I don't know German that well, perhaps someone else does. Found this, and I think he used a floppy disk  :

Uh, coincidentally, I'm German (hence the slow part further up!). I found that piece of information a few hours ago too tho. I've tried the same thing of course (got the loop in SFI too, as explained.. then resetted because there was no other option left). Only difference, I then tried to flash from DVDRW and Ramdisk instead of a floppy disk, because .. well, I don't own a floppy disk drive! No luck tho.
I guess I'll try contacting MSI, as Bosskiller suggested.. thank you for your assistance.

    Hello
Tecra A3 is pretty new unit and it will be interesting to know why you want to make BIOS update. Is there any problem with it?
Which BIOS update doesnt run, windows or traditional one? If you have no serious problem, dont do it at all.
The issue with your multidrive is a little bit confused for me. Which software you should install?

    > Why they announce me by mail to make update bios, if it's not necessary
Who knows what improvements the new BIOS supports from my knowledge Toshiba doesnt publish any details about the BIOS improvements
But again; its your choice you can update or not but you know that its risky so why to update it if nothing is wrong? Only to have a newest version?
Well buddy Ive got a 7 years old notebook and I have never updated the BIOS.
I know that a newer version is available but my notebook runs great and Ive got no troubles so why to do this? My opinion is; never change a running system. And I think its a great advice because since long time it has been working properly.

  • K9AG Neo2 bios update causes boot error

With Liveupdate5, I dl/d the file ms-7368 and installed it thru windows. Everything completed successfully and I rebooted.
"Disk read error" Press cntrl alt del. It will do this endlessly... unless I sits overnight. Boots up fine in the morning. But, if for any reason I need to reboot, I get caught in the endless loop again.
Would really like to rollback the bios, but have been unable to find one that works.

That is not a BIOS error but more like a broken harddisk.
You know a harddisk is cold in the morning, as such it can work fine until it heats.
As such it makes good sense to me it works in the morning but won't if it's heated.
Have seen this before, broken harddisk that boots fine when put in the fridge but won't after it's room temp.

  • Equium A210-1AS - After BIOS update it becomes hot

Hey, wondering if anyone can help here ...
Currently have a Toshiba Equium A210-1AS with BIOS version 1.80 ver 1.00PARTTBL 4/8/2008.
Since the BIOS was updated some time ago to this version 1.80 the computer has become hot very quickly and therefore performance of the laptop has decreased.
I looked on the Toshiba support site and the only version upgrade to 2.00 was not compatible with this notebook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The short model number is PSAFJE
    Thankyou

    Hi
I have checked the Toshiba website and I didnt see any BIOS update for the Equium A210 PSAFJE. That means a BIOS update was never released for this notebook normally.
For me it sounds like that you have updated the BIOS with a version for another Equium A210. So you should go to an authorized service provider. The technicians can install the right BIOS version for you (downgrade).
    Bye

  • Equium L40 (PSL49E) - Is the BIOS update compatible?

    Simple question:
I have a Equium L40 PSL49E laptop with Vista. There is a BIOS update available - but only for models with Modelnumber PSL48x, PSL49x, PSL4Bx or PSL4Cx.
So, my question is: Does that include my model?
    Is PSL49E = PSL49x?
It would also be a bonus if someone could explain, which function exactly these updates have? And if there is anything I should be aware of in that context?

Yes, the update is compatible with your notebook. I have also checked the Toshiba website for the PSL49E and I can see this BIOS update.
PSL49x means that this update is compatible with all models that start with PSL49

    BIOS update
Hello, after I updated the BIOS to version F.02 (sp50015.exe), I got this dreadful message. The system boots only with the wifi card removed. The card is a Broadcom 43224AG. It came pre-installed and worked fine before the BIOS update. The drivers for this card are not listed in the drivers page on the HP website. I am extremely frustrated since this was a factory installed component. For the record there is no previous BIOS version on the website in order to downgrade. I am extremely frustrated. Please help.

Product numbers are usually in the format of ab123cd#efg.  AIC35AA#ABU didn't return any specific product for me.  What is the exact model name?  If you can get into Windows, Fn + Esc may provide something more specific.
What I am trying to do is find the right BIOS for this unit to roll back the BIOS so that we can isolate it exclusively to the BIOS update and at least get it back to functional while looking further into this.
If you look at the wifi card, what is the part number on it?

  • Uncertain about bios update dv6 1143TX

Hello, I was wondering wether or not I needed to update my laptops Bios. I have not updated the bios since I bought it and it does say there is an update available. I am skeptical on wether or not It is worth updating, as I have seen alot of other users encounter some serious problems from running such an update. My laptop model no. is dv6-1143TX and my Bios version is F.12Do I need to update it, what problems will/can the update incur, what happens if I don't update, and If I need to update which update do I need?  Any help, suggestions and information is welcome. ~Josh

Hi Erico. Wanted to update you on my 2 issues about the Bios Update and attempting to get my HP dv6-1355dx from Window 7 to Window 7 SP1. First of all thank you again for all your advice and steps to get the laptop bios upgraded to F.46. It worked fine and I am now at this latest bios level. But still at Window 7 only and the system is running great. Unfortunately, doing the bios update, as well as all your other recommended steps did NOT help me to get Window 7 SP1 (KB976932) upgraded on my laptop. Bummer! I've been trying for 4 months now and thought the Bios upgrade would do it. So did Microsoft folks.  I run HP Support Assistant now and it comes up clean that I don't need any driver updates, etc. and the bios is up to date. But, still with multiple automatic Win 7 SP1 updating and trying with the downloaded file version, it just won't update to Win 7 SP1. Same error everytime (error code 8024200d). Microsoft and many folks in the communities have a long list of things to do when one gets this error. Mostly it talks about getting the lastest drivers first before installing Window 7 SP1. Tried just about them all and still no success. I've just about given up on trying to upgrade my laptop to Window 7 SP1 (myself). So, I've decided to wait for Window 10 (for free) to be available. I can't reserved a Win 10 version since I am not at Window 7 SP1 nor do I get the icon to reserve a version in my tray.  So, I contacted and registered with HP SmartFriend technical support in the hopes that they can (with their $29.99 upgrade to Win 10 offer) get me upgraded to Window 7 SP1 or Window 8.1 and then get me a version of Window 10 and upgrade me. They indicated they can do this for me via remotely accessing my laptop. It's a plan and one which I hope the HP SmartFriend guys will successfully complete for me. Anyway, I do want to thank you again so much for you original suggestions and for helping me with my Bios updating. Thanks so much for helping me with this and I appreciate your time and responses. Wish me luck with my alternate plan to just get me to Window 10 (instead of that Window 7 SP1 which I could never do myself). Thanks buddy.Frank

  • P7N2 Diamond Buggy bios, 790i chipset failure corrupt data, bios update msi?

Well I run a business that does photography for major concerts in Sydney.  I upgraded my multi display computer to increase the amount of lcd's I could have going.  That's when this all started.
    Specs.
    1500watt thermaltake toughpower
    q9550 Intel quad core
2gig kit of corsair 2000MHz memory ( rated at 9-9-9-24 at 1.9 volts) TW3X2G2000C9DFNV matched pair
    6 disk sata 2 raid 10
    Asus striker 2 extreme.
2 x 9800gx2  and 2x 9600gt single slot cards.  ( for a total of 8 LCD div ports without having to use a quadro card setup)
The asus undervolts allot of things off the get go causing the system to become as stable as a plate of jelly.  Flashing the bios fixed nothing and 30 minutes later the computer would not post at all.  So after owning it 1 day it went back.  After researching hard I discovered about 50% can't get there striker 2 extreme working at all unless adjusting all voltages and underclocking it, allot of people are on there 3 or 4th board.
So I then bought a evega version which was dead on arrival.  According to the supplier in Sydney andatech about 50% of these motherboard are DOA.  Seems to crazy to be true.
So I went with the MSI P7N2 Diamond.  SERIAL NUMBER 601-7523-010B0805142868
I am very happy with the design of this board but it has massive problems as well.  My memory will not post in duel channel unless its on stock 1333MHz.  I have to manually put in the vdimm voltages and timings of course.  This too is a problem as CPU-Z says they are allot higher then I manually set.
So if i want to get the 2000MHz of my memory It has to be placed in dimm slot 1 and 2 in single channel mode.   It wont work in duel channel configurations(Dimm slot 1 and 3, or 2 and 4) or in single channel mode dimm slot 3 and 4.
Moving on!   The computer at least is usuable. even though the bios is extremely buggy.  But it sure has done better then it competitor's.
The other problem lies with the nvidia 790i chipset
    http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2166
Above is link to nvidia admitting to the problem. Below another source just one of thousands, all you have to do to find them is type in the words nvidia data corruption into google.
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=23047
Here are problems tied in with the 790i chipset
    1. windows/hdd corruption/ system instability
    2. FSB holes
    3. HDD corruption/destruction
    4. real voltages are notably lower than what is set in bios (mostly applies to nvidia reference boards)
The above was taken out of the following site
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=183119
To be honest it is just one of hundreds and hundreds having these major issues and its to easy to find people having the same problem.  Bios update has been released for xfx asus and other 790i reference boards will MSI release one too?   Asus has released about 6 bios updates so far at least.  I know this is a new board I do not require six bios updates just one that makes the motherboard work the way it is meant too
This puts me in a hard position.  If i wait to see if a bios will fix it I may not be able to return the motherboard.  The bios update may not fix the issue at all anyhow.  I am really sick of returning these things and would love to get one that works.  I feel if I have to do it again I will not buy another motherboard and will seek alternate options as I am that tired of rebuilding this computer and struggling to make it work the way its capabilities are being advertised as.
Right now my computer is majorly underclocked just so my data integrity remains in tact.  I am on my 5Th rebuild of windows and vista with this motherboard Ive managed to keep it stable at fsb 333x8.5 1333MHz and memory at 1000MHz. with all settings manually set.
This computer has cost around 6 grand and is a major business investment for me.  Ive already had to cancel a major penrith gig because I can't guarantee my gear works, and if it does not stable.  I could of spent 1/4 that amount and achieved similar performance.

Quote from: MarkJohnson on 10-July-08, 00:43:11
One issue that may be hindering you is the amount of power being supplied by your motherboard to your PCIe card.  The motherboard allows for 75W to be used by the PCIe for graphics cards, and with that many you may be depleting your system of power.  This was an issue for some DFI boards a while back and now DFI adds extra power connectors to their motherboards at both of the main graphic PCIe connectors.  Not sure if this board supports that option.  but you definitely have way more than enough power to run your system without your PSU breaking a sweat.
If you need a quad-DVI board, some of the ATI 3870x2 cards have quad-DVI ports, usually the OC editions.  not sure if MSI makes one yet.  but you will lose SLI and crossfire won't work on that board.  but they should work as 2 separate cards for 8 DVI ports.  Also, ATI supports multi-monitor suport in crossfire mode as SLI doesn't or didn't last I checked.

as for waiting for a BIOS update, I'd definitely not wait past the deadline if it won't do exactly what you NEED.  I find sometimes a BIOS fix never comes or there may be a bad design and a there's no possible way to fix things in a BIOS update.
    Good luck
    -=Mark=-
Ironic because I was discussing this speculation with a mate of mine.  I Think it is highly likely, I also think it is a 790i chipset flaw / or a problem occuring with 3 gx2 initial pcie power drain.  We where disussing the exact thing.
We also discuss alot of ATI options, hell they are the new nvidia as far as performance is concerned.  There cpu's still suck sorry amd.
Hell you remind me alot of this mate of mine o0*  wierd.
Anyway the only thing stopping me from going ati considering pending improvements to crossfire, and with pciex16 on second pcie ati crossfireboard now fairly standard removing bottlenecks, Is the fact I am not aware of a ati version of NVIEW
I know there is a old replica of NVIEW that may have been part of its devolpment process.
    http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/
Notice is similiarities.  Does it work with ATI, is it expried software.  I am yet to find out.
Also I belive you are right.  Having 8 pin power plugged into the mobo and it still dying like that leads me to belive no bios update can ever fix such a thing.
Its a shaky contraversal market atm.

  • Qosmio X500-11U- Question about new BIOS update

    Hi to everyone
I need to clarify a matter, the BIOS update that was released December 2010 was the 2.90 now a new release march 2011 is named 1.40! Is this an upgrade a downgrade or a joke? Should I proceed with the newest 1.40 or stick with the old 2.90?
I forgot to mention that I own a X500-11U and thanks in advance

    Hi nick73,
On Toshiba European driver download page there are two different versions available:
    BIOS-Update 1.40-WIN for X500 PQX34E models
    BIOS-Update 2.90-WIN for X500 PQX33E models
Your model the X500-11U belongs to PQX33E series and that means only BIOS Update 2.90 is compatible and 1.40 would be the wrong version.
So its not a joke and before you search for BIOS update next time, also use the correct part number ;)

  • N500 Bios Update Problem

Hi, I have just updated my N500 with the 1.03 version of the BIOS, and right after, the computer just won't start, it goes as far as the start display of windows XP and then a bulk memory error makes it re-start. What can I do, or how do I come back to the original BIOS.
    Thanks
---Never mind, it was just a missconfiguration of BIOS----
Message Edited by im38066 on 01-15-2009 05:16 PM

Thanks. I will look into Winplash for installing the BIOS update under DOS.
Meanwhile, I have a related question:
Has anybody installed successfully Lenovo's latest BIOS update version 1.07 for the N500 under Win XP ?
The little that its documentation says about ver 1.07 is that "...it corrects for "some problems" and expands functionality..."
I suppose that if they already are at version 1.07 only five months after 1.03 came out, it may well be that one of "the problems" was that earlier versions were indeed misconfiguring the BIOS and causing users to return their N500's for refunds or exchanges. LOL, this could be why I could buy mine 6 weeks ago from the factory refurbished and already equipped with BIOS ver 1.03.

  • Kt8 neo2 6702 200gb hard disk problem booting/recognising bios v9.3

    Hi,
just bought a new msi kt8 neo2 series m/b. MS-6702 E  It has 1gb ddr 3200 ram 400w generic psu amd64 3500+ cpu sblaster audigy + generic net card + xpertvision 6800gs 512mb video card. The proble is the hard drive, I think? its a samsung 200gb that was working fine in my last puter untill i put it into my new one. it has xp on the 1st partition and kubuntu on the second with grub as the boot loader. everthing was hunkey dorey in the last system, but wheni try and boot grub gives me a error 17 and with a bit more fiddling tells me it cant mount the selected partition because the bios does not recognise that many cylinders or sectors, cant remember exactly. Have tried a different boot loader including lilo without success. The disk is recognised in the bios as a 33.2 or 32.3 gb drive? i have flashed to v9.3 successfully, after accidently hosing the previous board with a bad flash from my stupidity  anyhow has anyone else come across a problem like this? i had a look in the stickies and searched a bit but couldnt find anything. If i boot a linux live cd it can see the drive fine at 200gb and access all my old data without a problem. any help would be greatly appriciated as im about to pull out the last of my hair  am i missing a setting in the bios? to enable lba 48bit addressing or sumthing? I have flashed older computers and then the bios recognised big drives but this one refuses to? does it not support them? heeeeeellllppp!!!
    John

Thanx for your resonses. I have tried reinstalling Kubuntu and grub with the same result. but even if i get rid of grub, the bios is still seeing my 200gb hard drive as a 33.8gb one? wherever it pulled that number out of, who knows.  so if i can boot into a console the "fixmbr" command will do what? remove grub and replace it with what? I have tried installing other boot loaders (lilo and gag) but with the same problem they all have a hissy at this 33.8gb drive thats all  up
    Kind Regards,
    John
