Kt6V-LSR Bootdisk corrupt no way to install windows :(.

Ok,  I've asked lots of people and gone tons of places,  and still don't understand how to make a new kt6v lsr bootdisk so I can use my Seagate 80 gig SATA HD,  I know that you have to Press F6 on windows XP startup and then wait till it says to press "s" then press enter after you insert the drive,  But everytime it gives me this error, "File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (4096) at lime 1742 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.
Press any Key to continue."
Now this is the first computer I've ever build myself, but I followed every direction, and now this happens :(.  Can anyone help me out?

I'm really no good at this, but found this on the net:
http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/5327/
Short excerpts:
1 You need your 120 gigger on the primary IDE.
set it up
IDE-1
WD 120 Gig(master)
2 I had the same error trying to set up XP on a raid drive: " caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2108 in d:/xpclient/base/boot/setup/oemdisk.c."
it turns out the problem was in txtsetup.oem. This is basically what Mano Chema said above but I thought a specific example might be helpful to people who (like me) are a little slowt . The offending line was:
d3 = "ITE IT8212 ATA RAID Driver Diskette", \ITERAID, \WIN2K_XP
But actually the path to the driver is \WIN2K&XP (note the & instead of _). I renamed the directory to match what was in txtsetup.oem and then it worked fine.
Generally it appears that error 18 should be something more informative like "Failed to find driver file, check the path specified in txtsetup.oem"

Any way to install Windows 7 by copying the install disk to a HD first?
I have HDs installed in my optical bays.
I can copy the Win 7 install disk to a new freshly formatted HD if needed.
I am unable to install from my Firewire DVD.
    It will not work.
I have a NTFS partition ready to go on an internal drive.
If there is a way to do this I would appreciate any help.
I really do not want to put my DVD back in if it can be avoided.
    Thanks ... Ken

I've done an install off a hard drive, but I was already running Windows on a separate drive partition.
People have put DVD on flash memory, though that is 'maybe' and depends on booting from USB devices.
I routinely put OS X Install DVD on a firewire hard drive and installs quickly (to say nothing of booting in under 60 sec).

  • Proper way to install windows update on Exchange 2010 DAG with one mailbox server in Head Office and 1 mailbox server in DR site both are members of 1 DAG

    Hi Guyz,
I have this setup in my exchange environment.
    1 DAG with 2 members
    - One member is located in Head Office and the other member is located in DR site. All of the mailbox databases are located only in HO (Plan to add additional second member in HO soon). Now what is the proper way to install windows patches on the
member in HO? I don't want to move the databases to DR site as much as possible.
Appreciate your feedback and Many thanks in advance guyz..
    More power to all!
    Regards,

    Hi,
To update the DAG members with new patches, the update process should be managed to prevent all of the DAG members from being offline at the same time.
To do this, I recommend you move the active mailbox databases off a particular server so that it can be patched, and if necessary rebooted, without causing any downtime for mailbox users on that database.

I'm very new to Powershell and completely lost on how to do this.
Looking for a way to install Windows Intune via powershell from a self extracting zip file I will send to remote users. This will also need to run Corp admin level privileges to install.
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Mtirado,
For Windows Intune issue, I recommemd you can post in dedicated forum for more effective support:

  • Is there an easy way to install Windows 7

I'm using Bootcamp and already have Windows XP install as a second OS. I've pre-ordered Windows 7 several months ago and now I have it in hand and would like to replace Windows XP on my iMac.
Though I may not use Windows 7 very much (I'm very pleased with my Apple OS), I would still like to install it.
Is there an easy way to erase the partition that has Windows XP and install Windows 7 instead? How can I do this without touching the Apple OS in fear that I might currupt it in some way?
    Thanking you all in advance,
    Chippathingy

You should considering using VMware Fusion, Parallels Desktop, or Sun's VirtualBox (which is free). Then, you won't have to dedicate a whole partition to Windows. And Windows will be running alongside Mac OS X, so on those less frequent occasions when you need to use a Windows program, you will not need to restart. Plus you can import your existing Windows XP installation as a virtual machine (I don't know if VirtualBox has an import feature), and have a separate virtual machine for running Windows 7, again with no separate partition; you can even have a virtual machine with one of the Linux'es.

Is there any thing that I should watch out for. I have been reading online how some people can no seem to install Windows Xp Home form CD.

I would in fact recommend a universal 2.5" and 3.5" to USB that is readily available online. Shouldn't cost more than $15 USD and you can use it for SATA, IDE, and PATA. And besides, you never know when it will come in handy.

  • Is there a way to install Windows on an extern hard disk?

I have a mid 2010 iMac and inside a 160GB SSD instead of an 1TB HD and I want to install Windows on it. Because of the SSD is to small for Windows and all the games and so on I want to install Windows on an external firewire HD. Is there a way to make this possible?

Windows 7 can be trimmed to fit on 40GB (I've seen smaller but you need that probably). Same for Mac OS, a small OS normally unless you load up FinalCut, X-Plane World Edition, etc.
You can use another drive with NTFS partition for all the other things you want to use, page, applications, whatever, even temp/tmp and cache can be relocated to another volume.
And, there are iMacs with SSD + 2TB hard drives, and while the iMac isn't as easy to service and upgrade there are drive upgrades, incl SSD.

  • Is there ANY way to install windows (for parallels) WITHOUT a superdrive?

I have Parallels (build 5600) and Win XP running fine on my iMac.
I want to run it on my MBA, too.
I have successfully installed Parallels (on a new trial license for now), and when I went to install Windows, learned that it can't be done via Remote Disk.
I'd really rather not spend $100 on an external drive JUST for this purpose.
Can I make a disk image of the windows disk?
Or connect to the imac in target disk mode (or something?!) to use THAT drive?
Or... can I somehow just copy my "virtual machine" from the imac to the MBA? Not sure if that will cause windows serial number police to freak, though...
Glancing through a quick search here, it seems it's possible to migrate the virtual machine. But what files, exactly, do I need to migrate? Just the .hdd file?
I'd prefer to do a nice clean install from the CD, but I don't know if that's possible.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

Ok, I may have answered my own question.
I am copying my Virtual Machine from my imac, but it will take a long time to copy, and takes 10gb of space, so trying that is a last resort.
in the meantime I found this on the parallels site. Looks like you CAN use a disk image. I'm going to try it now- fingers crossed!
    http://kb.parallels.com/en/4826
I'm using Macbook Air and cannot install Windows to Parallels Virtual Machine by means of CD/DVD drive “borrowing” feature. What should I do?
    RESOLUTION
Unfortunately Macbook Air CD/DVD drive “borrowing” feature doesn’t support direct media streaming and thus cannot be used to install Windows (or any other Guest OS ) to Parallels Virtual Machine. To install a Windows VM on Macbook Air you can either create an .iso image of Windows installation disk on some other computer with CD/DVD drive and copy it to Mac or use an external CD/DVD drive that Apple offers for Macbook Air.
Please refer to this article for the instructions on how to create an .iso image for Parallels VM on Mac - http://kb.parallels.com/entry/32/458/

  • Fastest way to install windows 8 with windows 7 or vice versa

    Hi
How much time did it take for you install windows 8 on your pc as a dual boot? It took me 5m56s!!!
The only difference between you all and me would be the method via which we installed. This method does requires legal windows 8 copy or the one which you re installing. This process is far better than installing by booting from cd.
In this method, we use the install.wim of windows installation to install windows. I found this because i was actually preparing for a project on wim images on school. Basically, windows installer also uses the install.wim file to install windows. It was first introduced in windows vista i believe and from then, the trend continued. WIM stands for Windows Imaging Format. . These images are also used in one key recovery for the factory backup. These images can be managed by dism comand line and imagex tool
I know that i have been dragging it for a bit long, so lets start then. It can be done by two programs, gimagex or imagex. The differnce between the two is that imagex works on command line only but the gimagex is like an imagex with user interface-much easier. So, we would use gimagex here, download from below
    http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit-tools/gimagex/
So lets move into the steps
Insert the windows 8/windows 7 dvd or mount the respective iso.
Clear a partition for the new os
Run gimagex, go to the info tab. Select the image file there. Navigate to the setup directory and enter the soruces folder. Then select the install.wim file and then pressget info. It would display the os version it has. See the index number after the title of the version name.
Select the source first. The source is the install.wim image. Navigate to the setup directory and enter the soruces folder. Then select the install.wim file.
Now select the destination. Select the drive which you cleaned for the installation of the os. Then choose the index number of the os version you want to install.
Click apply and then it would be a matter of 5-6 minutes.
After the process is finished, dont reboot. Now, you have to install Easy Bcd since the windows 8 installation wont be registered in the bot configuration data. Download from here. Just download the non-commercial free copy of the software. Instal it and then run. Go to add new entry, select windows 8/7 and name it as windows 8 and lastly select the drive leter in the drive it was installed and press add entry.
Now it is the time to reboot. You would see windows 8 in the boot menu. Boot into it.
Setup windows 8 and download the drivers from here before hand.
With the help of this, you will be able to easily dual boot windows 8 and windows 7 without messing up anything. This is by far the easiest and fasted method to install windows i have witnessed till now
If you want to clean( only kep one os) install, you will have to use imagex in windows pe mode or in cmd in windows 8 install disk.
After these proesses, i cannot assure if one key reocvery would work, so make backup before hand.
And if you have any questions, feel free to ask
    Hope this helps

  • Best way to install Windows 8 on an iMac with 1tb Fusion drive

I just ordered my first iMac. Not my first mac, I have owned numerous Mac laptops in the past but am finally ready to make the switch for my main desktop .
Now I need to installed windows 8.1 because I need to run visual studio. That is literally the only app I need to run.
    Ordered with the below specs:
    27" imac
    i7 processor
    1tb fusion drive
    16gb ram.
I am thinking of two options:
    1) use parallels or vmware fusion and create a 200gb windows virtual machine and give this machine 6gb ram (4gb is recommend by more couldn't hurt). since the fusion drive works at a block level, my windows OS and vs should parts of the VM file should get moved to the SSD as I will be using it a lot. my main goal is max performance. i will be working on metro apps (not windows phone apps). any recommendation on which is better? parallels or vmware? stability and performance is key. i don't need any fancy UI integration and i won't run any games. happy to run windows in fullscreen mode.
    2) create a 200gb partition and run bootcamp. cleary more stable but will it be faster than above because i am assuming the ssd caching will not working here?
per mircorosft website they give instructions for both options above, but i am looking for realworld experience in what will get be most stability in terms of network IO (working on UPNP apps so need stable network bridging) and then performance is key.
HDD size is not a big deal for me as most of my media lives in my synology NAS.

virtual machine will be more stable
bootcamp will be faster but the only place you will notice is if you play new 3d games on diwndows

  • Is there a way to install Windows (with programs) on an external drive and run it from the Pro?

I have a 1TB Seagate Goflex that I am using to backup the Mac, but I want to partition it and run Windows and Windows Apps from it, rather than risk my HDD.  Does anyone have any experience doing that or have any ideas on how it might be done?  I am willing to risk the Seagate external drive, but not the laptop.

    Bob,
you could put a virtualizer such as VirtualBox or Parallels Desktop on the external drive, and install Windows and Windows apps in the virtualizer.

  • What is the best way to install windows 8 on MacBookPro Mtn Lion(VM, boot camp...) to maximize hardware & features

Has anyone installed Windows 8 on MacBook Pro? Is it best to use Boot Camp or virtual software in order to maximize the Mac trackpad usage in Windows 8 (for a better "touch screen type" experience)? Will virtual software suck the power out of the MacBook if I need to use it for intense picture image editing and because of this should I stick to boot Camp even if it does not allow me to use the multi uses of the trackpad?

Apple's bootcamp doesn't support Windows 8 at this time only Windows 7
You can run Win 8 (or almost anything really) in a virtual machine, free Virtualbox

  • Quickest way to install Windows Updates SCCM

    Hi All,
We are going to start to patch our servers using SCCM I have created software update groups for Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 which contains all important and critical updates for the server up until DEC 2014.However I have a problem some servers that require
a manual reboot so I advertise my updates like the below:
    Type of deployment : Required
installation deadline : As soon as possible
    Suppress system restarts : Servers
The problem is that after the reboot I check SCCM and the client is compliant the I then go to work the next day check the SCCM console and the client shows as in progress requires reboot because it has installed more updates.
I know the problem is that some updates aren't required until a pre-req is install however is there a way to ensure that the client automatically checks SCCM server for updates every 15 minute so that I can confirm that all updates are installed.
Also from the SCCM client logs how can I confirm that there is no software updates left to install on the machine if I run the software scan cycle manually
    Thanks

    Hi,
What is the Client Setting, Software Updates, Scan cycle configured to? how often do the machines scan for updates? There is one value you can adjust if you haven't default is every 7 days, changing it to once a day is a good start, chaning it to more often
temporarily could also be an option.
You could check the WUAUhandler.log file but it is really hard to sort out.
