Kt6v cpu ratio & sound problems

Hello everybody,
First of all, I apologize for my english,
I recently bought a Msi motherboard,a KT6v model (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=KT6V-LSR). My comptuer boot well, but I have two problems:
First, I can't modify the cpu ratio in the bios setting. If I do it, the four Leds of the control bracket are red and i have to do a clear CMOS (very difficult to reach the jumper :-/). It also do it if I choose the good cpu ratio and fsb (13*166)! I try with a 2400+ (15*133) and I have the same problem. These two processeurs have already been modified on an Asus a7nv8x-x(nforce2) and an Asrok Kt78xe+ (with jumper) motherboards, so I think they are not blocked. I also try to disable the "corecell" feature but it seems to be impossible in the bios. I just want to use the "high" ability of overclocking (in fact, only up the fsb and reduce the ratio) of my motherboard longly discribed in the user manual... I installed the latest via drivers.
All is working fine if the cpu ratio feature is "auto". And cpuz software says I have a 13*166 cpu ...
Second, the sound is not good. I can't use the 5.1 option (very bad rear sound and no subwoofer emulation). I try an Altec lansing 5.1 Kit and it's not working fine. I take care of the two jumpers and to install the latest drivers :-/ . It's a longtime I want to buy a sound card, perhaps it's time to do it.  I'm fed up about the integrated sound cards, I want my sb Awe 64
I like Msi products and it's the first time I have problem with one of them. I hope there is a solution for the first problem, or perhaps I only  misunderstood a feature?
I have another question please:
Can I switch off, during the boot of the computer, the menu for network boot option?
Thank you very much  and I am sorry for my english.

Hello all,
thanks you for your answers!

+5V     ==   30A
+12V   ==   15A
-5V      ==  1A
 -12V   ==  1A
+5Vsb  ==  2,2 A
I don't really want overclock my CPU, I want to change the fsb frequency from 166 to 200Mhz and modify the ratio from 13 to 10,5.
But I can't.
As I said before, I have already modify the cpu settings with 2 other motherboards, with the same Psu, the same cpu, and all the same components. So, I don't think the Psu is the problem, I hope these are good values because it's an expensive Enermax psu...
I will test for the sound, thank you !

I have done many tests with cpu's bios features but I have always my 'strange' problem
Thank you very much all for you answers !!

  • 865p wierd cpu ratio select problem

I just got a new p4 3ghz 800mhz fsb cpu and an 865p neo motherboard.  When I boot.  It gives and error saying it thinks that the bios is configured correctly.  For the CPU it says " , 1.6ghz "  When I enter setup.  In the menu option for setting CPU ratio I get wierd selection.  (yes it is an unlocked part. (I work at Intel)
It starts at H1.0X whatever that is supposed to mean. My choices are
    0.0x, H1.0x, H2.0x ...  I1.0x, I2.0x, ... I5.0x
No matter what I choose when I save and exit it just leaves me with a blank screen then shuts itself off.  It keeps doing that until I reset the bios then I'm back to where I began.
If I say skip and go to the boot menu I works until I have to reboot again.  I managed to intall the operating system, etc so I could get internet working and use the live update thing.  It says my bios and inf are current.

  • CPU Ratio No Post Problem

As I was messing around in the BIOS I Accidenly changed my CPU Ratio in the Cell Core from Auto to 4X, next time I tried to reboot, my computer started, but my monitor and keyboard stayed off.  Hence my Dilema.  In order to change my settings back to what they were, I need to get into the BIOS which is quite impossible without a working keyboard/Motherboard.
So heres my question, what in gods name do I do to get back my original settings.  Any help would be great, and as fast as possible please.
Also it was working very well before, so everything else is ok ie. powersupply ect.
Its a neo 2 platnium Mobo with a AMD 3500+ Proccesor and Corsair Ram DDR466 (1gig) Antec Blue 480 Watt Powersupply
(Just so you know, Im on my fathers computer)

Is that easier?  I would think the battery would be?
    http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#1_2
I mean if you insist on the jumper ill do it that way.  But if it doesnt matter either way...... Which is easier for a nub like me,.
Oh and I know its not a chat room, Im just frusterated as im sure anyone would be that my comp isnt working.  Sorry though. :(

  • Sound Problem Plus Memory Problem

I've also posted this same issue at the EVGA website with no help what so ever yet. Also if it's ok I'm having the above mentioned memory problem that it probable not related but if anyone does have good input I would love to hear. Hope this doesn't break any rules, didn't see anything in the listed rules thread. So here it goes.
Ok I'm having a few minor but very perplexing and annoying problems. I have recently built a new rig to include the following.
Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition
    EVGA P55 FTW Intel P55 Socket LGA56
    Intel Core i5-750 2.66Ghz 8M LGA56 CPU
    Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR3 PC2800 (2 x 2 GB sticks)
    Ultra LSP750 750w Power Supply
Seagate TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB
Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower Black Case
Galaxy GeForce GTS 250 52MB PCIe x2 (SLI Setup)
BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT GB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card (Physx Setup)
    PROBLEM ONE:
This one I had a lot less that I was able to actually try because it just confused the crap out of me. So I started by going to test my sound. I'm running an optical cable from the on board sound port to back of my sony surround sound system. I get sound from my left and right channel but nothing from the center, rears or sub. So figure no biggie just need to change the configuration from 2 speaker stereo to 5. surround sound. Guess what... the option isn't there? WTF? A sound card with an optical port with no 5. support? So went online found the drivers for the sound on the mother board and tried reinstalling thinking maybe somthing was wrong with the drivers on the CD. Well it still didn't work. So I figured what ever, I got an external sound card that I know works with Windows 7 since it was on other desktop and hooked it up. Its a Creative - Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5. External USB Sound Card. Well it installs fine and I go to test it. Yep you guessed it! Still only sound from the left channel and the right channel with no option for surround sound. So I was able to find updated drivers for that and ran em. Well now I have an option for Surround sound with side speakers only no rear. Oh but it doesn't really matter because the left and right channel are still the only ones able to produce sound. And yes the speakers work I turned on my X-Box 360 hooked up to the same speakers and LCD tv and played COD4 with full sound working fine. So something else has to be happening I just have no idea.
    PROBLEM TWO:
The second problem was with the memory. Everything booted fine but it initial only detected 2 GB. By the way I had them installed in slots and 3. So I shut down and popped em out checked the copper connectors everything looked fine and reseated the chi
    ps.
This time during the boot up I checked the BIOS. It saw all 4 GBs of memory. Continued into Windows. Windows now saw all 4 but only .99 GB was available. Now the only other time I've seen anything like this was with on board video sharing the memory, and even then it wasn't half of the systems total memory. I then tried shutting down and putting the chips in 2 and 4 just see what would happen. Well I got an EA post error on the LED, couldn't even boot. So I figured o'well power down completely and tried to run the memory in 2 and 3 to run it out of dual channel. I was able to boot but still had the same issue. .99 GB available and still saw all 4. At this point it was just getting silly so I figured ok I'll download the new BIOS with my laptop, burned it to a CD. Booted the desktop and ran the BIOS flash. Update seemed work fine, honestly the BIOS didn't look much different and I didn't take note of the previous version before I did it so I can only assume it worked. However it did not fix my problem. So I'm still stuck at windows seeing 4 GB of memory with only .99 available.
Anyway... I'll keep trying to get this working and hunting around online, but I'm really hoping you all have some ideas. I'll be trying to call EVGA today for some help too and possibly Corsair. Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello,
cannot help with the sound problem.
For memory, I've got almost the same thing but with 4 sticks of 2gb and only 2 detected on an ASUS P7P55D deluxe.
Bios was my issue but I needed to do this (but with pairs of sticks instead of sticks) after the bios update to finally get my 8gb under windows:
Make a clear cmos. Then boot the computer with only one stick of ram in the port .
If everything is fine, turn off and add the other port of the same color for dual channel.
If it does not boot with the 2 sticks in the port of the good color, try to switch ports again. Maybe one stick is dead?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow thisand then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Start the notebook and let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • FM-A75IA-E53 + A10-6800K cpu ratio is locked

    Hi!
As Russian's MSI forum is dead I'd ask here.
    New board FM-A75IA-E53 (bios 2.0) + A10-6800K + 2x4Gb 2133MHz GSkill Ares RAM
Post, Boot Win7_x64 boot is Ok. But problem comes from Sun Virtual machine player.
The virtual machine is failed to start due to virtualization is off. I have search in the bios but failed to find 'SVM enable' switch. Despite it was described in the manual. (hint: bios 2.0 'SVM enable' is absent)
The bios was updated to 2.2.
'SVM enable' switch appear with Enable/Disable options.
    Win!
    But!
The CPU Ratio and Turbo Ratio is locked now. The lines to set the ratio is active (highlited, not dimmed as disabled) but on action on mouse click.
Does it common error with this mobo+cpu+bios or it is my motherboard bug?
    Please help.

You need to use +/- keys to change ratio settings not mouse click.

  • Vcore and cpu ratio

Hey, i have the K7N2G and i have some problems changing the vcore and cpu ratio in bios...
my cpu is a XP 2100+, it only boots with default vcore and 1.625, and default cpu ratio... if i change the cpu ratio it doesn't boot... what's wrong? what can i do to change de vcore and cpu ratio without crashing? the max fsb that i can use is 157 (~=2050Mhz -> 157*13).
    I have OCZ-EL 256Mb

Wonkanoby....I think you are incorrect (but not 100% sure). I have a 2100 Tbred B and I don't have to use the wire trick if I put it in the EPOX...ASUS..... The nforce2 should unlock the Tbred B core, am I mistaken here?  I also had the same problem as the above user, but I CAN get the msi to unlock it at some lower multipliers. I'm a little confused why the asus and epox nforce2 boards unlocked my chip, but the msi will not. Any ideas?

  • When Should I Correct The Sound Problems?

I have a set of interview clips in an iMovie '08 project. Originally the video was recorded with two mikes, with one mike on each channel ( L and R). Unfortunately, on some of them, the mike level for one of my interviewees is much lower than for the other, which I need to correct. I also want to put the sound from both mikes onto both the L and R channels, instead of one on each channel.
I have done all my splitting and transitions and titles all that stuff, and am ready to export the clips into a final movie. However, I need to sort out the sound problems.
So - my question is this: is it better to fix the sound in iMovie '08 first, before exporting - and if so - what the best way to do this? Or should I export the movie, and if so, into what format, and how would I then edit the sound? I do own Final Cut Express but have never used it.
Or... is there a better way than these [e.g. exporting into some other program BEFORE compiling into a final movie, and then bringing back into iMovie '08]?
    Thanks!

Kanan, the difference you already know, blade .vs rack mount. There are some CPU differences, but not much. Both can be managed by UCSM in version 1.4.x
So it really is ones preference on what you are using it for and how scalable you want things to be for future expansion.
Blades: easy, as you can buy a chassis and have 2 blades in that one chassis and add blades as needed. If using boot from San, can get a server back up in minutes
Rack mount: can take rack space more quickly, takes time to duplicate in case of a failed server
Very small differences, but hope this helps to start the wheels turning.
    Good Luck!

  • Battlefield 2142 sound problem

    Hi guys!
I have sound problems with Battlefield 242 since I bought a new motherboard.
    Old mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
    New one: MSI DKA790GX
    CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9650
    RAM: 4* GB DDR2 800 Kingmax
    Sound: X-FI Xtremegamer PCI
VGA: Sapphire ATI 4850 GB DDR3
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Now I getting static/pop sounds during orbital strikes, only in multiplayer mode, in singleplayer mode everything ok!
    I tried several tips like:
[*]Move the sound card to another PCI expansion slot and reinstall the sound card's drivers<[*]Replace nati've disk controller drivers with generic Windows ones<[*]Update the motherboard's BIOS to the latest version (including "beta" versions)<[*]Set the PCI Latency to 96 or greater<[*]Use the X-Fi card only in "Audio Creation Mode" with "Bit-matched playback" option on<[*]Overclock the PCI bus to 40?MHz instead of 33?MHz<[*]Deactivate X-Fi "Crystalizer"<[*]Deactivate unused devices in the motherboard's BIOS to free IRQ resources (RS-232 and Centronix ports, second Ethernet port, Parallel ATA controller, integrated audio)<[*]Deactivate Plug and Play in the motherboard's BIOS.<?
    Any more idea?

"Re: Battlefield 242 sound problem! i've had this issue on my PC since the game came out with my X-Fi xtremegamer, even before win7. i think they said it happens with certain motherboards and there is no fix for it.
what i just do is set it on hardware mode, with high quality. if i use X-Fi mode, then my sound goes crazy during orbital strikes. i wish there was a way to use ultra high audio quality with hardware mode for people like us though.
interestingly, there was a similar problem in BF2. all the static, crackling, popping noise one day disappeared. it was earlier this year, i am not sure what fixed it, but if it was Creative that fixed BF2's X-Fi mode, I really think they ought to do the same for 242. i am guessing it was Creative because it was during a time when there were no patches for the game. it might have even been the latest OpenAL update i applied to BF2, but it was still from Creative. i did apply the same OpenAL update to 242 but it did not fix the static, crackling, pop problem during orbital strikes.

  • MSI GT660 Sound Problem (Win 7)

Hey guys, i recently decided to reformat my MSI GT660, so obviously something i have not installed correctly has caused this problem. I'm just not sure what. The sound works, it's just as i'm playing music in the background every now and then, it'll sound distorted and messed up for a few seconds, then go back to normal.
It keeps doing this, and it's really annoying. I tried reinstalling the Realtek HD audio driver, but no luck. Any ideas?

    The sound is MP3? Internet?
    Played with what player?
What do you do in the foreground?
100% CPU load can cause such too.
Your information is waaaaay to little to even start guessing.
Hmm yeah, guess i wasn't really thinking. Right, it's played using Spotify, i just tested with Winamp though and the same problem is there. So it's all kinds of sounds really. I don't think it's 100% CPU load cause i checked the core history and none hit 100%, also i'm only browsing the internet when this happens. So to answer the question of what i'm doing, not much really just opening new windows etc.
It never used to do this before i reformatted it, and it's only just started now. I don't think i noticed any sound problems when i was playing a game earlier though... i'll have to check that one out.

  • 875P CPU Ratio locked?

    Just setup my system
    875P MSI NEO MB
    P4 2.8 800FSB HT
    2x 512 HyperX Kingston RAM
    2x WD HDD SATA Raptor 36.7 10000RPM
    KT - 436 WM Case
    ANTEC 480w TrueBlue
    Sony FDD
    Pioneer CD/DVD-ROM
The Drives are setup in a RAID-0
    Here are my problems
    1) The Freq/Volt is listing the CPU Ratio as Locked!?!?! WTH!! I can't touch the multiplier!!
    2) I cannot get the HDD LED to work for the life of me anyone had success is the manual wrong? should I try other Pins?
    3) My case has Front Panel USB(x4). 2 of the connectors from the panel are meant to plug into the board and each have a n extra pin that I think is meant as an extra ground or something. Should I just ignore these and plug them in normally?
My RAM runs at 2/2/2/6 8 just fine and the drives are working great got windows loaded just fine with all the drivers and MSI utilities. Though the tru-color doesn't work very well turned everything a bit too blue.
Number one is my real headache I really wanted to run this sucker at 3.0-3.2 and up the FSB a bit.
Also sorry I don't know which BIOS revision I am at since I am at work I'll post it when I get home. Though the auto update thing told me it was up to date.

Ok well I found out Intel still locks their chips I thought they had stopped doing this and just found out how wrong I am.
Anyone have any insights on the HDD LED??

  • 880GM-P51 using wrong CPU ratio

I just bought a 880GM-P51. I'm using the latest BIOS, 12.3, and this AMD Phenom II X4 955. Everything seems fine except the BIOS sets the CPU ratio to x7 when I set it to "auto," which runs the CPU at 1.4 GHz instead of 3.2 GHz. (No, it's not just underclocking to save power, it stays at 1.4 GHz even if I push the CPU to 100% usage.) I can solve the problem by manually setting the CPU ratio to x16, but I'm worried there may be some other settings being incorrectly set. Is the processor incompatible or is something wrong with the motherboard or BIOS?

For anyone else having this problem, it is a BIOS issue. I contacted MSI support. They had me go back to using BIOS version 12.2 instead of 12.3 and that fixed the problem.
Side note: MSI's support is great. They responded within a day, fixed my issue, and said they hope to solve this problem in a future update.

  • MSI neo4 plat(non sli) sound problem.... and other problem...

    hi
    (sorry for my poor english)
    FIRST ISSUE
ok here is the deal, i got no sound when using the rear panel of the mother board... but when i use the front panel of my case there no problem and i get sound....
after reading a lot on sound problem i try first to change my bios so i check the 1.8 and the 1.6 but still no result... , i also try to use the nvidia sound drive instead of the raitek one.... but still nothing ... in the system all appeare to be ok, windows dont detect any conflict on hardware on so one... even the nvidia mixer equaliser move... but no output...
i also read a litle about the compatibylity issue betwen the mobo and the atx2 PSU standard with the using of the 5v pin...,but as far i read it seem that this is only on the sli version...do this issue also concernt the non sli version ?can this explain my problem ?
    SECOND

    Hi!
I am also facing this problem with my K8N NEO4 Platinum Ultra.
I have even tested my PC with a PSU which is having -5v in it's rating.
I have also requested a help from MSI Support.
Their & My reply is as follows.
But still my problem could not be solved.  My sound card as per the OS works fine and produces output.  But no audible output for humans to hear.
This is the case with both front and rear panels.
I have even sent the MB for RMA but here in India, people are fools.  Even from RMA the board was shipped back in the same faulty condition.  What to say?  Whom to curse?  Only money and 20days were spent waiting for repair and in wain.
If any body can help it will be very nice.
Here is my reply to MSI:
My K8n Neo4 Platinum Ultra - earlier was giving good quality sound output. Later after 15 days of using this board, it does not give any audible sound at all. But through headphone socket of cd player I am able to receive good quality sound.
And also while using CD Player to play audio tracks, the output is very intermitent and feeble with lots of cracking noise and poor quality audio is heard.
Through Windows Media Player no sound is heard at all.
I reinstalled win2000/Win2000Server/Win2003 XP Server. In all the platform sound problem exists. Any solutions?
My PSU has 20amps in +12V rail and has no -5v. 24 pin adaptor with 400W.
SATA HDD 80GB WD. 256*2=512mb DDR 400 Ram.
    CPU AMD 3000+ Winchester core.
    Thanks in advance.
    REPLY FROM MSI:
    Dear SoftWheels:
Thank you for contacting MSI Technical Support.
With regard to yoru concern, we would like to know before the onboard sound function abnormally, if you have made any adjustment to your system hardware or software?
And at this time would you please try to un-install the sound driver in the Add or Remove Program, then install the ALC Series AC'97 Audio Drivers refer to the link below, after this please first check if in Device Manager there is any yellow mark.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=637&kind=1.
    AGAIN MY RESPONSE TO MSI:
    Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply. But reply does not solve my problem. I have tried all that you said in your reply.
I have done nothing to hardware. No electrical problems or burning.
Due to no sound, I have even totally zero filled my SATA hard disk, updated bios, re-installed
