Kt3 ultra onboard sound microphone fix

Was there ever a fix for the kt3 onboard sound microphone problem. I have trawled through the forums for an hour now and all I can find is complaints and no fixes?
Can someone point me in the direction of the fix if there is one!
cheers gazrat

Thanks for the speedy reply guys.
What the question initially intended to ask was if
the onboard sound card allowed me to play games
with full surround sound support using eax/dolby.
I assume the answer to this question is no.
With regards to playing DVDs, yes I can get the 6
channel sound, and the speaker test in the tray
confirms this.
But as I don't really watch DVDs on my computer,
and use it more for games and work, I assume I
have to get a SB Live or some sort to actually get
eax/dolby support within games. Is this correct?
Thanks again.

Does the KT3-ultra's onboard sound card support eax
or dolby surround? Cos I can't seem to get any games
to use the left/right rear speakers at all.
Such games include warcraft 3 and counterstrike.
Running the latest drivers from avance, and using
    windows 2000 Professional.

  • KT3 Ultra onboard audio

I have bought KT3 Ultra 3 days ago. There's problem with onboard sound codec. Testing of speakers in 2, 4, and 6 speaker mode in sound driver settings doesn't work - when I click on any speaker it does nothing. But the major problem is very unpleasant crackling coming from speakers when playing for example mp3's.
If this sound chip or driver for it provided by MSI is so bad, I will probably switch to ASUS.
    Can someone help ?

My 1st two questions would be....
     1) What OS are you running
     2) Are you using the audio drivers that came with the
           MSI CD?- if so, UPGRADE!
... assuming your sound is enabled in the BIOS, if you're running Win98 (gold) you'll be installing the Virtual Device Drivers (VXD)- which is a bad thing! You will want to verify that you have the WDM drivers installed. Also, the newer audio drivers on MSI's web site are much improved over the one that came with the CD. Personally, I think the onboard sound is pretty sweet!

  • Kt3 ultra no sound

I JUST BOUGHT A KT3 ULTRA 6380E SERIES MOTHERBOARD AND AN AMD XP 2000 NO PROBLEMS WITH BOOTING UP BUT AFTER I INSTALLED ALL DRIVERS I, I HAVE NO PREFERRED PLAYBACK DEVICES FOR SOUND. SPEAKERS ARE PLUGED IN RIGHT AND IN THE RIGHT JACK. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME. I HAVE ALSO USED STANDOFFS ON THE BOARD TOO! X(  ;(

Maybe you would like to try some of Micro$oft Win updates... it sometimes help, but before that double check everything in the System Hardware, check also for conflicts
You don't say what Win version you have...

  • KT4-Ultra-Onboard sound problems

I bought my KT4 Ultra in September and I've heard some talk about being defective. Just to start off by saying that for it may be my problem.... Anyways, I'm having problems with my onboard sound. When I play music, my sound kinda stutters. To best describe it, my sound doesnt skip or anything, but every now and then i hear an extra "drum beat" in my music where there shouldn't be. Please post if you know anyhing about it. Thanks.

    Thanks Vatoloco
I know my problem doesnt have anything to do with ripping or the software. All I knowis that the problem is with either my motherboard or something involved indirectly...
Anyways, to help you out, thry using different software and see if that's the problem. If not, try unplugging all your IDE cables and audio cable in ur case and reconnecting for you might have a bad connection. Lastly, check out your cd drive.

  • MSI kt3 ultra aru sound problems

i have this board (kt3 ultra aru) and i can't make the center/sub outputs on the audio bracket to work.
the rear outputs are ok, but center/sub... dead. I only have that channels when I don't use the bracket.
Is my bracket damaged? or maybe a software related issue?

Why not try to reinstal drivers and check for new ones if any  )

  • KT 4 Ultra onboard sound

On the KT4 Ultra 6590 mobo that I have is it possible to connect the digital or analogue SPDIF output to a Dolby Digital Receiver and get 5.1 or 6.1 or whatever surround my Receiver is capable of decoding. I do not like the idea of using PC speakers for Dolby Digital surround (I would firstly have to buy some), I would prefer to use the speakers connected to my Dolby Digital Receiver.
    Thanks

Yes you can do it cause Im doing it and have done it with KT3 ULTRA. I have Yamaha TSS-1 and connected SPDIF(this output is digital you cant get analogue output from SPDIF) and I can use DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS options. And the answer to your question is a big YES. If you make your configuration right it must work. What reciever are you using by the way?

    Hello!
Have you tested your hearing?   Sorry!
I got a Tbird too, of the 100 kind. There is also a 133 kind. Which is yours?
Has it always been like this, that is, have it ever worked? Normally sound problems are Windows related, but this was odd.
Is there good contact for the speaker cable? Try jerking it a bit, in and out?
Any error messages in Device Manager? Could try - again - uninstalling current driver, reboot to enter SafeMode and reinstall.
Here is an advice from the Internet: "You are probably using a mono plug for stereo speakers. Either that, or the driver may not be loading correctly. On some systems, if your sound card drivers are not loaded in CONFIG.SYS, you will only have left-side sound." http://www.5starsupport.com/faq/sound.htm#1-5

  • Kt3 Ultra 2, with onboard sound problems

I'm just getting my new motherboard set up, and when i install the drivers for the onboard sound, I'm only getting the sound effect, equalizer and general tabs in the option screens, according to the manual I'm supposed to have speaker configuration and test tabs as well, without this, I cant use the rear connections for 5.1 audio, which makes my surround system pointless.
I have tried the new sound drivers from this site, but when I try to run it, the installer comes up with "alcxwdm.inf not found", and stops dead. The rest of my system is Athlon XP2000+, win 98, 40Gb Seagate drive, Creative DVD drive, and Dxr3 DVd decoder card.

Damn, so I'll have to put my SBLive 1024 card in, which will run ok, and have only 4 channels, which is actually inferior to the onboard sound (supposedly having 6 channels), of which I can only get 2, Great!
All of which doesnt tell me why the updated drivers wont install at all, and this is happening just when I want to use windows apps, havent tried dvd yet, no point if I cant get the rear plugs to output, until I put sblive in... DOH!

  • Unable to make microphone to work on NVIDIA MCP55 onboard sound card

    Hello.
Some time ago, I bought a nice HP xw9400 Workstation (with Dual Core AMD Opteron  2216) from Germany. Despite it's starting to become old by today's standards for some stuff like gaming, it's still quite okay to use and the SAS HDD makes it boot fastly. And it has one of the best cases, you can plug PCI/PCIe/PCI-X cards very easily and it's very nice to change or add HDDs. Maybe I'll upgrade the CPUs (I can upgrade the bios and it seems it can support better CPUs) if I find them on eBay or other place.
I have less problems with Arch than the rest of distributions, but I still have weird issues. Despite my computer hardware is somewhat old, I still experience weird problems everywhere (it seems I have some kind of weird "luck").
I have problems using my microphone under Arch with "NVIDIA Corporation MCP55 High Definition Audio (rev a2)" onboard sound card , here is the relevant info.

Sorry, that was wrong, I meant
    arecord -l
Have you tried making a virtual loopback device like above and using
    arecord -vv -fdat out.wav
You should see the #### fluctuate as you speak into the mic. If not, then unmute and turn up your mic in alsamixer. That loopback device will allow you to capture your sound card and hear it at the same time. Another way to do it is to use a jumper from line out to line in on your sound device. You won't be able to hear it while you record though.
If your sound device works, then you can capture what's going through it. You'll need to determine which vitual device your mic is.
    Example
    arecord -l

  • Cannot get sound to work kt3 ultra 2c

Hello- I reformatted and installed windows 98 on a friends comp with an ultra 2c ms 6593-it has ac97 sound.  I installed the latest vid drivers for his card and dx9..and then i tried to install the sound drivers from the cd and for some reason the cd doesn't go through an auto set up. i can't even install the sound drivers manually. I went into the bios and it said ac97 was enabled. But there is nothing in windows that shows any sound.the computers sound worked before he crashed it and i reinstalled..i was running out of time so i couldnt look into it further.. is it possible that installing dx9 before the sound drivers could have screwed something up?.. or was something in the bios changed that i am not aware of. He crashed the comp when he tried to put in a modem that might not have been compatable..and i may have changed something when I went into the bios to try and get into safe mode to retrieve some files..
ac97 says 'enabled' in bios but i can't remember if it was highlighted-(changeable)
anyway- im not that experienced in this stuff..any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
    THARN
this system also hangs on startup-doesnt get past 3 grn lights on the back bracket- it starts though if reset is pushed..that doesnt seem good to me.
the system specs as far as i know are:
    msi kt3 ultra 2c(via 333) athlon 1800
    win98/265 mb  ac97 onboard sound
    nvidiage2-64mb card

    Thanks-Hansh
I'm thinking the same thing but the problem is-it's not my computer and my friend said he doesnt want me to re format and redo everything-but there may be no other choice..deep down i think it has everything to do with installing directx9 before the sound drivers...(my mistake -doh)..im going over there today to try everything short of reformat.. ive been reading this entire site and appreciate evryones input from past posts...helps mediocre' compgeeks like me.
    THARN
btw- win 98 was installed- heres the story. win 98 was installed- sound was working vid was working. I transplanted his old modem from his other comp and the connection was slow-was an old v90 and probably not in good shape anyway. so we ordered a new modem and it had an intel chip-(when the drivers were installed-fatal exception to the 100th degree..)so i reformatted and reinstalled everything for him.got a new modem that said amd copatible-everything works except sound..prolly because of the order i put in drivers..gonna see soon enough.

  • KT3 Ultra2-R - Onboard sound volume has reduced

New to this whole posting thing but wondering if someone can help me.
I got a new PC using the KT3 Ultra 2 motherboard with onboard AC97. Installed the Avance driver from the supplied CD. Everthing worked great. I'm just using a pair of speakers plugged into the stereo output at the back. The sound was fantastic using Winamp.
The next day I booted up and the volume has decreased dramatically.
I've checked the volume controls, uninstalled AC97 and reinstalled, got the latest driver from the RealTech site, and still the sound is a lot lower and I have to have my speakers turned up very high to get the same sound I was getting at a medium vol setting the day before.
I have not installed any new games but I had done a Win2K update to service pack three on the first day but the sound had worked fine afterwards.
I'd appreciate any ideas that anybody may have.
    Thanks.
    MJ

    Bas,
    Cheers for the reply.
I checked the mixer settings before i removed and reinstalled the ac97 driver. The Wave bar was where it was before the problem started happening and wasn't muted or anything like that.
And the master vol was at the same level also.
I'm totally baffled. Sound is still good quality, no static, but half the volume has disappeared!
    Cheers,

  • Sound problems with KT3 ultra

    Hello All
    I have a KT3 Ultra, WinXP Pro, LG CD-RW (HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8160B ), 512 Mb DDR Ram etc.
My problem is that when i rip cd's to MP3 i lose all sound. This has happened with Easy CD-DA and Exact Audio Copy.
If I go into AC'97 Audio config all speakers seem to work exept the Front Left and Right. But this seems to stop them all from playing any audio.
Reinstalling AC'97 fixes it but it's a bit annoying.
    Audio driver : 5.10.0.3840
    Audio controller : VIA 3059
    AC97 Codec : ALC650
    Any help appreciated
    upinsmoke

I think i solved it by installing the 5.10.0.4050 drivers.

  • KT3 -onboard sound - win98 problems

Hi all, wonder if anybody can help.
I built a machine a good while back, based on KT3-Ultra, Athlon xp2000, with Win 98 (prefer it to XP), I have always used the onboard sound but with couple of problems. The only drivers that give me any sound were the win95 ones on the setup CD, however I can never change any of the settings and cannot get 5.1 sound. In fact I cant get any options for it up. If I install the win98 drivers, i get all the realtek stuff installed, but sound manager is dead in the system tray, cannot get it to open and I have no sound. This also happens with any of the  drivers I have downloaded off net. so i end up going back to the win95 drivers and 2 point sound. How can I get 5.1 onboard sound to work with this, as I want surround sound for DVD etc. Has anybody got this working with win98, or is there a latest download that can sort me out that i just aint aware off, any help much appreciated, thanks

    This is a wild idea:
Modem and sound (card) often interact, esp. in not so recent systems. Anything to investigate?
The wild idea is that your modem takes over sound control, and can interact with w95 drivers only.
    Suggestions for check points:
    - Enter Device Manager and check under Multimedia for what's it called WMF(?).
    - Is Connexant mentioned in ControlPanel/Sound and.../Sound?
    - What age is your modem drivers?
    - If it is a PCI card modem, you might have a go moving it to another free PCI slot, if you got one.
