~~KT4V~~ Front Panel Pin Connectors (USB + Audio)

Hello All
I have a few questions on setting up the front panel pin connectors from my case to my new KT4V board.
First question: USB
My case is usb 2.0 (Raidmax Scorpio)it has two seperate pin connectors a 4 pin and a 4 pin + GND pin on the second wire. I assume I put the GND in the JUSB1 #10 slot which is marked (USBOC) in my manual. Is this correct?
Second Question: Front Audio (Microphone, Headphones)
The front panel Audio Connector: JAUD1
The four pin connectors that my case has labeled is:
1. MIC DATA
2. MIC GND
3. EAR R
4. EAR L
I am pretty sure MIC DATA goes in pin #1, and MIC GND goes in pin #2. As far as both EAR pins, I am not sure and would appreciate some help in this.
Thanks in advance.
ncarme  :D

I know, I have the book in front of me. But the names on the board and my case are different. Thanks for the info on the usb, how about the audio inputs.
Thanks.

Can anyone help me? I have a old MS6117 MOBO and I need to connect the front panel connectors. I looked for a manual but could not find one. I know where the pins are located in the board but no idea which are the pwr switch pins etc. (The MOBO has no markings as to what pins to use for what) . Thankyou

  • H520s front panel pins motherboard

Having had my h520s for a year now night decided to upgrade it and stupidly did not check the pin connections before buying a new case, power supply and graphics card. The case I have now uses the font panel pins (power switch, reset switch etc.), but the h520s manual does not tell you what goes where, most likely as they don't want me upgrading too easily. Firstly does anyone know what pins account for what, and whether I can buy an adapter for hd audio - f audio, as there is no hd audio connection on the motherboard.
I screwed up big time, sorry.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Front panel led connectors cables problem

Anyone knows how to connect the cables for the front panel power and hdd switches and leds to the jumpers on the board? The cables have  wordings printed on one side of the cables (power led.. hdd led.. etc).. i'm not sure which side should be facing up on the board ... is it the side with the wordings facing up or the opposite side without the printed wordings ? i'm worried that i may end up short circuiting the board if i connec them the wrong way round ... thanks

The are just switches, so there is no polarity to worry about. the led's are polarity sensitive, so If they don't work, just reverse the connection; no damage will occur.

    That's what I did.
It works fine except for one thing.

  • The VXI-1394/G front panel GPIB connector is supported under WindowsNT4.

Does it been supproted under Windows2000?

IEEE-1394 is not native to Windows NT. Because of this, there are a few 3rd party 1394 device drivers for Windows NT out there. However, there are frequently issues that arise because Windows NT does not support 1394. The NI-VXI driver included a 3rd party PCI-1394 driver to allow the VXI-1394 to be used under Windows NT.
Currently, the only NI-488.2 driver that supports the GPIB port on the VXI-1394/G is for Windows NT. R&D has considered making the investment of developing a new version of NI-488.2 that will support Windows 2000. However, I do not believe a decision has been made at this time. Since a PC is already a part of your system solution, we recommend using a PCI-GPIB card installed in the PC. There are also other GPIB so
lutions, such as the GPIB-ENET and GPIB-USB.

  • No sound front panel audio with newest CMI 9880L driver

So basically I plugged in a headphone the other day on the front panel and noticed the audio jack randomly stopped working. They  worked for about 3 years and the last changes I've made was updating the CMI 9880L driver to the newest one on the MSI website for my mainboard( 915P combo), about a month ago. So I thought the problem was the new driver, I went back to the CD that came with the board and installed the audio drivers I had before, It also didnt work!. I went to the hardware manager and clicked on the ROLL BACK driver button and it installed a microsoft driver, this time the front audio jacks DID work, this means is not a hardware problem. What is going on with the new C-MEDIA driver? what should I do to restore sound to the front jacks?
ps. I messed around with the BIOS options(switching between Azalia and AC97) and nothing happened.

I am quite confused... would appreciate your help.
Well, so was I. A good explanation can be found at
    http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-015851.htm
The point is, that the same output can be used either for AC-97 front panel audio (what you have on your chassis) or for High Definition Audio (which I've never seen). The board seems to differentiate between these two by means of the PIN #4 (Presence), which you just leave disconnected in your case.
Microphone should use PINs 1, 2 and 3:
    1 - Mic In, 2 - Ground, 3 - Mic Power
Audio output should use PINs 5, 6, 9 and 10:
    5 - R-Out, 6 - R-RET, 9 - L-Out, 10 - L-RET.
After you'll have connected the PINs to the audio connectors, do not forget to turn off the jack detection in the "Realtek HD Audio Manager" as I described before.

  • P67A-GD53 (B3) Missing Front Panel Connectors

I've received a brand new P67A-GD53 (B3) board this morning and it appears to have no front panel connectors for power switch, LEDs, speaker etc.
In place of the connectors there are two black components wired into the position where the front panel pins ought to be, according to the manual.
The manual shows the correct connectors JFP1 and JFP2 and the box contained the usiual MSI 'M-Connectors' which are designed to fit on the front panel connector pins, but my board just has these odd components instead. The only way I can switch the PC on or reset it is by using the green buttons on the main board itself.
Have I got myself a non-standard version of the board? It was purchased from a trade distributor in the UK.

I got a few complaints on this subject and my first thought was pirated mainboards.

  • Does Front Panel Audio Work When Using RCA Outputs from the X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe Sound Card?

I see that the rear panel headphone output is disabled when the soundcard RCA jacks are used.
But is it possible to have the front panel audio output work at the same time that the RCA jacks are in use or is it also disabled?
I am willing to tolerate inferior quality audio feeding my monitor and use the RCA jacks for my headphone amp.

I was able to construct a work around for this problem. A Y splitter from the RCA outputs is an option but can degrade the sound because of the uneven load presented to the soundcard.
Ten eleven inch Apevia CVTAUDIOE25 HD Audio extension cables were connected together in series to a SilverStone FP32 3.5 audio front panel bay. The extension cables were connected to the front panel audio connectors on the Titanium HD sound card and then the cables were run out of the computer case and up to the area near my keyboard. I connected the front panel audio bay to the extension cable and the bay sits next to the keyboard. When no 3.5 mm stereo cable is connected to the front bay near the keyboard the sound is normal out of the rear outputs. But when a 3.5 mm audio cable is plugged into the front panel bay audio there is sound out of the SilverStone front panel bay. The sound is still muted out of the rear RCA jacks when the plug is put in the front bay but it is only used when the main audio outputs are not required.
The function for me is that the front bay serves the same purpose that the previous front panel 3.5 mm audio extension cable did.
There are photos of this under a different user name on Audio Asylum PC Audio.

  • P43-C51 Front Panel Audio

Hi, I'm trying to connect the front panel audio from my Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case to my new MSI P43-C57 motherboard.
The connectors from the case are as follows:
    MIC_IN
    MIC_BIAS
    SPEAKOUT_L
    SPEAKOUT_R
    RETURN_L
    RETURN_R
    GROUND
The manual for the motherboard lists:
    MIC L
    MIC R
    Head Phone R
    SENSE_SEND
    Head Phone L
    Ground
    PRESENCE#
    Mic Detection
    Head Phone Detection
So far I've got the ground and speakout r/l figured out (probably), and I've heard that MIC_IN and MIC_BIAS correspond to MIC L and R respectively.
Is the MIC thing correct? Also, where do the returns go?

It looks like your case is using AC'97 whereas your MOBO, and all mobos in the last several years, use HD Audio.  They're not compatible.  Does the connector from the case connection state AC'97?  Contact Thermatake and see if they have a solution or you can buy a front panel that is HD Audio compliant that fits in one of your 5" slots (for ODDs).

  • To connect a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS to a DELL dimension 8400 front panel headphone/USB jac

Open your case and look at the your front panel USB and Headphone jacks.... look for a black cable and follow it with your fingers until you get to the end. Its should be plugged into your MOBO in a white socket. Carefully unplug it and plug it into a white socket on the top of your AUDIGY. The cable is barely long enough and you might have to mess with it to get it to reach........ that's it!!!!!!!! You can now use your front panel Headphone and USB jacks with your AUDIGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK: for future reference BeatGr et al, here is the pinout for the front panel header connector on the HP P5BW-BTX motherboard:
LED HDD  1 10  LED PWR
LED HDD  2 11  LED PWR
    NC       3 12  SWI PWR
    NC       4 13  SWI PWR
    NC       5 14  NC
    NC       6 15  NC
    ->18     7 16  NO PIN
    NC       8 17  NC
    NC       9 18  ->7  (pins 7 and 18 are permanently shorted)
I am not sure of the significance of the shorted pins 7 and 18 - maybe someone else knows.
    Best wishes,

I've just recently had this similar problem. I think the issue in your case is step 3. I believe you should connect the Azalia 10pin wire to your X-fi card, not the mobo.
My problem was that i had connected AC97 10pin wire to my X-fi, after which plugging in my headphones didn't mute my speakers.
That was the problem - works great now!  Thanks

  • Front USB & audio connector

I just bought a new Aopen case with a front panel for audio and USB. Unfortunately, I don't now in wich order I have to put the plugs on the pins. I have an MS-6340M mainboard and an Aopen H500 case. These are the layouts for my USB and audio pins:
    USB connector  (USB2)
    Pin 1 - VCC
    Pin 2 - GND
    Pin 3 - USBD3-
    Pin 4 - GND
    Pin 5 - USBD3+
    Pin 6 - USBD2+
    Pin 7 - GND
    Pin 8 - USBD2-
    Pin 9 - GND
    Pin 10 - VCC
    Aopen cable
    Coffee - USB PWR
    Black - USB PWR
    Orange - USB 0-
    Green - USB 0+
    Red - USB 1-
    Yellow - USB 1+
    Gray - Ground
    Audio connector (JP1)
    Pin 1 - MIC_In
    Pin 2 - MIC_In
    Pin 3 - X
    Pin 4 - +12V
    Pin 5 - GND
    Pin 6 - GND
    Pin 7 - GND
    Pin 8 - GND
    Pin 9 - Speaker_R
    Pin 10 - Speaker_L
    Aopen cable
    Red - MIC
    Coffee - MIC_BIAS
    Yellow - FPOUT_R
    Blue - FPOUT_L
    Black - AUD GND
    Grey - RET_R
    Green - RET_L
Does somebody now in wich order I should connect the plugs? Thanks in advance,
    -WRZ Mazter

In the first place, I would like to thank you for your help with the USB connector: it's working fine right now.
For the audio connector I searched a bit around by myself and foundthis page. It lookes pretty simple now:
    Pin 1 - MIC_In : Red - MIC
    Pin 2 - MIC_In : Black - AUD GND
    Pin 3 - X : Coffee - MIC_BIAS
    Pin 4 - +12V
    Pin 5 - GND : Yellow - FPOUT_R
    Pin 6 - GND : Grey - RET_R
    Pin 7 - GND
    Pin 8 - GND
    Pin 9 - Speaker_R : Blue - FPOUT_L
    Pin 10 - Speaker_L : Green - RET_L
But I accedentily connected the ground cable to pin 4 (VCC) instead of pin 2 (GND). As I turned on my pc again, the whole black ground cable went up in smoke as a result. Fortunately my mainboard isn't damaged, and I am going to buy a new cable for the front audio connector. I'll let you know if it works.
    Thanks again for your help.
    -WRZ Mazter
P.S. if you think I am making a mistake in my scheme, could you please tell me?
