MSI has posted bios version 5.7 for the KT6 Delta series.
Update description:-
-Support Sempron 3000+ CPU

Hello,
The MSI Mercenary: BIOS updates add support for the new processors.
As with most bios updates, the new one includes all the old updates too.
The BIOS supports all of these CPU's + the semprons mentioned in the update.

  • Cannot install LAN driver for my "KT6 Delta Series" motherboard

I've got this motherboard (KT6 Delta Series). Bought it second hand recently and I haven't got the original MSI driver CD. I downloaded all the drivers from the MSI website (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=474&kind=1) but I'm not able to install the driver for my onboard LAN.
I just get a yellow dot on the ethernet controller under unknown devices in my device manager. When I try to update driver from device manager by searching the folder where I unzipped the driver, I just get a message saying something like "no driver could be found for this device in the selected folder... will you connect to Windows Update to search for a driver...?". I've also tried to install it the hard way by selecting "from floppy disc" and browse for the "b44win.inf" file inside the "WinXP" folder in the unzipped driver folder... but I stilll get an error message... saying something like "can't find any information of the hardware in the selected folder"... it's a bit difficult for me to describe the messages correctley because not English Windows version.
I've downloaded both LAN drivers for this card from MSI download site (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=474&kind=1). Both "Broadcom 5788 LAN Drivers" and "Broadcom 4401 LAN Drivers" and non of them will install on my system. I've also tried downloading from the Broadcom website (http://www.broadcom.com/drivers/downloaddrivers.php). NON of them will install (
I've just formated my harddrive with fresh Windows XP install... The only software already installed is drivers for my motherboard and AGP card. No other software that can make any conflicts. When I connect a network cable to the onboard LAN the yellow light goes on so it seems the card itself is working.... but where can I get a driver that will install???
I've also tried connecting another network card (realtek 10/100) and connected my ADSL internett through it... and used the MSI Live Update utility... but still no luck... the only network driver it gets is the one for my reltek card :-(
    Any suggestions???
I use Windows XP Professional SP2. How do I install the drivers for my onboard LAN???
    Best regard.

"...so my onboard Broadcom 4401/5788 controller thinks it is a 3COM controller instead of a broadcom controller..." Think it shouldn't be possible since basic data should be written in a kind of ROM.  Now, if that could happen, it should be possible to reverse it the same way you did to overwrite that data.
I belive you are right... but I can't reverse it the same way I did when overwrite the data... because I'm not able to install the driver :( I cannot install the driver at all in Windows XP. In Windows ME it's possible to force the installation of the driver... but it does not work. It moves from unknown devices to network controllers... but it gets a yellow dot... and is not working. Every time I boot Windows ME I get a message reporting that something is wrong with the broadcom ethernet controller :(
I belive the only way I can reverse it is to replace my harddrive with another... with Windows XP and drivers for my card is already installed on the harddrive... the same way as I did when overwriting the rom file(s) with data from my Asus board... but I can't make such a harddrive when the drivers won't install on my card :(
I maybe think this also has happend to the onboard Audio controller... and maybe the chipsett also :( The audio controller works perfectley eith the MSI C-Media drivers... but when I run MSI live update... I get drivers for the C-Media device... but also drivers for "VIA AC97" audio controller can be downloaded from the MSI Live Update Utility... The "VIA AC97" is the audio controller on my Asus board... so I belive it has happened here also... and maybe also to the "VIA 4in1" chipset... but this is the same "VIA KT600" chipset as on my Asus board. When updating my Via 4in1 driver, I just get an option to update the inf file. But normaly on "Via 4in1" drivers on other boards I know, there shold be installed drivers for PCI, IDE and AGP. Is it the same way for you guys with this motherboard? Is it only the "Inf file" to update for you guys also?
What I think is most frustrating here is that things like this cab happen. This can happen to everybody. Many times I've switched harddrive from one computer to another... and I've never experienced anything like this before. This time I was not planing to boot the harddrive at all... just format it... but forgot to set the right boot order... so the harddrive booten... and that's all it takes to "destroy" my board. Shouldn't these ROM files be a littlebit more difficult to overwrite, you think? Why doesn't MSI writeprotect their ROM files or anything... to make them a littlebit more difficult to destroy...?
Well... I'm still interested in advices on how to "restore" my motherboard data to the original values... and remember... clear CMOS and update BIOS is not enough :(

  • Kt6-Delta Seris Probelm

hi ive been trying to fix my mothers reasonably new pc shes got its about 6 months old its a kt6 delta seris ms 6590 motherboard with a amd 2400+ athlon xp with corsair 512 400mhz ram stick and for some reason it wont run the cpu at 2400+ it will only run it as an 1800+ if i put it in my computer it runs full speed can someone help me out here
    ^thanks Bounty

    To get a 2200XP you need at 133MHz a multiplier of 13,5.
    13,5 x 133 = 1800
But if it is a Thoroughbred 2400 kind of Athlon you need 15:
    http://forum.piara.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=291
Do you know how to clear CMOS?
Else the most common reasons for this kind of problem is
    - poor seating of the processor
    - a divider that kicks in = mismatch memory / CPU
    - too weak a Power Supply Unit
    - wrong delivery
I'm guessing here, but your Mum got a whole package assembled and ready, right?
The two last points are then interesting.   Think you should give the store a call.
If you or she built it herself, and if clearing CMOS and reentering speed etc doesn't do it, you have to come back with info. on your Power Supply Unit (PSU) and temps.
If you are comfortable using BIOS settings, you could increase voltage for the processor and downclock RAM speed. But really, you shouldn't have to. Do this as sort of a last resort.

  • KT6 Delta Series mobo - setup

I've got a new KT6 Delta Series motherboard which has the VIA Apollo KT600 chipset. I've also ordered an AMD2800+ processor with 1Gb RAM.
A few questions, if anyone can help me please:
    1) I've got a new PSU which has a Fan Monitor connector on it - where does this plug onto the mobo? Is is the NBFAN1 or SFAN1 socket?
    2) When I look at FSB settings in Core Centre, it is set to 100 MHz at the moment. I thought my processor was 333MHz (am I comparing the wrong figures here?). I've clicked Auto and as soon as it got to about 121MHz, the system re-booted - surely I should be able to get above this figure to make my processor faster?
    3) I'm currently running at 63 degree C even at 100Mhz - is this normal?
    Many thanks,
    Si.

    1. Plug it into SFAN1. The other is for the processor fan.
    3. That's a little hot, but if you are using the stock heatsink and overclocking then that is actually pretty normal. AMD coolers aren't exactly well rounded for the chips they use them with. Check into a new Thermaltake cooler or Thermalright if you want to spend a little bit more. As always, Arctic Silver thermal compounds will help decrease heat.

  • KT6 Delta FIS2R BIOS stopped detecting IDE1 & 2 optical drives

I am working on a new system that has developed an unusual (to me) problem. The system is partially built and consists to date of the following:
    1. Chieftec MA-01BND case with Super-Flower TTGI TT-520SS (520 Watt) power supply.
    2. MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R motherboard with an AMD XP2600 CPU and one stick of Corsair CMX512-2700C2 RAM.
    3. Two Mitsumi MTM-1.44BL floppy drives.
    4. Two Maxtor 6Y080MO HDD’s connected to SATA 1 and SATA 2, not in RAID.
    5. Sony DDU1621BK DVD/CD ROM mastered on IDE1.
    6. Sony DWU10A-B2 DVD/CD RW 1 mastered on IDE2.
    7. Asus V9520 VS AGP video card.
    8. Windows 98SE installed on HDD1.
Everything was operating properly, and I was installing software and drivers for peripherals, when the following problem appeared.
At boot-up, the MB logo pops right up; but then, it takes approximately 80 seconds for the BIOS to initiate. Boot-up then proceeds as normally, and Windows 98SE initiates normally. However, neither optical drive appears in Program Manager; and, pushing the “open” button on either drive fails to open the tray.
After the BIOS initiates, the usual message directing one to press the “DEL” key for access to BIOS Setup never appears. However, if the “DEL” key is held down anyway, the system will enter Setup. Note that there is also a delay of approximately 80 seconds for this to initiate.
Once into Setup, the “Standard CMOS Features” page indicates no IDE devices. Resetting the detections to “Auto” across the board makes no difference. Resetting the CMOS via the “Clear CMOS Jumper” and via removing the CMOS battery changes nothing except that the CMOS returns to the default settings, and the BIOS still fails to detect the optical drives.
Since SATA1 and SATA2 are detected and operating, I believe that the chipset is OK because they are served by the same Drive Station on the chipset as IDE1 and IDE2 which aren’t detected and operating. I also consider damage to the motherboard itself to be an unlikely cause because that can’t account for all of the systems, either. I suspect the BIOS because of the following:
    1. The BIOS is so slow to initiate, as is the entrance into setup.
    2. The direction to press the “DEL” key for access to BIOS Setup never appears.
    3. The BIOS has stopped detecting the drives on IDE1 and IDE2.
    4. All of these functions that take place prior to chipset initiation.
Does anyone know what happened and what needs to be done to return the BIOS to normal operation? Or, is this a board failure, after all?

OK, what is BIOS eventually booting from? Is your SATA working?
What appears to be happenning is that the BIOS times out while trying to detect the IDE's (in this case, optical drives) and then just goes ahead and boots. The SATA's are working fine, as is Windows, once I wait out the time out for the BIOS. Except, of course, Windows also can't see and doesn't indicate in Program Manager the opticals that the BIOS couldn't find, which makes sense. The odd thing in this scenario is that, once the BIOS times out and goes on, it does not provide the customary message to hit "DEL" to enter Setup (but holding down "DEL" when the BIOS procedes will take me to Setup anyway!
I talked to eSupport today, and the techie says it's a BIOS problem that their update will resolve. Well, of course it WILL; they sell updates (duhhh). Being the trusting soul I am, I'd like some independent confirmation. I've posted this on 4 forums hoping to catch someone who has seen this happen before, in addition to contacting eSupport (Amibios's update shop) and MSI Support.
MSI's Support Department is, of course, silent, as usual.

  • KT6 Delta FISR + BIOS 5.6 + SATA

Beware of this combination - I had problem to pass booting of PC   I had to downgrade to BIOS 5.5 again and everything is all right now...
    AthlonXP 3200+, KT6 Delta-FISR, 256MB RAM, HD Seagate  ST380013 AS etc.

    Hello,
Would MSI bring out a BIOS with defects?
Its possible but they do test every BIOS carefully.
When you flashed your KT6, did you reconfigure all your settings?
enable PATA, SATA, boot from hard drive?
    memory settings, CPU settings?

  • K8T Neo2 Series bios v3.2 released

MSI has posted bios version 3.2 for the K8T Neo2 series of boards.
    Update description:-
-Support USB devices under DOS mode.
    -Update CPU Microcode (3000+, 3200+, 3500+)
    -BIOS reported incorrect CPU temperature.

    Hi
    Had opposite prob.
ATI radeon is iffy, so I was configing it, there are 2 settings in AGP 66 and 75 MHZ, mine works on 66 by ' default', but if I try 75Mhz, its a reset cmos jumper job.  I assumed the monitor driver is at 66Mhz, and that was the root of problem, as Monitor runs on 4 rigs, have not bothered altering display settings.
    cheers

  • K7n2 delta series: bios settings & FSB

    Hello! All
    Happy Easter holidays!
Currently, I have my board fsb settings at 133 mhz and have an AMD 3000 Athlon, my question is: What settings should I have my FSB settings on? I would like to maximize my bios settings and I feel 133 mhz I am not maximizing system performance. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

    ReneH,
Your min FSB should be 166Mhz. Which flavor 3000+ do you have, since I think that one came in both 166Mhz (2.16GHz) and 200Mhz (2.1GHz) FSB's.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. But with no specs on your comp and my Chrystal Ball in the shop for repairs, I can only take a spab in the dark.

  • KT6 Delta Large lba ??

    hi, all
i have  brand new MSI kt6 delta series, with Athalon XP 2500+ and i am having problems with my 160 gig external storage drive its only showing up as 127 gig  , I am running windows 2000,,, and yes with all new service packs etc.bios is updated to the newest also. and added the 48 bit value in the registry---(EnableBigLba)=1), and I am still not seeing correct size, guess my question is ,, is this motherboard 48 bit compatible, I read the manual and did not see it listed in the specs, any help would greatly be appreciated
    Thanks ,, Lee

I may be wrong but I thought that it was best to format larger HDD's with F-Disk then convert it over to NTFS in windows Command Prompt
then you should see the full 160gig HDD

  • [KT6-DELTA] System won't start up

I have used MSI KT6-Delta series for almost 2 years and so far there were no problem. Yesterday, my sister used the computer, but after few minutes the computer was "hang". After she restarted the system, the system cannot start up.
    - The power indicator on the casing is OFF
    - The fan of processor is ON
    - The light on my CD-Writer is ON
    - There is no output display on my monitor.
    - There is no "beep" sound.
    Any suggestions about this problem?

I had a smilar problem with this same board it was power supply related...
Please check that the HDD spins up
and that you video card is properly seated
and finally chack the speed of the CPU fan is normal... like I said I had a similar prblem and the way I knew it was the PSU that that the CPU fan was turning very slowly.
Also please make a signature like below so we can diagnosis your system better including max amps of the rails in your PSU 3.3V, 5.0V and 12V.

  • KT6 Delta/KT3 Ultra2 and MegaRAID SCSI failure

    Greetings,
    Synopsis:
I have several MSI motherboards and a MegaRAID SCSI 320-2 RAID controller made by LSI Logic. In the older boards (K7D Master and K7T Turbo2), the controller works normally. In the newer boards (KT3 Ultra2 and KT6 Delta), the controller is unable to display its DOS based or "Web" based BIOS.
I have changed numerous settings in the BIOS of the newer boards but nothing seems to allow me to configure the RAID controller. I also found the following link (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=16821&sid=&hilight=SCSI+RAID) to be interesting. Unfortunately, the suggestions therein did not effect a positive change.
    Details:
    Working boards:
K7D Master Award BIOS W6501MS V1.1 030502 with 2 AMD Athlon MP 2000+ processors, 1 Gig DDR memory.
    K7T Turbo2 Award BIOS W6330MS V3.3 121901 with 1 AMD Athlon 1200, 512 Meg of SDRAM.
    Non-working boards:
    KT3 Ultra2 AMI BIOS A6380VMS V5.5 071002 with 1 AMD Athlon XP 2100+, 1 Gig DDR 333 MHz memory. PS actual reading: +5=5.030, +12=12.228, -12=-12.071, -5=-5.026. Single 450Watt PS.
    KT6 Delta AMI BIOS A6590VMS V5.5 021004 with 1 AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 1.5 Gig DDR 400 MHz memory. PS actual reading: +5=5.278, +12=12.045, -12=-12.400, -5=-5.277. Dual 450Watt PS.
The non-working boards work normally without the RAID controller. In fact, they seem to work normally with the RAID controller save that they do not allow the RAID controller to enter configuration mode. They report that - will be executed at the end of POST but they just go to a boot attempt off the floppy drive.
These same systems (the last two) also do not work with an AMI Enterprise 1400 RAID controller BIOS ver. 1.48 (latest version) or an LSI Logic made Mylex controller.
Any suggestions on configuration changes, etc. that would allow these RAID controllers to work in the aforementioned motherboards would be greatly appreciated. Further information available if needed.
-Motherboard type and model: See above.
-Bios type and revision: See above.
-CPU type and model: See above.
-Memory name, model and quantity: See above and seemingly irrelevant.
-Video card: AGP based, but all different.

-Operating system and service pack level: Seemingly irrelevant as no OS is installed.

I feel your pain buddy !!! it's the same thing for me.  I just got a LSI-22320 and I going through the same troubles.  I was really looking forward to having this nice card in my system, only to find out it would not even let the system boot.  I took the card out and pluged it in my Mom's older than dirt computer and IT WORKS !!... This was a very disapointing experience to say the least....
Well, if you do here something good, please let me know...
