KT6 Delta CPU Multiplier

Can someone please confirm what options are available for CPU multipliers.  Is it from 5.5x to 15X, as stated in the review at Amdzone or is it 5.5x to 10x and 14x and 15x (11x,12x,13x missing) as stated in review at Anandtech.
Thanks,

My question was really a yes / no question.  Can someone go into the bios screen and under CPU Multiplier options and tell me is there any option for 11x, 12x, 13x, etc.
From Anandtech review...
The KT6 Delta-FIS2R’s CPU multiplier options range from as low as 6.0X to as high as 15.0X. To be more exact, the CPU multiplier is adjustable in 0.5X increments between 6.0X and 10.0X, with a 14.0X and 15.0X option available. This is an acceptable multiplier range for the most part, but is definitely lacking in terms of the higher value and useful multiplier values between 10.0X and 14.0X. We can’t think of any logical reason why MSI left out multiplier adjustments between 10.0X and 14.0X.

i've heard that the athlon mp is compatible on a single processor socket A/462 board.
If i were to get one would i be able to use it, and would it not have any cpu locks?

from what ive read they dont work that well with your board ,its not very clever at lowering the multiplier

  • KT6-Delta CPU making noise ?!

    Hi,
When I came home today I heard a strange noise. It took me a while to locate it, but it came from the center of my computer, my CPU (a XP2000+). It no fan, tried stooping them all.
I noticed that the sound stopped briefly on doing things on my computer. Starting a full CPU load program stopped the sound completely. After rebooting and disabling the CPU HALT option in my bios, the sound was almost gone. I still hear a pulse but it's a lot softer and shorter. (enabling it again reintroduced the sound)
The sound also has its effect on both sound cards, onboard and my Audigy.
I don't have any (spare) thermal paste so I'm not going to remove the cooler right now. (there's no silver paste on it right now, it's non-conductive).
My PSU is an Antec SmartBlue.
Anyone has the same "problem" or has any idea what’s wrong? (I even have a recording of the sound that I can send

    Kingfisher:
It's no fan problem, I tried stopping the fan, the sound stayed (tried this for every fan in my case)

I think we are talkin about the same thing. Have you tried enabling and disabling the CPU Halt in your bios? It's a great function that lowers your CPU temp a lot when Idle, but ut makes the sound much worse.

with cpu bus set on default 100 and rest on auto it runs @ 1.25 ghz
if i start to increase fsb it locks and i have to reset battery to get it to boot back into bios.
    any ideas
memory set on default spd settings

cpu temp is 51'c sys temp 41'c
    Quote
First of all you shouldn't increase fsb step by step but directly to 166Mhz, otherwise the other components become overclocked because of wrong divisor.
think thats sorted it doing it in stages 135 , 145 , 160 running @ 2ghz atm will go to 166 tomorrow
    set memory to 333
    so far so good  :D

  • MSI KT6 Delta wont boot

My MSI KT6 Delta system no longer boots any further than the memory test? why? any ideas? any solutions other than replacing the motherboard etc.
    some background:
    motherboard: MSI KT6 Delta
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800
    Memory: 1Gb branded
    Graphics: Geforce FX 5200 AGP
    PSU: Antec TrueBlue 480
Screen displays the memory test then a message relating to BIOS setup i.e. "Del: BIOS Setup" plus a new option i dont remember seeing previously namely "F10: Flash recovery" btw pressing 'del' doesn't help you cant get into the BIOS setup.  Having cleared the CMOS via JBAT1 i now just get the MSI Welcome screen.  If it helps the D-Bracket displays a red led top left.
its all a bit odd really, everything was fine on Friday night, but come Saturday morning its all gone pear shaped.
    any help appreciate

OK. Well, the procesor is where I'd start troubleshooting.
Step one would be to unplug power cable and other cables on the back of the computer, wait a while ( you'll hear a faint zzipp  ), and then move JBAT jumper in order to clear CMOS. That will force you into BIOS.
Eh, thought of something. BIOS will stop sometimes if it can't find a keyboard. And you say entering BIOS is impossible. Perhaps you have more than one problem? a) processor's BIOS settings are impossible, b) the keyboard hinders you from entering BIOS. However, the CMOS clearing should in either case be a good start.
Your problem very much reminds of what happened to me and others while playing with CoreCenter. I know you didn't but can't help saying so.

  • Problem: Kt6 Delta, Barton XP3000 (333)

    Dear all,
first, sorry for my possibly bad english.
A few days ago i recieved following Hardware:
    Mainboard: "MSI KT6 Delta"
CPU: "AMD ATHLON 3000 BOXED" (BARTON)
    GRAKA: "MSI FX5600-VTDR128"
    RAM: "1 x 512 MB Corsair XMS3500 (2-2-2-6 T1)"
    HDs: "2 x 120 GB, Barracuda SATA V, Seagate
    SATA150, 7200 rpm, 8 MB Cache"
My Powersupply is this one: Enermax 460 Watt EG-465AX-VE
This should be more than enough
    (http://www.enermax.com.tw/eg365ax-ve-fca.htm)
    What happend:
After each reboot (Reset Button or on/off) System freeze at RAID Bios. D-LEDS "Green-Green-Green-RED" (Atempting to Boot) to get the system up again i have to reset the Bios settings via jumper JBAT1. After that of course i had to reconfigure the Bios again.
So, after a while, i got WinXP installed.
Reboot initialized by the OS worked most of the Time so i had an unstable OS.
CPU temperature at 55 Degrees, Main at 35 Degrees.
After a while when i tried to continue the installation the Mainboard couldnt initialize anymore at all. The Diagnostic LEDs said "RED-RED-RED-RED" (CPU damaged or wrong installed). I waited a few minutes than i tried again - and everything works fine after clearing Bios again of course.
I tried 3 different Powersupplies until i got the Enermax with no differnce behaviour.
    Temperature is LOW. 55/35 Degrees.
Bios Settings: I tried: Save and Custom (FSB166)
The end of the Story is that the current status is:
    RED-RED-RED-RED -> since yesterday.
I dont think i ll get it up again - so which part is the damaged Hardware? Any Hints?
    I hope i wasnt too confusing ,
    yours,
    fne

THNX for the hint. But my current Status is that the Board does not initialise. The Diagnostic LEDs are RED-RED-RED-RED which means an CPU error. I have already changed the CPU. Mounted and cooled as shown in the guide. At the moment i see no other solution as send my Mainboard back. :(
    greetings,
    fne

  • KT6 Delta won't boot - Compatability Issue?

I am upgrading two systems and neither will boot.
    Motherboard: MSI KT6 Delta
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton)
    Ram: DDR 400 (PC3200) Two 512MB
CPU fan runs but D-Bracket 2 has all four red lights.
Should JPW1 connecter be used? I do not see anything to plug into it
    Help!

I found the following in a September post:
    JPW1
When MSI designed the TURBO2 board, they included the jpw1 as a just in case sort of a thing. The original atx plug is what you need to use. The jpw1 can be used too, IF your p/s has the p4 style connecter that plugs into it. If it doesn't, and you are experiencing no problems with stability, do not worry about it. This plug provides the cpu with it's own source of power. All newer power supplys that are p4 ready, come with this plug. I bought a new supply,so I use it ,but there are lots of TURBO2 owners that are not using it, and are not experiencing any problems. Good luck with your rig,BIGDADDY51 CT.USA edit: I reread your post .Plug it in it won't hurt.

  • KT6 Delta and memory problems

Before I begin let me post my specs:
    Mobo: KT6 Delta
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2700+ @ 166 FSB
    RAM: 1 stick Corsair 512MB DDR400
    P/S: 430W
Now that that's out of the way..... I got a stick of Elixir 256MB DDR466 today for Christmas.  Now keep in mind the KT6 Delta is only supposed to support up to DDR400, but it should still work, right?  Well, when I put in the new memory, my mobo only reads the new 256MB stick.  The old 512MB stick works fine by itself, though.  I've tried switching the sticks around and putting them in different slots, but nothing seems to work.  I even tried forcing the SDRAM Frequency to 400MHz under the BIOS... nothing.
Should there be a way to make this configuration work with certain BIOS settings?  Or will I have to return the gift?
    Thanks.

I can understand getting a problem from mixing different memory speeds, but we have 4 computers in our household and we've been mixing sizes and brands for a while now, so your post took me by surprise.  In fact, my youngest brother used to have a 256, a 64, and a 16MB stick, all of different brands, and some of which were overclocked.   From my experience I wouldn't say it "almost always" causes a problem.  I don't doubt your expertise though, you've clearly been here longer than me.  I'm just trying to understand what's going on, and this whole thing has left me a bit confused.
But whatever.  I'll see if the gift can be returned. Thanks.

  • MSI KT6 Delta and xp2600(333) cpu clock

I am new to this so thanks in advance to everyone. This may not be a pure overclocking issue but it seemed like a good active forum.
Just put together a kt6 delta lsr and xp2600(thoroughbred B 333 fsb machine). The 2600 according to AMD(and everything else I have seen) should be clock speed of 166 x 12.5 as the multiplier...so up to 2.088 GHz. The BIOS on this board doesn't separate the 12.5 from the 13(I hope there are others out there that have had this) as it is 12.5/13.
Now when I install and do the BIOS stuff if I pick the 'auto' selection I get BSOD with some cryptic error code. If I manually pick the 12.5/13 multiplier it doesn't work either. I have managed to get 163,164, 165 'auto' or 12.5/13 at times but it is not stable. Sisandra didn't like it at all.
I am currently settling for 166 or 167 x12 as this has been extremely stable and functional(3-4 hour video compressions have worked great). If I go any higher to 168-170 I have had some issues and not totally stable(not as bad as the 12.5/13 mulitplier I used with 163,164 etc).
Now since the 'manual' multiplier is 12.5/13 together does this mean by choosing 'auto' it uses the same one, it seems like it so hence it may be trying to push the 13 at which point the RAM or something may be causing errors. ??? ( just some thoughts as I attempt to reason)
Almost all my components are new except for the harddrives but can't imagine that has anything to do with it all. So basically I have a good cpu but can't utilize it to the fullest and have to 'overclock' just to get to where it should be operating. I can't seem to approach that either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. If there are settings/setup that I forgot please just ask.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
My temperatures seem fine. Low 40's. Even after 4-5 hours of video compression with the 167 x12 that I am using I only hit 43 or so.
I do wonder if anyone else out there as they same set up in terms of the same xp2600-333 chip and this motherboard. That choice of multipliers still seems odd.  I think I may have mentioned it but does the 'auto' use just 'select' from the choice of multiples that we can pick manually? Unless it creates its own multiple that must be the problem. Can it oscillate between the 12.5 and 13 and hence just screw things up?
    Thanks.

    WINDOWS XP SP2
i have cpu with standar amd box fan its run 3200 rpm
    i hope answer
    Thanks

    Hello!
Pull out the main power cable
Clear CMOS by moving the JBAT jumper or removing the battery for a minute or two.
When booting again, enter BIOS by pressing Del button.
Set FSB to 166, and set the correct time. Don't do anything else. Save&Exit.
If the problem remains, you have to remove the HSF/cooler and the processor. Clean both with pure alcohol and nail polish remover (garnish?), so no old grease is still there. Add new thermal grease, by putting a small drop on the very chip, of the processor. Before putting them back, look carefully on the thing in which the processor is placed, so you don't put the HSF/cooler on back-wards.
Good luck! Please come back if you wonder about above, or if problem remains.

  • MSI KT6 Delta LSR SATA to PATA High CPU Usage Problem

Well recently I've switch to my one of my other motherboards on my network to a MSI KT6 Delta LSR, it was working fine after a reformat, but I notice a few problems and that is 100% cpu usage for SATA to PATA, and vice versa, which seems really crazy. Then my network card performance is ISDN speed sluggish, and I tested my line to be working 100% with another mobo. But when I put another NIC on the same mobo it suffers the same speed problems.
Any suggestions? The rig is specs:
    Barton 2500+
    Antec QuietPower 350W
    200GB Seagate SATA HDD
    40GB Seagate PATA HDD
    ATI Radeon 7500 AIW
    Audigy 2 Value
    Realtek 8139 NIC
    MSI KT6 Delta LSR Mobo
    2x512 MB PC 2700 RAM
    Pioneer 107D DVD Writer
    LG 16X DVD-ROM
    56K Modem (A-open)

Shouldn't say what I don't know about SATA, but since I found below, I need ask if VIA 4in1 drivers are installed, preferably while in SafeMode I say:
    http://www.google.se/search?q=cache:X6ewgPiIHYcJ:www.qdi.nl/cgi-bin/bbs/YaBB.pl%3Fboard%3DP4I865%3Baction%3Ddisplay%3Bnum%3D1074174096+sata+to+pata+cpu+usage&hl=sv
I recently installed 160g Seagate barracuda 7200.7 drive on SATA port. (I enabled the Bios using Auto) I have a P4I865pea-6al mother board, with two PATA drives . When copying files between the PATA drives on ide ports, to or from, the SATA drive, I notice the CPU usage goes up to 100%, but when copying files from one ide drive (the PATA drives) to another the CPU usage is very low.
Is there a bios setting that will allow me to copy files from the SATA drive to the Pata drives using a small amount of CPU power, found when just copying between the Primary and Secondary IDE drives? I am using Adobe premiere pro, which uses a lot of CPU power, and the high CPU usage of the SATA drive crashes this program? Any help would be appreciated

  • KT6 Delta MS-6590 problem

    Hello
I can't set the FSB speed to 166 on my AMD Barton 2500 as it should be after updating BIOS and mainboard drivers. It started like this:
Yesterday I decided to add 512MB RAM to the 1GB RAM I already had. I soon discovered, that I had to update my BIOS in order to make it work (I got the "Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: ...ntoskrnl.exe" error during boot).
I updated the BIOS and now I could use 1,5GB RAM - cool....except the CPU FSB Clock speed was now down to 100Mhz. The multiplier (CPU Ratio) was 11, I discovered that by using an analysing program when using Windows. So basically I was running 1,1GHz instead of 1,8GHz as I did before.
I tried to adjust the CPU FSB Clock and the multiplier, but then I couldn't boot right.
Then I started to install the latest mainboard drivers, just to see if that helped, it didn't.
I need help to resolve this. There has to be a nasty bug in the latest BIOS driver and/or mainboard drivers. I need to run 1,8Ghz, but I cant.
    My pc:
    AMD Barton 2500 CPU
    MSI KT6 Delta MS-6590 mainboard
    3 times Kingston PC3200/400 DDR 512MB RAM
    Sapphire Radeon 9600 graphics card
    Regards
    JCN

I still can't change CPU FSB Clock speed to 166Mhz, but can to 110Mhz though, didn't try to set CPU Ratio again, last time I had to set the jumper on the mainboard to make it work.
What I have done now is to manually tell BIOS what RAM I have, I set it to 400Mhz with latency 3, when it boots it shows 266Mhz though. My RAM modules are Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512.
My PSU is 350W (wasn't sure about the amps, so I didn't write those), and is in a AOpen H600 housing (ATX): http://www.aopen.nl/products/housing/H600series.htm
I haven't tried memtest86 yet, seems a bit too much trouble to need to burn a ISO cd to make the test. I have testet my RAM using CheckIt Diagnostics after I manually set the data, I can pass the test now, so RAM seems to be ok. Must be that darn BIOS software that messes things up.

  • KT6-DELTA sees Athlon 1.6mhz as 1.2mhz

I recently purchased an MSI KT6 DELTA to replace my old motherboard (I needed to support a 250gig HD)  With it I purchased 512 mb of DDR 400 pc3200 RAM to get it going.  All other components (processor, Heatsink, Fan) were from the old system and are compatible.  I have listed specs at the bottom of this post.
The main problem is that when I check the system settings it recognises the processor as a 1.2ghz Athlon when it is actually an Athlon 1900+ 133mhz, 12.0x, 1.6ghz processsor.
After checking the BIOS setting, and checking out the readings on the corecenter application I found that the processor is running at 100mhz (not 133mhz as is needed).
**I have also noticed that when using explorer to navigate my way round files it exits the program randomly, on random files.  The manual shows on the MEMORY SPEED/CPU CLOCK SPEED MATRIX diagram, DDR 400 memory is NOT compatible with a 100mhz CPU clock??**
I believe that when I get the processor up to speed and recognised as a 1.6ghz, everything will be fine and speed, memory issues will sort everything out.
I guess the main question is this "How do I get the system to recognise the 1.6ghz CPU?"
    Steps taken so far:
-The following BIOS settings have been applied
    --ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES>DRAM TIMING
SYSTEM PERFORMANCE is set to FAST.
CURRENT HOST CLOCK is set to 100mhz (will not allow any changes)
SDRAM FREQUENCY is set to AUTO (I could set it to 400mhz)
    --FREQUENCY VOLTAGE CONTROL
CPU FSB CLOCK is set to 100mhz (Should be 133mhs).  You cannot change this setting.
CPU RATIO is set to AUTO (should be x15)
I have cleared the CMOS once with no changes.  It just boots up saying I am running a 1.2ghz Athlon Processor.
I have heard a rumour of a JP10 jumper that keeps MSI mothernboards in safe mode, not allowing the processor to go over 100mhz
Any help would be great (especially WONKA, as they helped me chose the board and knows what they're talking about)
    Thanks
    **SPECS**
Microsoft XP home OS - Service pack 2
    512MB 400MHZ PC3200
    AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 133MHZ, 12.0x, 1.6GHZ
Appropriate heatsink and fan (that came ith the processor)
MSI KT6-DELTA MOTHERBOARD FOR ATHLON PROCESSORS

    SEAGATE 40 GIG SYSTEM HD
    HITACHI 250 GIG FILE HD
IDE CABLE 133MB/S BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY ATA33/66/100/133

The board can't autodetect the front side bus it can only do that with the multiplier(cpu ratio) the current host clock you see in the DRAM Configuration is what it's set at not what it's being auto-detected as. No board can auto-detect the front side bus as far as I'm aware.
Your system specs list the bios version incorrectly that what the AMI code version is 3.31 the bios version number should be 5.0-5.7 .
There aren't any cpu or memory config jumpers on this board so we can put that to rest no rumour that's for Nforce2 boards. We can also put to rest another the KT6 Delta supports the 1900+ both versions(Palamino&Tbred) a FSB of 133Mhz and the multiplier at auto.
One thing that has seemed to slip by on this thread is the power supply give us the dirt on it give us the amps on the +12v +3.3v and the +5v plus the total combined wattage and also the brand name and model name. Make sure that the square 4pin connector is plugged into the socket on the board.
Last thing to do is reseat the processor take of the heatsink+fan unit if the cpu came in a retail blister packaging the HSF will have a thermal pad so no real reason the clean any paste off. Take the cpu off clean any debris if any found then carefully make the cpu is making good contact it's fully seated and all of that jazz.

  • KT6 Delta FISR & AMD 2500+

I have new MB KT6 Delta FISR and CPU Athlon 2500+ (1833 MHz) and I have problem.
The combination is working nice. But in BIOS I can see FSB=100 only.
And CPU is by Sandra identified as Athlon 1800+ Barton/Thorton on 1100 MHz.
THe BIOS high power is FSB=133 and notice get damage warning.
Then Sandra shows CPU 1900+ on 1435 MHz. I left it 133 and CPU temperature is about 62 deg.C.
Because I didn't check the CPU identification I am afraid to increase FSB to 166MHz.
The RAM Kingston 333 MHz is working on 200 MHz by SAndra.
The second question is the temperature of MB. Sandra warns that 52 deg.C is too high. The VIA chip has no cooler even if on the picture in MSI pages there is one. But it is the picture of the FISR2 I think.
    Thank you for your advice.
    Joe.

I would recommend using CPUZ to identify the processor. Sandra (and most programs) will recognize the processor as 1800+ because it is operating at 1100 mhz (100FSB). When you increase the FSB to 166 you will see that your processor will be identified as a 2500+. IMPORTANT: When you increase the FSB to 166, leave the multiplier at AUTO.
Another thing...I don't know if the processor operates at 85ºC but my 2500+ Barton operates when idle at 46ºC. You mentioned that when you increased the FSB to 133 you got a temperature of 62ºC. I think that is a little on the high side. Is your heatsink installed properly? Do you have good airflow inside the case?
