KT6 Delta with ATI 9600XT

Hello group:
I am having problems with my ATI video card and the MSI KT6 Delta set at 8x AGP - it hangs the system - especially when playing games.  A friend found a forum message from someone with the same problem and he said: "The problem was solved by downloading the latest VIA 4in1 Drivers (v4.51).  The latest drivers on MSI's site are only 4.49 and they will cause lock-ups with the AGP set at 8X."  Neglected to say where he downloaded the VIA 4in1 Drivers - can anyone help me with this?  Thanks in advance, John, Enschede, Netherlands

http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300
there you will find 4.51. But the hanging of AGP8x cards is nothing unusual, just set down to 4x. It won't cost you a frame. But a BIOS update could help, too.

  • KT6 Delta FIS2R, XP3200+, 433FSB possible?

Im looking to hit 433FSB for my rig.
Only problem is, its a FULL rig, using all the extra features.
Ive got HyperX PC3500 rated for 433Mhz.
I have RAID-0 on the VIA SATA controller.
The promise controller is also in use.
    I have a big heatsink.
My system is 100% stable and tested with everything under the sun, and moon.
So the target is 216mhz in Bios FSB setting, which WILL give me a PR rating of 3600+.
Doing the calculation, the PCI will be at 36Mhz and AGP at 72Mhz. This dosnt sound like much of a problem to me, except for the RAID controllers.
Has anyone overclocked their KT6 deltas with the raid controllers in use as well?

I definately need the 2 raid in use while doing this.
ive seen reviews of it at 230FSB, and then benchmarked at that overclock.
It should be able to handle it, its only 36mhz PCI for flip sake, not 46......!!!!!!!!
I'm still finding out from other sources, but will report back as regular as possible on what it can handle.

  • MSI KT6 Delta series problem!! :(

    Hi there!
Im new to the forums so hello to everybody
Ok i have a problem with my new motherboard.
I bought the MSI KT6 Delta SLR i think ...
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=474
Ok before i bought this motherboard i used to have a ABIT KT7 Raid and it all worked well!
But i wanted a new 1 so i bought the MSI mobo.
The setup in my case didnt change at all i only replaced the motherboard.
I started it up and it couldnt find the HD's on IDE1 ...But it did find the CDroms , dvd etc on IDE2.
I changed it around so i had the HD's on IDE2 and CDROM's on IDE2 ...but it didnt startup after that ...
I changed them back and again it only found the CDrom's .
I thought hmz maybe i broke something who knows so i changed back to the old mother board and it worked well again
So it had to be the motherboard i thought ...so i went back ...got a new 1 same brand / type etc.
Again i did the same but now AGAIN it didnt find the HD's on IDE1 ...but it DID find the HD's on IDE2 .....
So now im stuck with only 1 HD and a dvd burner
What could be the problem ?
I tried everything....from " master/slave "  and only 1 HD or only 2 HD's etc but then it either cant find the disks or it wont startup at all ....

  • System crash with KT6 Delta

    Hi,
I am new around here, so excuse the noobness
Anyway, i hope you guys can help me out here a bit.
    So here goes :
I just purchased a  MSI KT6 Delta mobo to replace my old SYK7V Dragon Plus mobo which died on me 2 days ago. Initial installation was ok, with these device installed :
    1) AMD Athlon XP 2000+
    2) Winfast Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64MB
    3) Creative Audigy Soundcard
    4) 2 HDD, C: (120GB, Partition to 2 10GB and 100GB) E: (40GB)
    5) 2 x 256MB PC2100 (Crucial RAM)
    6) Logitech USB Optical Mouse
    7) Aztech ADSL Modem (906EU)
The above configuration work flawlessly with all memory timing, AGP option turn to the max.
The problem arise when i added a new NIC from 3Com, the model of the NIC is 3C905C-TX-M, a 10/100Base-T card. The problem i am now facing is intermitten crash, the PC will just freeze in the middle of an operation, if it is in Windows, the mouse will stop moving. If it is in a game, the sound will skip and repeat a few tone, the screen will freeze also.
I have already updated the following drivers for these device :
    1) VIA Inf driver, the latest downloadble from http://www.viaarena.com
    2) Geforce driver, latest downloadble from nvidia.com
    3) Audigy driver, latest downloadble from crative website.
    4) 3Com Nic driver, latest downloadble from 3Com website.
I suspect it could be my Soundcard crashing with the nic somehow, as it i happen to see some skipping sound after i installed the nic. I have tried changing the PCI latency from 36 up to 128, still no help. I tried moving my soundcard to different PCI slot, and still the problem persist. Do any of you guys have this sort of problem? Any idea at all?

Mind elaborating a bit? I am not very well versed in PSU terminology. All those are just number to me. They know me, but alas i don't know them. All i know is a bigger PSU would almost always means a better PSU. I am planning to get either a Ati 9600XT or a 9800 Pro/XT in about 2-3 months time. If it is indeed that i need a newer PSU, perhaps you can tell me what to look out for, since i may as well be buying a new PSU.
Also... the PC seems to be running in a stable condition. No more hanging or crashes. I have also changed some setting in AGP, so as to speed up some game play, and still no crashes. Changed setting on BIOS for AGP is :
    AGP mode : 4x
AGP aperture : 256MB (I usually set em at half my system ram)
    Fast Write : Enabled
    AGP Master 1 W/S Write : Enabled
    AGP Master 1 W/S Read : Enabled
    AGP Read Synch : Enabled
Gaming performance has been increase noticably, no more jerkiness.
Also, i have found out that my NIC has a shared IRQ with my OHCI compliant 1394 IEEE Host Controller, so i disabled that. I am not using it anyway, no loss there.
I will be trying memory tweaking tomorrow and let you guys know if there any crashes. Memory timing now in BIOS is still relatively conservative. I'll let it run for a day and see if there any problem before i mess with the memory timings.
Thanks to the kind people who help me. Appreciate all the help from you all.

  • [VIA] KT6 Delta (MS-6590) with GeForce FX won't boot

Hi, I have an MSI KT6 Delta motherboard and a XP2000 processor, I've been using this with an ATI 9600 All in Wonder graphics card for about a year. I've just bought an Inno3D Tornado GeForce FX 256Mb graphics card. I uninstalled all ATI software with their uninstall utility, shutdown, swapped graphics cards and rebooted. The system did not boot - no beeps (I usually get 1 beep). Looking at my PSU I found it was a 300W PSU and the specs for the GeForce stated it required a 350W PSU. So, I bought a Q-Tec 550W PSU and installed it and tried booting, same result, no beeps, no VGA signal, I can here the fans working but nothing else happens. The D-Bracket on the rear of the PC has all four LED's on in Red. This means there's a problem with the CPU, but if I take the GeForce card out and replace the ATI card, system boots fine (although poor graphics as there are no drivers) I am using 3 memory sticks - 2 bought at the same time and 1 I added later - all 3 have been working fine with the ATI. They are 2 X 256Mb and 1 X 512Mb not sure of the makes and I see from the other posts I should see if the GeForce will work with just one memorey module in place, I'll try that later. When I checked the BIOS with the ATI installed I noticed under AGP settings it only allowed me to select 1X 2X 4X - I don't see Auto as an option as it says I should in the manual. I had all the AGP settings set to disabled with the ATI card i.e. AGP Master 1 W/S Read and Write and AGP Synchronization all disabled - so I tried enabling them, no change. Made sure primary display is set to VGA/EGA. The card has multi monitor support and I've tried my monitor on both the DVI output and the VGA output using the correct adaptor, I've also tried hooking up the Svideo as thats got me out of trouble before, but not in this case.
I'm out of ideas now, do these symptoms point to a problem, does the four LED's indicating CPU failure mean anything else?
    Any suggestions?
Other info that may be of use -

    Lite On CD burner
    Phillips CD/DVD burner
Onboard sound and Edirol USB soundcard
    NEC 1525x Multisync LCD

    Hi everyone
I'm releived to read the greyed out AGP option is normal.
Hi Frederick! -  When I put the Disks and HD's back I was very careful to ensure they went back correctly although I did swap my DVD and CD around to different Master Slave positions on the same IDE. I keep my Master Slave HD's on the Primary IDE on the basis that when your burning it better to have the data on a different IDE (secondary) so there's no access issues between the burner and data retrival from the HD - which I guess is what your refering to about the install medium being on the same IDE as the HD. I didn't think about being able to change the AGP but looking at the options I don't think I can, if I remember correctly I could with my ATI card. But as long as its all running correctly its ok.
And the final update to all this -
After installing Linux I was sure there was nothing wrong my hardware but couldn't understand why windows wouln't install.
For no particular reason I ran RegClean, rebooted and tried the install again, this time I didn't lose graphics, so I defraged and installed the motherboard drivers, after rebooting I lost the graphics again. Video was still there as before with my LCD delivering a resolution notifier that 1024 X 768 was optimal resolution - so video was present. Thinking I couldn't continue I pressed CTRL ALT DEL a few times to try and restart but then the Windows welcome screen apeared followed by the desktop. So I tried re running RegClean again and rebooted but I still lost the graphics on loading, CTRL ALT DEL bought it back again. I decided to keep going on the basis a complete but flawed install was better than none. I continued and installed Direct X9 defraged and rebooted, no change. I installed the graphics driver, no change after reboot but CTRL ALT DEL bought up welcome screen and then desktop as before. Then I installed Service Pack 2, defraged and rebooted and this time I didn't lose graphics when window was loading, no need for CTRL ALT DEL anymore. I kept going and finished the install without losing the graphics anymore and it all seems stable. NTL went down again in my area at midday when I finished so I've been unable to post this last bit until now.
If anyone can explain what happened here I would be grateful. I understand the faulty cards were faulty so thats that - but why did I lose graphics until service pack 2, why did pressing CTRL ALT DEL a few times bring it back? Is it possible my systen broke the graphics cards? Is this an issue I can avoid somehow in the future during new installs on this machine? (should and when the need arises) Was it a mistake to update the VIA chipset drivers before I started all this?
Thanks again for all the help.

  • [VIA] Problem with Creative X-FI on KT6 Delta FI2SR

    Hi all
    I have a KT6 Delta FI2SR with 1GB PC3200 400MHz DDR, and an Athlon 3200XP+, running BIOS 5.7 (latest).
I recently bought and added a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS soundcard, and I have an issue....
The card was installed, is on IRQ19 (no conflicts anywhere with sound), and on-board sound is disabled.
Randomly, on cold boot, I get told "NVRAM Update OK", and then I get NO SOUND!
It stays like that until I reboot and it "Updates" again, or I clear the NVRAM in BIOS.
LOTS of people on the Creative Forum have reported similar issues with ASUS Mobos, and nForce chipsets, but this is an MSI with VIA!
ALL (and I do mean ALL) device drivers are up to date....
Can someone @ MSI look into this? ASUS have resolved their issue with BIOS updates, but nothing for this board for a while!
I've tried mailing MSI support BUT [email protected] AND [email protected] get SMTP failures (no known username).

    I would hope the PSU is fine - it's a 620 watt PSU which I bought when I installed a GeForce 6800GT
Both motherboard power connectors are connected up.  PSU has two outgoing rails, with 3 main Molex and 1 mini (floppy) adaptor on each rail.
In the machine we have :
1 x Asus V9999GT GeForce 6800GT AGP 8x card (with dual molex connectors)
    1 x Creative X-FI Fatal1ty FPS PCI card
1 x Adaptec 29040UW SCSI controller PCI card
    2 x 80GB Maxtor 7200RPM SATA HDD drives (as one RAID0 array)
1 x Creative Fatal1ty FPS front bay (powered - small connector)
    1 x MSI Dual-Layer DVD+RW Drive
    1 x HP Surestore 12/24 DDS3 DAT Drive
    1 x Panasonic LS-120 HDD Floppy Drive
    1 x IOMega ZIP 250 ATAPI Drive
Logitech cordless keyboard & mouse on PS2 connectors
    COM1 has a trackball
COM2 is a signal cable for a Liebert Powersure UPS
LPT1 is disabled (I have a networked printer)
7 of 8 USB slots are currently in use : (Joystick, Bluetooth adaptor, Fuji 6900Z Camera, Primefilm 35mm film scanner (own power), HP Jornada 568 PDA (own power),  Logitech QuickCam Home webcam, Wacom Graphire Tablet)
CPU fan is powered and adjustable, and the case has 7 controllable fans.
There is a SCSI scanner (own power) and the 17" LCD monitor connected (on it's own power) as well, and thats it.
I've disabled the Case LED (which was also powered).
Obviously there are a couple of power splitters in there to supply power to the various internals

  • [VIA] Problems with MSI KT6 Delta

    MSI KT6 Delta
    AMD XP 2000+
    256 MB DDR 400
    GeForce FX5200 128 MB DDR
I installed WinXP+SP1 and VIA4in1 v4.55 with NVIDIA 66.93 drivers. The screen fades out and in less than a second the picture shows up again.
Note: What should appear in device manager in section "System devices" after installing VIA4in1 v4.55?
I tried: changing video card, RAM memory, installing WinXP+SP2 (worse results!)
    Thanks in advance

The system reports no errors nor conflicts in Device Manager window. This problem appeared when I did an upgrade from WinXP SP1 to SP2. I use Fedora Core on the same computer with NVIDIA drivers installed and there were no problems. I tried to change the monitor but it was the same. I think I managed to solve the problem by installing WinXP SP1 and an older NVIDIA driver (version 4.5.2.3) and VIA 4in1 pack 4.55. Everything runs smooth for now.

  • Problem with KT6 Delta-LSR

    Hello
I bought MSI KT6 Delta-lsr today and haven't had it work yet.
Usually when I turn on the power only fans start to run and i get memory or processor error from d-bracket leds. Memory chips and processor should be ok since sometimes If I clear cmos and start pc, it seems to start fine and all leds are green but system will hang in winxp loading screen. Changing options in bios doesn't seem to do any good, usually boot after editing bios will cause again memory or processor error.
Any idea what is causing this problem?
    Specs.
Amd TB 1ghz -> too old for this mobo?
256mb seitec ddr 333 (also tested Twinmos memory chips)
    Msi kt6 delta-lsr
    Msi gf4 ti 4200
harddrives, cd, cd-rw, the usual stuff...

Thank you for moving this topic to right forum.
I was wondering if those memory chips just doesn't work with my processor.
Could someone explain me this fsb and ddr speed stuff? Not sure if my tb runs
with fsb 100 or fsb 133. Or does those setting even matter for ddr rams?
Manual says that if I have cpu speed 100 and 333 ddr it's not supported but 133 and 333 should work. Still pc sometimes seem to start up but freezes soon. So to me it seems memory and proccessor works.

    Hello guys!
I'm a beginner overclocker, so I dont know how far can a 2400+ can go, what is the best performance it can handle with stabiliy. Please help me, thanks!!!

    MSI KT6 Delta LSR
    TwinMos 512 DDR 400

    2.4 with an AXDA model.
runs at 2.5 in dos, but dosnt boot into windows.
Reeeal good heatsink like those thermalrights with a big fan would probably run 2.5G's.
Water cooling should do a mighty job at OC'ing the 2400+
Im gonna AS5 and lap my V12, should do quite alot better after that, not much extra cost either.
    Runs mighty hot though.....yeeeeeeeowwwww

  • Power Up probs with kt6 delta fis2r

I've recently changed my mother board and given my kt6 delta fis2r to my dad. It came out of my comp in fine working condition (earthed when removing etc.) It's now in my dad's case and when it's switched on it immidiatly switches off again. The bios was updated to 5.5 but was working for weeks before being moved. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advanced.

Just spoken to him, he's had the board out on the box connected it accross and it does the same, it's not actually getting far enough to give anything on the d-bracket. I've got a spare power supply here that isn't a Q-Tec and we're gonna try it on that first. My bro has also had probs this weekend so I'm told, he had a KT6V with the same power supply, and is now running my dads kt4 ultra. My bros PSU isn't liking my dad's comp either, so I'm now wondering if it's something to do with the 4 pin power plug on both PSU's? Still confused tho as I havn't had any probs with the board while it was on my Q-tec PSU, just lucky I guess?
Thanks for all of the replies, I'll be changing my PSU asap.

  • MSI KT6 Delta( Via KT600) works with mobiles???

Hello, just bought today a used cpu, it's a Athlon XP mobile 2000+ for my MSI KT6 DELTA...
It just won't boot... i turns on and off after a second or less...
    Is this an unsupported cpu??
I've searched on teh msi page for cpu support, and I have my doubts...
Here's what's qritten on the CPU Core:  AXMH2000FQQ3C
    For waht i understand it's a Thoroughbred/barton based cpu, 45W, works at 1667MHz, with FSB Autodetect, deafault V, 1.45, max temp 100º C, 256kb cache, 266 MHz bus...
It's said on the main page of this board, that it's supports 400MHz FSB's...
    HELP PLEASE!!!

    HELLO??? IT SIMPLY DOESN'T RUNS!!!
you expecting help adopting that tone?
lose the sarcasm and the caps lock and you more likely to get advice
For what it is worth you are not making yourself clear.
    For example:-  Quote
It just won't boot... i turns on and off after a second or less...
    Quote
and to turn it back on with the cpu, i have to clear cmos data...
Let's assume cpu is correctly greased and seated; when you power on get no response (psu fan, cpu fan, case fan, beeps?) unless you clear cmos and then once you do that you get 1 sec of activity before system powers down?
have you put old cpu back in and still works?
i guess you will know more when you test new cpu elsewhere

    Hi everybody!
I really need some help from somebody with the MSI KT6 Delta-FIS2R motherboard (the one with onboard LAN, Audio, RAID, S-ATA and IEEE1394 firewire). You see. I've got this board myself but it's been destroyd. Some values for the onboard devices in my board has been overwritten so that windows no longer recognizes the onboard LAN and Audio controller anymore. I really need some help from somebody with this board.
I need to see what the values for the onboard devices should be. I hope someone can help me by sending me a repport from the Everest home edition: http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en
If anyone could do me this favour, I would be VERRY thankfull

  • Single SATA drive with VIA VT8237 Chipset (KT6 Delta-FIS2R) ?

After the installation of one (!) 120GB MAXTOR SATA drive on the VIA Southbridge,
partitioning, formating and installation of Win 98 SE I face the following problem:
    - Under ControlPanel-> System-> DeviceManager there is a missing driver for the
      SATA RAID Controller
    - After installation of the VIA SATA/RAID-driver and rebooting,
Windows get stucked (obviously because no RAID-array is defined)
    - Afer rebooting the second time, one can find in the DeviceManager a VIA SCSI
Entry that says driver is not started anymore because of faillure
    - Under ControlPanel-> System-> SystemPerformance one found the information
that the SATA drive is running in MS-DOS compatibility mode because of a not
      started driver
    Question(s):
Is there a driver for the VIA SATA interface that will work with a single drive or
is the only workaround at the moment the use of the "slower" promise controller?
Or is it still a BIOS problem (That one can not install an "dummy-array" with a single drive) ?
    KT6 Delta-FIS2R with BIOS 5.2

Me too - regarding "slower" performance, but my only source was a VIA article...
(...but there must be a reason why MSI build in the additional Promise-controller)
    Thanks for quick information!

  • KT6 Delta - Random freezes and LAN Issues

Just built a new PC, installed Win XP, installed all the drivers etc.
I get random freezes - as in the machine will just stop responding totally.  I could run for an hour before a freeze, other times its frozen before I've even logged in.
Also the LAN keeps dropping out too.  The timing of this is also random, just to make things interesting.  I could be downloading a 20MB file, get only 2MB into it, then it just sits there.  The only way to get the LAN back up and running is to reboot.  Once I've rebooted, its a case of just waiting for it to fail again
    The specs are as follows:
    KT6 Delta-FIS2R (Gigabit LAN etc.)
    AMD 2800XP+
    1GB Crucial (2 x 512)
    ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
    80 Maxtor HD
    400W PSU
I've got the FSB set to 166 and also set the memory up correctly (333 and 2.5 cl) but to no avail.
I was running with a Soundblaster Audigy card, but took that out and still got the same.  I even tried taking out one of the memory modules.
I don't think its a temperature issue as the CPU is currently running at about 47 Degrees and I've got the side off-of the case.
Please - anyone got any ideas???

I have a KT6 Delta LSR and am having probs with the onboard Broadcom 4401 as well.
After Initial boot of machine I have 2-5 minutes to surf the net or whatever. At that time I lose connection. Also if I linger on one page long enough to read, I lose connection. Or shutdown a net connected program, it loses connection.
When I play Tribes - the connection stays till I leave the server - then I have to reboot.
This is driving me nuts. I have disabled the Lan in bios and installed a Netgear 10/100. XP recognizes it but cannot get rid of "Cable not plugged in" message. So I reinstalled the 4401.
I have RR and am behind a Phoebe 4 port router. None of the other computers have a problem with the router, and I have tried changing plug in ports around among the computers.
I have the same version of driver for it as the latest at MSI. Flashed the latest bios lately as well, in desperation.
Any ideas? I sure would appreciate it.
