Kt6V-lsr vs kt6DELTA-lsr

I just had a tech support tell me that the kt6V-lsr was the better of these 2 boards..
Are they just trying to pull wool over my eyes because thats what they sent me?
2nd
they also sent me the AMD XP2600+ "thorton" chip
instead of the AMD XP 2500+ "Barton" chip
should I be pissed about this also?

Hm, for once I disagree a little with stevehp. 2600 has a Thoroughbred B core, while 2500 has of course a Barton core, bigger die etc. 2600 was introduced by AMD to sort of gain a little time before introducing the newer Barton. The part about the cache is correct.
Though a little dated information, I suggest you go see:
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20020610/thoroughbred-04.html
Checking around a little, everywhere they prefer Barton.

  • KT6DELTA-LSR + ATHLON XP2600+ FSB333 crash/restart problem solved!

    Hello!
I've recently purchased the KT6DELTA-LSR motherboard and an XP 2600+ FSB333.
But my happyness was short because I encountered a lot of crashings and reboots.
I have seen in this forum that I wasn't the only whit this kind of problems... .
I noticed that when I change the FSB from 166 to 133 the system runs stable with no problem at all but my CPU is recognized as 2000+ .
I've discovered the cause so for those who still have problems try this:
CHANGE the VCore from Default ( 1.65V ) to 1.7V (not to 1.675 because is not enough). AND put the FSB to 168 MHz. I think is OK with FSB 166 but who knows...
With this setting my sistem runs fine but the temperature rised with about 3 degrees...
If you leave the VCore default PCAlert IV shows that VCore is between 1.61-1.63V
if you set the VCore to 1.675 then the value shown is 1.63-1.65
when setting to 1.7V finally the VCore is 1.65-1.7
I think that because the CPU has not enough Voltage it fails and the sistem crashes or reboots.
Excuse my english... it's not my native language.....
    Good luck!

    My power supply :
    Name: Powerlink 400W
    +3.3V --- 25A
    +5V   --- 32A
    -5V    --- 0.3A
    +12V  --- 18A
    -12V --- 0.8A
    Total Power On 3,3V&5V=160W
Do you think that there is another cause for my crashes/reboots?
I tried another memory module PC3200 but the problems remain.
The only solution I found is VCore=1.7V

  • Boot problems KT6Delta lsr

    Hi there.
I have a boot problem with my kt6 delta lsr.
I have just installed it, the former MB was a biostar with a via chipset kt133/686a
at first It couldn´t  start up, but it helped when I flashed the BIOS. (the MB has been used by another person for some months) then it want me to choose F1 to acces the setup or F2 to load default settings. If i choose F2 the MB beeps once at stops. If in setup everything is fine, it have deteced all my devices. Then I use save and exit but it does the same. If I boot from CD rom with my XP CD it boots fine. I tried to "repair" my installation, it works fine until the it reboots and want to start the HD for finishing the repairing it just stops.
would it help if I erase and format the HD and install windows again?

    Did it ever boot normally?
Until today, it had never boot abnormally.
Did you install any new software or memory just
    before this started happening?
I installed some fonts last night... no new software immediately preceding this, however. Norton anti-virus, Microsoft Office, and a nightly WebKit build last week, but I've used it without problems since then.
Have you launched Disk Utility from your install disk
(located in the file menu) and Repaired Disk and
    Repaired Permissions?
Not yet -- I was still in the denial / hopefull thinking phase of repair. Will do that and post back here either way. Thanks.

  • KT6Delta-LSR+athlonxp2700, bios display it´s a 2400

    KT6 Delta-LSR
    athlon xp 2700
    bios don´t  display its a 2700
I set the fsb at 100
the ratio in 15 and says i have a xp 1500
I set the fsb at 100
the ratio in auto and says i have a xp 2100
I set the fsb at 133
the ratio in 9 and says i have a athlon 2270mhz

An Athlon XP 2700+ is a DDR333 cpu so you need to first set the ratio or multiplier to auto then set the front side bus to 166Mhz to see it's real speed. FSB @ 100Mhz is DDR200 FSB @ 133Mhz is DDR266 catch my drift?

  • Display freezing problems!! Please help

Im new to this forum and to MSI products but not to building machines.  I am having the worst luck with my MSI KT6Delta LSR and MSI G4Ti4600-VT2D8X 128 meg active cooled Video card.  I have 256megs of crucial PC2100 with a 20g Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm drive.  The processor is a 2700 cooled by the cooler master cpu blower.  Heat does not seem to be an issue on the card or processor.
I have reloaded XP pro with sp1 and all patches on the machine twice.  The load goes smooth but then it starts acting stupid after a while.  The  display will freeze somewhat.  I have never seen anything like this before.  I can hit ctrl alt del but only get the splash screen.  I cant even close this window.
I loaded Unreal tourn 2003 and have the vid settings to 800x600 32bit.  This card should tear this game up at those settings but lags at times.
I have updated drivers for the Vid that I found on their site.  I was thinking of trying to flash the bios on the board but dont want an instable system when flashing.
I have sent support requests to MSI but I dont get much of a response back from them.  They have told me to try a different vid card and system memory.
Tonight I plan on bumping my FSB down to 133 to sync with the mem bus of 266.  If this does not work I am going to try running pc2700 ram tomorrow night.  Does this sound like a bus bottleneck problem?
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Sorry so long winded and thanks in advance.

  • MPLS LDP and LSPs

Sorry about this, but have the MPLS and VPN Cisco press book and am just confused (in thoery) about one point.
Will setup a MPLS frame implementation for the first time this evening :)
    Here you go......
You have LSPs witch determined the entire MPLS path from ingress to egress correct?
You have an LDP which distributes labels between LSRs
Now, the way I understand it, is that the LDP creates the LSP for a particulat prefix again, correct?
    So,
The LSP (as I said, is the entire path from ingress to egress), is this entire LSP stored on all LSRs in the path of the MPLS network, or just on ingress and egress? Or is only one label stored on each LSR for a prefix?

The Label Switch Path (LSP) is the path from the edge LSR or ingress LSR to the egress LSR. Any router in the MPLS cloud can be used as either an ingress or egress LSR.
From each LSR's standpoint, the LSP consists only of a inbound input label/output label/output interface or an IP prefix/output label/output interface if it is the case of an edge LSR.
    Hope this helps,

  • MPLS TE tunnels doesn't come up after BGP arrived at the scene

    Hi folks,
I was running a little lab where I had an mpls te tunnel running fine from one router located at the border of the network to the other, I was using ISIS as the IGP. Everything was fine untill I added BGP to the lab and suddenly the tunnel turn down. I want to know if I got to add an additional configuration to my PE routers to succesfully bring up my tunnel like before. My tunnel's explicits path were LSR-PE2 and LSR PE1. My topology looks like this.
                                     LSR
             eBGP         /               \          eBGP
    ASx ------------ PE1 ----------------- PE2--------------ASy
                                   iBGP
    Thanks,
    Francis.

Here I leave the configurations and I correct myself about the network topology, I added a pic about the exact topology too. The tunnel is built PE1-R1-R3.

  • PEOPLESOFT Time & Labor TO PRIMAVERA P6 INTEGRATION

Recently came across an Oracle data sheet on PEOPLESOFT PROJECTS (ESA) TO PRIMAVERA P6 INTEGRATION, In this data sheet I found the following information:
"Primavera P6 timesheet data can also flow into PeopleSoft Time & Labor via the existing integration between PeopleSoft Expenses time entry and PeopleSoft Time & Labor"
Does anyone have any information on PeopleSoft Time and Labor and Primavera P6 timesheet data integration as mentioned above and the steps to be performed for this integration to get working?

    Hi,
I think you are referring to this data sheet
    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/peoplesoft-enterprise/psft-p6-integration-ds-334749.pdf
    The datasheet says:
By integrating timesheets from Primavera P6 to either PeopleSoft Project Costing or PeopleSoft Expenses time entry, you can minimize duplicate keying of data and the risk of inaccuracies. Primavera P6 timesheet data can also flow into PeopleSoft Time & Labor via the existing integration between PeopleSoft Expenses time entry and PeopleSoft Time & Labor.

  • Upgrade to KT6V-LSR gone wrong, system freezes and BSOD's

    Hi guys!
I just recently bought a KT6V-LSR to replace and Asrock K7S41GX motherboard. After putting all together (specs on signature) installed windows from scratch in a new partition on the master drive. Installed VIA 4 in 1, DirectX 9.0c, Catalyst 5.03, Realtek sound driver, LAN driver, USB patch, all of them were the latest versions available from the corresponding site,  everything while the pc was not connected to the internet.. When I installed the Catalyst driver, rebooted the computer and it started testing the computer to find the "most stable settings" according to the installation said. The screen got all srambled but it seemed to bel going on, on the installation process it said that it'll take about 1 minute, waited about 5 an then restarted (it said that the test might cause the system not to respond anymore and that if it happened, restart it), it started all right. Then I installed NAV 2005. Installed acrobat reader. Then I tried to install Office 2003 and the system froze when it was about 15% of the copying files process. Restarted it and then the system crashed again the same way. If I leave the system running idle, it crashes randomly. It didn't show up with a BSOD at the beginning but now it shows
    kernel_stack_inpage_error
    0x00000077 (0xc000000E,0xc000000E,0xc00000000, 0x01b42000)
    and another one
    kernel_stack_inpage_error
    0x0000007A (0xE14F862c,0xc000000E,0xcBF97B704, 0x02c23860)
    (once each)
I'm thinking (from what I have read here) it might be the power supply, but since here in costa rica it's almost imposible to find a decent 400W PSU and I won't have the 100 bucks it costs for a couple of weeks more, is there anything I should try?
Temps on the system are 45-49 idle, 53-55 load. Applied thermal grease to the HS&F before installed it.
the 12+ (I've read is very important since the KT6V is very hungry on this rail) is showing up about 12 on the core center, but I've read that is not really representative...
Haven't updated to BIOS version 2.0 yet...
I checked the memory, ran only 1 stick and then the other one, on both slots.
I'm open to any advice, for sure I'll replace the PSU but that's gonna take a couple of weeks and I wanted to check if there's something I could try in the mean time.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey , Ford Tech , can you give an explanation of what  the setup with  the CD drive and the master  harddrive on IDE 1 will  do .
I have the same PSU  nazgoth has .
I'm just interested in the affect  that  setup will have with the  power in the system  .
If you have noticed my posts its more of a house electricity thing with my setup , the harddrive not getting enough power , temporarily I hope .
Not really a voltage concern. But I guess it could if both drives are running at the same time. With IDE, one is limited to two drives in a chain, and these drives cannot work at the same time. In essence, they must "take turns".So by putting 1 HDD as primary master and cd as slave, you will get the full performance of your drive. Most peeps only run CD roms for program installs and or CD burning or copying anways.
As far as the cable, yes there are 80 wire flat cables that work just fine. The only reason to go to the round cables is to improve air-flow and or the length of the cable itself.
I am sure many people use it the old fashion way with no problems.I just experienced a performance issue when I had HDD's on the same chain. It was mainly because I load all my games on my D drive. It also kept defaulting it to PIO mode which is the slowest mode.Since swaping the drives around on the chain(IDE1=HDD-Operating system-primary master and CD burner as Primary slave)(IDE2=HDD-Storage/gaming-secondary master and my DVD rom as secondary slave)Both drives run in UMDA-MODE-5 set up that way with no more problems

  • I can't install Windows 98 on a KT6V-LSR

I used to be able to dual boot Win98 and 2K from different partitions on a single 80Gb hard drive. Needed the Win98 only because my old Matrox capture card has no drivers for the newer OS’s. When I changed my mobo to an MSI KT6V-LSR (Via KT600) I couldn’t get the Win98 partition to work (I didn’t have to wipe it through 2 earlier mobo changes. I guess it couldn’t stand the 3rd)
The previous setup was like this, all on a 1-1/2 year old 80gb Maxtor:
    Primary partition, 753 mb, FAT32, Windows 98
1st logical partition, 11gb, NTFS, Windows 2K Pro
2nd logical partition, 25gb, FAT32, for video files
3rd logical partition, 40gb, FAT32, for all my data, downloads, etc
I could get the standard Windows OS selection page upon boot. This time whenever I try to install Windows 98 I get the above “serious error” message right after the partition check by scandisk. It's not the installer's fault, it's been with me for a long time. Worked flawlessly before.
I am able to install Win2K on NTFS or FAT32. It is only when I try to install Win98 that I get slammed with this error. I can’t use my capture card and that’s where I earn a little.
The drive passes both the Maxtor diagnostic software (full system scan) and the Seatools generic test (full system scan).
There are no viruses detected (my software may be faulty, though).
PartitionMagic 7 fails to create the small partition I need for Win98, saying “cannot create partition, anti-virus software may be running” But I have disabled any virus settings in BIOS and I am using PartitionMagic from the boot diskettes.
Really stumped here. Can’t afford to buy a new drive right now just so to transfer my files and wipe the current drive.
In summary, the drive allows me to install Win2K on either NTFS or FAT32. But it will not allow me to install Win 98, whether on a Primary partition or the first logical partition (i.e. after Win2K has already been installed)
I have since been able to install Win98. But I had to connect the Drive to a Promise Ultra66 IDE controller.
Question is, is the new hardware really incompatible with the old OS?
THEN...  On two consecutive nights, my registry in Windows 2000 got corrupted (hive corruption). And I have had to reformat and reinstall both times. I am worried now that the mobo I got may have serious faults.
Hope you can give me quick feedback on this.

    Hello,
You should be able to use windows 98 with this motherboard.
    Can you try this.
Format the drive with only 1 partition (80GB FAT32)
    Use maxblast to do this.
Remove the Ultra ATA66 PCI controller.
    Remove the sound card.
Plug the hard drive in IDE cable 1 (set it to master too)
Plug your CD drive to IDE cable 2, set it to master.
    Reset your CMOS
Now when you power up, enter the BIOS
    go to Frequency/voltage control
Set the CPU to 166Mhz FSB (it should be running at 1.667Ghz)
    CPU Ratio = Auto
go to advanced chipset configuration >DRAM settings
    Set the memory to 333Mhz(166Mhz)
    Go to Standard CMOS setup.
    Press on your Hard drive
    Set the mode to LBA
Also change your boot order to
    Floppy
    CD ROM
    Your hard drive
    Go to integrated peripherals
    Disable the onboard sound
    Now save and exit.
Boot from the windows 98 CD
    See what happens.

  • Kt6v-LSR 3200 Barton Problem

Looking for a little info, I've got a Kt6v-lsr mobo running XP 3200 Barton Core clock @ 200mhzx11. For some reason the board is showing it as a duron processor running @ approx 2209 MHz. L1 & L2 cache is 64 & 128 respectively which is all wrong for a 3200 Barton. FYI, my bios is 2.0 which I believe is the most current.
Either I have a messed up CPU or some setting wrong in the bios. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

as for the 3200+ 333FSB, you may have to take my word for it, as it was limited, AMD no longer have any info on their website
even some google searches don't bring much up now
going from memory, the company i used to work for, we used a lot of these MSI boards that i can't find on MSI's site any more. i know it didn't have a model name printed on the mobo, and even the manual just called it the MS-6729, but i have seen similar looking boards referred to as "K7N2-V" and "K7N2-IL".
now as far as i can remember, they were a green PCB, nforce2 chipset with integrated Geforce4 MX graphics, with just the basics: USB, FireWire, 3 DDR slots for Dual Channel. it supported a max CPU of 333mhz, but i do remember at a later point they started coming with a "Ultra400" sticker on southbridge chipset - or i might be getting confused with the K7N2 Delta boards we then started using
i remember we had to do a BIOS flash when we started using 3200+ on the MS-6729, otherwise the CPU was recognised as a 3100+. my memory is fading now (ok, it was 2 and a half years ago!!) but i'm sure the first 3200s we had were 333FSB, and then they became 400FSB, which was why we started using K7N2 Delta instead.
has this jogged anyone else's memory? did the MS-6729 green nforce2 mobo really exist, or is it all a cruel figment of my imagination? and was there ever really a 333FSB Barton 3200+??
maybe the heat is getting to me

  • HD Samsung SP2504C SATA II vs MSI KT6V-LSR: How to install?

    Hi everybody,
Ok, i will try to explain the problem with my bad english, so please dont laugh!
I have two modeboards, the MSI KT6V-LSR and ASUS A8N-SLI SE, recently i acquired the HD Samsung SP2504C SATA II for the ASUS, and it works perfectly. So i needed to install this HD SATA II in the KT6V-LSR and i followed some proceedings first:
*The HD already had the XP SP2 installed using the ASUS one
1_i placed the jumper and the HD changed to 150
2_i pluged the data cable in the right conector and the power cable (i tryed in both channels, but only in one the hd is reconized)
3_removed the ide pata 40gb (samsung too)
    4_Enabled ide sata in bios
5_configured to boot using hd sata
The system rebooted always just after the bios scrreenies. Strange, the HD PATA worked, came from the asus too! So i decided to format this HD sata. Like always i followed this steps:
    * My XP cd dont have service packs and boot system
1_i used a floppy with WINME boot + smartdrive
2_delete partition, create and set active
    *3_format c:
    4_f:cd i386
    5_f:i386\winnt
*Other strange thing, the formatting time just take a few seconds unlike the several minutes that normaly takes.
I started to install the XP anyway, and after the copy of files from cd to hd, during the first boot appears a blue screen, and the messages are relationed to the new HD, so the installation stop. I tryed several times but the same thing happened.
The HD sata is reconized in the windows, shows patitions, i transfered 13gb from it to the hd PATA, but i had to boot using the PATA one. I want to use this HD SATA like master, bootable, not like slave.
How to install it, how to format it properly?
I hope that my confusing explainations are sufficient to you understand the problem.
    Some help please!
    And thank you very much
    MSI KT6V-LSR bios V1.9 08-27-04

    HD 40GB SAMSUNG
HD 250GB SATA II (that dont works in this motherboard!)

This being really difficult to explain the problem with my so bad English. I go to try to use a translator online, ok?
I use the floppy of boot of the WIN ME, is through it that I obtain to define the partitions, to format hd, and to install the XP. I always made this and always it functioned, also with this HD SATA II samsung 250GB, but only using motherboard ASUS A8N-SLI IF. But when I go to make these procedures using the KT6V-LSR, I do not obtain to format hd right and I do not obtain to install the XP. Then the problem happens before installing the XP, during the formatting. So i want to use only de hd sata, not the HD PATA.
Another thing, I read in one fórum of my country that the KTV6-LSR can damage and even though to “kill” the hd sata. This is really?

  • KT6V-LSR boot problem

I encounter a strange problem(which I think is because of main board):
         - Sometimes when I press the power on button(to power on the system),then the system don't really starts, only the HardDisk(red) LED is ON, the PowerOn(green) LED is OFF. The monitor remains black, with a LED blinking.
         - While the system is in state described before, if i press the Reset Button, then: the PowerOn(green) LED turns ON too,the monitor receives signal(it's LED stops blinking, by remanining ON), and the system starts OK(everything is ok).
    What can be the problem?

    Hello,
Did you build this PC or did someone else build it?
Open the PC, remove the case side panel and check the JP1/case connectors.
Check if the power switch, reset switch, hdd LED are Power LED are plugged in the right place.
The best way to do this is to remove all the case connectors and start again, plug 1 at a time and see if it works better.
Start with the front case power switch first, plug it in and see if the PC starts when you press it.
Make sure the PC is off when you do this, (turn on when you are ready to test).
