KT6-Delta Lan problems

I'm having problems with my onboard LAN on my KT6... seems like after a few hours I can't receive anything on it... Trying a ip /renew... fails... I just reboot and it's good again.
I got Winxp pro SP2 on it everything patch and with latest drivers. I'm also behind a hub wich is plug into a router.
Anyone have suggestions ?

Hello,
I am confused,
Do you have a KT6V or a KT6-Delta?
If you have a KT6 delta then try some new drivers from Broadcom

  • KT6 Delta Network Problems

Last saturday I bought 2 new MSI KT6 Delta mainboards. 1 with a AlthonXP 2500+ cpu, the other with a 2200+.
    Both machines work fine.
Now I just set up some shared directories to copy files from computer 1 to computer 2. But when I start to copy files. The (onboard)LANport in computer 1 just freezes up for some reason. The only way to get a connection back on it is to turn off the LANport and turn it back on again.
Drivers and stuff have all been installed correctly, so that can't be the problem. Also internet itself works fine on both machines.
What can I do to get the LANports working properly ?
    t.i.a.

    Situation:
    - 1 brand new computer, 2 weeks old with 2 network cards installed, one for the internet, one for the intranet.
    - 1 old computer connected to new computer.
The 2 problems I have with the new computer are:
    - Computer freezes for less then a second every few seconds.
    - Computer hangs completely, every 5 to 60 minutes.
This *ONLY* happens when both network cards are enabled in Windows XP.
    Specs are as followed:
    - MSI KT6 Delta-LSR
    - Onboard Broadcom 4401
    - Onboard 6 channels software audio codec C-Media 9739A
    - 3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI (3C905B-TX)
    - NVIDIA FX5200
    - 512MB DDR400
    What I have done:
    - Moved the 3Com 10/100 to all possible PCI slots, without re-installing anything.
    The problem remained.
    - Moved the 3Com 10/100 to PCI slot 3, re-installed Windows XP.
    The problem remained.
    - Disabled the onboard NIC, installed a 3Com EtherLink 10 XL PCI (3C900B-TPO) in some PCI slot.
    The problem remained.
    - Moved both NIC's around and around and around.
    The problem remained.
    - Re-installed Windows XP, onboard LAN disabled, 2 3Com NICS.
    Problem solved...
Yes, at this moment everything was working perfectly. Both computers had fast internet, no more freezes, everything was working perfectly.
Stupid me though, I went into the BIOS, and choose the High Performance option. Windows XP booted, I noticed that I had no sound anymore. It turned out that the High Performance option disabled the onboard Audio, so I enabled it again, and then the problems came back again.
Perhaps with re-installing Windows XP the problem will go away again, but I am starting to get really curious to what exactly is my problem.
I tried everything to find out what is wrong. I disabled USB support in the BIOS, disabled the onboard Audio, disabled everything else that was sharing an IRQ with the NIC's... The problem remained.
I found on the net a way to delete the uninstalled devices in Windows XP (when you move a NIC to another PCI slot, XP remembers the old NIC as well). So I did.. Everything looks clean, but the problem remains.
Memory, nope, that is not the cause either, did a memory test, everything was ok.
Drivers? I downloaded the latest versions, also tried the old versions though. Tried with and without the VIA chipset drivers, no change.
What oh what can be the problem?
When I use 'msinfo32.exe', I do not see any conflicts with one of the NIC's.
At this moment, the 3Com is at IRQ 10 and the Broadcam at IRQ 12.
Oh yeah, I also re-installed Windows XP *without* ACPI support. In the hope I could manualy assign the resources to the NIC's. But that did not work. The settings are still grayed-out. I could however change some PCI settings in the BIOS. But all in all, the problem remains.
I just wonder what could this be? Motherboard? Operating System? Drivers? Other Hardware?
I can not think of any other thing anymore, besides installing Windows 2000 and see if the problem will disappear.
Maybe there are some guys out there who recognize something here...
    Let me know please, thanks.
    Ronny.

  • PLEASE help me fix KT6 Delta video problem!!!!!

So I did a build for a family member utilizing the KT6 Delta.  The video card is an Nvidia GeforceFX 5700LE.  The problem is that periodically the monitor will just go black for like a second or two, then come back on.  This is really making the person mad and I don't want to take the flack.
Today I am going to do a full reformat and give him the latest bios in hopes or correcting this issue.  Does anybody know how to fix it for sure??
I figure it relates to the video somehow and maybe AGP voltages, Master R/W states, and things like that may fix it.
    Can anybody help me PLEASE?????

Well the same occurence happened with a Nvidia TNT2 video card as well.  This monitor and that card worked fine in their old system.  Actually everything was the same from the old system except for the motherboard and memory which is new for the system that I just built them.
So I guess that brings it down to the motherboard and RAM.  The memory is running at SPD timings and acts fine.  As for bios changes I just did the normal.  Nothing is too agrresive and I just disabled ports and devices that aren't in use.  Any ideas?

  • KT6 Delta MOBO Problem

Just what you need on New Years Eve!
I just purchased the following hardware to upgrade my current system.
    KT6 Delta MS-6590 (v2.X) TX Mainboard Version 2.0 G52-M6590XD Mobo
AMD Athelon XP 2600 with L2 Cache of 512 KB Quantispeed
PNY Technologies 256MB DIMM DDR 333 Mhz-184pins Memory OEM
    NVIDIA Sparkle GeForce4 MX 440-8X AGP8X 3D Graphic Accelerator
    Microsoft Internet Keyboard
    Current system is as follows.
    American Megatrends Inc. Mobo
    Intel Pentium III 550MHz
    128MB Ram Installed
    S3 Inc. Savage4 (Engineering Bit Flip) 1024 x 768 32-bit Video Resolution
    19GB Hard Disk
    Mitsumi CD-ROM FX4824TIB Max Read Speed 8467KB/s (48X)
    Windows 98 operating systems
Now your probably saying “Yeah so what…!”, well here is where the fun starts.
I went out to get some more memory and asked a member of staff at the store if the new memory would improve gaming on my PC. He explained that this would not resolve the problem and a new processor was the best option. Unfortunately due to the age of my motherboard he advised me to buy a new one along with a new graphics card and memory to boot along with the new Athelon.
I removed all old hardware, installed the new as per the manual and………nothing. Fan on the processor is working, as is the one in the box but apart from a LED light on the front nothing works. The D-Bracket 2 Connector:JLED1 has all four lights on which indicates that the processor is damaged or not installed properly. Re-installed but no joy still getting the same four lights. Is it really that simple…is my processor damaged or not installed properly? Find it hard to believe that anybody could install it wrong, as there is only one way to install it.
I also have two sets of Serial ATA Cables left over. One Black at both ends with Orange Cable and the other I presume is a power Cable (4 pins) connected via two black plugs using two black, a red and yellow wire. Also the audio lead for the CD ROM cannot be connected to the MOBO but I am told this is not a problem.
Now it’s at this point you hopefully will start asking me about jumpers. Could this be the problem? Or maybe my operating system does not support this motherboard. I tried to install the software that MSI supplied but it told me I needed windows SE etc.
As you can probable tell this is my first upgrade and maybe the Athelon is buggered and I will be knocking on the stores doors Friday morning, PC in hand asking them to have a look. But I don’t want to do that…I want to solve this on my own with a little help from you.
Just to prove I’m not a total fool I have reinstalled all the old hardware so I can obtain some help over the New Year using the old set up.
    Look forward to your advice
    RJL :^(

New system is up and running thanks to the new PSU and all your help. Noticed a few other people have had similar problems with the PSU. It shuts down now so quick that I don't have time to get my butt out of the seat.
The D-Bracket is still showing all 4 green, lights indicating that the operating system is booting. I presume this is ok?
I'm certain that I have connected everthing up from the power ok but there is a three-pin head connector which I was not sure where it should go. It would either go in the NBFAN1 or the SFAN1 if any...any ideas?
In device manager I have a few unknown devices where the driver has not installed (code 28).
    PCI ETHERNET CONTROLLER
    PCI MULTIMEDIA AUDIO DEVICE
    PCI RAID CONTROLLER
    PCI UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS
Can you give me any pointers?
    NVIDIA WDM VIDEO CAPTURE (UNIVERSAL)
This is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all drivers installed (code 10)
It says try upgrading drivers for this device so I will see if I can download some.
I would image the above is why I am getting no sound when I play a CD?
Also the Drivers & Utilities CD which came with the KT6 Delta will not load as it is asking for OS Windows 98SE and above. Do I need anything on this Disk or is it a load of rubbish which will fill up my C-Drive and never get used.
Also getting the annoying network passwork request when I boot up...how do you get rid of that again?
    Look forward to you replies
    RJL :~)

  • My second KT6 Delta FIS2R, problems again..

I had FIS2R with couple of problems: I didn't start after pressing power on -button. All diagnostic leds were red (processor damaged). After pressing reset computer booted up nicely. This problem was from beginning, later (after half year(?) usage) came stability-problems. System became very unstable. Even when all memory and cpu-speeds were as low as possible, there were problems: Windows hanging, prime gave error etc.
So I got RMA-code and returned it. Board I got back was same model, same revision. It just worked fine, no problems at all. But now there is also that "won't start" -problem sometimes (with diagnostic leds turned red). I tried to run prime95 torture test after first time computer didn't start without preset and it was running errorfree. Now after about month later, prime95 ran only 1h 52min.
    Anybody else having same problems?
Is there many revisions of that board, perhaps newer?
    System:
    KT6 Delta FIS2R
    XP 2500+
    512Mb M-TEC 400MHz
    Club 3D Radeon 8500
    360W PSU
    Samsung SATA-Drive

I don't think there is a problem with hard disks, same problem was with Seagate only and with Samsung only. Now with this new board, these hangings on startup happens so randomly, that I'm willing to believe that my PSU can't give enough power.
Those stability issues were probably caused overheated NorthBridge. It was too hot to touch. I changed bigger fan to CPU -heatsink and now it also blows to NB and it's much cooler. Prime95 has been running 12 hours no with no errors. Gotta see and hope it runs errorfree for next 12 hours too.
Maybe I was just scared because last FIS2R became so unstable that even if I put all setting as (s)low as possible, it wouldn't work.
Windows is just fine, I made fresh install couple of week ago and I don't have net at home so it should be quite clean..
Thank's to all of you, at least I know now to try replace PSU if there is problems..

  • MSI KT6 DELTA FIS2R problems

Well, I finally received my new KT6 DELTA FIS2R motherboard (I replaced my K7N2 Delta ILSR).  After getting the wrong model and one with missing parts...  I think I received a defective one!  I tried to format and make a new installation of Win Xp.  While it tried to make its first boot, the thing crashed and it would not reboot.  I tried resetting the BIOS and then i got the message: CMOS corrupted or damaged. (The diagnostic led indicated the same thing).  I experienced another problem,  while I was using my computer, the CPU was running at 60C, in windows! (before reinstalling). Does anybody has the same problems with their KT6 boards...  Does it need to be returned?
    Thanks for the help,
    Valkyr

From your post its not totally clear where you are at. Does the system still POST?
First of all, it is normal to get some kind of error message the first time after clearing cmos. Entering bios or hitting the key for "load defaults" will make that go away.  If you do that and errors still happen in bios then you have more serious problems.
As far as the temp goes, redo the cpu installation making sure you totally remove all the old thermal pad/compound and use proper amount of new stuff.

Again i did the same but now AGAIN it didnt find the HD's on IDE1 ...but it DID find the HD's on IDE2 .....
So now im stuck with only 1 HD and a dvd burner
What could be the problem ?
I tried everything....from " master/slave "  and only 1 HD or only 2 HD's etc but then it either cant find the disks or it wont startup at all ....

  • MSI KT6-Delta FIS2R problem!?

I managed to install al but one aspect of the mobo. The integrated gigabit lan (Broadcom 5788) doesn't seem to be recognized. It looks like the PC just can't find the card, I don't get any 'found new hardware' messages and I can't find the card anywhere in my device manager.
Even when I try to ad a network adaptor manually (through new hardware) I can't seem to find it. (only lets me install a standard microsoft adaptor)
At first I had problems with the USB 2.0 but after service pack for Win Xp professional and a patch the USB 2.0 was installed properly but the drivers don't seem to be the problem in case of the gigabit lan. I have the drivers, I just don't have a way to install them.
Is there another patch I might need for the gigabit lan? Is it something in the bios I didn't see? (don't remember seeing anything in the bios referring to the integrated lan).
Hope you guys can help me.
    Greetz

I was wondering if MegaJos was able to fix the problem as I ran to this myself yesterday. The ethernet controller simply doesn't get recognised properly and I'm unable to install the driver. After several failed attempts I did some investigating with a diagnostic utility available the Broadcom web site and it turned out that the controller EEPROM data was/is corrupt. Now I could try rebuilding the data and flashing it, but since this is a brand new board I think I'll just take it back to the shop for a replacement.

  • KT6-Delta FIS2R problems

i just finished building this computer in late january and i've reformatted 5 times due to corrupt OS (with the crashing and constant reboots). the onboard lan dies and requires me to reboot. i get random reboots if i leave the computer on for more than 4 hours. i disabled all but 2 USB ports, disabled both serial ports and printer ports, and also disabled the IEEE1394. i also disabled APCI. everything else (incl. ram & cpu) are an auto. i've also tried using the "high performance" setting and cannot get higher than 205FSB. is there something i missed? can you offer me any tips? any help is appreciated.

You are definately entitled to a refund or replacement if the stick is defective, which it appears to be. I do not know how difficult it is to deal with newegg.com on these matters, but I wish the best of luck in obtaining speedy service. They want you to send both sticks back for replacement, or just the one you suspect. Let's just hope they don't keep you without your rig for long.

My hardwares are: AMD XP2600 333mhz, DDR 512MB PC2700,Geforce4 128MB ti4400 (msi), CDRW TDK VeloCD 24x10x40, HD SEGATE 120 GB SATA.
When i installed Windows XP it couldnt start great (error with Video) for that reason i installed the Geforce drivers via Safe Mode. then i reset and work great only for 15 MIN (it shows blue screem error with some problem with video card) and for that reason i installed windows 98 and works great (we hate win98) lol. Pls help me

Try with another video card, if the problem is solutioned, review your video card. In The BIOS activate the Fast Write for AGP. I have a Geforce 4 MX 440 8x 64 MB and works very very fine.

  • KT6 Delta - Random freezes and LAN Issues

Just built a new PC, installed Win XP, installed all the drivers etc.
I get random freezes - as in the machine will just stop responding totally.  I could run for an hour before a freeze, other times its frozen before I've even logged in.
Also the LAN keeps dropping out too.  The timing of this is also random, just to make things interesting.  I could be downloading a 20MB file, get only 2MB into it, then it just sits there.  The only way to get the LAN back up and running is to reboot.  Once I've rebooted, its a case of just waiting for it to fail again
    The specs are as follows:
    KT6 Delta-FIS2R (Gigabit LAN etc.)
    AMD 2800XP+
    1GB Crucial (2 x 512)
    ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
    80 Maxtor HD
    400W PSU
I've got the FSB set to 166 and also set the memory up correctly (333 and 2.5 cl) but to no avail.
I was running with a Soundblaster Audigy card, but took that out and still got the same.  I even tried taking out one of the memory modules.
I don't think its a temperature issue as the CPU is currently running at about 47 Degrees and I've got the side off-of the case.
Please - anyone got any ideas???

I have a KT6 Delta LSR and am having probs with the onboard Broadcom 4401 as well.
After Initial boot of machine I have 2-5 minutes to surf the net or whatever. At that time I lose connection. Also if I linger on one page long enough to read, I lose connection. Or shutdown a net connected program, it loses connection.
When I play Tribes - the connection stays till I leave the server - then I have to reboot.
This is driving me nuts. I have disabled the Lan in bios and installed a Netgear 10/100. XP recognizes it but cannot get rid of "Cable not plugged in" message. So I reinstalled the 4401.
I have RR and am behind a Phoebe 4 port router. None of the other computers have a problem with the router, and I have tried changing plug in ports around among the computers.
I have the same version of driver for it as the latest at MSI. Flashed the latest bios lately as well, in desperation.
Any ideas? I sure would appreciate it.

  • KT6-Delta bios 5.7 problem

hi I've recently installed an update on the bios on my motherboard (update 5.7 for kt6-delta)
and ever since i installed it my internet won't connect, it detects the drivers but the internet can't send the pass username to mts.
is this a known bug? or was there just an error installing the update and should rewrite the bios possibly with an earlier update or is there some other problem i might not have considered because every time i install bios updates it resets my preferences in the bios

    Hello,
Are you saying that the LAN appears to be working but no Data flows in or out?
    All network activity is dead?
I have had this problem too on my KT6 delta.
When you flash the BIOS it changes the memory and CPU settings.
Also after a BIOS flash you should clear the CMOS using the Jbat jumper.
(turn PC off to do this)
If you enter the BIOS and disable the LAN,
DO your CPU and memory settings,
    save and exit.
Go into windows, delete the lan from device manager
restart PC, it should be gone.
Then restart again, enter the BIOS enable the LAN, save and exit.
windows so detect it again, does it now work?

  • KT6 Delta stability and performance problems

    Hi all!
My brother and I recently assembled my new computer. Since then I’ve been experiencing two problems that really bug me. I’m no expert at this stuff so if you guys need more info from me to try to help, just say so!
    Problem 1:
The optimum setting for my processor is a CPU FSB Clock of 166 Mhz, but I’m only able to reach 160 Mhz. 161-163 will work but is extremely unstable. 164-166 will cause Windows to dump to a blue screen and reboot.
I’ve seen that other people on this board have had similar problems. Note that I’ve set CPU Ratio to Auto and SDRAM Timing to SPD. What could be causing the problem? Could a simple BIOS update help (I’m running the one that was delivered with the motherboard)? How about clearing CMOS?
    Problem 2:
Maybe due to the above problem, I’m also having stability problems when I do get into Windows. On some days it’s fine, other days it’s a mess.
All of a sudden, while surfing the net or gaming, the computer will dump to a blue screen with the info that Windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to the system. One of two error messages will be displayed:
“A thread tried to release a resource it did not own” (more common message) or “IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” (less common).
The computer will then reboot automatically. It’s really hard to specify when this happens: it could come at any time.
The system I have is the following:
    KT6 Delta (MS-6590) motherboard
    AMD Athlon XP2500+ (1.833 Ghz)
    TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM (2x256Mb)
    Seagate Barracuda 80Gb S-ATA
My old IDE 12 Gb harddrive
    PowerColor Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb
    TDK CD-RW (40x/10x/40x)
    Windows XP Professional with Sp1
Have any of you had similar problems? I appreciate any help I can get!!!
    Regards,
    Stefan

judd321: couldn't agree more! Thanx to all the people who post here and try to help out computer illiterate people like myself. Interesting to see that you've had the same problem.
Thought I'd give you an update on my situation. I've done some surfing and gotten some mixed messages. Some say that the included PSU that came with my Chenbro Gaming Bomb (FSP Group 350W, delivers 28A at +3,3V, 30A at +5v and 16A at 12V) is plenty to power a system with my specs. Others, like the good people on this board, claim that 350W just won't cut it.
I've just invested in an Aspire 520W (looks creepy and mod-ish). The dealer claimed that it really does deliver 520W at maximum performance and not just at peak. Before I install it I will try the following just to make sure it's the PSU that's causing me problems:
    1) Confirm that I still cannot boot up with CPU Clock at 166Mhz. If all is still the same, Windows won't even start. If I, by the grace of the good Lord, do get my system running at 166, I'll monitor unwanted reboots. If system is stable, fine. If no:
    2) I'll start by clearing CMOS, with battery and power cord out for at least 10 minutes. Then enter BIOS and run default settings EXCEPT CPU Clock which I'll set to 166Mhz. I'll try to reboot computer to see if this has done the trick. If yes, great. If no, I'll try the same thing but also set memory speed to 333. If that still doesn't work:
    3) Clear CMOS with power cord disconnected. Unplug unneccesary components like CD-ROM, fan (not heatsink  , floppy drive, any USB devices and my old IDE hard drive. Reboot the computer and set CPU Clock at 166. If the system works, it was definitely the PSU since the absence of the disconnected components will have allocated more power to the connected components. If it doesn't work...does anybody want to buy a pretty decent system that doesn't allow for full processor power and experiences frequent, unwanted reboots?
I'll let you know how things work out!
