KT4V and Pinnacle Video Capture

I have a KT4V board. I am trying to install a Pinnacle Systems Video Capture card which comes with their Studio Deluxe system.
When I install this card the machine will not boot. I get power, but nothing displays on the monitor. I must pull the plug to turn the system off. I remove the Pinnacle card and the machine boots fine. I have worked with Pinnacle and they have sent me a new card, same problem!
This leads me to believe it is a motherboard issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the only thing i can think of is that its in a pci slot that could be shared with say the usb or  firewire ports,do you use these, yes you are right if the machine will not boot that means major conflict.have you tryed going into the bios, and checked all the settings to make sure and it could also be a conflict with the video card

had some old movies from reel to reel on a vcr. i converted these to mp4 format using pinnacle video capture, quality was not great but it was decent enough on my computer. when i placed these on my ipad it was much worse and very choppy.  i have handbrake and thought i could maybe change the movie so i could play it on ipad but dont know what dimensions or framerate etc. currently the movie on the computer is in 640 x 480 mpeg 4  aac.  thanks derek

    Jon,
What Julianne said at first about re-linking made perfect sense and I followed it easily, had actually already been there.  But in my situation now, it didn't have any effect.  The directory of folders which had already been added were still just as they were, and the outstanding balance are not in the desired position.  And the folders which had been brought in earlier today when I clicked "synchronize folder", were still missing all the metadata.
Maybe this means I need to start over, and I'm fine about doing that that, but I don't know what it takes to accomplish that.  I'm concerned now that any changes I make out of guesswork could only make the problem harder to resolve.  It just feels to me like something I did at the beginning just wasn't right, and now it's a tangle.
    Can you advise?
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac

After talking with a bunch of salesmen (considering getting a DvD writer), I took the advice of someone in the Apple Store and bought a Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac to copy my laserdiscs. It was $100 before tax, and didn't do stuff I don't plan on doing anyway. I did spend another $25 to get an S-video cable.
I installed the software and connected it up to my LD. I started capturing the movie, and selected S-Video (although in the small window they showed, I didn't see any difference between that and video out. I selected a max time from a limited selection, and let it record.
After a while, I went downstairs and saw that the audio and video were not synchronized at all. I let it continue.
After a while I came down again, and the movie was finished, so I stopped it. I found the MP4 - it was in the iTunes movie directory, and played it in iTunes. I fast-forwarded it to near the end, the voice and video were way off-set.
I haven't tried burning this yet.
Quicktime player doesn't think this is a valid movie file. I selected "open with" and "other" and the recommended applications had iMovie greyed out.
Why in the world would the audio and video record at different speeds?
Do I have to buy software to edit the movie down to the correct size?
    My Mac has:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version: 1.21f4
I noticed the Pinacle Video Capture program was still running, so I tried to quit it, and got a window asking for my administrator ID and passsword to allow Pinnacle Video Capture to make changes. Why?

The audio drifted out of sync because the Dazzle doesn't support locked audio. For short videos (say, under 10 minutes) this won't be very noticeable but when you capture longer videos it becomes progressively worse over time.
What do you want to do with your Laserdisk copies? Watch them on your iPod? Edit and/or burn to DVD?
A device like the Canopus ADVC-110 will do the video/audio conversion properly, keeping the audio and video in sync regardless of the length of your video. It converts to DV, not to MP4, and you would use it with iMovie or Final Cut (not iTunes). However you can export your video from iMovie or Final Cut to iPod/AppleTV formats.
The Dazzle device will not work directly with iMovie or Final Cut.
ps. If all you really want to do is transfer your Laserdisc videos to DVDs, it will be a whole lot faster & simpler to get a DVD player/recorder that has analog inputs and record directly to DVDs. There are many brands & models to choose from and many good ones are as inexpensive as the $100 you spent on the Pinnacle converter.

  • RGB, Composite, Firewire and S-video capture device for FCP

    Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could suggest some of the better capture cards that support RGB composite, firewire and s-video inputs that will work with FCP.
The set up is on Mac Pro and the device needs to be as reliable and noise free as possible as it will be used for the capturing of video for evidence in court cases.
Any help is this area would be very grateful,
    Regards,
    Martin.

    Hello,
I have no experience with the AJA product line but I know that many of the folks here have used them. They make a good line of cards that will do what you are asking for. They don't have firewire on the cards, but the computer you are using should have one I would assume.
Since you said 'S-Video' my thoughts are that you are only using SD? If that is going to be the case for a long time then look at this card:
    http://www.aja.com/products/kona/kona-lse-ls.php
It has composite and S-Video inputs. IF there is the chance that you are going to be doing HD and IF it is still tape based, then look at one of the higher models. But again, that is if you are going to be upgrading to HD sometime soon.
    Hope this helps.

  • Leopard and firewire video capture

I have been attempting to capture video with leopard without any success. I have accomplished a clean install of leopard and FCS1 with repairing permissions between installs of the OS and after the FSC install. I have accomplished all software updates and re-accomplished repair permissions. The OS recognizes my video capture equipment, a Laird LTM-5000. FCP seems to have limited control over the DV converter, but fails to recognize the A/V stream. I have also tried other Apps. under leopard to test ability to decode DV streams from the DV bridge to include VideoScope, Photobooth, and QuickTime directly without any success.
Has anyone been able to capture any video under Leopard via Firewire?
    Dave F

I believe Final Cut Pro 5.1 was optimized for OSX 10.3.9 and Quicktime 7.
Must admit I've not checked the specifications recently so can't offer anything on whether it will even run on Leopard.
As for other applications and hardware, new drivers and updates are going to be required for many things. In fact just saw a note saying After Effects will not be running on Leopard until December.. or later.
You might be better off going back to your previous operating system and being patient for a little while until some of the dust settles.

  • Toggle between front and rear video capture device

    Hi.
First of all, is this where I can ask questions about wp c#?
second, How do I programmatically toggle front and rear video camera? I what to put a menu item option to switch between front(if available) and rear camera. Can you provide me with c# code to do this?

    Hello,
I will help you moving this thread into windows phone forum.
For you question, we can use DeviceInformaiton class to find all webcams and then get the front or back webcam.
     Code looks like the following.
    var devices = await Windows.Devices.Enumeration.DeviceInformation.FindAllAsync(Windows.Devices.Enumeration.DeviceClass.VideoCapture);
    Windows.Devices.Enumeration.DeviceInformation backCameraDeviceInformation =
    devices.FirstOrDefault(x => x.EnclosureLocation != null &&
    x.EnclosureLocation.Panel == Windows.Devices.Enumeration.Panel.Back);
You can see more about camera programming in this code sample. Get it from
    https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/AdvancedCamera-ba47da27.
Feel free to let me know if you have any concerns.

  • Mini Mac Remote Desktop and Elgato Video Capture Stick

I have 10 Mini Macs simultaneously capturing video via a Elgato Vapture Stick.
Instead of having 10 monitors, keyboards, and mice, I wish to control the Mini Macs by remote desktop. The problem is the Mini Macs won't refresh the video overlay if there is no monitor directly attached to them. I can establish a remote desktop but I can't see the video being captured in the Elgato capture window. As soon as I attach a monitor to the Mini Mac with the Elgato Capture Stick, then then the video is displayed correctly on the remote desktop. The goal is just to have one monitor on the Mini Mac with the remote desktop.

Actually, a slightly more recent version - 3.4.3 (6308) - is downloadable here
    http://www.elgato.com/elgato/int/mainmenu/support/Update-Start/Update-EyeTV-3
... directly from the Elgato support website.

  • PC and Mac Video Capture Devices

I own a Mac PB with OSX.4. My wife has a WinXP laptop. Can someone recommend a solution she and I can both use to capture video from our VCR?
We both have firewire, USB2.0, and Cardbus (PCMCIA) ports.
I don't want to get something that only one of us can use if I can avoid it.
    Thanks,

There is a device called PYRO A/V Link from ADS Tech which you can find at CompUSA.
It inputs from any analog source and connects to your Mac via firewire, plus it comes bundles with Adobe Premiere Elements.
Here is the link to it at CompUSA . Good luck.

  • Video capture and JavaFX

I've run throgh few threads in this forums and the sites, but I could not find when (and if) video capture will be supported by JavaFX (audio is not a major problem, as it is supported in JRE). It is possible to know something about it ?
Where any roadmaps for future releases (in terms of contents / release dates) are published ?
    Thanks.

JavaFX does not support flash streaming.
JavaFX does support http live streaming: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming
JavaFX does not support audio/video capture (there are other java/native libraries that do that).
    See:
Video camera capture/streaming: example implementation "Thread: Video camera capture/streaming: example implementation"
http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-3458 "Camera and Microphone" (go vote for this jira to get some capture technology built into JavaFX).

  • Video Capture with WinProducer

    Hello,
I just bought a Ti4200-VTD8X and I'm trying to capture DV type 2 avi using WinProducer. The hard drive that I am capturing it to has 50gb free but yet I am getting an error after 30-40 min that my hard drive is low on disk space. The resulting AVI file is a little over 9gb in size so there is still plenty of space left. I have captured DV type 2 avi using Studio 8 and Edition 5 with no problem. Does anyone know a fix to this problem?
    WinProducer 2.0
WDM driver 1.08 (driver without Macrovision)
    Detonator driver 45.23
    Windows XP SP1
    Thank You,
    -pjman

I have found WinProducer 2 to be feeble at doing anything other than the most simplest of editing. I did try analogue capture using the DV codec and had simular experiences. It may be memory/harddrive space but I am very sceptical though as using a decent (Media Studio Pro)video editor/capture program it does not exhibit these problems.
Also do not get confused between firewire transfer and analogue capture they are 2 total different operations. If when you used Studio8 etc you used Firewire transfer you are only transfering a file from camera to the harddrive so very little CPU time and memory is used. Where as Analogue capture using what ever codec requires lots of processing time, memory and hardrive space to process and convert/compress the video stream. Analogue video will benefit from having a dedicated harddrive just for video purposes. It may also help to kill all background tasks prior to any analogue captures, i.e. just the neccesary system programs (no virus checker etc.) and the video capture program running in memory.

  • Acquiring data from daq-pad and saving video at the same time

I am trying to record data from my daq-pad at 100 samples per second. At the same time I am using a usb interfaced camera to record a video feed. The idea is that when i begin recording data i also begin recording the video feed.
The way I record the video  feed works fine in its own VI (I need it to record at 30fps and it does this just fine). But when I integrate it with the data record/capture VI the framing rate slows down to only 10 fps. I suspect this is because the VI  gets caught capturing the data from the daq-pad thus slowing down its ability to record the video feed. I was hoping you could give me some help with how to record the data at 100 samples per second and get the VI to capture 30 frames per second. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps out.
I've attached the VI that has both the data capture and the video capture already integrated.

    Hi,
I took a look at your code and the problem is that you have both the data acquistion and the image acquistion in the same loop.  Have you tried using parellel loops?  There is more information about this in the labview tutorials that are available online if you are unsure how to do that.  The problem is that you are doing a lot of things in that loop (acquiring data, doing some analysis, and writing to file), so you can't acquire images very fast because it depends on the speed of the loop iteration.  I hope this helps.
    Have a great day,
    GG

  • JMF Video Capture, output not properly

    hello,
i'm trying to capture Video using JMStudio. my webcam is Logitech QuickCam IM, and it's detected succesfully by jmregistry. but then when i run jmstudio and start video capturing from logitech webcam, the output is only black and green, and beeping.
i don't know if anyone has ever experienced this before. what should i do to make it work?
    Thank you.

Sorry, that last post was misposted. It was supposed to go on a thread where the OP did resolve his problem. Sorry about that!
If your web cam isn't V4L compliant and only supports V4L2, then it won't work with JMF. Also, if you're using the cross-platform pack instead of the Solaris performance pack, it won't work with JMF.
Finally, if you're running it as a user with insufficent permissions to access the hardware, it won't work (try running as root just to check this).

  • 5900 Video Capture in WinDVD or Pinnacle

    Hey there,
I have the 5900XT card with VIVO, and I am at that sticking point of capturing composite video.  I have all the drivers installed for the universal NVidia capture, however, WinDVD and Pinnacle are not grabbing the output from my camcorder.  I am using composite and made sure I have the cables sorted out, but there is no obvious place to set the capture device to composite versus s-video.  In WINDVD tools, options, there is no place to specify that I am grabbing composite.  In Pinnacle, it also sees the nvidia capture device but again there is no place to specifiy that is is coming in from composite and not s-video.
Is there a software setting somwhere in the nvidia drivers that will do that?

It's in the options of the program, (WinDVD Creator)  It's right there.  I found in 5 seconds when I first tried it.
