Kt333 ultra2 geforce ti4200 help me!
whenever i try and run 3d programs, both games and apps, everything is fine for a while but then the computer freezes with a high piched buzz coming out the speakers. either this or the system reboots completly.
i have downloaded all the latest drivers for my geforce, but no change.
i am running xp pro
kt333 ultra2 board
athlon 2100+
with a 300w power supply (is this enough?)
if someone could help, i would appreciate it very much!
this new system just cost me whole heap of cash!
You may also be experiencing a conflict between your sound card and the AGP slot. If they are sharing the same IRQ, it can cause a lock up. I have experienced basically the same kind of problem as you are describing. I turned off all unused serial ports through the Device Manager. At the moment I have PCI Slots 1 and 5 empty and set to Auto in the BIOS. I switched from a serial mouse to a USB mouse to free IRQ 12 since the mouse was using it. I set Slots 2 (NIC card) and Slot 4 (TV card) to IRQ 10. The sound card (Slot 3) to Auto after trying to set it to IRQ 12. The graphic froze on my during a game when I had the sound card IRQ set to 12. I guess the Windows' IRQ manager did not like me getting to much control of the situation. The graphics are all right now. Good luck!

MSI KT333 Ultra2-R & XP1800+ (Can't get to 1.5ghz) Help!
I'm hoping someone can help.
I have the:
MSI KT333 Ultra2-R Mainboard
Athlon XP1800+ Processor
128 MB DDR ECC 2100 Ram
3DFX Voodoo5 5500 65MB SGRAM AGP Video Card
Onboard USB 2.0
Onboard AC97' Sound
2 Maxtor 17 Gigs
1 WD 30 Gig
Lite On 40x12x48x CDRW
Zip 100 Internal
Enlight 250w Case
My problem which is EXTREMELY annoying is the fact that I can't get my CPU to clock at it's rated 1.5 ghz.
It clocks at a measly 1100 mhz.
I have tried:
Leaving the FSB at 100 (default) and increasing the Multiplier.
Increasing FSB to 133 and leaving multiplier to Auto, and all combinations to get 1500 mhz between the FSB and Multiplier settings- I've also tried 1200 mhz slowly upwards - even that doesn't work!!
I've also tried increasing core voltage...to no avail.
What happens?
In most cases the PC will start and upon going to WinXP either freeze or reboot. In many cases the PC will also hang on or before boot or turn off almost instantaneously. I doubt very highly that it's overheating because my max temp right now is 32c. I have the CoolerMaster HC001 Heatpipe Heatsink with Arctic Silver paste PERFECTLY spread.
What do I do? I don't know if it's the CPU or me. It's so bad I've even oced a duron I have to more mhz than I can do with the XP.
For clarification - I'm not even trying to OC the XP, I'm trying to get it to it's rated clock of 1.53 ghz.
I'm really hoping someone can help.
My clock speed right now is 1153 mhz, that is 11.5x100.
Do you think it could be because of the 250w PS?
I'll be replacing it soon with a 320w - for now I'm stuck with it.
Help?
Thanks in Advance.
If you have an XP1800 could you also post me your EXACT settings to the T?
Thank You Again....;( I have got the same problem I have got a kt3 ultra2
ms-6380e athlon 2000+xp and a 550w power supply...
I can only get 1.250 ghz out of mine it should get about 1.667 its not the cooling because i have a monster of cooler on the chip with two extra fans blowing in the case and a heat exhaust blowing hot air out the back with the side off the temp of cpu is about 32 'c... I run mine with a 100mhz fsb 12.5 ratio if I change to 133 fsb it locks up and i have to clear c-mos....its got to be a bios problem that has yet to be sorted because there seems to be a lot of people with the same problem..... ?

MSI KT333 Ultra2-R and G550 whackyness
ok so there has been about 36 hours of technical nightmares which comes down to this: i have likely stumbled onto a bizarre incompatibility. i installed XP Professional Corporate with SP1 a total of 6 times up until 3 something in the morning (on the upside my system does such in 5 minutes after formating) due to what appears to be a driver issue not a hardware failure. after installing the motherboard chipset (VIA KT333) drivers and then the video card (Matrox G550) drivers sometime thereafter at random points the screen would go black and XP would report a hardware failure and my video display would go to what appeared to be lesser than 640x480 @ 8 colors yet after rebooting things would be peachy keen. i even tried one step back on the VIA drivers and G550's with no fix. the 7th OS install was WIN2K Pro and with the same drivers at the start of this (the current from both parties) there's been no issue (benchmarks were ran for 9 hours straight using PCMark, 3DMark and Sandra). yep it's pretty clear that friday is going to involved calls to Matrox, MSI, and if possible VIA..

[GeForce PCe] Help with TV-out and DVI on NX6600 PCI express
My NX6600-TD256E doesn't give me any output on TV-out (S-vid) or the DVI. The VGA is okay.
On my old Radeon card you had to switch the TV-out on in software. On the NX6600, I can't find anything in software to let me do this. Should the TV-out work all the time or does it need enabling somewhere. I've been through every tab on the Nvidia driver in the system tray and the display properties. The manual doesn't cover my card but a similar model and the screen shots are different.
The DVI doesn't work if I go DVI from the card to DVI on my monitor. The Card is DVI-I and the monitor is DVD-D. I would have thought that this should work. If I use the DVI out through the VGA adapter to go DVI from the card to VGA in on my monitor it works, but this just means there is an analog signal coming out the DVI.
Any help? Not sure about your card but with most geforce cards, you have to go into the nvida control panel to enable tv out.

HI, since i flashed my video card bios, I have developed a couple of problems and want to flash it back to a previos bios (i used the tool to do it so not sure which i now have), however I cannot find a VGA bios archive anywhere on MSI sites or others. Can anyone help point me to them please, and the manual flashing tool.
Problems are...... corrupted display when resuming from sleep, and the startup screens are way too wide until i get into windows, not a problem until i try and get into bios and cant see the writing on the left/right as its cut off.yes i know i can adjust monitor but i shouldnt have to.

I have tested the harddrive and the graphic card and they work too. I have tested with my other power supply too but same problem and that is a 300W power supply. But i haven´t tested the CPU because i don´t have another computer to test it in.

Minor problem with geforce ti4200 128 mb
Ok... The problem I get with this card is that, you know when you go to
display properties > advanced > Geforce > overlay controls
you get to change the brightness and stuff, when I do, it doesnt work. Now I tried this with my TNT2 card and it works fine so I don't think its any hardware issue... Anyways, help is appreciated thanks!
BTW, I am running in windows XP and have the latest detonator drivers and graphics drivers.Hi,
I have the same card and have used it with no problems whatsoever on an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and an MSI K7N420, MSI K7N2G-ILSR and my current ABIT board without any problems with 3DTurDo or in any games. I have seen the "nv4disp.dll" before on other systems sporadically but it was usually cured by a proper removal of the current nVidia drivers and installation of the latest drivers, however, I have not used the latest nVidia drivers for that card. I have stuck with later versions from 41.09 - 45.XX only. It is most likely a combination of drivers, improper configuration, driver istallation and removal, or possibly the game itself could be buggy. That's a tough one to pin down.
Give my post at the top of the VGA forum a read "Alternative to MSI drivers with overclock settings too!"
Do yourself a favor and stay away from MSI's drivers, I have seen more problems with them as they make changes to install and uninstall routines that are questionable, not to mention they test them in such a way I also might find questionable as well. nVidia's site has an archive of past drivers and so does Driver Heaven.
If you decide to reformat again, I recommend installing service packs, then chipset drivers, then VGA drivers.
Good luck -
Is there any good program with useable interface to check degreeses of the GPU, voltages etc. I have only spotted that ridiculous 3D!Turbo Experience (why MSI even does this kind of ?).

Think of optimizing a GeForce Mx card like Suping up a Yugo. There is no point. With a car you go get another car, like a V8 Mustang. With GeForce get a good card like a GeForceFX 5700 Ultra.

Richard
P.S. The GeForceMx will not play any of the new games coming out, it just does not have the horsepower. -
Kt333 ultra2 will not post?
i had this motherboard sitting for 4 months and when i set all my stuff up for my son the computer will not post the d-bracket hangs at hard drive initilization please help?
I agree, but perhaps we - not Rogue_Wulff - failed to demand info?
If you had the NIC in a slot very close to the graphics card, drivers might have been in conflict with eachother. But there are as stated other reasons.
Nice you got it going! -

hi people
need a bit help here
just bought this mobo yesterday to prepare for my cpu upgrade soon
i plugged everything in and it went fine but couldn't install xp until i just left everything in the bios at default
turned off my computer for a bit then i left and came back after about a hour to find out it wouldn't even post
the lights on the usb ports shows 1-2 red and 3-4 green
which means initializing hd controller
i unplugged everything and went bare bone (including putting in only 1 ram chip) but still 2 red and 2 green lights
i have an AMD XP 1600+, msi gf4 4400, (1) crucial 256 pc 2100, (1) generic 128mb pc2100, (1) 512 generic pc2100, 80gb Maxtor HD (can't remember exact model), 3com NIC (can't remember model), A3D vortex2 sound card (diamond...yea i know it's old), 12x iomega cd burner, 16x pioneer dvd drive, very old teac floppy (but works just like new)
well i'm off to work right now
anything else you need to know i'll try to answer when i get back from work (6pm pst)I'm in the process of building 2 pretty much exact duplicate systems for my friend. One for him and one for his brother.
My friends system has the following setup:
KT333 Ultra2 (Raid ver)
2x256MB DDR333 Kingmax
1700+ XP
ThermalTake Volcano 9 (Tempature sensor installed)
ATI Radeon 7500 All-In-Wonder
Seagate 60GB UDMA133
LG DVD/CD-RW Combo 32x12x40
Enermax 350W PS Dual Fan
I put together his system without any problems and booted it first time. His brothers system contains the exact same parts except the Video card is a Geforce 4 MX440 and the store only had 2 Kingmax sticks so we had to opt for the Generic Apacer DDR333 256 sticks. After going through the building of the 2nd system is plugged it in a tried to boot it, right away the same problem as mentioned in this thread. LEDs showed 1-2 red and 3-4 Green.
So, first simple step, clear the CMOS via jumper and battery removal, no change.
So maybe it was the different RAM sticks, so i swapped them out of the first system and put them in this one, no go same LEDs. Also tried it with just one ram stick and moved it to every slot, same results.
So then figured possibly the video card, took out the mx440 and put in the AIW7500, same deal.
So then since the LEDs indicated the IDE initialization I tried a different HD as well as no devices, same stuff.
Is the board fubar? Its obviously not a compatibility issue since i've got one system up and running with no problems using the same hardware. I can't seem to see anything that would cause this problem that would show up on one system and not the other.
Only other possibility is the CPU, and I'm not super experienced (This is my first time.. ?( ) with putting on the thermal compound, I used the silver grease, which i'm starting to think was a bad idea. So I removed the Heatsink and fan and gonna wipe the dye and surface clean (with Isopropyl Alcohol of course) and see if that was the problem. Any advice is MUCHO appreciated. MSI Geforce 4 ti 4200 8x 128mb problems
I have recently purchased a 128mb 8x GeForce 4 ti 4200 video card, and i am having great dificulty geting it to work properly. Here are my computer specs:
Motherboard: Abit KA7-100 (latest bios update installed)
CPU : Athlon Slot A 800Mhz
Ram : Crucial 512mb PC133
OS : Windows XP Pro / Windows 2000 Pro (latest updates installed)
DirectX : 9
Harddrives : 1 Segate SATA 120 GB
1 Western Digital 8mb cache 120GB
1 Western Digital 27GB ata 66 (boot drive)
2 Western Digital 40GB ata 100 drives
Here is my problem: I can install the drivers for the card just fine, but whenever i try to play a movie (avi, mpeg), 3d game (or any game that uses the 3D part of the card, my computer freezes. I've installed several different versions of nvidia drivers for the card on my computer, but the outcome is always the same. The 2D usage of the card works just fine, but whenever a 3D program/game tries to use the video card, the computer locks up. I have noticed this effect when I bought a GeForce FX card as well. My previos Vid card was a Visiontek GeForce 3 TI 200 which runs very well no matter what I use it for (and after the abuse i put it through too... XD ). I have tried about 5 different drivers for the ti 4200, and have had the same problems.
I'm currently going to upgrade my motherboard/cpu/ram next week, but I'm dumbfounded on why these newer cards do not work at all on my motherboard. If you can help me this would mean a lot to me.
My current mobo only goes up to agp 4x, but i hardly think that would cause the vid card to freeze whenever i try playing any 3d game.
Can someone help meh? :D thnx.Hi,
It's been posted a couple of times but since I don't see any success stories yet; here's my problem. I hope you guys can help me out. I have tried to specify the system as much as posible but let me know when more information is needed.
When I play 3D games (and sometimes when I leave my PC without screensaver or 'doing' something) my system locksup after a short time (sometimes after 10 seconds other times a few minutes)and the whole PC locksup, I can't even use ctrl+alt+del to get out. My PC is brand new.
Important! The problem does NOT excist as soon as I install a different videocard, being a a Radeon 9200. However I would like to use my MSI card as it's performance is better.
Videocard: MSI MS-Starforce GeForce Ti4200 with GP8x (NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti4200 with AGP8x), driver version NVDIA 4.1.0.7, PCI-bus 1.
Motherboard: Asus P4C800 deluxe, Intel 875P Chipser, FSB 800MHz, Dual DDR 400.
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2800
RAM: 1024MB
OS: Win XP Pro SP1
HD: Maxtor 6Y120M0 120 GB (3 partitions), driver (Microsoft) version 5.1.2535.0
Soundcard: Blaster Audigy 2
Tried; updated & downgraded drivers for videocard, Scandisk, Defrag, installed all updates from Windows Update, updated drivers soundcard.
