KT333 Ultra ARU raid controller, help!!!!

I just bought a brand new 60 gig maxtor HD and I have no standard IDE slots left and was hopping that I could use the raid controller and setup the single drive as an array, and that I did fine, the onboard controller detected it and I ran the auto setup.... but when it boots to windows I cannot see the drive in windows explorer, and I have installed all of the latest drivers and 4 in 1 patch files. but cannot see the drive in windows... I am running windows ME, but the driver stated that it worked in ME, so any help would be appreciated....

Hi,
You need a modded BIOS to do this, see the good-article forum.
There you find an article from Maesus about this stuff.

  • MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU Raid + XP

    Hi,
I have just built a new system using the MSI - KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard and am having issues instaling Windows XP professional.
The system has been set with 2 Maxtor HD on Raid 0 Stipping.
On installing Windows XP and Raid Driver 2.0 that comes with the board, XP continues to load the files needed for setup, while in this process it will have a read/copy error. As much as you retry it will not read. This happens on different files each time I try to install and is not a bad CD.
    Any suggestions ?

I've had similar problems where my system becomes very unstable at higher bus speeds. Installing Windows XP simply didn't work very good. However, I have ordered a new PSU today as a solution to this problem. Basically, CPUs and video cards are much more demanding and the more devices you have in your computer the more power you're going to need. I recommend purchasing the Enermax EG465P-VE (FCA) 450W ATX PS. It has a higher amperage rating and will most likely solve your problem.
Check your PSU and your bus speed settings...

  • Mainboard does not work anymore (kt333 Ultra Aru)

I have a KT333 Ultra motherboard I purchased along with an AMD XP 2000+ chip and had 256 MB ( PC2100)memory and Cyber-cooler CPU cooler, ATI Rage Pro Turbo, Kingston 10/100 ethernet, Enermax 350 watt PSU, and TI firewire card. and I came home after a late night of work and turned my PC on only to get 3 long beeps and no screen messages or anything, this happened this saturday evening and I was not able to get past the 3 beeps nor find anything about them on the manual that came with the board. I scurried around and found the sales slips and called the seller, and they were not open so I called MSI tech support, and they were not open either, at least not until monday, and I need a new Motherboard if this one has failed, because I am moving to college this friday, and need to get in touch with MSI for replacing the board and possibly other components that may have gone with it.... but what is MSI's policy on replacements, and or warrranty?

You got this "error" after clearing the cmos? It is not an error, it is what happens after you clear the cmos. It is basically saying you cleared your motherboard settings and you need to go back and reset them. All you have to do at this message is press f1 and reset you bios settings. For now, I would recommend just setting the time and date and then loading default bios settings until you are sure you can fully boot. Then you can go back and change what you need. Good Luck and keep us posted.

I have tried a highpoint 1810, a 2130, a 2300 (I think, and they all work fine once I have a installed os on another sata disk and then format the raid, aind install the driver. I need the drievers to se raid froim the initial boot. Any wegesttions, getting real sick o this,

  • D10 Startup Issues - RAID controller Help!

    Hi, I have just received a D10 ThinkStation 6427-33U
It has two 250GB HDD's connected in RAID 1. The system booted up fine the first few times, and on the 3rd reboot, I get the error shown below.

    1. Tried clearing the CMOS

If I press F1 , I get weird dots and it hangs
If i press F2, blinking cursor on top left

if this is a new system and you don't care about rebuilding it, pull one of the drives and see if it still gives you an error.   if it does then leave the second drive out, disable RAID, and try booting.   if this works then replace the second drive, destroy the array, and rebuild it from scratch.   it could be that the array data is corrupted.
if this doesn't work then call lenovo service as there may be something else going on here.   i personally don't use the intel RAID controller and prefer to use the LSI controller whenever possible.
in fact, you may consider using the LSI contoller for your SATA disks.   it's a unified SAS/SATA controller and can handle SATA drives just fine.   performance may be slightly slower but it's closer to a hardware RAID solution than the intel controller.

  • KT333 Ultra-ARU + XP 2400+ ...

is there a prob with this combination? if i update my bios to the latest version (w/c supports up to 2600+) will it recognize the processor properly even if its T-core revision B?

I am having the exact same problem.  Here is what I have posted over at AMDMBforums:
When I put the cpu in unlocked and boot up it is not recognized properly. When I go to change the setting from Auto in the bios - ie fsb from 100 to 133, etc the system will not boot and I have to clear the CMOS in order to get it to boot.
My understanding is that the 2400+ is 15x133 = 1.995Ghz by default. That being said the bios should see the 2400+ and recognize it correctly based on the systemboard specs from MSI.
When I could not get the CPU to boot correctly I unlocked it using the GAO wire/pin method. When I went into the bios and tried to bump up the multiplier up to 15x133 for 2Ghz the system rebooted and only had a 5X multiplier despite what the bios said at 15X.
I read through this thread and it confused me somewhat. If there is no 15x multiplier, how does the 2400+ get it's default speed? MSI cleared this cpu for the K3T so in theory it SHOULD have the 15X multiplier. What confused me though was how the system operated with the cpu locked. Can anyone explain this to me?"
    Another reply I posted:
"If I put it in the KT3 should see it as 15x133 = 2Ghz as default and recognize it as 2400+ on boot, but it does not.
Herin lies the problem. If I remove the wire to open the bridge to lock the multiplier, the cpu is not seen correctly in the bios (ie only shows as an 1800+ cpu!) and any attempt to adjust the fsb from 100 results in the system not booting such as in your case. I am forced to clear cmos in order to get it to boot. I also noted that with the cpu locked (default), when I went into the bios and attempted to adjust the cpu voltage from default of auto it gave me strange ASCII characters for all the other voltages!
Bottom line-- MSI states that the CPU should work on this board without any mods to the cpu (ie unlocking it). My problem is that the ONLY way I can get the board to see it as a 2400+ is to unlock it and run it at 12x166. Right now with it running at 12.5x176 it is seen as a 2600.
Why does the cpu NOT work out of the box using default CMOS settings as MSI stated and why am I forced to unlock it to get it to work?"
It appears that many people are having this problem!!

  • Traded KT333 Ultra for K7N2G-L, help pick RAM

Whats up everyone, my bro came home and we are trading boards provided that I get him an el-cheapo graphics card...he does absolutely no gaming on his pc at all.
So I'm getting a K7N2G-L out of it, heh heh.  AGP/PCI lock is awesome!
I've already tinkered with my existing corsair ram in my signiture below and my same unlocked 2500 barton on his K7N2G-L.  He has the same PSU as me.  I am able to hit the 200FSB with some relaxed latencys and 1.8V on the CPU.  Although the ram is probably having lots of errors, it crapped out of me installing my Catylst drivers...maybe because his integrated graphics driver was still installed too?  Maybe cause the DDR V is at 2.7?  Yes I know, a clean install, but I was just tinkering to get a feel for what I should my ram and CPU could hit.
I want to get higher FSB, take advantage of the dual channel, and get 1Gb...FarCry NEEDs 1Gb, and HL2 and DOOM3 are probably gonna need it too.  I already found the modded bios for K7N2G-L that goes to 230 FSB.  What 1Gb RAM kit should I buy and what speed?  Will some Corsair Twix at pc3200 hit 230 and preserve the descently low latency?  Or get a pc3500 kit since it should be more stable at 230?  I've already read the ram guide, but what are some stable selections that some of you have made...?
A little further Down the road, I can see getting a mobile-barton 2600+ for the additional high-multipliers, but for now I just want to get a good base of RAM.

How about some PMI Turbo Memory PC3200....read some good things about it, specifcially how a store-bought sample was able to hit 460MHz and keet the 2-3-3-7 timing.  It features Winbond chips, according to another review.  and the price is alot better than that of Corsair or kingston.

    Thanks for your help.
It sounds like you are booting from the promise RAID controller.  If so, you are well familiar with the way in which it dominates the bootup process for the first 30 seconds or so.........(dots look familiar?...)
I wonder if the second RAID card is also initiating its bios sequence at the same time underneath the Promise boot screen (underneath, so to speak) so that when the Promise routine is finished, so is the CMD routine, and you proceed from that point with both RAID controllers initialized (but can only see one of them at a time from the bios screen.)
Do you you have "boot from other device" enabled in the bios?  If so you might try disabling that to see if it will sequence the RAID controllers initialization so that the CMD bios appears after the Promise bios is done (I assume you have the onboard Promise array selected as the boot device.)
A bit more trouble would be to reboot to main bios,  disable the onboard RAID controller in the bios, save and reboot.  At this point the Promise bios will not display and you should see a CMD bios display which you could manipulate--then reenable the Promise controller to boot, etc.  If you disable the Promise controller and you still don't see a bios for the CMD RAID device you need to look elsewhere.  Also, it might be that the CMD bios access requires a certain key sequence pressed during post to display?....Just some random thoughts...

  • MSI KT3 ultra aru Western Digital 200GB raid problem

    Hi!
    This is what I've got.

    Promise 100 IDE-controller
    Creative Geforce MX 440
    Lite-on LTR-40125W
    NEC ND-1300 DVD
    And the configuration:
    IDE1: Seagate (Master)
    IDE2: WD1800BG (Cabel Select)
IDE3(Raid1): Maxtor 6LO80J4 (Master) and Maxtor 6Y080L0 (Slave) raided as an single drive
    IDE4(Raid2): WD2000JB (Cable Select)
    IDE5(IDE-controller1):
    IDE6(IDE-controller2): NEC ND-1300 (Master) and Lite-on LTR-40125W (Slave)
    And the Software:
I've updated all the software drivers so I've got the newest and I'm currently runnign Win2k SP3 with almost every patch installed on it.
    And finally the problem:
When I've hook my WD2000JB to the on-board raid everything seems to be working normaly. The bios finds the drive and makes a new array. Win2k boots up and finds the drive and I can create an partition. But when I've try to format it it the computer starts to freeze for a while and then acts like normal again. The HDD-led blinks as it should during the "normal" time, but when the comp. freezes it stops blinking. The formatation stops at 7% and the HDD-led stops lighting. I don't get an error eventhough it was several hours since it stoped. And the formatation takes like 30min for 1%.
When I connect the WD2000JB to the IDE3 I can format it and it acts just like normal. I even did a full system test with the System tool found on Western Digitals support site and it didn't find any errors. But when move it to the raid-IDE the errors return. I've get Error reading / writing to disk and when I've did a chkdsk I've got the "Coudn't use Device) so I did a scandisk and it found very very many errors so it completly ereased everything that was on it.
And when I've run Western Digitals program again i've get an error (Disk error read/writing) error code: 0113.
Can it be that the Western Disk doesn't work well with Raid? I've haven't heard anything about that, so...

  • KT4 Ultra (6590) need update of the Promise SATA RAID Controller PDC20376

The last Bios update AMI 1.4 for the KT4 Ultra (6590) have built in the bios version 1.00.0.18 for the PDC20376 (Promise 376).
    I can configure 2 maxtor (6E040T0) sata1 in a raid0 array and it works under WinXP SP3,
but the 2 drives are working in UDMA5 according to the FastBuild Utility when the motherboard specifications talks about 150Mb (SATA1).
It's not an OS problem because the FastBuild Utility at Bios startup show the UDMA5 mode for HDD.
It's not a Maxtor 6E040T0 (SATA1) problem because have no jumper to set.
The Promise support center don't provide support for built in raid controller but the responce was that it's related to a known bios issue of the controller, so i have to update.
For the last Bios version for the S150 TX4 controller look at:
    http://promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=108&category=all&os=100&go=GO
It's impossible to update the bios with the promise tool because the controller is integrated in the motherboard.
I read for example than on the motherboard K7N2 Delta-ILSR the bios version of the Promise 376 controller is 1.00.0.21:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=92756.msg665966#msg665966
I think the only solution is a modding bios, where i have to replace only the Promise controller bios but:
    1) The tool amibcp.exe can't open the A6590VMS.140 AMI bios (renamed .rom), i don't know why!!!
    2) What promise controller bios rom file is good?
Can anyone out there help . . . please ?

This is my results compared to my other UDMA6 HDD on IDE1, HDTach long bench stop with "Read Error" and only quick bench works.
The version of the Controller driver under WinXP-SP3 is 1.0.1.29 and I configured the driver in the PAM Utility with:
"Driver Write Cache" enabled and "Write Back" as cache settings (The 2 Maxtor SATA1 in RAID have 2MB of cache, but i don't know How many cache have the controller!!).
The Burst Speed is too strange!!! quick bench error?

  • RAID controller on G4; problems... is RAID dead? Help please!

    Hey.
Here's the deal... Our graphics department has a MAC G4 (fully upgraded. newest patches, OS, etc.) that's got a 4 port SATA RAID controller. They use this with four 750GB hard drives as an external RAID (the OS is on a seperate, 65GB hard drive). The way it's set up, through Apple's OS, is we have the four 750GBs in pairs... those pairs are striped, and then the two sets of striped 750s are mirrored. This has worked just fine for a number of months, but we recently had a power surge, and now we're unable to mount "Monkey" (the name of the 1.4TB array).
See the below screenshots for more clarification.
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/raidsetup.JPG
This shows the RAID card, and the four SATA cables coming out of it.
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside1.JPG
As you can see in this and the below screenshots, this shows the 1.4TB Striped set as 'online', but the two below (the two 750GB hard drives) show up as "offline".
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside2.JPG
this shows the actual drive i click on. same thing
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside3a.JPG
If i click the entire array, you can see how it's set up (the Mirrored RAID set consisting of the two Striped RAID sets). The RAID sets (all 3 of them) are showing up as online, yet the drives are offline. No idea why. The drives are all powered, and are spinning, and plugged in.
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside3b.JPG
when you click "Monkey Drive", nothing shows up in it. i don't remember if anything ever used to. if you click 'mount', nothing happens.
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside4.JPG
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/leftside5.JPG
this shows the exact same problem as the first RAID set.
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/verifyRAIDset1.JPG
If you try to Verify the RAID set, it shows that no repairs are necessary
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/verifymonkey.JPG
If you try to verify Monkey, you get a "Volume Needs Repair" error... but when you try to repair it, you get this:
    http://www.amcdoors.com/lorenzo/repairmonkey.JPG
Really need help; this is a pretty critical problem. Someone that's familar with RAID solutions on MACs please help me out. We can't risk losing any data if at all possible.
    Thanks
    ~Lorenzo

have you gotten this to work yet ?? if not let me know

KT333 Ultra; fuzzy logic, 1.6xp overclocking problem help !!!!!

Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from.
With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.
    Hope this helps
