KT4AV-L PROBLEMS !! with AMD Sempron 2400

Dearest friends, I've got a nasty problem with the brand new MSI KT4AV-L + SEMPRON 2400 just bought from my dealer.
The FSB clock can be set ONLY to 100MHz or the CMOS BIOS will NOT EVEN START !!!
When I put 133MHz or 166MHz (the correct one) into BIOS FSB settings ... the system won't boot, WON'T BOOT NOT EVEN the CMOS BIOS AMI (latest release available = 5.4 ) will boot.
This is VERY BAD AND VERY NASTY problem because the board is listed in the AMD recommended boards list and should have 0 problems while running the Sempron to its 1600MHz ... instead of the ACTUAL 1.000MHz I HAVE NOW !!!! and this turtle speed its making the whole system disappointing.
Anybody can help with this ?
What am I doing wrong ?
Many thanks
Seguace

oh my gosh! I can't believe! you have to be a kind of magician, your PSU it's the weakest that I ever seen!    5a it's extremely low! I don´t how did it works now, even at the lower speed, please try another PSU ASAP! at least 400 watts,   and on the 12v rail at least 18a (at least, I mean minimal).

  • Slow/Jerky Video with kt6v\sempron 2400\geforce mx400

    Hello!
I'm hoping someone out there has seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction for how to solve it.  I am putting this system together for my sister.  Here are the system's credentials:
    msi kt6v mainboard
    amd sempron 2400 processor
    256 meg ddr ram, 400mhz
nvidia gforce mx400 agp display adaptor  64meg
western digital caviar 20 gig hard drive
generic (comp usa) 52x ide cdrom drive
    lucent pci lt win modem
windows xp pro  with service pack 2
Mainboard bios has recently been upgraded to  recognize the sempron cpu.
Cpu freqency in cmos is set to 166mhz.  (is this the correct setting?)
    The problem:
When playing various video games, such as Carnival Cruise Lines Tycoon, Trailer Park Tycoon, or The Sims (all of which are great games, btw), the video is extremely choppy/jerky.  It doesn't play smoothly at all.  But it SHOULD!   As a test, if I replace that video card with an  FX5200 personal cinema, it works great!  (but there's no way I'm going to give my sister that fx5200 card!  I need the mx400 to work in this machine.)   I can put that gforce mx400 in another machine (kt4v with amd 2200xp) and it works great.  So this tells me the problem should not be with the display adaptor nor the kt6v mainboard.  But is there a compatability problem between the two?  Is there a setting I've overlooked?  I'm thinking this is probably an issue with the display drivers or the mainboard drivers, I just don't know.  I've spent the last 3 nights trying to figure this one out.  This has me stumped.
Anyone else seen this same problem and know the fix?  Also, anybody know what the recommended cmos settings are on the kt6v  when using the mx 400 display adaptor and the sempron 2400 cpu?  What are the recommended drivers/versions for this mainboard and display adaptor?
    Thanks!!!!!

    No
the GF2 came in mx200, mx and mx400.

  • KT6V + AMD Sempron 2400 not booting

    I bought this:
    MSI KT600V
    AMD Sempron +2400
    512MB DDR400
    WD 20Gb UDMA
    LG DVD-RW
    HP CD-RW
    Floppy
Power is switched on (fans start humming), but I can't seem to get the system to boot (black screen). According to the leds in the back pannel, there is a problem with the CPU (either CPU failure or not properly installed), but everything seems ok on the outside.
I was wondering if anyone has been able to boot a similar system "out-of-the-box", or whether I need to get a BIOS update to get things going?
    Cheers!

Thanks Osnavi for your quick reply. Interestingly just a few seconds ago I decided to hit the power button "one final time", and guess what, the da#n thing started to boot... I have no idea what was wrong with it, but now everything seems to work ok. The Lord works in mysterious ways  :hypecrite:
    Thanks again Osnavi.

  • Any problem with AMD Radeon or FirePro graphic cards?

    Hi.
I know that Adobe recommend Nvidia cards for SpeedGrade, but I ask to owners of AMD cards if they have found any problems with AMD cards: bad performance, not realtime with relatively few layers, etc, etc
    Which is your experience?
    Thanks.

FWIW: I'm using a AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1GB RAM) on my Mac Book Pro. So far it performs fine, in some cases it even feels faster than the Quadro 4000 in my Mac Pro, but I think that has more to do with the type of projects. Mostly doing DSLR on the MBP and R3D on the Mac Pro.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2155a (64bit, running Win8.0)- Problem with AMD Radeon HD7450

    Hi,
Have noticed various posts re problems with AMD Radeon HD7450.
For several months, I've had problems with my "video hardware causing Windows to stop working correctly". Until yesterday, this was more of a nuisance than a real problem (so I thought). Yesterday, I had my first BSOD, caused by video_scheduler_internal_error.
Today, I downloaded sp59360.exe & installed, as suggested by the HP website. On checking the Device Manager, this driver appears to be older (Version 8.982.10.0, Date 28.8.12) than the one I had previously (Version 8.982.10.6000, Date 18.9.12).
About 30 minutes ago, while away from my computer, I think I had another "video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly".
Have I done the right thing in installing sp59360.exe? Should I roll-back to the previous driver? What is causing my problems? Is it possibly a faulty card?

    Hello @Mazza52,
I understand that you are getting a BSOD error related to your graphics card and are seeking assistance. As you have tried multiple drivers and are still getting the BSOD I think we should do a backup and recovery of your computer to rule out software as being an issue.
To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.
If after this you still have the same problem then the issue appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.
As for the drivers you installed and had installed the Version 8.982.10.6000 driver from what I can see is for Notebook computers and just happened to work for you the driver Version 8.982.10.0 is the one you should have installed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • AMD Sempron 2400

    Hey folks,
I have an AMD Sempron 2400 (see sig below for more system info). I have done the latest updates via liveupdate and my system is only recognizing 1667Mhtz of the 2400 that AMD says it has. Now I know that AMD processors come in a little lower than what they are advertised but this is rediculous. Can anyone help me get this processor going a little faster?

don't be put off by lower clock speeds - Intel are only pushing their P4s to be "faster" by clock speed only because they are less efficient at processing than AMD cpus
that has been proven by several leading PC publications - in fact Custom PC a few issues back said that the Pentium-M chips (based on the old PIII core) were better than the current P4s, and actually claimed that the P4 had overall been a disaster for Intel, as they had lost so much technological ground to AMD. Intel's only obvious choice was to increase the clock speed as much as they could to compensate, hence why we now see 3.2 and 3.4ghz P4s. even so the Athlon64s still pack some punch in comparison, despite only having clock speeds from 1.9ghz up to 2.4ghz

  • Problem with AMD and Lenovo G510 Notebook

    Hello,
I bought a Lenovo G510 Notebook i7 with both Intel and AMD Radeon 8570 graphic cards and I have to say my (first and only) experience with AMD and Lenovo is being so far totally disgusting.
My problem is that there's no way I can make the computer use the AMD Radeon while playing, I updated the drivers (even following instructions from Lenovo Staff in this forum) and there's no way to do it. I updated it from AMD and Intel webpages and neither works. Right now I have the latest drivers from Lenovo webpage and the computer can't even recognize the AMD graphic card (in Device manager is written as OPAL GT/XL 6604).
I don't know what else to try, I've been trying to look for more solutions in the websites but I have to say they are for me totally a mess and the only thing I got was "update your drivers" once and again. I hope the service is better than the offered in the website.
    Diego

Can you tell me what Windows version are you using? And some other information.
    For example:
    G510
    i5-4200M
    4GB
    500GB
Fresh Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 x64 (means I did not update but installed fresh after formatting all partitions)
Intel HD 4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M
Also post a picture of your Device Manager with Display adapters expanded.

  • 15-n067sr problems with AMD Radeon HD 8670M (windows 8.1 x64)

    Hello,
below i'll explain the problem i'm experiencing.
I've decided to install Windows 8.1 x64 to this notebook model (15-n067sr). The problem is that ATI drivers which i download from HP support site doesn't allow me to install Display driver, it only installs OEM profile or something like that + Installer. No display driver, no CCC, not anything else. And it doesn't matter if i choose quick install or personalized. I've tried deleting all the ATI, Intel and chipset drivers and reinstalling them one by one. First chipset, then Intel and then ATI and still Installer won't let me setup any data which is needed for correct performance.
Anyway, i tried to install 14.9 Catalyst from AMD website, also tried beta drivers and actually they install correctly and i can switch between 2 video GPU's and everything seems fine EXCEPT ONE THING : the notebook won't come back from sleep mode , hybernation mode or when the display switches off. I've tried to manipulate with energy options , but still no result. With AMD display driver installed (from official website) the notebook never resumes correctly from these modes, i guess they just don't work at all, display just becomes black and nothing else happens.
    Yes, i've updated my BIOS.
No, with these drivers from HP i can't switch between GPU's and only Intel GPU works actually, i've checked that in TechPower GPU-Z.
I guess i've tried everything possible, but if you can think of any other solution - please let me know, because i can either play games normally and use both GPU's but it's impossible to work with notebook, because sleep and hybernation modes doesn't work, either i can work without any problems, but my AMD GPU isn't avalible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @Malakhov ,
Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you!
I grasp you are having a difficulty with the switchable graphics on your notebook. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and using updated drivers but to no success.
Here is a link to the recommended drivers for your system.
HP Pavilion 15-n067sr Notebook PC Drivers
Download and  save the Chipset, Intel and AMD drivers and save them on your desktop
    Delete all three drivers
    Install the Chipset driver
restart your notebook this is an important step
Now install the Intel driver and   if prompted restart the notebook and finally install the last driver.
Here is a link to Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs.
    I hope this helped!

    Hi.
I have problems with the graphics card driver Ati Radeon R5. I have a HP 15 - g012dx , from one moment to another , the driver stopped working. I have to disable this driver for the video work properly. I installed the drivers that brings the HP Recovery Manager:
    * AMD HD Graphisc Driver:
    -version 13.351.1105.1001
    -version 13.351.1105.1005
Prove also unsuccessfully with these drivers :
    * amd - catalyst- 14.7 - rc3 -windows- aug12

    * sp67327
    * sp69615
PLEASE help me to resolve this problem
    thanks
    DISABLE DRIVER (VIDEO REGULAR)
    ACTIVE DRIVER (VIDEO PROBLEMS)

Install the driver that is available either by download from the HP support portal download section or the HP Recovery manager. You can access the Recovery Manager while logged into Windows or by booting to the usb recovery media you should have created by now.
Try the following HP graphics softpaq version 13.152.1.3000. The HP softpaq will also reinstall the notebook's chipset drivers.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64482.exeversion
Do not install drivers from AMD.
If you read the fine print at AMD, you will find that AMD cautions you that it is best to use the notebook manufacturer's drivers.

  • Problems with AMD-K7 boards supporting USB

    Hi folks,
I have a broadband connection via a USB modem that keeps cutting out. I have to reboot my computer to get it to connect again. I have all most recent drivers and no hardware conflicts or errors reported.
Calling my ISP tech support they explained that there is a problem with WinXP Professional not properly supporting USB on AMD-K7 boards.
This info was confirmed by usbman.com who write that the best solution is to buy a USB card.
    (see http://www.usbman.com/winxpusbguide.htm#AMD%20756)
Can anyone tell me if this is correct and is there another way to get around this?
usbman.com's say in some cases to download some new EIDE drivers from AMD
    (see http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_2336~4512,00.html)
but the drivers refuse to install following the instructions from AMD.
