Kt3-ultra2 OC.. Plz Help!

Hi all! I need help with overclocking my 1800+ sitting in kt3ultra2 (6380E).
Now it's running @ 2400+ (1920 Mhz) the multiplyer is 11.5, the fsb is 166 Mhz, vcore 1.675. The problem is that i can't use agressive memory settings when the fsb is at 166.. I mean 2.2.6.2 and i can't set the ultra mode too, cause when i change theese settings the pc wont boot again. I need to reset the cmos. And if i put the multiplier higher, 4example 12.0 or the fsb up with even 1 Mhz i get the same result. This is a bit weird, cause the cpu's iddle @2400+ is only 41 Celsius. I heard about oc-ing 1700/1800 up to 2800 Mhz.. and i want to gain the max from this cpu. If somebody has oc-d this mobo please tell me how!
Thanx a lot!

Mine hit the wall at 1920Mhz too until I modded my processor by closing all the L11 bridges.  This defaults the Vcore to 1.85 volts, which you can adjust down to 1.75 if you so chose, but make sure you have VERY good cooling if you run 1.85.  My system in water cooled so I don't have a heat problem.  Processor never gets over 42C full load running 1.85 volts at 11x183.  Your problem if I read correctly is the Corsair ram your using.  It, in my experience with 5 different sticks of XMS PC3200, is utter crap for these boards.  IF you want to get past 166, set your timings to 2.5 3 3 6T 1T command rate disabled and system performance to normal.  I had some old OCZ PC2400 that would run 2 2 2 1T Ultra all day at 152, but this Corsair junk won't even do it at 133.  I can run 10x200 with the memory timings set to 2.5 3 3 6T, but my NIC and Audigy can't handle the resulting 40Mhz PCI bus, so I run at 11x183 without issue.  I noticed very little performance difference in this memory between 2 2 2 and 2.5 3 3. (It was less than 150 points in Sandra and not noticeable anywhere else)  I have only successfully gotten it to run at 2 2 2 timings at 183 for about a 2 day period.  Then I tried to update to the 5.7 BIOS and try a Barton core, didn't work as 5.7 BIOS has a very big issue with Radeon 9700 Pros apparently, and after flashing back to 5.6, I have never again achieved stability at 2 2 2 timings at any FSB above 150 with this Corsair Ram.  A borrowed stick of OCZ PC3700 runs flawlessly at 2 2 2 5T 1T command enabled at 10.5x190 all day long as long as system performance is set to Normal or Fast.  Ultra will not boot above 166 with any memory regardless of the timings.  When I get some free time to mess around with it, I am going to pawn this Corsair crap off on someone who doesn't know better and get some Geil or OCZ.  Just remember that above 166, for every 5Mhz increase in FSB, your PCI bus is going up 1Mhz.  At 37Mhz PCI bus and above (ie 185 and higher FSB)things are going to start getting a littly flaky with your PCI devices and you start running the risk of data corruption.  You have a pretty decent OC already, but I think your going to have to figure out a way to get more Vcore to go any further.  Good luck!!
Good luck.

I have tested the harddrive and the graphic card and they work too. I have tested with my other power supply too but same problem and that is a 300W power supply. But i haven´t tested the CPU because i don´t have another computer to test it in.

  • Help please-USB 2.0 drive only working at USB 1.1 speed (KT3 Ultra2-C, MS-6593)

Help! I have an MSI KT3 Ultra2-C, part no. MS-6593, running WinXP Home.  According to the manual it has six USB 2.0 ports, but I can't get a USB 2.0 external hard drive working at USB 2.0 speed.  The drive is currently connected using the "D-Bracket 2" which the manual says supports USB 2.0.  In my BIOS all USB ports are set to enabled.
The drive was detected by Windows XP, but when it installed I got a warning that it is not connected to a full speed USB port.  The drive is only transferring about one megabyte per second of data, which I'm guessing means it's running at USB 1.1.  When I use Sisoft Sandra to look at my port information, it lists "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" and then three listings for "Via Rev 5 or Later USB Universal Host Controller".   All of my USB devices including the new drive are shown mapped to the "Via Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller"  so the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller" shows no devices connected.   Even though all my USB ports are physically filled, they are all mapping to the "Via Rev 5" controller, which I think is a USB 1.1 controller.  This makes me think if I can somehow force these devices onto the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller, they will work at USB 2.0 speed?  How can I make devices use the right USB 2.0 controller instead of the Via USB 1.1 Controller?
Windows Device Manager looks kind of strange, under USB Controllers it first lists the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller".  Then it lists my USB cable modem, USB printer, and USB hard drive on the following lines.  Then it has several lines that say "USB Root Hub".  Then it has three lines that say "Via Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller".
Please help me get this external hard drive running at full speed...I'm stumped and thought this USB stuff was all plug and play, and expected my USB 2.0 drive to work on this USB 2.0 motherboard.  Thanks for any responses.

Go Here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=357&kind=1 and download the Drivers and the Update. Then go into your device manager and click on the host controller of the USB devices and update driver, then select the drivers that you downloaded and restart your computer. once restarted go back into device manager and make sure that what was once "standard host" controller now shows "Enhanced USB 2.0" controller. Hope that helps.

  • Help...KT3-Ultra2 and Hard drive problems

Hello, I'm new to this board.  I've been having an issue with hard drives lately.   I have an MSI KT3-ultra2 with the latest BIOS version installed.  I recently had a hard drive get completely erased and the actually size of it (10gig) had changed to 1 gig.  Just prior to that I got a corrupted file error in a game I was playing.  (The 10gig HD was a storage drive).  My main drive (Maxtor 40gig) started to clunk and whine and then eventually the computer would lock up hard.  I assumed the HD was going bad and was the cause of all the corruption.  So I went and bought a new WD Hard drive 80 gig.  Had it for about 2 weeks now and now all of a sudden I'm getting a similar clicking noise and a whine and then it locks up on me.  I can only run my computer for about 10 to 20 minutes before it locks up.  I have changed IDE cables to see if they were the cause and that didn't solve the problem.  I've also disconnected all my CD drives and still nothing.  I am going to take a guess and assume there is something wrong with my MB.  IDE controler perhaps?  Can anyone help me with this or confirm my thoughts on the situation?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

May be your powersupply is faulty. Or the memory? try to get it checked

  • KT3 Ultra2 & palomino 2000+ OC problem! Help!

Hi guys, need some help here. I've looked through the forums and the FAQs but I cant get a solution the problem I have. I've been trying to OC my palomino 2000+ but I'm stuck @ 1754Mhz (12.5x140). I've read articles on guys who've hit 1.8Ghz with this processor and that's what I'm aiming for. My CPU is not multiplier unlocked. Here's my basic rigg setup:
    2000+
    512MB Kingston DDR2100 CL2
    KT3 Ultra2 (Non-Raid, no northbridge fan)
    R8500 128MB graphics card
I've tried different settings for memory, but it doesn't seem to help. The problem seems to revolve around my graphics card. When I up the FSB to 144Mhz (1.8Ghz) the pc boots properly into windows and all. I even run memory and cpu benches to test for stability without a problem, but as soon as I run anything that heavily depends on the graphics card e.g. 3dMark, or any game, the system crashes. What could be the problem? I flashed the bios to version 5.7 but it didn't help. And I don't think its the AGP bus coz at 144 FSB the AGP runs @ 72, and my cousins running his 8500 128MB on a bus of 74 w/o any problems. Can the AGP & PCI on his mobo be locked to 66 & 33?
Advice please, any help will be appreciated.

I think is the radeon. For 72 agp you need a good Graphic card. I had the same problem about 146fsb, it didn't past 3DMark test my visiontek GeForce 3. Finally I tried 143 and it was stable.
At 151 or 152 the divisors of the agp&pci change so you can get again 66 at 166fsb.

  • !! Help !! MSI KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380E) No BIOS Prompt!!

Hi Guys, this may be really elementary to you folks, but I want to change the boot order in bios, so that my Acronis True Image boot disc will be recognized, but when I start my machine, there is NO message about pressing ANYTHING to enter into bios.  I've tried delete and esc anyway, to no avail, and I'm about to restart and try F2, but the screens flash past pretty quick, but not too quickly to see that there is NO prompt to enter BIOS at all..... is that expected, problematic??
Can I download a driver or something that will make the "press [ ] to enter setup" or "press [ ] to enter BIOS" prompt appear?
Failing that, is there anyway to force the system into BIOS without a prompt??
My motherboard is MSI KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380E) and the chipset is VIA VT8367 Apollo KT333, if that helps.  I believe that should be all you need to help me out, but tell me if you need anything else, since I have Everest and can probably tell you anything.  In fact, I'll just paste all the info on the motherboard right here:

Are you using a PS/2 or USB keyboard? If USB try a PS/2 KB. Have you tried rapidly pressing 'Delete' right after power on? By that I mean don't immediately hold it down but press & release multiple times.
Good tip about the ps/2 keyboard, not that I've tried it yet, but I will tomorrow after I get my hands on one, and I'll let you know.  Thanks for the tip..... but I wonder, shouldn't it at least TELL me that there exists an option to go into BIOS?  Even if it doesn't there must be some way in I guess, so I'll try this tomorrow.  Thanks again.....

  • BIG problem with MSI kt3 ultra2 Help

    First, hi!
I got a MSI KT3 ultra 2 mainboard (at least it's what it is on my mainboard)
    MS-6380E ver 1.0
i go on the Website.. AND the Kt3 Ultra 2 board, does not look like mine!
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=341
(i have almost the same thing, but without the 2 EXtra IDE,and i dont have a FAN but a MSI DDR orange heatsink) it is wrote the model number in the SAME EXTACT WAY ( MS-6380E ver 1.0 and kt3 ultra2,above),u can see it by checkign the large pic.. And on that page  it say my mobo KT3 ultra 2 support fsb 333
    But
IN my book (my mobo book) it say that my mobo don't support FSB 333 (it is important i just brought a 333 cpu)  so WHAT THE FCK? i checked on the site
    and i found this mobo:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=11
Wich look like mine, and have the specs it got in my book... BUT HOW COME its not  KT3 ULTRA 2 and just a kt3 ultra? (remeber on my mobo its a kt3 ultra2)
Damn , i know its a bit complex.. but to make it short if youve been lost
THE KT3 ULTRA2 SPECS IN MY BOOK (USER GUIDE)ARE NOT THE SAME THAT ON THE WEBSITE, ON THE WEBSITE I WOULD HAVE THE KT3-ULTRA (NOT 2) but when i look on the KT3-ultra the model number.. it's not the same as my mobo...
So i would like to know  Does my mobo support the fsb 333LIKE A KTA3  ULTRA 2 SHOULD DO ? (prolly not,but lets hope)
    thx for yer help

    Maybe it is good news
Hey.. is it normal.. i just noticed that
what is wrote between my PCI slots ( KT3 ULTRA2 ) is kinda wierd
the KT3 ULTRA is in WHITE then just beside there is 2CE in orange
so it make it KTA ultra 2 CE   (but what the CE stand for,and why my 2 and CE are in orange,as if would be a little sticker, but its not,i just checked)
and i saw on this card : THIS
that the 2CE is in white.. thats the only difference with the 2 extra ide.
And if someone could confirm what the guy above stated that it will work even if its a wierdo board at 166 mhz.. thx you

  • USB 2.0 Issues with KT3 Ultra2 6380E

    Windows XP SP1
    Bios: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T
Hi I was wondering if someone could help me?
My machine has six USB ports.  (1&2) Two ports are
installed on the motherboard, and my users guide says
they are legacy ports. (3&4) two ports are installed
on the d-bracket 2 connector: JLED, connected to
JUSB2, these are what I believe to be my only 2 USB2.0
ports. (4&6)Finally 2 ports are connected via JUSB3 to
the front panel of my Antec case. I think the front
panel of my case has 1.1 connectors so it is
    essentially a 1.1 port.
I am having some difficulty getting my USB ports to
function properly with a USB 2.0 Buslink hard drive
UII-40 72E. I suspect there is some IRQ conflict.
Trying to alleviate this I disabled all the device
drivers I suspected might cause this in the device
manager in safe mode.  I then removed from the device
manager all the USB (2.0 and 1.1) root hubs, and after
that their host controllers.  I then booted to VGA
mode (thinking this should disable the video card
drivers??) and exported this IRQ info from my sys info
after the USB host controllers are reinstalled:
    Resource   Device   Status
IRQ 9   Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System   OK
IRQ 11   RADEON 8500 SERIES    OK
IRQ 21   VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host
    Controller   OK
IRQ 21   VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host
    Controller   OK
IRQ 21   VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host
    Controller   OK
IRQ 21   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller   OK
    IRQ 0   System timer   OK
IRQ 8   System CMOS/real time clock   OK
IRQ 13   Numeric data processor   OK
IRQ 12   PS/2 Compatible Mouse   OK
IRQ 1   Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2
    Keyboard   OK
IRQ 14   Primary IDE Channel   OK
IRQ 15   Secondary IDE Channel   OK
IRQ 6   Standard floppy disk controller   OK
Next I attempt to (already plugged into D-Bracket
port) power on my buslink USB 2.0 hard drive.  As soon
as I do the machine immediately goes to a blue screen.
No messages given but numbers are shown. I have screen
shots taking with my digital camera.  I then returned
to safe mode, remove the USB drivers as I did before,
and boot to VGA mode.  Once the USB drivers have been
restored I attempt to power on the bus link hard drive
this time plugged into the onboard legacy ports.  I
can I get another blue screen this time including a
message "IRQL not less or equal", again I have taken
screen shots with my digital camera.I then returned to
safe mode, remove the USB drivers as I did before, and
boot to VGA mode.  Once the USB drivers have been
restored I attempt to power on the bus link hard drive
this time plugged into the front panel USB ports
(4&6).  When I power it on Windows XP warns me that I
have a high-speed USB device plugged into a non
high-speed USB hub. But I receive no error messages.
However I do not exceed the drive through "my
computer". I go through the add hardware wizard to try
and at the drive manually and it says the device is
working properly.  Still I do not see the drive.
Finally I tried installing a Buslink USB 2.0 PCI card
after the above steps. I then returned to safe mode,
remove the USB drivers as I did before, and boot to
VGA mode.  Once the USB drivers have been restored I
attempt to power on the bus link hard drive this time
plugged into the PCI card.  The drive seems to be
recognized automatically by Windows XP however my
system slows to a crawl trying to access any hard
drive.  When I try and access the USB 2.0 hard drive I
get a message something to the effect of "(the drive
    letter) not being recognizable".
Any ideas on what could be causing this? The same
Buslink hard drive works great at work on my Windows
2000 machine plugged into the same PCI card using the same USB cable and power supply. Would any other information be useful?
    Thanks!
    andrew

I first tried installing the VIA4in1 and VIA USB2.0 patch. Then I tried the D-bracket after refreshing the usb drivers (I did not disable all other devices like in my original post, should I have?). Same result, blue screen crash at power on.
Next I disable USB ports in BIOS and install USB PCI card. Then power on the USB HD plugged into card. Same result. Computer slow accessing local drives. When I try to access the USB drive I get a "E:/ is not accessible; the file or data is corrupted or unreadable."
Next I remove the USB card. I enter BIOS and set to "2" ports. Presumably this turns on the USB1.1 ports on the mobo. I return to windows xp. It now seems to install the drivers, but just as it finishes I get a "a problem has been encountered instaaling this device (it has done this before but after finishing I get the blue screen most times). Next I goto the device manager, and in my USB devices I have a USB mass storage device w/ a yellow flag. I goto properties and see a:
"the device cannot start (code 10)" device status. I click "troubleshoot" and voila... blue screen.
Finally I reboot, and set 4 ports in BIOS, making my JUSB3 FRONT PANEL usb1.1? ports active. Interestingly these respond like the PCI card. Computer slow accessing local drives. When I try to access the USB drive I get a "E:/ is not accessible; the file or data is corrupted or unreadable." As soon as I power off the USB HD things are normal...
I will take this USB HD to work tomorrow just to ensure its integrity. Any other ideas? What kinds of BIOS settings might F up USB?

  • Lack of Ghz KT3 Ultra2 Barton 3000+

Dont want to sound like a broken record but I aswell am having problems with my newly purchased Barton 3000+ (400 fsb) with my MSI KT3 Ultra2. The problem is that whenever I try to set the FSB to the correct level, the computer fails to boot and I have to jump the cmos. I updated my bios to ver 5.7, and the highest i can get is to a 2400+
Two possible reasons I think are I have a Thermaltake Volcano 8 (which i believe isnt up to par) and my powersupply is a bit below the specs in the troubleshooting faq: L&C brand PSU +3.3V/24A  +5V/35A  +12V/12A.  However I'm reluctant to go buy replacement parts because I've read of the people who did and it didnt help (limited budget.)
I've tried flashing with 3 different versions of 5.7 drivers, and even gave the 5.6 a go (highest i could get was 2200+) The highest I could get the FSB is to 199, but as soon as i try for 200 it zonks out on me. I've got 768 megs of no name ram that has served me well, and so thats not the problem... (hope not) I've also read a buncho topics and tried various things from them.
If I missed anything lemme know....
Oh while I'm here, my computer likes to restart itself whenever I tell it to shutdown. Sometimes it does stay off, usually when not running for very long. On occasion (not very often) It will come on on its own accord, which kinda concerns me

I don't know for sure, but aren't there two different types of Barton's being sold. One with a FSB 333 and one with 400 ?
So I think you will have to get the other type in order to get it working, since the mobo does only support FSB up to 333 MHz.
Maybe you can just replace the CPU where you bought it ?

  • BIOS Settings Problem on KT3 Ultra2 MS-6380E with Barton 3000+(FSB333)

Well, I finally got my Barton 3000+ with 333 MHz FSB and installed it yesterday in my MSI KT3 Ultra2 Mainboard....
    System Before changing anything:
    PSU: DTK  400 W
    +3.3 V / 22 A
    +5 V / 35 A
    +12 V / 15 A
    -5 V / 0.5 A
    -12 V / 0.8 A
    +5 V VSB / 3 A
So that should make up 400 W as far as I know, my total System drain should be around 300-350 W so even if it would not suffice 400 W it should run the system ?
    Mainboard: KT3 Ultra 2 (BIOS v5.7)
CPU: AMD XP 2100 FSB 133 MHz
    RAM: 1.536 MB, 3x512 MB Infineon PC3200 (400MHz) CL 3-3-3-8 @400MHz, Cl2.5-3-3-7@333Mhz, 2-2-2-6@266MHz
VGA: MSI RX-9800 Pro 128 MB
    DVD/CD-R/RW-Combo: Plextor PX-708 (Firmware 1.08)
    CD-R/RW: TEAC CD-W540E (Firmware 1.0K)
Storage: Western Digital WD800BB (80 GB) (Firmware 17.07W17)
    USB-Storage: Maxtor 4 K080 H4 (80 GB)
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 172T with Driver Version 1.0
Printer: HP Deskjet 970Cxi with Original HP Driver Version 4.3
OS: Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4
BIOS Settings: SDRAM 1T Command: "Disabled" It won't work stable with 3 RAM's in it with that setting, but that I did know before.
    CPU Fast Command: "Ultra"
System was running stable for nearly 2 years with this Configuration:
    So now it goes:
First I changed the CPU form my old AMD XP 2100+ to the new Barton 3000 + with its new Arctic Cool Copper Silent 2TC.
Then I went into BIOS and raised the FSB to 166 MHz, which should be the correct one, or do I have to put 167 MHz in there (since 166.666666 MHz is rounded to 167)?
Then I exited and watched the restart...but it didn't start-up it only got me 3 long beeps at the HOST.
After some whining and beating I plugged out anything and cleared CMOS and started the whole thing again:
    System after Clearing CMOS:
    Mainboard: KT3 Ultra 2 (BIOS v5.7)
CPU: AMD XP 3000+  FSB 100 MHz
RAM: 1x512 MB Infineon PC3200 CL 2-3-3-7 (BIOS setting CAS Latency by "SPD")
Storage: Western Digital WD800BB (80 GB) (Firmware 17.07W17)
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 172T with Driver Version 1.0
OS: Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4
With all Default settings, the Computer boots up, and is correctly Recognized as a Barton 1300 MHz.
When increasing FSB to 133 MHz it is correctly displayed as a Barton 2200+
    NOW...
...after adding one BIOS setting after another I narrowed the problem down to the "CPU Fast Command (decode)" Function...if set to Ultra it does not boot-up when running 166 MHz FSB, it does not even let me into BIOS. I have to clear CMOS and restart from scratch again...
Is this normal and expectable with a Barton 3000+ running at the native 166 MHz FSB or not ?
Since my system before was running on "Ultra" with my old AMD XP 2100+.
There is only one more thing I noticed, the CPU V-Core is shown to be only 1.616 V (setting on "Auto" but it should be 1.65 V ? Should I increase the V-Core to 1.675 V in order to get closer to 1.65 V or shouldn't I worry about ?
Thanks for any Input you can give me on the problem.
    Iscaran

Iscaran, you are indeed correct in the statement which you made

This setting can be set to fast/ultra on the KT3 Ultra2 when using PC2100 ram running at 266. However, when using PC2700 ram running at 333, this setting MUST be set to normal for the satisfactory operation of the board. I know that you have PC3200 ram actually installed but it is only running at 333.

    Yes, absolutely normal

How are you measuring this ie Bios or o/s utility? Not unknown that these are incorrect. However, if you feel unhappy about this, try setting the V-core manually to 1.65v and check what this gives.

So 3.3 V x 22 A gives 72.6 W, that could be really a little cutting the edge. Could that cause the board to not respond when setting the "CPU Fast Command" to "Ultra" ?
Getting a more powerful psu will not likely cure this well documented problem.
However, this board mostly draws power from the 3.3 & 5v rails. The 12v is mostly used to power HDD, optical and fans. When you consider that 128Mb of ram draws about 8-10w from the 5v rail and you have a total of 1.5Gb that adds up to 96-120W of juice just for the memory alone. This board will beep at you at o/s level when it's running underpowered but my opinion is the same as osnavi's your 3.3v & 5v rails are too low. Also what is combined 3.3v & 5v wattage. What kind of reading do you get on monitoring utilities.
By the way I have as you can see from my dets below the same board and cpu as you and when I changed from a XP2000 Palomino with PC2100 ram to XP3000 Barton and PC3200, I changed the 'Fast Command' setting from 'Fast' to 'Normal'
Hope this helps, enjoy the board

  • Can't install a modem on my KT3 Ultra2

  • KT3 ultra2 BR problem

I have already read Bas' post about the common problems but still, my own problem can't be solved. I hope you guys could help me. Here's the problem:
    Specs: KT3 Ultra2 BR/2 x Kingmax 256 MB DDR333 RAM/AthlonXP 2000+
I know that the default fsb is 100. The system reaches POST at 100 fsb. Now, if I use that fsb, my athlon xp is almost worthless. Everytime I try to set the fsb at 133 and saves the CMOS setup, the system couldn't even initialize the VGA card and won't even reach POST. The LEDs tell me that the problems are with the memory modules. I hope you people can help me because I can't use my system until this is solved. Thank you and more power to you.

  • Working KT3-Ultra2 System suddenly will not post!

Problem:  After working fine for two weeks, my new system with a KT3 Ultra 2 mobo does not boot or POST. After pressing the power button, the power light comes on, the hard disk spins up, and then nothing else happens.  The D-Bracket LEDs are in the RRGG layout, indicating that it is initializing the drive controller, but I suspect it is not getting that far as the lights come on in this state as soon as the system is powered.
This system was working fine for two weeks before this happened. It has NEVER been overclocked.  I have tried reseating the hard disk connectors and all the AGP/PCI cards, as well as clearing the CMOS . My system configuration is:
Ducted case for effective cooling with a 350 Watt Power Supply
    KT3 Ultra2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2000 CPU with AMD heatsink/fan
    1024 MB of PC 2700 RAM (2x512)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro AGP video adapter
    Netgear PCI Ethernet Adapter
    Windows XP Professional
I have no idea where to go from here, anyone with ideas please help!!!

Yes, I have done all of that.

  • KT3 Ultra2---BSOD

    SUP...
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.  I'm upgrading my old Soyo Slot 1 PIII mobo to a KT3 Ultra2.  I'm also upgrading my processor to an AMD Athlon XP1700+ and going from regular SDRAM to DDR266.  I have a nVidia GeForce2 MX 200 vid card w/32MB RAM.  Running a Soundblaster plain jane sound card.
Every time I start the system with the new board, proc, and RAM, I get a BSOD telling me that Windows was shut down to prevent damage to the OS and that I should remove any new hard drives/ hard drive controllers and then run chkdsk /f.
At first I thought that there was a conflict between the Intel 82371AB/EB IDE controllers and the VIA chipset on the new board so I unstalled the Intel controllers and then switched mobos.  Still getting the same error.
Any ideas, tips, hints, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Format the harddisk and install the OS from scratch....
