KT6 Delta and XFX 6600GT Problems

I have had this mobo for a while now and have not had any problems until today.
I recently got a XFX brand Geforce 6600GT AGP video card.
I uninstalled the drivers for the current 5900 card and installed the new card and here is my problem.
With the new card in, it will first see the bios of the video card then go to the boot screen where the system memory test is done. Once this test is done it hangs. Doesnt do anything. Cant even get back into bios. Crossed the jumper and get back into bios. reset all settings and reboot. Same thing.
I reinstalled the 5900 with no problems. have run msi autoupdate and updated the bios to the current version and the via chipset drivers still wont work.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this card to work with this system>?

Sorry,
Spec's are:
MSI Kt6 Delta-LSR
Barton XP2800
Windows XP-SP2
Thermaltake 480W
1G Corsair 3200C2
WD 80G
Maxtor 160G
Audigy Platinum
NEC 2500A
Samsund dvd-rom
(Nothing is overclocked)
Rails read (live)
3.3v = 3.38v
5     =  5.13
12    =  11.98
Just seems that its an issue with either the bios or the chipset?? Dont know.
The emachine has a P4 but it is an older emachine. When I hooked it up to
the P4 I didnt even have the molex plugged in and it worked!
I currently have the PNY 5900 and all is well. Posts and boots.
Im about to give up on the 6600 unless someone can rescue me!

  • KT6-Delta bios 5.7 problem

hi I've recently installed an update on the bios on my motherboard (update 5.7 for kt6-delta)
and ever since i installed it my internet won't connect, it detects the drivers but the internet can't send the pass username to mts.
is this a known bug? or was there just an error installing the update and should rewrite the bios possibly with an earlier update or is there some other problem i might not have considered because every time i install bios updates it resets my preferences in the bios

    Hello,
Are you saying that the LAN appears to be working but no Data flows in or out?
    All network activity is dead?
I have had this problem too on my KT6 delta.
When you flash the BIOS it changes the memory and CPU settings.
Also after a BIOS flash you should clear the CMOS using the Jbat jumper.
(turn PC off to do this)
If you enter the BIOS and disable the LAN,
DO your CPU and memory settings,
    save and exit.
Go into windows, delete the lan from device manager
restart PC, it should be gone.
Then restart again, enter the BIOS enable the LAN, save and exit.
windows so detect it again, does it now work?

  • MSI KT6 Delta and Auto update page problem

Hi, I have been lookin for the right forum to post this on for awhile heh but I have an MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R which has an auto update feature that uses an icon on ur desktop called MSI Live Update. This utility has been working for quite some time now but all of a sudden i get an error message in quote
"Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'
Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
    /autobios/VerChk/XSeries.asp, line 105"
I have been on a few sites including microsofts to try and figure out the problem but i get nothing concrete or at least anything i can understand, so I hope someone out here does and if so please help me! thank u

okay well I did that but does not seem to be working... also after just reading FAQ i noticed that the live update service is being updated which coul dbe causing the problem as well, but i dont know how accurate the date is on that I mean it is a FAQ. So.. is anyone else with this board having the same problem right now?

  • KT6 Delta and memory problems

Before I begin let me post my specs:
    Mobo: KT6 Delta
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2700+ @ 166 FSB
    RAM: 1 stick Corsair 512MB DDR400
    P/S: 430W
Now that that's out of the way..... I got a stick of Elixir 256MB DDR466 today for Christmas.  Now keep in mind the KT6 Delta is only supposed to support up to DDR400, but it should still work, right?  Well, when I put in the new memory, my mobo only reads the new 256MB stick.  The old 512MB stick works fine by itself, though.  I've tried switching the sticks around and putting them in different slots, but nothing seems to work.  I even tried forcing the SDRAM Frequency to 400MHz under the BIOS... nothing.
Should there be a way to make this configuration work with certain BIOS settings?  Or will I have to return the gift?
    Thanks.

I can understand getting a problem from mixing different memory speeds, but we have 4 computers in our household and we've been mixing sizes and brands for a while now, so your post took me by surprise.  In fact, my youngest brother used to have a 256, a 64, and a 16MB stick, all of different brands, and some of which were overclocked.   From my experience I wouldn't say it "almost always" causes a problem.  I don't doubt your expertise though, you've clearly been here longer than me.  I'm just trying to understand what's going on, and this whole thing has left me a bit confused.
But whatever.  I'll see if the gift can be returned. Thanks.

  • KT6 Delta and HALT command detection

Hi, I have one KT6 Delta LSR with bios 5.2 and it seems work ok. The only problem is that (differently than KT4 Ultra and KT3 Ultra 2),  when I enable in the power management BIOS the "HALT command detection" option, I don't get any decreasing of the CPU temperature and of PC power consumption. The CPU is an Athlon XP 2600+ Barton. The same CPU mounted on the KT4 Ultra drop from 33°C to 22°C when HALT detection is enabled. (Temperatures in idle staus, of course)
Does someone know the reason? Could you try to enable the HALT detection on your KT6 and see what happen?
...I choose MSI also for use just this option!

  • MSI KT6 Delta and xp2600(333) cpu clock

I am new to this so thanks in advance to everyone. This may not be a pure overclocking issue but it seemed like a good active forum.
Just put together a kt6 delta lsr and xp2600(thoroughbred B 333 fsb machine). The 2600 according to AMD(and everything else I have seen) should be clock speed of 166 x 12.5 as the multiplier...so up to 2.088 GHz. The BIOS on this board doesn't separate the 12.5 from the 13(I hope there are others out there that have had this) as it is 12.5/13.
Now when I install and do the BIOS stuff if I pick the 'auto' selection I get BSOD with some cryptic error code. If I manually pick the 12.5/13 multiplier it doesn't work either. I have managed to get 163,164, 165 'auto' or 12.5/13 at times but it is not stable. Sisandra didn't like it at all.
I am currently settling for 166 or 167 x12 as this has been extremely stable and functional(3-4 hour video compressions have worked great). If I go any higher to 168-170 I have had some issues and not totally stable(not as bad as the 12.5/13 mulitplier I used with 163,164 etc).
Now since the 'manual' multiplier is 12.5/13 together does this mean by choosing 'auto' it uses the same one, it seems like it so hence it may be trying to push the 13 at which point the RAM or something may be causing errors. ??? ( just some thoughts as I attempt to reason)
Almost all my components are new except for the harddrives but can't imagine that has anything to do with it all. So basically I have a good cpu but can't utilize it to the fullest and have to 'overclock' just to get to where it should be operating. I can't seem to approach that either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. If there are settings/setup that I forgot please just ask.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
My temperatures seem fine. Low 40's. Even after 4-5 hours of video compression with the 167 x12 that I am using I only hit 43 or so.
I do wonder if anyone else out there as they same set up in terms of the same xp2600-333 chip and this motherboard. That choice of multipliers still seems odd.  I think I may have mentioned it but does the 'auto' use just 'select' from the choice of multiples that we can pick manually? Unless it creates its own multiple that must be the problem. Can it oscillate between the 12.5 and 13 and hence just screw things up?
    Thanks.

  • KT6 Delta and Hercules Fortissimo?

    Hi all,
Picked up one of these last week.  My onboard audio would stutter... figured I'd solve that by picking up a Fortissimo and disabling onboard.
Unfortunately, the Fortissimo makes a BZZT! noise periodically when playing audio, like the noise a handshake shocker thing would make.
I tried disabling all hardware acceleration, and the Hercules tech support people didn't have anything to say other than, "it could be defective".  I ordered this online and would hate to go through the hassle of sending it back.
    Any ideas?

Yes, that's the part that apply to sound probs. as your's. Best way to check is taking Mobo out of case, putting on isolated surface, and testing if problem goes.

  • Difference between KT6 Delta and KT6V ?

What is the difference between the 2 boards ? I ordered a KT6V board from E-buyer in the UK and received a KT6 Delta one which is slightly more expensive. Am I right in saying that the KT6 Delta supports IDE Raid ?

KT6 delta has a different audio codec and NIC
KT6v has realtek audio codec and NIC
KT6 delta has Cmedia codec and broadcom NIC
As for RAID, They all have serial raid,
    KT6V - SR = serial raid
    KT6v - LSR = lan, serial raid
kt6 delta = LSR = lan, serial raid
kt6 delta = FISR = Firewire, lan, serial raid
    kt6 delta = FIS2R = Firewire,lan, serial raid + promise serial raid

  • GF4 TI 4400 problem on KT6 Delta

    I have a Gforse4 TI 4400 128mb on my KT6 Delta mobo.
The problem is that there is LOOOTS of coloured dots on the screen and the comp reboot offen for no reason.
I have the newest nvidia drives + VIA 4 in 1.
I read here earlier that i could be that the PSU is to weak. I have a enermax max 350w silent (http://www.ocaddiction.com/reviews/psu/enermax_3g365p/)
It says both 185 and 350w on it. I cant figure out if its a +3,3 +5 or +12w.
Can i sheck/configure this in BIOS??
The GF4 works fine on my other comp with a old asus mobo and a Chieftec ATX 360W PSU.
    Is the enermax to weak??

Yeah, i am haveing the same problem wif my brand spanking new MSI TI4200 8xagp.... i got it 2 days ago, the card worked fine for the first day, then when i was playing Neverwinter Nights, it looked like some of the pixels in the screen had been lost, i changed the res, and still had the same problem. i rebooted the pc and still had the same problem.... its strange though, i uninstalled the drivers, and the problem was gone, then i installed the lates nvidia drivers and had it again... its strange, i will now go and remove some of the fans and my cold cath, they might be draining too much power for the card to use properly... but i am using it now. its strange this problem is. i got a 400watt psu, but i dont really know if thats the problem... im off to remove some fans.

  • KT6-Delta-FIS2R and Hercules 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE

Just got this board and tested it a little. It works fine, but I have a one problem with picture on the monitor. It has horizontal lines that jumps left and right.
Tested it only motherboard, cpu, memory and power attached. And finally found that if you increace the AGP voltage to 1.6 V, it goes even worse.
Display adapter: Hercules 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE.
    Memory: Kingston 512 MB DDR400.
    CPU: AMD XP 2500+

I updated BIOS after I have tried everything else. I also tried clearing and not clearing cmos after that. No matter which way you make it, result is the same. In next boot after updating the BIOS, I don´t get that screen flickering. But it says that bios settings are invalid press F1 to go to bios or F2 to load defaults and continue. If I go to setup and change or don't change setting and quit saving them. Next boot it's flickering again. If I press F2 and continue, it works fine until next boot.
I borrowed that nVidia card from my friend to test that my own  Radeon 8500LE is working properly. And windows drivers have nothing to do with this, because it's flickering from the beginning of the system boot.
Hope this cleared some things... ;-)
Oh yeah, one more really really strange thing. I put in my ATI RADEON 8500LE and loaded it to Windows (2000). Off course it flickered very much. But in Windows when I move my mouse fast horizontally it almost stops flickering. And when I stop that, flickering is back.
I really don´t know what is happening?!?? =)
Is there anyone who could test KT6 Delta and Hercules Radeon 8500LE together?

  • KT6 Delta Momentary Power

Ok. I just got my KT6 Delta and installed everything. I turned it on, and the fans and powersupply would turn on for about 1 second, then the computer would shut off.
To turn it back on, I would have to turn the PSU off, unplug the power cord, reconnect, turn PSU on, then hit the power button.
I uninstalled everything except for the CPU/HSF. Same problem. THEN When I removed the square 4pin 12v PSU cable for the CPU, it would power on, and the CPU Fan would run constantly - so the MB is getting power. When I plug the 4 pin connector back in - momentary power, then it shuts down again.
I've tried 2 powersupplies with the same effect - 350W Enermax, and a 350W no-namer junk. I've uninstalled/reinstalled CPU/HSF, took MB out of case - Everything. Any recommendations? I've scoured for hours all over the internet and the forums. I've seen other people with the same style of problem, but no answers.

It was the middle of the night. I'd tried putting the CPU in and out at least twice. I was sick and tired of trying...BUT, I figured one more try before I took it back. I reinstalled the CPU...and BAM - It worked. My computer is running now -
BUT, I have a 92mm Vantec Tornado as a processor fan, but my MSI board won't slow the fan down AT ALL - constant 5000rpm. It's like running a dustbuster at arms length. I've tried SpeedFan and all the MSI tools (Corecenter, etc) So, I spent the rest of the night trying to figure that out - no answers. I guess I'll have to get a new, quieter fan.
Funny thing is, I have the same Vantec Tornado on my Intel D850EMV2 board, and it automatically slows it down to a whisper. Guess Intel's fan control acctually works.
Oh, and I had to buy a copy of Windows XP, because Microsoft says I've exceeded my activation limit. Microsoft can kiss my ass while counting my money. Bastards.
    Aren't computers fun?

  • KT6 Delta bootup stall or monitor turn off

    Hi
I recently  upgraded my motherboard to a KT6 Delta and I have expreienced some boot up problems.
The PC can boot up normally and just before the windows xp flash screen appears the green LED on my monitor will turn orange..as if on standby, the pc is still operating as the fans can be heard.  I then need to press the reset button and the pc will then reboot.
The reboot is sometimes quick, however, at other times this reboot often pauses at the "Via Technologie ATA Raid Bios SettingUtility v1.10...Scan Devices, Please wait......" message for about a minute and it will then procede to boot into XP perfectly fine.
I do not have any serial HD's connected.
Any points or ideas here would be useful.
    Thanks.

KT6 Delta (MS-6590) with drivers from the cd included with the MB..today I checked with MSI live update and downloaded and installed the most recent via drivers.
Bios is American Megatrends Inc...version07.00T..build date is 04/02/01.
ATI Radeo 9600 (not Pro) with XP 2600.
I have already done a clean install bu the situation is the same. I have no stability problems when XP does boot up....
The switching off of the signal to the monitor on each and every single initial boot up is what I am having difficulty getting my head round, specially as it will consistantly boot on the second reboot

  • KT6 Delta - Power off right after turning it on

Hi.  I just installed my KT6 Delta and when I turn on the machine, it comes on for a few seconds but then turns back off by itself.  I then have to unplug my power supply for about 5 seconds then plug it back in again before I can turn the machine on again.
On the D-Bracket, right before it turns off, it is at the state where all lights are red except the top right one, indicating something to do with the memory.
I know for a fact every component works perfectly because I am using them all right now on a different motherboard to write this.
Since I need to unplug my power supply before I can turn the computer on again, it seems as though something is shorting out maybe?
Anyone know what this could be?

The heatsink is a Thermalright SK7 and the fan is a Panaflo 80cm.  The PSU is an Enermax 435W.  768 mb PC2100 memory.  The other motherboard I have is an ASUS A7V8X.  Like I said, everything was working perfectly in the ASUS.  I got the KT6 Delta, moved everything over to it, turned it on and it would shut back off right away.  So I moved everything back to the ASUS and it worked fine....for a little while.  All of a sudden my computer rebooted and now it's been doing the same thing as the KT6 ever since.
I'm thinking of going out and buying a cheap Duron to test if it's the cpu.  Is this a good idea do you think?

  • Component F5 on KT6 delta MS 6590 is burned

    Hello all,
I have tried to restart a systrem using an old KT6 Delta and I have found out that component F5 is burned.
I would like to know what exactly is F5 (a fuse ?) and with what can I replace it, as it is now, the board boots but the graphics display are not working, maybe F5 is a fuse controlling the power supply to the video board ?
Thanks for thelp, besides that is there a place to download the schematic from this board ? I don't care about the manual, I'd like the schematics from the board, it would be VERY easy to fix my board with this document.
    Many thanks

    Welcome!
You have to ask MSI-staff for that, I'm afraid. Can't reach their site right now, but here is a link to main site: http://www.msi.com.tw
To be honest, I'd advice against the work you are planning:
1 A socketA mobo is cheap nowadays. It'll amount to less than your work and new parts, etc.
2 One component burnt mostly means there is or has been some abuse, and like bricks in a domino game other components might follow the F5. - Or already has!

  • KT6 Delta All Four Red Lights Help

I just purchased a kt6 delta and I am trying to get it going.  I am upgrading from a KG6-RAID.  I moved everything over, and got ready to try it out, and when  I turned it on I get all 4 red lights.  Then I tried the parts on the old Mobo and things boot up.
I removed everything, so all I have is 1 ram stick, the processor, and a video card.  Here is what I have in there.

Antec pp-303x psu ( http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/p303x_spe.html ) .  Psu has been in use for less then 3 months.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.  Thank you.

I think I am reading this correctly.
    +5v - 7-30a
    +12v - 1-10a
    +3.3v - .5-14a
I have tried it with no memory, and with a Centron (generic) stick.  Both 2100.   Both check out on other motherboards.
I have artic silver between the heatsink and processor.
I'm thinking if anything it could be the power supply, but I don't know.
