should I assume that the PSU is bad anyway and send it back?
    Thanks,
    JR

Yes I have seen this with the K9MM-V, its very annoying, for some reasom a certain PSU will not like the board but work with others.  I would just RMA the whole book PC.

  • T420s No power, blinking power Led - won't boot

My 2 months old T420s declines to boot since this morning.
After pressing the Power-Button it starts to alternatingly flash the Power-Button light and the fingerprint reader LED.
Nothing else happens, no fan starting to run or anything else.
I haven't changed anything since yesterday when it booted with no problems.
Does anyone know what this could be?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    All,
For this particular scenario, it is most likely the system board.   It is probably still a good practice to pull the battery and AC and try to reset by pressing and holding the power button several times, for several seconds each time, and then re-attaching AC and try to restart.
If the symptoms remain, please contact service for assistance.

  • New kt3 ultra - no power

I'm on my second kt3 in a week.  I can't get it to power up!  It acts like a bad power supply but it worked find for the old motherboard.  I'm only connecting what I need to power up.  I added 512mb PC 2700 memory, 800MHz AMD Tbird and geForce3 Ti400.  No monitor, keyboard, floppy, CDROM, hard drive, etc. etc.  I connected power supply and power switch to mainboard.  Also cpu and case fans to power supply.  I epected fans to come on and maybe some beeping.  Nothing but faint humming from power supply.  Connecting monitor did nothing either.  Any ideas before I try old motherboard and/or new power supply?  I'm have a 300W power supply and case from 3dcool.com BTW.

Are you saying the case fans attached to the PSU are not even spinning up?  If so then its possible you either
    Shorted something out
Didnt turn on the PSU power switch
    Have a dying PSU possibly
    Anyhow, please do two things
    1. Please read the Computer Hardware Installation Guide located here   MSI Computer Building Guide Be sure to check each of the steps in the guide with your installation steps
    2. Please elaborate more on the nature of your problem.  As in did you make sure you werent putting the ATX 20 pin power connector on backwards?  And do the case fans attached directly to the PSU spin up?
Again, check your steps with the Guide and post bac when you can.  thanks

  • Blinking power led on WRT54G2 v1

I'm having a lot of problems with my new wireless router, and I could use some help. I'm on a Macbook Pro, OS 10.6.1. I bought the router two weeks ago, and it worked well for several days, until I noticed that the power light was flashing, and I couldn't connect to the internet. I unplugged the router, and the next day when I turned it back on it worked again. The power light started flashing again two days ago, and I haven't been able to get it to work again since. After checking this website, I attempted to update the firmware according to these steps: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=f86d36feaf7945ae83456e5112d39a14_KB4573_EN_070207_v1.xml&pid=9&slnid=8
but when I updated the firmware nothing seemed to happen.  I can see the downloaded zipped file, but when I attempt to unzip it nothing happens.
I also tried to reset the router manually- it didn't seem to work. I'm unsure what steps I should be taking to get this back on track. I'm feeling very frustrated that this new piece of equipment stopped working so soon after buying it. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

Are you not able to access the router's web configuration utility at 192.168.1.1?  That's normally from where you would perform the firmware upgrade.
But with the router being only two week old, you should promptly return it to where you bought it for a replacement.

  • Blinking power led WRT54GS

I am finding out I have problems with my firmware, however when I go to reload the firmware I get the message "Unable to find the server".  I have downloaded the correct version (v4) of firmware updates for my router.  I have reset the router for 30 seconds and followed the instructions step by step for reloading the firmware.  I have also entered the default static IP address manually in my computer.  I believe I have all the cables plugged in correctly (Currently, I have to go directly from my modem to the computer to get online).  When I try run the update, I am plugging the modem into the router and then the router into the computer tower prior to running the tftp.exe file.   When I click on the upgrade (with the appropriate server IP, password admin and bin file), it tries 3 times, however I keep getting the message "Unable to find the server".  Any suggestions??

    That figures
When you do a tftp upgrade make sure you're connected to the router and not to the modem. And make sure only these two devices are connected, that way your firmware upgrade won't go bad.
Also, even after isolating your pc and your router, you still get that same error message, go to the command prompt and do an ipconfig. You might have a different default gateway IP. IF however you do have the correct one, try to ping it first. No sense forcing a firmware upgrade if you can't even ping the router's ip address.

  • Power LED off, all others on - WRT54G

    Hello everyone.
My WRT54G was in the middle of working correctly when it dropped all connections.  The power LED is now off and all of the link lights are permanently illuminated, even with nothing plugged into those ports.  The ethernet LED is also continuously lit.  Windows reports "limited or no connectivity" on computers attached to the router in its current state.
I've tried power-cycling several times and I've tried to use the reset button, albeit for only 5-10 seconds after power-up.  The results are the same - no power LED and everything else lit up.
Is there anything I can try to resurrect my router?  There seems to be a lot of information on blinking power LEDs, but not much on one that's off with the rest of the LEDs fully illuminated.
Thanks for the help, and if there's a previous article I can use for reference I would gladly take that as well
    Thanks,
    Zeke

    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
If still the same light status .........then i think router is gone bad ....
