KT6 Delta All Four Red Lights Help

I just purchased a kt6 delta and I am trying to get it going.  I am upgrading from a KG6-RAID.  I moved everything over, and got ready to try it out, and when  I turned it on I get all 4 red lights.  Then I tried the parts on the old Mobo and things boot up.
I removed everything, so all I have is 1 ram stick, the processor, and a video card.  Here is what I have in there.
kt6 Delta
xp 1700
Name brand hsf (forget what it is, but its certified for xp1700).
256 meg Crucial 2100
Leadtek ti4200 card
Antec pp-303x psu ( http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/p303x_spe.html ) .  Psu has been in use for less then 3 months.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.  Thank you.

I think I am reading this correctly.
+5v - 7-30a
+12v - 1-10a
+3.3v - .5-14a
I have tried it with no memory, and with a Centron (generic) stick.  Both 2100.   Both check out on other motherboards.
I have artic silver between the heatsink and processor.
I'm thinking if anything it could be the power supply, but I don't know.

  • Four Red Lights - new system

I've assembled a new system, when trying to start it I get four red LEDs from the D-panel that comes with the board.
    The specs:
    MSI K8T Neo FIS2R
    A64 2800+
    512 Corsair Value Select
    GF 5600 Ultra (temp)
IBM 60G IDE HD, Maxtor 60G IDE HD
    Tagan 480W PSU (http://www.tagan.com)
I've tried this with two CPUs and get the same results with both, four red lights.  Any ideas?

    Things to do in order...
Create a sig that contains them. It is impossible to give specific help when we have no idea what parts we are talking about. Keep in mind that no one wants to hunt if the thread gets long.
Reset CMos as per your manual.
Try just one stiuck of RAM.
Try the other stick or an older stick.
    Try other memory sockets.
Once you get to bios set to defaults and then set the memory speed to the correct setting for your ram and leave all others at auto.
Set specific memory timings as per your RAM.
Let us know wehn you get a system post or not.

  • Belgian Problem : Four Red Lights

    Hello everyone,
I think the "Four Red Lights on D-Bracket" problem is back...  ;(
I have been running a MSI KT3 Ultra with an Athlon XP 1700+ (0,18 µm) coupled with a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ for months now without any problems.
But yesterday my system hung after a few minutes work. As it was the FIRST one I got with this card, I was a little bit surprised but finally thought this could happen even to the best ones...
I simply rebooted but then had to realize there was going wrong with it. My system hangs during the initialisation of my SCSI devices... strange... really strange. I powered off my computer, wait a few minutes and restarted it. And guess what? Black screen with 4 red lights on D-Bracket.
I read the manual and found out that my CPU was wrong. That's really strange because I did not modify anything (no overclocking by the way!)...
I tried to find out what the problem could be by removing unnecessary components (like SCSI adapter card, sound card, network card,...), by clearing CMOS (after I read this nice forum), by re-installing my CPU (with fresh thermal compound) but did not resolve the problem
Another evidence that my system was correctly installed was the temperature I got during the past months : about 38°C
Do you think my motherboard simply died?  8o
    Thanks for your help

I've experienced the four red led lights too. It happened right after I changed the BIOS settings for my CPU internal timing from 'Normal' to 'Ultra'. After I saved the setting, my monitor went blank.
I finally solved it after 2 days. I tried multiple times in clearing the Bios to no avail (5x). So even though MSI says the four led lights is because of a 'damaged or mis-installed proc' it's sometimes not the case.
    1. I unplugged the power cable from the PSU
    2. I took out the CMOS battery
    3. I put the jumper on 'clear' bios.
I went to work for a 10 hour period.
When I got back home, I did the steps below per a forum post I read at work.
    4. I press and held the case 'Reset' button for about 30 secs (supposely, it would drain the capacitors)
    5. Then I set the Bios jumper back to normal setting.
    6. Then I press the 'Reset' button for about 20 more secs.
    7. I put the CMOS battery back in.
    8. I plugged the power cable backup and crossed my fingers.
I booted up and I still saw four led lights, then the lower right one changed to green and I knew I was in business.
My theory is that somehow, the Bios still retained the 'Turbo' settings when I set the jumpers to clear the Bios multiple times. I think over the period of one day w/ out the battery the BIOS made have defaulted back to the normal settings and/or the addition pressing the reset button drained the capacitor and reset the BIOS.

don't really need more power, the only thing I want, is USB2.0, Firewire400, optical audio output, onboard Raid and some more oc features
Well, you'll like the KT6 Delta FIS2R for sure.
Of all the mobo's ive studied, none have as many USB2 inputs on the back of the board where all the other ports are. This has 6 ready for direct use without any pci slot blocking dongles. (8 with the USB2/Diagnostic lights dongle installed).
It sure has optical output, but the sound quality from it isnt as good as an Audigy.
The promise controller is very good, letting you use 2 PATA and 2 SATA at the same time.
Firewire use a pci slot blocking dongle but has 3 sockets (2 big and 1 small)
As for OC, ive tried above 200mhz FSB (208 Mhz) but it was a little unstable, not sure why, never really tested it out.

  • [Athlon64] Four Red Lights

    Running:
    K8T Neo2
    Athlon 64 3000+
    512mb Samsung PC3200
    420W Generic Turbolink PSU
    MSI FX7500LE
It's all put together and when I turn the sucker on the D-bracket thingy shows all red LEDs. Could my CPU be damaged or really incorrectly installed? Or could it be my PSU? I'm kinda at my wit's end fiddling with bits and swapping parts. Any insight at all is greatly appreciated.

This is usually caused by RAM timings being read wrong from the Bios. Take out all but one stick of RAM and also do a Bios Reset with the machine unplugged. Now go into Bios and set the RAM timings there as per what the maker recommends for A64's. Also set VDimm as per their recommends. Shut down, Unplug and reinstall your other RAM. Now you should be OK.
If for some reason it does not go into Bios using just one stick then try an older stick of like PC2100 or some such and you should get in.
I only have the one stick of PC3200 512mb on hand right now. I've kinda been away from PCs for a while (I bought a Mac, I'm sorry!) so most of my parts are of the PC100/133 persuasion.
So I need to return a piece to the shop today. I guess I ought to try the ram? You suppose I ought to get a replacement 512 or maybe two 256 instead so I can test?
Thanks so much for the help! This forum is a great resource.

  • KT6 Delta won't boot - Compatability Issue?

I am upgrading two systems and neither will boot.

Should JPW1 connecter be used? I do not see anything to plug into it
    Help!

I found the following in a September post:
    JPW1
When MSI designed the TURBO2 board, they included the jpw1 as a just in case sort of a thing. The original atx plug is what you need to use. The jpw1 can be used too, IF your p/s has the p4 style connecter that plugs into it. If it doesn't, and you are experiencing no problems with stability, do not worry about it. This plug provides the cpu with it's own source of power. All newer power supplys that are p4 ready, come with this plug. I bought a new supply,so I use it ,but there are lots of TURBO2 owners that are not using it, and are not experiencing any problems. Good luck with your rig,BIGDADDY51 CT.USA edit: I reread your post .Plug it in it won't hurt.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • HELP! G5 not booting! red light turns on in the processor area

    hi,
i have a dual 2.5ghz g5 and for a couple of days it's been acting weird. when i try to boot i hear the chime and before it finishes, it abruptly mutes and a red light goes on in the upper part of the processors area. I have seen through the side of the computer that the light is somewhere close to the processors. The computer does not continue booting, it just remains with the red light on and the fans working at normal speed.
At first it happened one time (yesterday) and then it worked normally. Now it won't work at all, even after letting it rest for a couple of hours.
Does anyone know what that light means? I hadn't seen it before. Could it be that the processor is running too hot? I live in a hot area and there's been a hot wave these days. It's reaching 87 F degrees inside but I believe that's within the correct operating temp. range.
Any help will be appreciated, and the fastest you can answer the better because i really need that computer!!
I hope it's nothing serious that require taking it to repair because I don't live near any repair service. Please help me!
    thanks in advance!
dual 2.5 Ghz Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I don't think it is a heat related issue. I've got the same problem with a dual 2.7GHz G5 that's operating in a temperature controlled machine room. Or if it is a heat related issue, it's not an environmental temp problem, but some failing component.
I ran Hardware Test on it and it indicates that everything is fine with it, but as soon as it is rebooted, it does that half chime and then nothing. No status lights on the logic board either.
Once it's on, it seems to stay operating just fine. shrug

  • Urgent! Please Help on KT6 Delta

I mounted the sistem on AMD XP 1800, i had it on a motherboard soltek sl75drv5 and was working 100%.
I put thermal grease and all that on the cpu, but when a start the system, like 30 seconds later, it starts to make a sound in the cpu area, like if something is frying or like electricity sparks, or like a cable being it by the fan.
There's no cables near the fan, i removed all thermal grease and put new one, i have a NoiseBloker Fan on the cooler.
I can't understand why is it making this sound, i don't leave it to much time on, cause the noise starts to increase, so i just leave like 1 minute on in the BIOS.
Can anyone please give any hint on this? I have tons of work to do, and have this machine stoped cause i'm affraid to ruin mb or cpu.
Someting i noticed in the bootup, is that the cpu isn't defined correctly, it detects a AMD 1150Mhz, should be amx xp 1800+ or 1533Mhz, and also the DDR's speed says 266mhz, and all 3 slots are 333Mhz.
Is there something wrong with board??
I appreciate all help possible, i've been all day around this stuff and can't fixed.

If your motherboard did come with a northbridge fan then it's likely that it's probably buzzing mine does that when I mount it wrong it usually takes a few tries before I can get it to be nice and quiet.
    Quote
When you said "Is there any chance you missed an extra standoff behind the board?", i don't understand very well what you mean, but i read another article that said that those pieces could cause problems.
But then, how do i support the board without those metal pieces? as they were working fine on old board.
Some boards have different mounting hole locations so when you had soltek board there could a slight possibility that it had maybe one or more mounting holes that aren't in the same locations as on the KT6 Delta. Metal standoffs cause problems if they touch a trace on the underside of the motherboard, but when mounted correctly in the hole they only touch either pcb or grounded traces. It's impossible to screw a motherboard in easily without standoffs the ports on the back wouldn't line up, and the screws would have a very tough time reaching the holes which would be a bit smaller than normal screws used to mount the motherboard.
The electrical sound you're hearing I'm guessing is from the power supply looking at some Cheiftec power supply numbers, and they don't fare to well, and don't look like a good quality unit that would last long enough.

  • BB Curve 8900 died and will not turn on with the red lights on all the time

    Hey all
The Blackberry Curve 8900 I have battery completely drained yesterday afternoon and I could not connect it to a charger until I get back home last night.  I plugged the phone in around 11:00 , and even now 8 in the morning still wont be able to switch it on and the red light is on all the time.
Its a brand new one, I dont know what should I do to make it working.
    Thanks for all your help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, these batteries do not like to be fully drained...while rare, it has been known to render the battery useless. But, before you jump to that, there are a few diagnostic steps you can take.
Get a known good and fully charged battery -- put in in your BB. See if it works. See if you can charge.
Get a known good other charger, attach it to your BB, see if it charges.
    Try a different power outlet.
Give your battery to someone with the same model BB that they know charges fine. See if they can charge it.
The results of these steps will guide you to the root cause...which could be your battery, your BB, your charger, or the wall outlet you were using.
    Good luck!

  • Red Light and iTunes problems! Please help!

My macbook is a little more than a year old. Just recently a little red light came on inside the headphone jack and the internal speakers will not work any longer.
Well, I searched online and read about the "switch" that sometimes gets thrown off or whatever. I've tried locating this switch with a toothpick and small metal rod, but I can't find it. If I hold the metal rod in a certain way, the light will go off momentarily. And if I hold the headphone jack in a certain way, the internal speakers will work momentarily.
And just recently, iTunes has started acting up. I play a song, and it will play through the speakers. I take the plug to the speakers out of my macbook and plug it back in, and iTunes will not play the song. It states that it is playing, but no sound is coming out of the speakers that had just worked prior to unplugging them. I have to restart iTunes for it to work.
I can't afford to send my Macbook in.
    Please Help!
    =(

Now, on top of all of this, I have to jiggle the headphone switch around to even get full sound; otherwise sound only comes out of one side
    Someone please help
I can neither afford to call Apple, or afford to send my computer in
And it's been a little over a year since I've had it
This is seriously horrible, horrible customer service
    I'm extremely disappointed
I've never been rough with my macbook. I take the headphone plug out one day and this happens
    Please help!!!

  • KT6 FISR 4 Red Lights Good CPU

I just replaced my old KT4 Motherboard with a new KT6 FISR and a ATI 9500 128MB Video card.  I get nothing but 4 red lights.  Look in book says it's a probable bad CPU.  Unplug everything but memory, CPU, video and look at lights.  Same thing 4 red lights.  Try another CPU same thing 4 red lights.  Try to pull Video, no beeps just 4 red lights.  Try to pull memory and video, no beeps 4 red lights.  Take this CPU out and try in another MB, no problem works fine.  Is this a bad motherboard?  I can't think of anything else to try.

I think you both have hit it on the head.  I will go to my house and check.  I don't think the 4 plug is plugged in know that I think about it.  (Too many good shows on TV  :D)
I will let you all know as soon as I check.
