KT4V-L and MSI Geforce 440 TD8x Corrupt graphics problems

Hi all,
My mate has just recently bought the geforce 440mx MSI card, before this was a bog standard Geforce2 mx card.
Since we've put the card in, after a few minutes in windows the screen gets all corrupted which I'd put down to overheating somewhere, however the card has only been on for a few minutes AND it's not even hot, same for the cpu.
We're using the latest MSI drivers from the site, I'm not quite sure the BIOS is up to date yet but will check that next, but we've had no problems with the GEforce2 before this.
I'd probably put something down to the 8x AGP here but I'm not overly sure, has anyone got any ideas please?
many thanks
Wayne Lee

Hi,
When that type of corruption starts, it normally means that the GPU is overheating.
You better bring the card back and get a new one, as it seems to me that the GPU-cooler isn't cooling much :D
Another problem can be too little power from the powersuply.
My best guess is the GPU-cooler on the vid-card :D

  • Problem with MSI Board and MSI Geforce 4 with Windows XP

    I have a MSI 845E Max(MS-6566E)

                  Celeron 1.7 gig
                  Soundblaster Live
                  2 Network Cards
                  and the usual stuff.
I have loaded Windows 98 on my system and it works fine. But then I load Windows XP on and the system starts rebooting. After it reboots my video resets itself and I have to load it back in. I will then reboot and sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. I try playing a game or even searching the net for awhile, but out of the blue the system will give a very quick blue screen and reboot. And of course when it boots up the video is reset. I loaded all the drivers I could find on MSI's website and used every video driver made by Nvidia and MSI. If I do a Windows XP update to my system the computer will not even boot up. it will just keep rebooting when it is trying to bring up the login screen.  Anyone else run into this with Windows XP?

My system sometime freezes. Why ???

    Hi!
I have MSI GeForce NX6600GT VTD AGP installed on ABIT NF-7S 2.0 (latest bios) with Athlon XP 2400+. Power supply 350W.
I had radeon 9200 running without problems, but if i install 6600gt, monitor goes on standby. It looks like monitor receives no signal from graphic card.
But computer boots normally - I can even log on to Windows! (log on sound from speakers when i enter password)
PS is rated 13A at 12V. Fan on 6600gt IS working.

  • Msi a55 e33 + r7 260x Graphics problem + amd cpu temps?

Hello, i have some problems with my new build
    My system is,
    cpu: amd athlon 750k
    mobo: a55e33 msi (bios 11.4)
    Gpu: sapphire r7 260x
    ram: corsair vegeance 4gb
    psu: corsair vs450
    1) The problem is like this, whenever i don't do anything on my pc the monitor goes black and the pc crashes sound stucks some times and i have to reboot... tried several gpu drivers some crashes right away and some are like this.. is this a gpu issue ? Anyone with same experience ?
    2) Second problem my cpu temperature is inaccurate and the only program that display a temp is cpuid hwm, cpu idles at 40-50c and goes as far as 80c based on the program... that was with stock cooler, upgraded cooler with an alpenfohn sella (deepcool rebrand) and the problem persists, temps were similar even with older bios version and the same older version board... is this a cpu problem ?
ps. Prime 95 for 4 hours hwm indicates 80c touched cooler with bare hand multiple times during this period not even near this temp even at the lower end of the cooler ...
    thanks 4 any suggestions

    Hi,
my idea is that your power supply is not efficient enough for r260x.
    Try without the graphics card.
About the CPU temps, try to reapply the thermal paste. (when you've exchanged the cooler, have you cleaned the CPU?)
It also might be the problem with the software (or BIOS). Spend couple of $ and buy an external CPU temperature checking tool (don't know proper name of it).
Power supply is enough for the gpu probably driver issues as other users have the exact same problem with the same card, cpu temps are definitely mobo/bios or cpu related yes yes i cleaned the cpu i cleaned everything and reapplied ic diamond .. temps are the same with stock cooler and aftermarket cooler can't be coincidence + no program indicates temps other than hwm
Take notice i had 2 msi a55e33 one with bios 11.1 and another one which came with 11.4 from factory
Conclusion ? or the cpu is broken or the mobo indicates wrong temperatures

  • Msi GX60 (AMD Radeon 7970M Graphics PROBLEM)

Ok so I got this laptop as a gift awhile back. Ever since I have never been able to get the dedicated graphics working. The Radeon HD 7970M. I've tried disabling the integrated and the screen kinda glitches up and freezes so I just turned it off and when it was turning off it decides to configure windows (believe this happens everytime i disable it). When I turn it back on I get this amd driver error called "Graphics" and this is what it says, "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware." I have tried doing this many many times, uninstalling and reinstalling different drivers for it and it still does not want to work. Whenever I disable the integrated the dedicate also shows this little yellow triangle in device manager. I heard the specs on the msi GX60 are pretty nice and I'd really love to use it's power, i'd very very VERY much appreciate the help! it would mean everything to me.
Oh and one more thing, in device manager when I right click on it and go to properties it says this under "Device status" Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
I'll be on all day checking this thread, I am definitely capable of giving more information if needed! i'll just need some directions

oh and ever since i got the computer brand new, windows update will not work.
    "Downloading updates..."
"Downloading 62 updates (0 KB total, 0% complete)
and it stays like this. yes I have connection to the internet, everything else can connect.
maybe it has something to do with the graphics card problem i'm having?

  • K7N2 and msi gforce 4mx 440 problem

Well, I have an MSI K7N2 Motherboard (with Nforce 2 chipset), Athon XP 2400+, and
MSI StarForce GForce 4 MX 440 64mb DDR, it works ok, but there is something that keeps
my attention, when the machine starts, no Legend about the VGA CARD is shown, like
GeForce 4 MX 400 Card, or something like that, all the cards I know do that, but this not,
I`ve changed my card (other =), but I still have the same problem, can anybody help me?????

In my evperience, the ATI cards do not seem to show a bios flash screen, I've been told by a system builder that it has something to do with the delay sending a signal to the monitor???, anyways, my old system running a Radeon 8500 never showed a vga bios screen, and the same card did not show one on my K7N2-Delta board either.  But 3 different nVidia cards all show a VGA bios upon boot (gf4 Ti4200, gf2 mx400, and gf2 ultra).  Either way, as long as your card is working, don't wory about it.

  • MSI Geforce 3 WDM and bios problem plz help!!!

    Hi
I have a MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Pro-VT and when i install any detenator driver above 23.11 then the capture card wont work! The driver for the capture device says it wont start so i am stuck with 23.11. I have tries later WDM drivers and detenator drivers but they all give the same problem! I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. This it the information:
    VGA Card Manufacturer MSI
    VGA Card Model Name MS-8850
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version 3.20.00.18.03
    VGA Card Driver Version 2311
Can someone please help me cause it would be nice to have the latest drivers working for the card.
    Thanks
    Nixus

I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin

  • MSI GeForce 4 TI 4200 and random lockups

Hey guys, i just got a new Geforce card, installed it, and i cant do ANYTHING even remotely related to graphics (even small animated movies on the internet) without a hard lockup or my screen going blank.

    Netgear 10/100 NIC
    Soundpbaster 16
    Maxtor 80gig HDD

2 port Firewire adapter (dunno what brand)
edit: 512mb of PC2100 DDR RAM

    Orm,
To start with your power supply could be too weak to run the Athlon XP(Guessing you have an Athlon XP) and the GF4 under load.  150W combined and 14A on the 3.3v RAIL is not enough.
You could try removing your your firewire, sound and nic cards, and unplugging your two CD Drives.
See if you can get any farther then.  Also get the latest Detonator Drivers from the nVidia Website. They should be on 41.09 now.
    Good Luck,
    Richard
P.S. Which OS are you running?

  • MSI K7N2-IL 2M/B and MSI MS-StarForce GeForce FX 5900 Ultra

    Hi
I wonder if you could help me.
I am curious, the below is the spec of my machine.
AMD Athlon XP 3000 + 333 FSB CPU
    MSI K7N2-IL 2M/B
256 GEFORCE FX 5900 ULTRA GRAPHICS
though the graphics card is reported as MSI MS-StarForce GeForce FX 5900 Ultra [Nividia GeForce 5900 Ultra] in Windows control panel.
I am needing to learn more about exactly what is what in this PC.
I have installed MSI Live monitor and have upgraded to NVIDIA nForce System Drivers though my graphic driver is still reported as 4.4.0.3 or 43.51 [another question why are there two versions given to graphic drivers?]
As Live monitor doesn't report any further updates possible when there are newer Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website - can I install these ?
Also I am looking for a utility to monitor, change fan speed and temperature, is the Nvidia  system utility ok to use?  It says that it's only compatible with
    nForce3 Pro
    nForce3
    nForce2
I'm not sure if I only have Nforce ?
I would really appreciate any help you may give - I know that the above probably sounds as if I'm as thick as 2 short planks.
    Thanks in advance

    nVidia Drivers
you can get all your drivers there
    both board drivers and vga
you can use speedfan for temp

boards hardware does not support changing fan speeds though

  • MSI Geforce 4 MX 420 - freezes and crashes

Right, ok people, hi, now, i'm sorry that this is a newbie question which has gone before many times, but i dont know much about any of this so i need an explicit answer which will tell me exactly what i have to do. And to a guy who know nothing about computers, trying to wade through this entire forum to  find the answer is tricky.
    :D
Ok, heres the o-so familiar problem.
Computer freezes in windows, causing slow downs and currently it resets itself when this happens.
I think i got the idea that the Geforce was slowing down.
It also wont run some games, which i'm sure were running before the Geforce - Star Wars Supremacy for example, but it runs others, such as Homeworld.
I also vaguely picked up the idea about power.
My power supply says 200 watts, with a peak of 235.
    I have-
    an ASUS A7S333
    A duron 1.2ghz
    MSI Geforce 4 64 mb
    Hauppage Win TV card
    3com lan network card
    256 mb ram
    56k modem
So i guess the question i'm asking is: what do i do to solve the problems (simply please, i'm an idiot)

    *bump*
Sorry to bump this, but i really could do with an answer, its not helping uni work when the damn thing resets every so often (although i can usually see it coming) and i know everyone else is also trying to get an answer, but if anyone can help out i'd appreciate it. I'm pretty sure the power output problem is the right one, but i would like to hear it from someone who knows more about it than i do first. (will a 300W supply be enough? and is there anything else i'm going to need?)
    Again, thanks for your time.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL and eVGA GeForce 6600 GT

For 3+ months now, I have not been able to get these two components to work together.  I have RMA'd my video card three times and spent countless hours or work and stress trying to solve this problem.  I tested and tried every other component in my system and they all checked out.  Finally, I did some research on my motherboard, and it turns out there have been numerous reports of it not being compatible with Nvidia video cards.  My motherboard says VER 1.0 on it.  What happens is when I play any game or watch any video, the system will lock up and restart, many times giving me a BSOD of nv4disp.dll being the culprit.
Now it turns out my motherboard may have been the problem all along.  With the amount of time and money I have put into this problem, and if it turns out to in fact be caused by the motherboard, I expect a full replacement or repair by MSI at no charge.  This is just ludicrous.

    Josh,
FYI... when I was researching a video card for my MSI board I found a forum that indicated that eVGA vidoe cards don't work well w/MSI boards. I bought a 6800GT by Gigabyte and have had no problems at all. Not sure MSI could get you a board that will work, but through research, eVGA is the only card that isn't compatible w/ MSI...
