KT880 DELTA (SOCKET A) MEM KING 512 400MHZ, EXTREMELY UNSTABLE

HELLO THAT SO, I FINISH BUYING NEW PIECES PROCESSOR SEMPRON 2800+ And TWO KINGSTON MEMORIES OF 512 OF 400MHZ, The PROBLEM ARE IN WHICH SEGUN The SPECIFICATIONS OF The MSI, The MOTHERBOARD KT880 DELTA WORKING PERFECTLY  IF The PROCESSOR HAS A FSB OF 300 And The MEMORY A FSB OF 400.
BUT APPARENTLY IT IS A GREAT LIE, IT FORMS PC ASI And HE IS EXTREMELY UNSTABLE[/color][/b],  IN The SAME INSTALLATION IT SENT The BLUE SCREEN OF ERROR, And WHEN I COULD INSTALL IT With great difficulty, WINDOWS REINCIABA IN CERTAIN SHORT WHILES. UPDATE The BIOS To COMPLETES IT And The ERROR WAS EQUAL. ASI THAT I HAD TO PITIFULLY CHANGE The FSB OF The MEMORY To 333.
However, WHEN IT WAS To 400 And IT MANAGED TO WORK, WAOOO WAS FAST MAS, IT WANTED THAT SOMEBODY HELPED ME WITH SOMETHING, Or THAT The PEOPLE OF The MSI REVIEWED THAT ERROR. I HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT The FIRST BIOS OF THIS SINGLE MOTHERBOARD SUPPORTED ATHLON XP And SOON THEY MODIFIED IT FOR The SEMPRON, BUT DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE PROVEN WITH The MEMORIES, TOO MUCH INSTABILITY, And I  QUERIA TO TAKE The COMPUTER to the MAX, HURTS, PLEASE CORRIGAN THAT ERROR Or SOMEBODY HELP ME
I AM PANAMENIAN AND MY ENGLISH IS BAD, JEJE. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hola !
You have to tell us complete PC specs includding P.Su. brand and AMPS to 3.3, 5 and 12v. rails so we can help you better.- Right now I can say, Semprons FSB is 333, no 300, so, if you set it by hand in Bios, you have to set it to that new value.  Also you must have in mind that is better to run memory at same speed as CPU. Instability comes when memory send more data than CPU can process in a certain time. BTW Those Kingston memory are value Ram ? You also could try "upping " memory voltage in 0,1-0,2 volts to see if system is more stable. Y trata de no escribir con mayúsculas.

  • KT880 Delta MB prolems

Ok i just got me a new board the Kt880 delta.
    Kt880 delta
kingston 400mhz 512 sticks in slots 1 and 3 like the books says
    xp 3000 + barton 400mhz
    power supply 350 w
    asylum 256 mb fx5600 8x agp
everything but the baord i have used on my old MB
to get the board to run i have to run the memory at 266 and the MB at 100fsb setting.
i tested the memory everything fine.
BUt if i set the Processor and/ or memory to 400mhz the system will get past posting.
but durning post i get 3 beeps
and the system will boot for a sec and than shuts down and when it shuts down the only thing left active is the ethernet lights on the mother board. I cant hit the power button to turn it back on. I have to shut the power supply off and let it set for a min. than i can turn it back on if i change it all back to 266 for memory and 100 fsb. So than i try inching the settings up for both memory or CPU. and it does the same thing as if i had gone straight to the 400 mhz for processor or memory.
Any suggestions would be great. I have made sure the cpu heatsink is on currectly always use fresh thermal paste the white stuff. THanks for you time guys need any more info just ask i will post as soon as i see you ask

I thought so, only wanted to make sure.
It is getting terribly late here, but there are three main alternatives, of which the first two implies a reseating of the processor:
    - What you thought was a processor running at 400 is not that, but a 333:
There is a stamp on the processor with the model number which you compare with what you want, or with info. you find on the Internet.
    - The seating is not optimal - too much grease, 180 degrees wrong, or something - which makes the processor overheat or impossible to recognize:
Reseat, by powering off, pulling power cable, take of the heat sink and fan and processor, clean both with strong alcohol and/or oil free nail polish remover, reapply thermal grease with a small drop on the very die (small rectangular) of the processor, put it and HSF back with caution of the socket 'heal', etc.
    - Your PSU isn't capable of powering the processor:
I doubt that is it, but please supply a list of max amperes for the 3,3 volt, 5 volt, and 12 volt lines.
Good luck, and a good night's sleep!

    Help please ..

You can test the memory by downloading this program,
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.40/memtest86+-1.40.floppy.zip
Creates a bootdisk which you must boot from. (Disk cannot be read in windows)
If the PSU cannot provide enough power then running the memory at a lower frequency can help, as 333Mhz uses less power than 400Mhz.
Test the memory at 333Mhz and see if you get any errors, maybe ask a friend to run the memory at 400Mhz with memtest.
If it does run at 400Mhz (200Mhz) without any errors then it is not faulty.
From this point forward you will always test any memory modules that you buy with memtest.
It is a very useful program.

  • KT880 Delta 3GB DDR @ 400 with XP3200 Barton @ 400 fsb

    Hi All,
First off...  I've been reading lots of usefull info posted on this site... But I dont have the time to absorb and fully assymilate everything.  (sorry for spelling)
I really do need some help / info / advice.....
    System : XP3200 Barton 400 fsb
: MSI KT880 Delta.  Latest Bios (NOT BETA BIOS)
               : 3 gb ddr 400 Ram
               : Terratec EWS88MT Sound Card (IRQ 3)
               : 120 bg Maxtor 8mg Cache
               : PSU 550 watts
I am trying to use 3gb ddr in single channel mode. however if a place 2 dimms in socket 1 & 3 it uses them fine in dual channel mode. Now i want to use all three, so add one in socket 2... EEEEEEK    @ boot check says read write error checing NVram.
Next I change DIMMS to other sockets, regardless of what DIMM's are in what socket if im using 3gb it says read write error.. only 2 gb works properly and fully recognises the memory.....
I bought the memory from the same place, same manufacturer, same clock speed, same spec and They all look identickle      now forgive me if im wrong but i also bought the MOBO as it said could use 3gb in single channel mode...
My Brain is about to meltdown  can anybody help me....  Please... Please....
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Guys I'm back again
Ok here goes...    Following all the suggestions above and lots of very intensive reading (As novice in Training ) I am pleased to advise that i am no futher along the road to sorting the memory error and also changing the IRQ in XP not that that wold help any.
I bought a good 600w PSU with 30A on the 3.3v rail and all other rails capable to run :
    3 x HDD
    1 x SoundCard
Thats is no more peripherals in there am trying to keep it as minimal as possibe.
Oh and I upgraded my GFX card to a Radion 9550 256m agpx8     thats very nice and seems to work well.
Right then has anyone anymore suggestions apart from throwing this board in the dogs kennel ??
    Best Regards
    Claire

  • KT880 DELTA mainboard and 2D speed decrease

    Hi there!!
I have upgraded mainboard from MSI K7T266 Pro2-A to MSI KT880 DELTA.
After that upgrade, speed of 2D Graphics radically decreased. I was trying to change values of AGP in BIOS (Speed, Fastwrite), but really nothing helped.
It is really annoying. The screen is scrolling, everything is drawing very slow. I am working with 2D graphics...
I have GeForce 2 MX400. (I am working in 2D, so i don't need to buy new card)
Is some possibility to fix this problem?
    Thank You a lot.

Didn't quite understand if you did the Repair install of Windows, with the following updates. Please have as little hard ware as possible when doing this. Add PCI-cards etc afterwards.
Here is where you can do a 5 minute check of your system:
    http://www.pcpitstop.com/
Another thing you should consider is the antivirusprogram. Try having it disabled. Also have a try-out while in SafeMode.
    Edit: As Dr Stu advices:
Codegen makes silent both 350 and 400 Watt PSUs. Please say a bit more on what PSU you got.
Edit: Went to PCPitstop myself for a check of the 2D results. Hrm, I don't want to brag, but... To explain, the first list of numbers is for the score, the second the resolution, the third how many tested PCs with that config, and finally the name and model of the graphics card.

    WHat now ?
I thing it can be only by the BIOS version . cause on board is old version 1.3 and on the same configurated computer (except DVD-RW) is 1.6 and everyting works.
    Any help ?

  • Kt880 delta bracket code

    Hi all,
    My config :
power : antec true power 550W
    mobo : kt880 delta
    ram : corsair 3200 cmx256a ( 2*256 MB )
cpu : amd xp barton 2600
cooler : artic cooling copper silent 2
case : nzt nemesis with 3 * 120 mm fan
To summarize my problem I was unable to make work a second hand amd xp 2600 barton on my mobo because I experimented stability problems.  Before that I had the same trouble with a msi k7n2 delta-l but one day she simply refused to boot again so I changed it against a new kt880.  After having tried all settings possible my conclusion was the problem was coming from the cpu so I decided to test the mobo with an xp 1700.  Then the problem occurred, the mobo refused to start and, even after replacing this cpu with the barton 2600 the problem stayed the same  .  The mobo boots but I can see nothing on the screen.  I tested with another graphic card but with no result.  I then tried to make a clear cmos after having removed the cable and the battery for 10 minutes but it didn't work.  All leds are red on the bracket.  I've read in the faq this should indicate a problem with the cpu but it was also said the code was not the same for all mobos so I ask you what this means and what I should do  ( I put back the xp 1700 in my old pc and he's still working fine ).
    Thanks all for your help

how long have you had the PSU? try another one in case it is faulty somehow
In fact the PSU is brand new so I cannot be sure it's working correctly but the HDD are running.  But ok if you are sure it could be a problem I will try with another one.
    Quote
what about the memory? what happens if you use one stick at a time?
Memory was checked with memtest and I got no errors after two passes.  When looking for the instability cause I tried with just one module then with the other one and for both on several slots but it didn't change anything.  In addition, the problem occurred just after I changed the cpu but it was running with this module in this position at this time.  I also can try but I don't think it's the reason of the problem.
    Quote
and what about removing the mobo from the case in case something is shorting the back of it?
Of course why not but it's a hard work ( I already installed third times my 2 mobos so I'm a bit tired of this manipulation    )

  • KT880 Delta HD problem

    Boot problem
    Is there a VIA bug?
The primary partition becomes hidden on WDC80G, WDC120G, WDC160, IBM GXP20.
I have tried with several HD's and primary partition only becomes hidden in KT880 and not on Intel based mb's.
    KT880 Delta Ver.1
    Bios: 1.7
    RAM 2st Acer 512MB
    VGA MSI FX5200

I remember confronting a similar issue to this one in a previous post.  I have found that WD HD's have issues with DMA modes.  Most of the time it was only limited to their 40gb and below, once you set it to UDMA then it would crash with boot volume errors on windows XP.  It would seem that if it's going hidden only when you set the DMA mode to auto that Western Digital still haven't sorted out all their DMA issues with their HD's on these boards.  Personally I would suggest to steer clear of any kind of dynamic DMA selections with the WD HD's until they sort out their game.

  • KT880 Delta and Amd Athlon XP Mobile

Does KT880 Delta will work with Athlon XP Mobile? PowerNow! features will work?
    (AMI bios)

ordinary desktop boards won't support changing multiplier on the fly. only laptop mobos do this. mobile athlons XPs are only popular with overclockers, because of the unlocked multiplier in BIOS. not all mobos support Mobile Athlons though, some modifications may need to be done
however, the Athlon64 cpu's and mobos have "Cool n Quiet" technology, which follows the laptop PowerNow! feature, so when cpu is not heavily worked, the clock speed drops to 800mhz, allowing the CPU to run cooler and allows thermal controlled fans to operate slower   i think this would suit you better

  • KT880 Delta Issues

    Hi guys...first post here!!
Just bought a new KT880 mobo to run a Sempron 2800+ 2.0Ghz chip.  My problems are these...
    1) When I switch on the machine, I am getting 2 quick beeps, with 4 rapid beeps after that.  With this is a message which states "Your CPU Fan had been disconnected or running at low RPM"  On researching google, I found that this was requiring an upgrade to Bios version 1.9, which I did successfully.  However the beeps and message remain!!
    2) Some of my hardware is not being detected by the Bios and, subseqeuntly, not showing in WindowsXP.  I have 2 HDDS set up as master and slave on IDE1.  The Master is being detected, the slave is not!  This is the same configuration I was using on my old setup, but on the KT880 is not?  I also have my DVDRom drive, and CD-Rom set up on IDE2 as master and slave.  Here, the slave is being detected, but the master is not?
    All very strange!!!
My setup (I am at work, so cannot tell you that much), is as follows:
    KT880 Delta Mobo
    AMD Sempron 2800+ 2.0ghz
1.5Ghz DDR333 (Bios has been setup to reflect this, so memory is detected as it should be!!)
    80Gb Seagate Barracuda ATA133 HDD
20Gb Maxtor HDD (old, cant remember complete specs)
    Samsung DVD-Rom/CD_Writer
    Sony CD-Rom
    Gainward GeForce MX440 128Mb 4x AGP Video
    Soundblaster LivePLayer! 1024 soundcard
I hope this helps....really could do with some hints or solutions
    Cheers

    Hello!
Good list of specs, but we should also learn what PSU you got, and the max amperes(A) it can provide. This board is the "heaviest" VIA, so you need 18A on the 12V line.
After installation of a new mobo, at least a Repair Installation of Windows is required. When you do this, have as little as possible in. For example disconnect the Slave hard disk, take out the sound card, only one stick of memory, only one CD device.

  • KT880 Delta / memory problem

(old modified post) go down!!! for the current problem
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=600
    (old post deleted)

    okay, im back
i got my correct processor back. i installed it and the FSB is 200 (400) now, which is great.
    BUT
my memory still has to be set to 333 instead of 400. voltage is currently 2,5.
if i set it to 400, it boots to windows, in a semi-slow way, and crashes all programs i try to run, xcept cpu-z, or "small" programs.
i changed the memory voltage to 2,6, 2,65 and to 2,8, but it still makes programs/games to crash.
so what could be wrong? could it be busted?
