Kuler iPhone app - White Balance

No way to set white-balance?
Kuler for iPhone is really a very nicely done app, but there is a fairly major issue for an app that is only about colour.
No white-balance setting. The iPhone's colours are often too blue. (Probably because Apple thinks it gives more 'punch' and they may be right, but it is not an accurate colour-wise).
As I use Kuler on the iPhone, I see that the colours on the iPhone screen are wildly too blue compared to what is in front of my eyes.
Can you please include the possibility to set Kuler's white-point (grey balance) in the next version?
(This seems like a big omission)

Are you imaggining this would be a setting you would set one time (and tweak occasionally) or something you might want to play with each time you take a pic?

IPhone Camera White Balance

Has anyone heard of anyone doing fixes to the iPhones auto-white balance; possibly making fixed presets?
I hate the fact that it's constantly hunting for white and it means that photos are very inconsistent.

Apple has not released the iPhone SDK - software developers kit yet which won't be released until late February so any 3rd party programming that has been done or is being done for the iPhone is considered a hack.
My question was geared more toward if anyone knew of 3rd parties.
I suggest trying a Google search which may give you an answer much faster but I would be careful before using an available mod or hack for this.

Session Expires on Kuler iPhone app

I installed the Kuler iPhone app on my iPod Touch and my iPad (retina display) and on both, after less than a day, when I go to the app, it has lost my login credientials - or something. Basically, my themes are not there and when I click on the My Account tab my Account name and ID are not shown and yet the Sign Our (not the Sign In) button is there. So it thinks I am still signed in but does not retain my credientials. So I have to logout and longin again, which is a pain because my password is complex.

Yes. It is not happening anymore on my iPod Touch, but when I saw your response, I re-logged in last night on my iPad and when I oppened the app just now, the next day, when the app opens, it showed my saved colors, then it showed a box turning indicating that it was updating the app I assume from the server, then all of my colors are gone. I click on My Account and there is nothing next to "Account" and my ID is there next to Adobe ID for about 1 second and then it vanishes. The Sign Out button is below and stays there as is.

Where do we find the Kuler iPhone App?

Nowhere to be found on Adobe, Kuler or even iTune and AppStore sites. It is a mystery…

IPhone 4 White Balance Issue

Is anyone having the same issue? Indoor pics with florescent light being way too yellow?

Yes, I had this problem as well on my first iPhone 4. There were also yellow blotches, so I exchanged it and the new one is fine, white balance is much better.

What file types does Kuler iPhone app support for images?

Kuler supports all images in your camera roll, on Google images, or Flickr.

IP4 white balance camera app.

Okay, the white balance issue is getting pretty irritating, especially when I email photos or video directly from my phone. Rarely did I color correct the images on my original iPhone, seems like every image needs to be fix on my IP4.
Has anyone found a camera app. that will do color correction or adjust the white balance for photos and videos?

FIX THE WHITE BALANCE FOR IPHONE 4!

Taken under fluorescent lighting. This camera is not useable like the 3GS was. If no fix is coming soon, then I will not be able to return the iphone for the 30 day period....

I would say that white balance presets is a missing feature rather than a broken one (although I can't vouch for 3GS quality).
I don't think it would be too difficult however for either apple or a third party app to implement and I fully expect one of the many camera apps to address this in a future update. This camera is so much more useable than the one in my previous first gen iPhone, and this feature of the camera that I believe is missing more than anything else. Even my old SE K750i had white balance!

It's strange because I can change my AppleID country without this message.
So what to do? Just try to do this again, but on another device. You may also erase cookies and history of your browser.

The operating systems for iOS devices and for Macs are completely different. Applications written for iOS won't run on a Mac no matter what fiddles you try with it. You can sometime extract data by opening the package, but it still won't do you any good. Look in the Mac App Store in your Applications folder to see if there are Mac versions or similar programs (iTunes login required).

I lost my iphone 4 white yesterday (june 21st, 2011)

On June 21st, 2011, I lost it at Fair oaks Mall in Fairfax, Virginia in Forever 21 store around 6:15-6:30pm. While I was trying on rings, I placed it on the table next to me, and when I realized my phone was gone after I purchased my items it was already gone. I literally searched the store for two hours and was out of luck. If anyone seen someone or knows who might have done this, please contact me through [email protected] and reward will be given. It's iphone 4 white with a cover that's pink on the sides and gray plastic on the back. I know how powerful internet is, and hope the person who took my phone realize how immortal thing she/he have conducted and put a suffering on a person.
After spending more than 24hours trying to get my iphone back on my hands, I got to a point that everything is useless and that I have no hope. So I decided to share with others who might be in same or will end up in similar situation.
I did not have Find My Iphone App downloaded on it since it's been only 3weeks since I bought it and never thought it would be stolen like that, I wasn't able to located it (the ******* who stole it turned it off anyways).
I have reported it as a crime to a police, left alternative number at the store, but still nothing.
I have suspended my number from AT&T so that the ******* won't be able to use it.
I just want to advise others in future if they ever lose their iphones:
1. search CAREFULLY. Trace where you might have left it.
2. if you have find my iphone app on it, trace that.
2. Report it to a police
3. call your phone service and see if they can do anything with insurance
4. if you bought your iphone with a credit card, the credit card's insurance might be able to refund you but this varies among the cards.
5. really, Apple will not do anything about your stolen/lost iphone.
6. JUST DON'T LOSE IT.
personally, I bought it with capital one card and was hoping that I could get money back at least since it's a big company and was assure that I had the insurance to cover it, and I found out theft/stolen/loss a product insurance was only for Mastercards professional and bussiness and not for Platinum with regular Mastercard.

This would only work if you have iOS5 installed, and you have activated the "Find my iPhone" feature.
If so, you clould log into iCloud and locate or remotely lock or wipe your phone.

White Balance Correction

Hi all,
This might be a question which is too "simple" for Aperture but here goes...
I am used to using Adobe or Nikon products to edit my RAW images, in those apps you could change white balance as if you were in camera (ie: daylight, shade, flash etc...). In Aperture it seems the only way I can adjust white balance is to click somewhere in the image which is white, is this correct?

How can Aperture surpass the competition by copying them? The current system is workable for saving presets. I am looking for something much better out of Apple in the next revision of Aperture than just 'copying' the competition.
Aperture is innovative and ground-breaking software in many areas. We will have to wait a bit longer for them to fill in some weaker spots in a application.

Wrong white balance in Bridge

Since I reinstalled my computer I have a problem with displaying Canon CR2 files in Bridge - white balance in just incorrect. When I open it in Camera RAW, for about 1 second it displays still incorrectly, but then colours of the picture change and white balance is correct - I can even see that histogram changes slightly at the same moment. Than it opens in Photoshop correctly too. White balance is set to "as shot". I have PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 as part of Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium (all updates are installed). Anyone can solve the problem? I can say that I tried to install Creative Suite on 2 different computers and the problem is in both cases.

But when I open fool preview in Bridge (space, then left mouse click), after a short time when preview renders, the picture becomes fine. So I wonder what picture is displayed in Bridge non-full-screen preview?
Let's first focus on your preference settings. Try these settings:
In Bridge under Adobe Bridge CC open the Camera Raw preferences.
In the section 'Default Image Settings' make sure the the above 2 are NOT checked (Auto tone and auto grayscale)
It is useful to have checked defaults to specific serial number when you did generate a custom default in ACR and iso specific is only useful if you have saved all different iso settings as different ACR defaults.
Then go to same menu and open Bridge Preferences.
In the section Cache under options have only a checkmark in front of 'Keep 100% previews in Cache', don't use the option to export cache to folder.
Also increase the slider for cache size a bit, somewhere half way or left to halfway should be good enough.
Under Advanced / miscellaneous only have a check mark in front of generate monitor sized previews, leave the other 2 blank.
Then in the content window with the problem files be sure to have no hidden cache folders. Use menu view / show hidden files and search for document icons with BridgeCache and BridgeCacheT. If they are here delete both to the trash.
Then restart Bridge and try again
Also might be related to not having synced the color settings in Bridge when having more Suite apps installed from CC.
Any advice how can I check it?
When you have only PS installed Bridge uses the color settings you have saved in there, otherwise you should sync the Bridge color settings for correct colormanagement.
In PS go to the menu edit / Color settings
Check if your settings are what you want and either read the name already given or save these settings under a proper name.
Then in Bridge use the same route (edit/Color Settings and check if the saved settings file is active in the list (Bridge tells you in this menu if the settings are synced or not so that should be easy to check.

White Balance color temperature for custom temperature shots

Hello,
I would like to understand why LR and Photoshop too are always show wrong color temperature "As Shot"?
Let say I shoot with 6000K, set manually (Canon 40D, RAW)
Canon itself says it's 6000K in the slide info, fine.
Both Adobe apps says it's 5750K!
What's going on there?
Second question - I know the light was EXACTLY 6000K, but the slide has some green in it. Picking white balance in LR gives me 5900K (which is close to the truth) and +31 Tint, which makes slide neutral.
Of course I can correct Tint manually before the shot by WB Shift in Camera, so the question is: what is the best way - to find more or less appropriate WB shift in the camera, or use WB correction in LR after all?

UPD. My suggestion is - Adobe doesn't read custom temperature from RAW file, it's just guessing! Is that right?

The white balance value you see in Lightroom is profile specific. It reads your custom white balance and translates it so that neutrals stay neutral, which is exactly what you want. If it wouldn't do this, your neutrals would shift in color.
The best way to get a correct white balance is to shoot a white balance (grey) card or use one of those filters on your camera to measure it. You can either set it in camera from the grey card or do it with the dropper in Lightroom and sync over the series. The effect will be the same.
P.S. unless you shoot a white balance card, you do not know that the color temp of your light is exactly 6000K. That is quite impossible to know. It might be approximately that under certain standardized conditions but you cannot be sure, no matter what you're told by the manufacturer.
