Kt3 ultra reboots when 1gb ddr memory is installed
My kt3 ultra mb reboots when more than 1gb ddr pc2100 samsung memory is installed. boots through when 1 512mb ddr is installed or 1 - 512mb ddr - 1 - 256 mb ddr - I want to put all (3) 512mb ddr for a total of 1.5GB but always reboots. Im running 98se o/s. I even tried win2000 and also xp home?? Any suggestions. ?? Please help??
WIN 9X will recognize more than 512 MB ram but doesnt know what to do with it.XP or 2000 should run any amount your board can take. I seem to remember from a forum, either here or AMDMB.com or HardOCP that with this board you should do 2 sticks in the first and 3rd slot. I also seem to remember that this board was one of the few that Anand at Anandtech reviewed that ran ok with all 3 slots filled with memory.I can run my Samsung PC 2700 at cas 2 fast settings with 1T command disabled all day long. With 1T enabled it's reboot city.Double check your settings with the setup sticky at the beginning of this forum.Maybe try other memory? Good luck

Kt3 Ultra reboot problem continued
my old post (last weekish)
Above is my old post. Someone at the end of that thread told me to write down my blue screen stuff before i reboot...so here it is:
I get one of these two usually
Up near the top it says this
"This problem is probably an issue with win32k.sys file
PAGEFAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA_
(further down)STOP:
Crazy stuff 0x00000af0f00a00 etc."
OR
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(further down) *** crazy stuff 0x0x000300b0v00 etc.
***classpnp.sys"
sometimes it won't say eigther near the top....but almost always that's what it says. I just ordered a new Asus A7V333 for 140$ arrg...so I'll probably keep that if I can't fix this problem pretty soon.It seems we have the same problem taraturg. I saw your messages last week, and I have the same bluescreens.
They are like this:
STOP: 0x00000050
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
..........ntoskrnl.exe.....
...beginning dump of physical memory....
STOP: 0x000000D1
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
........v124nt.sys......
.......dump of physical memory.......
I have also run the memtest86 and after an hour or so there was no errors. My CPU temp are stable about 52-54 celcius. I run win2k with the latest updates, the latest bios(v5.6), the latest drivers. Everything you can get(!) And still this ( ) isn't working. What's wrong? -

KT333 - KT3 Ultra MS-6380E CPU FAN PROBLEMS
Yesterday I installed my new motherboard:
Athlon XP2000+
KT333 - KT3 Ultra MS-6380E
256Mb DDR RAM Running at 266Mhz
MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 64Mb DVI TV AGP Graphics
Everything was installed correctly and when I switched on my pc, the bios was reporting CPU FAN not running.
I checked my connection on the motherboard and it was correctly connected up to CFAN1.
After playing around abit, I tried connecting this to PSFAN1 and the FAN started spinning but the problem was still there.
Why does my motherboard Fan on CFAN1 not spin??? But spins on PSFAN1??
When my fan was on PSFAN1 it was also fluctuating but i guess thats because of my PSU which is 230 Watts (which i am going to upgrade today to 300W or 400W.
Also with kit installed how can i set up my bios to run at its best?????!?!?
Please help...
MitsHi,
You probably have a high-speed-fan, and you blown the fan-header of the motherboard....
Fan's like these need to be connected to the powersupply directly and only connect the sensor wire to the motherboard.... -
Hey Everyone,
I have a slight problem, I had recently pruchased a KT3 ultra 2 board and a XP1800+ processor. I had some power supply issues but now I am using a 400 ps that is rated at the amd website. Here is the kicker, I have continually formatted and reinstalled windows xp about 5 times. Whenever I use the system after a clean install it seems to work for a couple of days and then one day I shut it down (using the proper method) and when I turn it on it goes through POST then says "disk error" or there is a file missing from windows. Orginally I thought it was a virus because boot up files were corrupted or missing. But after doing this about 5 times I tried the bios and defaulted everything to factory setttings. The system has not crashed since then, the only problem is that my xp 1800 is now only a 1.1 ghz system. Anyone got an answer for this one???the specs are;
xp1800+

MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU Raid + XP
Hi,
I have just built a new system using the MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard and am having issues instaling Windows XP professional.
The system has been set with 2 Maxtor HD on Raid 0 Stipping.
On installing Windows XP and Raid Driver 2.0 that comes with the board, XP continues to load the files needed for setup, while in this process it will have a read/copy error. As much as you retry it will not read. This happens on different files each time I try to install and is not a bad CD.
Any suggestions ?You can have a look at my hardware below...
Chassis: Antec 1080B (300w PSU / 180w COMBINED)
Mainboard: MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+
Display: ABIT Siluro GF4 Ti4200 AGP 4X
DVD/CD-RW Combo: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4120B
Floppy: Panasonic 1.44MB
HD: Quantum Fireball Plus/AS 30.0GB UDMA 100
Keyboard: Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
Monitor: KDS Visual Sensations VS-190
Mouse: Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical
NICs: 3Com 3C900B / DLink DFE-530TX
RAM: Micron DDR 266MHz (2x256MB DIMMs)
Sound: Avance AC'97 Audio
I've had similar problems where my system becomes very unstable at higher bus speeds. Installing Windows XP simply didn't work very good. However, I have ordered a new PSU today as a solution to this problem. Basically, CPUs and video cards are much more demanding and the more devices you have in your computer the more power you're going to need. I recommend purchasing the Enermax EG465P-VE (FCA) 450W ATX PS. It has a higher amperage rating and will most likely solve your problem.
Check your PSU and your bus speed settings... -
MSI MS-6390LE-L reboots when connecting the internet
Built a new system with the MSI MS-6390LE-L motherboard based on the KM266 chipset and Athlon CPU. It is rebooting when connecting to the internet (installed a SonicBlue Supra PCI modem). Now I read the small print burried in the specs that states: Must use proprietary PCI Modem card with PCTEL solution.
However there is no listing of modems on your site that will work! Does any brand and model PC-Tel chipset modem work, if not then do any CNR modems work?Quote

I had for necessity run PC2100 memory in my KT3 Ultra. I was running 1 256m stick and just upgraded to 2 256m PC2700 sticks. I am getting a config file missing problem and it won't boot. Is there something I need to do to reset the board for the memory? Thanks
I was wondering what CPU you were using as I had an XP2100 till a week ago and I was using DDR 2100. I then upgraded to an XP 2600 with DDR 2700. It work fine for about 24 hours and then I decided to overclock using fuzzy logic and the machine locked up the moment I hit auto. After rebooting the machine wouldn't load windows and I noticed that I was getting a page fault so I decided to try putting the old memory back in and it works fine. The DDR 2700 does not seem to be faulty as it works fine in my brothers system. The other odd thing is that the DDR 2100 is now running at 333Mhz without any problems. Any idea as to why DDR 2700 won't work and DDR 2100 does?

KT3-U2 MSI & DDR memory issues
I Have a brand new 'out'a-the-box' KT3-U2 MSI M.B. that I've never been able to powerup past a boot memory test.
It will not get past the (led D-bracket) memory test [:.]. I've tried (3) different brands of DDR (new) RAM and get same mem test failure everytime.
The memory has all tested good. I've read, and been told, some ugly stories about the KT3u2 board and its quirky dislike for (some?) DDR memory, but no 'concrete' evidence. I've asked MSI (by email) and get NOTHING!
The guys hanging around comp tradeshows tell me to try Samsung DDR's - and I got the same failed mem test with it.
All the simple 0|1|2 wiggle-giggle tricks have been tried.
HELP! Please. What I need is a phone number to MSI or any Tech people who know this board -"hands-on"[/I] -(i'm in So. Florida if it matters).
If that fails, I plead my case to ??who-knows-who?? with MSI, or just junk that $100.00 bucks.
Makes no since. This is the first problem I've ever had setting up an MSI board.....
Question: Have any of you experienced anything like this with (DDR) mem on the KT3-U2? What unconventional tricks did you use to overcome the problem?
Sys:
M.B. MSI KT3-U2 ver. (MS-6380E) - w/VIA KT333
AMD pc2100 Athlon
(2) Samsung 256m DDR PC2700U mem (latest)
New case w/350w. PS (voltages to board ck. good, all else powered up to go).
MSI nVidia g4/MX440-T8X AGP8 (602-8895-040)
Pacific Digital CD/RW
NEC DVD
3.5 Sony diskette
WD 80gig HD
OS WinXPproI don't think the 8X AGP cards maters because i ran a KT333 ultra Aru with Bios 5.7v AMD 2500+ 3x512 of DDR 2700(333) and a GeForce 4 Ti4200 8x 128meg with out any problems. just make sure you use the right Ram slots like, one stick of ram should be in slot #1 and two sticks of ram should be in #1 and #3 for best results.
also for what it is worth: I would remove all hardware from your case and place your mother board on a peice of cradboard then add you ram and processor, video card power and power switch (Don't need hard drive) then turn on power and do you testing like that you will have more space to work in for trouble shooting. Then when you can get into the Bios and set it up the way tou want restart, then power down and then replace your hardware back into your case and load windows or run your windows -
WIN2k, KT3 Ultra Deluxe Board, and Random Reboots
OK.
First off, let me say, the KT3 Ultra board (Deluxe) is a very, VERY nice board, and I love it with all my heart. I'm running Windows 2000 and I get great performance on games, and just all around everything.
But, for some reason, I keep getting random reboots, and I have a hunch it has to do with the 'board.
Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
PNY GeForce 4 TI 4600
MSI KT3 Ultra Board (Deluxe)
512 megs of DDR RAM
Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 2 (all updates)
Maxtor 60 GB HD
Western Digital 60 GB HD
HP CD-ROM Drive
Genuine DVD-ROM Drive
NetGear FA310TX NIC card
SoundBlaster Live!
Any ideas, folks? There can be a lot of reasons why you get reboots, so difficult to point to one thing that will solve it. Your PSU is big, so we can rule out lack of power.
I presume you have fiddled with the BIOS settings? What are your advanced chipset settings? In my experience lockups and reboots are caused by memory problems, so set memory to "by user" and on the slowest setings at first.
My GF4 gave reboots because the AGP slot shared IRQ11 with my networkcard. Relocating the networkcard to another PCI slot solved it. MY GF2 card didn't show this problem. So check if you have shared resources.
Take out all other cards and see if it improves the situation.
Do you have one or two memory sticks. In case of 2, try everything with one stick and also with the other to see if one of the sticks is the problem. -
KT3 Ultra-ARU SB Live! problem when using onboard Promise MBFasttrak 1
Hello !
I have one little problem with my motherboard. I know it's a little bit older compared to today's MSI production.. I have a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard. I used only VT8233A southbridge's IDE until now, and everything worked perfectly. But now, I bought two Maxtor 80GB disks and placed them to a onboard Promise MBFasttrak 133 Lite (PDC20276) RAID in stripping mode. Everything works, except Soundblaster Live!. The soundcard itself works normally, but when I start to copy some files (and have some MP3's or video's running) the audio gets distorted in rythm with data transfer. I checked IRQs or address spaces, but IDE is on another IRQ than any other device, the same is address space. Had anyone the same experience with this "problem" ? Please let me know...
My configuration:
MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
256MB RAM DDR 333
2x Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80.0GB
nVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
ATi TVWonder
RTL8029 ethernet card
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

I think you should install at least the VIA RPP patch (http://www.viaarena.com), maybe also the patch from http://www.georgebreese.com.

[VIA] MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and a MSI FX5900XT 128MB DDR Video Card
Does any body out there know if a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and a MSI FX5900XT 128MB DDR Video Card will work well together?
like the grayone say, is true. for more ensure, try and search the graphic cards support list for your board at MSI (Sorry cause i don,t no is where the site located)
in my opinion, most is compability for your card, when is a AGP slot.
Except the new one like the AGP slot, call AGR( Accelaration Graphic Riser slot) that really need to find a compatibility graphic cards..... -
?( I have KT3 Ultra with 512meg 2x 256 in Sockets 1 and 2.
XP home and Athlon XP1800 I am trying to increase the RAM with another 256 in socket 3.
When there is a module in the 3rd socket the machine will crash. I have tried 3 different memory modules and even taken out the existing memory and swapped modules around but it will still crash. Sometimes it takes a couple of hours to crash and others it will happen on powering up. Today this is what the blue screen message said .
Problem with WIN32K.sys page fault in non paged area
It will crash during any software it doesnt seem fussy
Word, Photoshop IE6 whatever
Anybody have any ideas or advice where to go ?
TIAare all 3 tottally identical maker revision etc
mixed never seem to work
try less agressive ram timmings
some times 3 just will not work is what ive seen
more ram draws more power is a possible reason -
Solaris 8 in ultra 2 got panic and auto reboot when install Oracle software
Dear all,
I installed Solaris 8 by selecting 'Entire Solaris Software Group' and select 32 bit support only in an old ultra II machine. Then I tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 in the same machine but machine always got panic and started auto reboot when Oracle installed about 17% or 20% or even 70% (I tried install the minimum of Oracle).
What is the problem? Anyone can help?
Thanks in advance,
VickyI think you need to check the parameters like SHMMAX etc in /etc/system file as recommanded by oracle if not already added you need to add them .Oracle manuals have a list of these parameters and don't forget to reboot and boot with boot -r after adding these parameters.
Make sure you have sufficient memory or some patch recommanded by Oracle .

Why does my Macbook Pro tell me that I only have 1GB of memory, when I have 2GB?
Hello all, I'm a new user so forgive me if I'm asking something already asked.
I'm looking to download OSX Lion on a 2010 Macbook Pro, 13 inch. When I tried to download it, an error message came up saying that Lion needs 2GB of memory. I checked "About this Mac" and it told me I only have 1GB of memory. I opened up my Macbook, and there are two seperate 1GB sticks inside...call me crazy, but doesn't that mean I have 2GB? I ordered two more 2GB sticks to upgrade myself to 4GB just for the sake of having more memory, but I'm confused and concerned.Try re-seating the sticks.
Trouble shoot, swap the location and monitor the results here:
>About this Mac>More Info>Memory
Is it a bad bank or a bad stick of RAM
or no issue after you more firmly seat the RAM
