Kt4v , Barracuda failing Windows boot after bios update

Hello
I have KT4V , i had bios 6712 v1.7 installed. I bought today Sempron 3000+ and I wanted to make it works so first i downloaded Bios update "1c0"(latest one) version and flashed my bios . Everything went fine , i restarted PC , Bios asked me to for default settings i pushed F1 , and everything was going fine (still with old CPU Athlon 2000+) , Windows started to boot , and after 2 sec of Windows getting load(Screen with blue load bar appeared for 1-2 second) RESTART , i was confused .
I installed 1.7 Bios(my old one) and still the same. Trying to find out what hapenned i unpluged my Secondary Disk (Primary SLAVE - Barracuda 120GB 7200.7) , and everything was working , windows loaded from my Primary master like always .
Everytime i plug in the Barracuda windows is restaring during boot.
What is going on ? PLZ HELP , Try to imagine how mad i`am with new CPU at my desk :((((
P.S.I made all combinations with Slave , MAster , another data cables , another supply cables . Still nothing

boot from your windows CD, and attempt a repair install of windows. clearing CMOS / updating BIOS has probably changed some settings that windows disagrees with
Repairing a Windows installation
done . Result - none , still restarting when loading the windows with Secondary Disk.
Quote
I'm not sure, have you cleared CMOS? Power off, unplug power cable, wait a minute or three, move jumper, move jumper back, power cable in and power on. And don't forget to set time and date.
done , result - none , i changed jumper settings and have been waiting for 2 minutes.

KT4V supports 333 FSB, so why did you have to upgrade Bios ? As Fred says, after each change in Bios ( upwards/downwards) you should clear CMOS.
Kt4v support FSB 333 , but it dont support all CPU , thats why there is a latest patch Quote
-Fix system reports incorrect message for AMD 3200+ CPU.
-Support Sempron L2 512K 3000+ CPU.
And I`am still with Athlon 2000+ , because my disk dont go with windows.
I unnistalles Alcohol 120% , i thought that it could be letters of drive conflict , but no :(
Bios detect harddisk perfectly .
Have no more ideas what to do :(

  • Stuck at windows starting after bios update boot

    Model: Satelitte P755-S5120
    Part NO: PSAY1U-OVD026
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
I get stuck at starting windows everytime I restart my computer. This happened right after I installed a bios update and rebooted my computer to finish it. I could never get back in.
I tried running diagnostics but it didn't seem to find any errors. I tried restarting it in safe mode and all other modes but I keep getting stuck at starting windows.
Funny thing is when I restart my computer on safe modes, I could see the files loading and on all of them it always stopped on \windows\system32\drivers\CLASSPNP.SYS
Maybe that file is corrupted, I have no idea.
Also tried repairing, and after it loads window files it goes into a black screen and it stays there, nothing happens. I let it run for an hour or so.
So any ideas? I'm not a computer guy so I don't know what else to do. Please help.

If you didn't burn a repair disc, download one from here. Scroll down to Windows 7 System Repair Disc 64-bit.
Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc
Use it to boot to the Windows Recovery Environment.
Try the Startup Repair from there. Sometimes it takes several times.
Also, run this disk check at a command prompt. It may take a long time.
       chkdsk c: /r
    Then try Startup Repair again.

This topic has been moved to BIOS.

If the computer beeps for all that, does it still indicate the board is faulty (even though it was working perfectly fine up until the bios update)?

  • Acer aspire 5560g Failing to boot after Firmware update

Hey guys, So i recently upgraded my Aspire 5560g to Windows 8.1. I liked it but it seemed to have lost my drivers in the process (my track pad scrolling didnt work and my Dolby audio origram was gone). I went to  for the drivers and decided to start with a firmware upgrade (9545 for hard disk performance).  After the computer rebooted, I entered the dreaded Windows 8.1 boot loop. It would say "Your PC ran into problems..." with the bluescreen, then turn off. Then it would attempt the Automatic repair, and fail again, then restart the cycle. I wasn't able to even get into my BIOS until I cleared my CMOS, now at least I can get into BIOS. I created a bootable USB for Windows in hopes I could do a clean install, but even when trying to boot from a USB I get the blue Windows 8 screen, "Your PC ran into problems..."
Is there a way I can undo the firmware update, it seems like the culprit, doesn't it?  Any help appreciated. Thanks EDIT: I've read that the Windows boot loop may be caused by outdated drivers. Think this could be the problem after I did the firmware update? How can I install the drivers without being able to boot into Windows? Thanks

Okay, I tried each stick at a time in both slots with the same results. Windows blue screened on both the HDD and the bootable USB. Isn't it too much of a coincidence that it started acting up after the firmware update?
To be clear, it was a firmware update for the BIOS. The page is here for the Aspire 5560G: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers I am open to more suggestions, I'd really love to get this working again after dropping the $ on Windows 8

  • Pavilion m9500y wont boot after bios update

    Hello Everyone,
I have a m9500y desktop that I recently did a bios update on. The update seemed to go through just fine but then when it rebooted it ended up beeping a few times and showed only a black screen. I removed the power cord and cmos battery and tried to power on after putting them back. It came back to the boot screen and hitting f10, it says "Entering Setup" and a flashing cursor, but doesn't get passed that. Is there a way to get into some recovery mode and reflash the bios again?
Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi,
There is one HP BIOS update available for your PC when using Win Vista 64 bit.
Is this the update that has failed? Did you attempt this BIOS update running a different version of Windows?
It may be possible to mod the BIOS update per above and flash again. Another option is to have HP reflash your PC's BIOS. The cost to have HP fix may not be worth it given your PC's introduction date in 2008.
This site may provide some help. Check out BIOS Recovery. Current HP PC's use AMI BIOS. Your PC may have an Award BIOS.
Or you could contact a local PC tech for assistance. The tech may be able to reflash the BIOS at a lower cost.
There is no easy fix for this problem.

  • Lenovo w510 will not boot after BIOS update

    Hi,
This morning I used the windows bios update utility to update my Lenovo w510 type 4318. Everything appeared to have been successful until the machine rebooted. It froze on the lenovo splash screen with text saying to press the blue think vantage button for more options.
I waited a good 30 minutes to make sure it wasn't processing anything before trying again. When frozen pressing the power button cause system to beep two times Pause and beep three more times.
Called Lenovo support and was told since out of warranty (2/12) the onlyI option is for paid mail in repair at quoted maximum of $575. Needless to say I was very dissatisfied - and made this clear to support who informed there was no way to escalate and no other options.
Does anyone have any other options or ability to escalate this case and keep a Lenovo customer. really disappointed
    Case #9026SN6
Btw, reason i updated bios to fix issue with usable ram showing 3 gb.

NEVER use the .EXE method for a BIOS update.  Always use the .ISO and the CD/DVD boot method.  Never update after the warranty expires.

  • Satellite A660 - Camera device failed to initialize after BIOS update

I bought a Satellite A660 PSAW3A-07P00R last December. Yesterday I updated to BIOS version 1.9 (did not record what version before the update). Running Windows 7 Home Premium.
After the update, I got this message when I want to use the built-in webcam. The message is "Camera device failed to initialize. Either the device is in use by another application, or it is not recognized by the system." I have tried to open the device manager but cannot find any image or camera device there. I have also download the webcam application version 1.1.1.15 from Toshiba site but it does not install.
Is it any way to revert the BIOS back to the old version? Can Toshiba look at this problem for BIOS version 1.9? Has any one come across with this and finally fix it? Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Will

    Hi
Only the ASP can revert the BIOS to early version because they could reflash the BIOS using the BIOS DOS-rational BIOS.
But the point is that if you are using the right BIOS, then the webcam should work properly in connection with the new update.
So I agree with Xardas. You should set the BIOS to default settings and should save the changes before you would leave the BIOS.
Then uninstall the webcam software and disable also some background processes which could lock the webcam. This can be done in msconfig.
I would also recommend cleaning the registry using the CCLeaner who knows whats is going wrong with the OS registry so CCleaner helps you to clean the registry entries.
After several reboots, you could try to install the webcam software once again.
    Good luck

    symptoms:
it takes around 10 or so minutes to get to the thinkpad press f1 to set up screen, after that it gives me a screen that says ME is initializing, this is after a bios update and subsequent roll back of the bios. both bios updates now give me the same result. sleep functions also seems to not work, once im into windows my t500 operates as usual.
    what I've done:
in addition to rolling back the drivers Ive disconnected /reconnected the cmos battery and turned off AMT. ive also made sure that all of my drivers are up to date.
    machine is a 2081-cto running on win7
anyone have any idea what i can do? i still have a long warranty but would like to solve it myself so i dont have any down time.

Hi guys and welcome to the forum, dinny.
You might try fiddling with the BIOS setting for the security (TPM) chip:
F1 at boot to get to BIOS setup, then Security, then Security Chip.
I have mine set to "Disabled" but have seen other reports that setting it to "Enabled" can cure bootup delays.
Worth a try, please let us know if it helps you.
    Good luck,

  • Satellite Pro L300 will not boot after Bios update

    Help please.
I have just formated a Satellite Pro L300 laptop.
I used all the updated drivers from Toshiba and all went very well.
I then updated the bios with the latest version.
After doing this the laptop will not boot but just keeps scrolling through the start menu and no matter what option I choose it just keeps doing the same thing.
    Any ides welcome

    Hi
I used the Microsoft installation disk but just keep getting to the same stage until the blue screen appears. I have tried different installation disks and also changed the hard drives as well. I can do everything in bios, change boot device enable or disable devices but that is it. I have tried a few times to instal windows but it just stops at the same point saying windows is stopping instal to protect the system. I fear the bios update has done some permanent damage as I cant get past the dreaded blue screen. Thanks anyway

  • Pavilion g6t wont boot after bios update now just black screen please help!

I downloaded an update for the bios for my pavilion g6t-1d00 laptop running windows 7 64 bit. It started acting kind of funny but I didnt think anything of it til I tried to boot it up the next day and all I got was a black screen and a orange led light on the f12 button for the internet and the caps lock button after blinking afew times started the dredded two times every couple of seconds. I tried the windows key+B key power key, no luck. I cant access anything because I have no monitor and I'm at my wits end. I refuse to wipe my hard drive and start over even if I could! I cant access hp tools or manager or anything, please someone has to have a solution!

    @Fuschia4me,
    1.       You will have to use another computer
    2.       Access the HP.com site with the BIOS updates available here is the link
    3.       You want to select the F.36 BIOS version
    4.       When you click on the update then click download and it will ask you to save or run, you want to save to a flash drive
    5.        Once done insert the flash drive into your laptop
    6.       Turn the computer on and press the windows and B key like before
If the process doesn’t work the first time I would try at least 2 more times.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks

  • T450s won't boot after bios update

Just got my new t450s yesterday.  Booted it up today and connected to the internet.  Lenovo widget popped up and told me there was an update.  It said there was a new bios update. I walked through the UI steps and it installed the new bios and then went to reboot the machine.  Machine did not post.  Any attempt to power on gets a blank screen and 2 short beeps, pause, 3 short beeps.  The Green light on the power button is currently gently pulsing.  pressing and holding the power button does nothing.  Tried unpluging and replugging both the battery and the AC adaptor and no change.  help?

Guys, I just faced the same issue. My T450s was delivered to me this afternoon. I got it home and plugged it in and was prompted for the BIOS update while I was updating Windows. Went through the UI and the machine did not come up after shutting down for the update. I found this post online and tried to factory reset but did not get a response again. Things were getting crazy and I decided to try and remove the external battery and let it drain down. But I just thought of trying the factory reset after the external battery was removed and it worked!! The machine has booted up and went straight into installing the Windows updates and I found that the BIOS has been successfully updated too. Really weird!  Seems to be running fine now. But a scary way to start off!

  • Laptop won't boot after BIOS Update

My laptop took an automatic BIOS update
Now when I try to turn on my computer it won't turn on:
    Screen is black
Power button and f12 button lights flash at 5 second intervals indefintiely
At the same interval a fan or hard drive can be heard spinning for a split second then stopping
I've tried the hard reset (Remove power and battery fo 5+ minutes, plug in power but no battery and turn on) but no affect.
The Windows key + B key with the power button for 1 second had no affect either.
I can't find any info with my exact problem (All other info seems to have blinking light codes while mine is just at a constant interval)
    Thanks!

    @B1-17 ,
Thank you for posting back.  Now based on how you are explaining the response you are getting after doing what you have done so far the next step will be to try and get a response with removing some components and then see what kind or response you get.
Here are the steps you want to follow.
First remove your memory from you notebook.  Here is a link for the Maintenance Manual that will show you how to do this.
(When Removing Or Adding Any Part To Your Notebook. Remove Battery and Power Cord.)
    1) Remove bother Memory Modules.  Put the power cord back in only.
    2) Start your notebook and see if a new flash code or beep code happens.
    3) If yes place only one memory module back in to your notebook and try rebooting.
    4) If you boot up then we have a bad stick of memory.
    5) If you still have a flash or beep code. Remove the single memory module and try the other.
    6) If this lets you boot up.  Replace memory module that is not in the notebook.
    7) If you still have the original problem or a new beep code.  Power down again.
    8) Now remove power cord then the hard drive.   Use Maintenance and Service Guide for instructions.
    9) Try booting up again and see if this changes the original flash code or beep code.
    10) If yes then replace hard drive if no then contact phone support for repair options.
At this point if there is no change in the original flash or beep code you are looking at a repair.  For information on how to get your system repaired please contact our phone support.
