Kt4 6590 SATA to IDE Adapter problem

kt4 6590 m/b, i bought a SATA to IDE Adapter plugged it into ide channel 2 to use a seagate db35.3 sata drive as a slave
the drive is not seen in bios or in device manager, and no scsi in bios either, can only see my main c: drive and the save i have attached to same cable, they run fine, but xp pro cannot see the sata drive what so ever.
only drives in device are my normal ide ones, no yellow question marks nothing. is there something else in the bios
i need to set? or is this m/b so old it will never see the drive

Unfortunately, I didnt find any information about the kind of enclosure interface.
In my opinion it could be an IDE interface but Im not100% sure.
But never fear you can buy an 3rd party SATA to IDE adapter and could connect the HDD if it will support different interfaces.

Problem of SATA burner blu-ray drive vs IDE ribbon in the mac. Would all I need is a SATA to IDE/IDE adaptor?

I purchased an MCE blu-ray burner a while back in 2010 and am only now installing it, and am running into the problem of SATA drive vs IDE ribbon in the mac.
Would all I need is a SATA to IDE/IDE adaptor? Are there any details I need to know?

that one will definetly not work, notice how theres no place for you to hook your power connector in there? going IDE to SATA is something I am yet to find an adaptor that really works well yet( that being said i only tried once.) that being said, you can definetly use somethign like the thing i link to below assuming you have a free HDD bay. you can use it to bring one of your HDD sata ports AND power, up to your optical drive bay. That way, theres no convertion, only a quick little extention. They come in varying lengths from 3", (prob too short), to 8" (the one i linked to, might just barely be long enough, maybe still too short) to 20", more than long enough.

HT4413 Migrating files from old mac using Sata ide adapter

Im trying to migrate files from my old mac hard drive (old mac isnt working- just hooked up hard drive to sata ide adapter) --- when I go to Migration Assistant, "select your disk" it just keeps thinking, it doesnt pull anything up. When just plugging in the sata adapter, it doesnt come up automatically to run either. I have used this adapter before with this old harddrive, so I know it works (I had help the last time)....I just cant figure it out this time. Please help

You cannot use Migration Assistant. When you connect the old HDD, does it appear on the desktop of the MBP. If it does, you will have to transfer the files manually.
If not, does it appear in Disk Utility? Post a screen shot such as this:

1 SATA + 3 IDE Config help please

Hi, I have an 865PE - Neo2 - LS.
Currently I have 1 SATA HD configured as the first boot device + a CDRW and a DVD on IDE2.
I would like to add a second standard IDE HD for some extra storage but try as I might I cannot get the bios to recognise the second drive.
I guess what I am asking is this:
1 is it possible to have the following config on this board
1 SATA
1 IDE HD
1 IDE DVD
1 IDE CDRW
2. If so, could some kind soul tell me how......PLEASE

I personally have the following drives running on my MSI 865PE Neo 2 S mobo without any problem...:
1 x DVD-Writer(IDE 1, Master),
1 x DVD(IDE 1, Slave),
1 x Seagate 80GB HDD(IDE2, Master),
1 x Maxtor 80GB HDD(IDE2, Slave),
1 x Seagate 120GB HDD(SATA 1).
I'm using this config:
ATA OnChip Operate Mode: Native
ATA Config: SATA
PATA Keep Enabled: Yes
PATA Channel Selection: Both
And running in Win2k SP 4, AMIBIOS v1.0
Check and make sure that you are not using any old IDE cable for the HDD and make sure that you did set to either Master or Slave mode, not Cable Select and make sure that you are getting power from the +12v molex connector that plugged to the HDD.

P35 Neo2 BIOS Settings to run Dual Boot SATA and IDE HD's

Hi,
I was having intermittent problems with a Gigeabyte so upgraded M/B.
I have an IDE "caddy" with 2 Dual boot HD's (Linux Grub booting XP on sda1 and Fedora9 on sda2), and had no problems with either HD's on old M/B.
The old M/B also had SATA sockets which I installed a 250GB drive as my main setup. Dual boot again with same setup. I set the SATA to "auto" and it detected and ran when no IDE caddy was inserted.
Everything ran OK but I had very intermittent CRC failures that I could not isolate, so I upgrade 2 days ago.
Without inserting any IDE drives I can boot the SATA drive OK into Linux OK (it also detects an ext3 partition on a seperate /backup partition so the IDE interface works).
If I now try and boot the XP on my SATA drive, I get the dreaded blue screen.
I assume this is due to me having XP installed without the AHCI support as detailed in other (long) thread showing how to overcome this problem!?
I would also like to know if and I can just boot from my IDE drive (with no SATA's connected), because even though it seems to detect the PATA HD OK, I cannot get it to boot from either of them! I know these HD's have not changed as I have checked both of them on the SATA OS and both Logical volumes are still there and the relevant boot flags are both set.
Even though I have a bit of a complex setup, this may well be a very simple case of BIOS settings (sorry).
FYI:
I have a A7345 IMS V1.8 012408 BIOS and my two IDE drives are both dual boot with XP on the first partition.
Both Linux partitions are formatted using Logical Volume Management (LVM).

Thanks for the info, I am now a bit clearer as to what is happening!
I removed known good IDE HD from caddie and put it directly on the IDE cable (after removing the old non LVM linux IDE disk that was on it).
The newly connected HD was initialized OK and I can see both SAT and IDE disks listed with F11.
On trying to boot from the IDE, it starts up and decompresses the image, BUT cannot seem to find the LVM Volume group 03 (which is where my /boot partition is located).
It then gives in and after a while, boots back to the SATA OK (where the bootloader is also inside the LVM so I can't see why the LVM IDE disk is a problem but the LVM SATA boots OK).
I do remember (late last night) trying with just IDE drive and of course it just hung because it did not have any alternative to boot!
Any other observations/suggestions?

K8MM3 IDE Boot Problem

I recently bought a K8MM3 motherboard and am trying to get it to run with a couple IDE drives (there are no SATA drives at all). The only problem is it won't normally boot from the Channel 0 Master drive. I have to insert a bootable CD... wait until the "Press any key to Boot From CD" message comes up... and as long as I don't press anything... only then will it detect my OS and boot up from the Channel 0 Master drive. Has anyone run into this... and how do I get it to boot normally without having to always have a bootable CD in?
The messages I get when a bootable CD is in:

... with no luck either. The "Advanced BIOS Features->Boot Sequence->Boot From Other Device" was Disabled through all of this too... plus the Maxtor is definitely the HD with the OS. I can see this when I boot up with the bootable CDROM method.
Any other ideas?

Awfully good questions. I couldn't tell you the specs on transfer speeds or bus speeds involved ... Keep in mind that the X6x and the T6x accept both ultrabay adapter types - the IDE and the SATA drive versions (two different ultrabay devices). The mainboard/ultrabay connector on both ultrabay version caddies are the same and I remember reading in some tech papers that the mainboard/ultrabay connection is made by some derivative of USB...
I'll have to test the speeds and post more with results later.

Right well, first off, I can't pretend I'm any kind of expert on this question but doing more research it turns out the ultrabay adapter hooks up as an "ATA/ATAPI" drive - can't say what the rated transfer rate is on such a connection.
Performed a quick test using a Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 (60GB 7200rpm) ATA-100 (100MB/s buffer-to-host transfer rate) stuffed in an ultrabay IDE device hooked up to my X61 in the X6 ultrabase (lots of room for transfer rate loss).
Resulting transfer speed ratings of 88.6MB/s (using HDTach) so there's some loss, but it's not bad! Tried the same drive via external USB enclosure (Ultra brand) and I get 77.8MB/s transfer rate, using same program, so... more of a bottleneck there.
Can't give you any test results of the drive as a primary device because it's not SATA (X61 only takes SATA/2 drives) and I don't have the SATA ultrabay adaptor to test a SATA drive.

Kt4 6590

I have a problem, i just installed a kt4 (6590) board. I have a xp 2200 but it says 1500, so i tried the set the fsb to 133, it recognizes my 2200, but i get a blue screen of death saying windows has a error. So i go back into bios and switch back to 100 fsb and everthing loads and runs fine.
Any help would be nice. I know this is a dumb question but i have to ask. I bought this board the 6590 with thinking i would get 333 fsb, i cant even put it on 133 ?( fsb! will i get 333 fsb? I am a computer noob so be nice. :P

Your getting mixed up with your speed ratings here. You are correct that you should be running at a 133mhz fsb this equates to a speed of 266mhz for the actual cpu which is correct for a (standard) 2200. The 333 speed you mention would equate to a 166 fsb in terms of the motherboard. I don't belive you can buy 2200's that are 333mhz.
As for power supplies when I first got my kt4 ultra a 300w psu lasted about 5 mins before it went up in a clould of smoke, the heatsink on it was still hot 10 minutes later! Beware cheap psu's. I now have a decent 400w psu from a recognised manufacturer.

SATA Emulation: IDE to AHCI. Is it safe?

A newbie here. I just bought HP Z230 workstation with preinstalled Windows7. The machine has one 250GB SSD. I have made a clean install of Windows 8.1 and now I connected another SSD (Samsung EVO 500 GB). What bothers me is that Samsung Magician tells me that EVO is running in IDE or RAID mode (no AHCI). Is it safe for me to go to HP Setup utility/STORAGE OPTIONS and change Emulation from IDE to AHCI? I obviously do not want to cause any harm. EVO will be used just for data storage.
Current settings:
eSATA Port: Disabled
SATA Emulation: IDE
Removable media Boot: Enabled
Max eSATA Speed: 1.5 Gbps
While there, is it safe to enable eSATA Port and increase Max eSATA Speed to 3Gbps (using external Verbatim 53029 500GB from time to time) Thank you!

The mobo was released very long time ago (it doesn?t even support SATA II lol) and BIOS update would likely to solve the BSOD problems but there's no way I'm risking it lol.
My system is running perfectly (well, near perfect lol) and haven?t suffered from any virus attack for more then two years (however, I am aware of the risks)
I'm trying to keep my system in order until next July where I have to perform a major upgrade and install Vista Home Premium (OEM version of cause) but until then, I?m stuck with SPa.

Mini display to hdmi adapter problem

Hi,
When I connected my mini display to hdmi adapter to hdmi, and hdmi cable to my ASUS PA238QR monitor, my early 2011 MBP 13" detects the monitor, but the monitor shows "hdmi no signal".
I tried unplugging everything, including the adapter and hdmi, but to no avail. I tried putting my computer to sleep, and waking it up, still, nothing seemed to be the cause of the problem.
I read through some old discussion on this issue, and nobody seems to have a solid solution besides purchasing another adapter.
I tried booting into win7 and still, the monitor shows "hdmi no signal".
I am 100% sure my monitor and hdmi works becuase when I used other laptops it's fine.
Thus, I'm suspecting it's the mini display to hdmi adapter's problem.
Is there a way I can make sure that my macbook pro is outputting the signal?
Any recommendation or advises are welcomed. Thanks for reading.

If you've an HDMI port on your television, you could always try that.
I've used this adapter from Monoprice successfully - not bad for under $7.
Give your TV a try - if no go, then you'll know that it's an adapter problem.

CONTEXT
I’ve been working my project with Jdev11.1.1.1, when I migrate to JDev 11.1.1.2. I realized that my project didn’t compile successfully as before besides I couldn’t see the design view in a WYSIWYG mode on my JSF pages.
I had installed (initially) in C:\oracle\Middleware Jdev 11.1.1.1 with WLS 10.3 (default in Installer)
A couple days ago I realized about the new Jdev release JDev 11.1.1.2 and I decided to migrate because of the IDE improvements such as Bugs Solutions, Maven support, code templates, etc).
The new version seemed to be non-compatible with WLS 10.3 because I couldn’t mount it in the same middleware so I installed the new one in C:\oracle\Middleware11g2, JDev 11.1.1.2 with WLS 10.3.1 (default in Installer).
EXAMPLE
I have created a new sample Project named JDev112App, it only has 1 java class, 1 ADF template and 1 JSPx to show the errors and differences between releases of the IDE… However, I also have added the screenshots of the Project in each IDE, also I have included a screenshot of my real project (Business App).
NOTE. Business APP project is under subversion SVN and the migration was done successfully when JDEv 11.1.1.2 opened it (it migrated automatically).
What should I do?? .. thanks

I think that the problem could be preferences/settings migration from Jdev 11.1.1.1.0 to JDev 11.1.1.2.0, because I migrated not only the application but also the JDev preferences ( "Documents&Settings...Jdeveloper..." ).
I have installed in a new machine without previous version of Jdev the new release JDev 11.1.1.2.0 and when I deploy my test application with errors ( showed in this post ), it works fine and also the design view is correct.
I am not SURE but I think the bug or problem could be also the preference/settings migration between JdeveloperS.
Can anybody tell me the real reason?? How can I fix it ... I don’t want to import each of my settings manually in JDev 11.1.1.2.0 ( I mean templates, javadocs settings, connections, repositories, etc).

If you dont believe, install some kind of hardware diagnostic software like Everest Home Edit or Sandra SiSoft. Both would show you that the notebook supports SATA
