Kuler no longer working in InDesign CS4

Hi
I've been googling this a lot but haven't found a (working) solution yet. I did find a link to what could be a solution, but the link is not working anymore.
I'm an IT guy in an office where we have a small team of four people using Adobe Creative Suite 4. Recently they contacted me asking for help because Kuler was no longer working for them (it stopped working for all four).
I installed InDesign CS4 on my own machine only to see that it does not work for me either. The error message is "No internet connection detected. Your computer must be online in order to search or access kuler themes".
When I go to Windows -> Extensions -> Connections I'm able to login, but not able to search for updates, I just get "The update server is unavailable".
When running the Kuler Air app I just get "kuler klash, please try again later".
Because we're a big company we do of course have antivirus and firewalls. To make sure that the problem isn't because of this I installed InDesign on a machine (server) on a completely different network with less strict firewall and no antivirus on the machine, but It's just the same error message as before.
Our machines are running Windows 7 Enterprise (the extra test was done on a Windows 2012 Server).
Is Kuler just not working for CS4 anymore?
Looking forward to a clarification on this problem.

The Kuler team recently rebuilt the backend of the Kuler service for security, maintenance, and peformance reasons.  (the old back-end was showing signs of failure).
Anyway, it seems the new backend is not working with old Kuler APIs (CS3, CS4, and the air app and mac widget).  Adobe typically provides support for up to two versions back.  At the moment, that's CS5 or newer.  So, I'm afraid it's not likely that you can expect a fix for CS4.
At this point, your team can use the web application to browse, create, and search themes.  They can also download themes as ASE files (on the website) to import into InDesign CS4.

    Bridge place command no longer works for indesign 2014. It only gives Photoshop as an option. How can I get all other Adobe programs listed under Place ?

    Your post sounds like an InDesign question.
    Due to the current unavailability of clairvoyants and mind-readers in the forum, we respectfully request you supply sensible, complete details.
    A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
    If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
    such as your platform (Mac or Win),
    exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2) and of Bridge,
    your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
    the type of file you were working on,
    machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
    what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
    if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
    if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
    etc.,

  • Why does 'Interpret Fields' no longer work in Premiere CS4?

    Although I have moved on personally, my office still uses CS4. For some reason the interpret fields function no longer works, so all my interlaced footage has to be made progrssive to output it!!
    If I load an interlaced clip into the source and view it at 100%, then mess around with the interlacing options...NOTHING HAPPENS!
    I am at my wits end, Adobe no longer support CS4 and re-install didn't help at all.
    Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

    Thanks Ann but no dice.
    I'd already trashed the prefs (in fact I printed them off, ripped them up and burned them for good measure!)
    Media & databases also binned.
    I was thinking it may be a corrupt dll or plugin somewhere, but no idea which one might handle the interlacing?

  • Colour Profiles no longer work in Indesign CS5

    I have upgraded to cs5 and I am printing in Indesign using a Epson 3800, my old colour profiles no longer work (There is a cyan cast and everything is really saturated). The same profiles work fine through photoshop.
    This profile worked in Indesign Photshop and Illustrator in cs3
    Does anyon know, if there is something different within cs5 Indesign printing set up?

    Take a look at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3287272#3287272 for some information. Was DYP found that on Mac the monitor profile was being introduced into the print flow for RGB printing out of ID -- an Apple Bug I think -- and the status of what's happening has changed.

  • Why does my scroll wheel stop working in Indesign CS4

    Hi there,
    I'm driving myself crazy trying to work on a laptop in Indesign and navigate without the scroll wheel.When I open InDesign it works and then very soon after it stops. The only way I know of getting it to work is to restart the program but that's really annoying and time consuming. Has anyone else come across this and know of a better fix. It's crazy that something as vital as this doesn't work. The wheel works in all other programs including Photoshop.
    Thanks for any help you can give.
    Cheers
    Sam

    I have confirmed problems with the scroll wheel in CS5.5 as well. It often seems to happen after changing the zoom factor manually (by typing it in the menubar), but sometimes also after opening a second document. Has anyone else had this problem?
    BTW, when you have two documents opened, it can sometimes be fixed by clicking to the other document, try some scrolling, and then switch to the other document and try some scrolling again.

  • The 'Command \' no longer works in InDesign

    Hello
    For years I've been able to use 'command \' to make a section of text align on that mark. However, as of the previous 6.x update I am no longer able to use this quick command. It was very helpful when creating lists and other call-out elements. Any idea what the quick key is for this in the new version?
    Thanks
    Robb

    all other shortcuts work perfectly. that's what made me think they replaced it somewhere along the line. however, using the menu route to 'indent to here' works - just not the shortcut.
    I will try trashing the preferences and see if that helps.
    thanks for your time today!

  • Mavericks "services" menu no longer working in InDesign CC

    Since installing InDesign CC the services menu now show "no services available". These were all there in CS 5.5. Doing a document that uses lots of Math and now I can't access LaTeXIt to create these formulae on the fly.
    Any suggestions or work-arounds?

    I think the Macintosh Services menu was probably disabled when InDesign was re-written for Cocoa and 64-bit in InDesign CC. But, for me, options under the Services menu rarely worked in earlier versions of InDesign. I'm sorry you're losing some functionality. Since I'm not familiar with LaTeXIt, I can't suggest a workaround. What were you using it for?
    I did a little more testing. It's hit or miss which applications respect the Services menu. It seems to work best in Apple applications like Safari, Mail, etc. but less so elsewhere. Applications that handle their own text like Adobe applications mostly ignore it.

  • InDesign CS4 and Yosemite

    After upgrading to Yosemite, my thumbnail previews no longer show in InDesign CS4. Any ideas?

    What you mean with Thumbnails? Previews the finder shows? CS4 is not 100% compatible with OS 10.10. Illustrator and Photoshop might not work properly. Thats why my agency had to upgrade to CC.

  • InDesign CS4 Crashing on Mac OS 10.6.7

    After my G5 recently went down, I starting using the iMac with Snow Leopard for client jobs. Today I started working in InDesign CS4 but found that I could not get far before it would crash. I tried deleting preferences, then tried eliminating fonts, then tried rebooting and running Permissions. I've been on the internet trying to find the answer. Checked the Adobe Forums. Even consulted Adobe's Help Console, but the guy pointed me back to the forums.
    Does anyone know if there is a solution to this crashing apart from having to upgrade to CS5? I don't use InDesign as much as I used to since I primarily work on websites now. I would prefer not to have to upgrade.

    Hi,

    function ReLink()
    myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    myLinks = myDoc.links;
    for (j = myLinks.length - 1; j >= 0; j--)
                        myName = myLinks[j].filePath;

  • InDesign CS4 / CS5 missing JavaScript Socket() object?

    If I do
    var mySocketObject = new Socket();
    socket.open("mywebsite.com:80", "BINARY")
    in Photoshop, it creates a socket object called mySocketObject, which is not null and opens the socket correctly.
    If I do the same thing in InDesign CS5, the same command fails.
    I know this works in InDesign CS3, so what does one need to do to make Socket() work in InDesign CS4/5?

    Adobe's own Javascript Tools Guide is your friend for snippets like these.
    This is from the CS4 guide, but it should work for CS5 as well:
    reply = "";
    conn = new Socket; // access Adobe’s home page
    if (conn.open ("www.adobe.com:80"))
    // send a HTTP GET request
    conn.write ("GET /index.html HTTP/1.0\n\n");
    // and read the server’s reply
    reply = conn.read(999999);
    conn.close();

  • Indesign CS4 loses links when saving layout

    I ran across an interesting situation at work, using Indesign CS4 on a Mac in an ActiveDirectory environment (network users). Every time Indesign was saving the layout file, the last graphic element placed on the layout lost the link to the original file. We change every single component in this scenario (parameter ram, Indesign prefs, new hardware, OS upgrade from 10.6 all the way up to 10.8, deleted the user and created a new one, ...) until we noticed a font problem with the universal type client deamon. The solution was pretty simple - we deleted all the font-management stuff and did a clean install of the universal type client. Et voilà, Indesign worked like charm… maybe someone can make use of my time-consuming experience

    Thank you. I'm pretty sure there was another thread about losing links last year, and it also turned out to be Suitcase.

  • Scripts no longer working via Bridge

    For some reason, scripts no longer works in Bridge CS4.
    I've previously installed "Dr. Brown's services" scripts which is available in the "Tools" menu of Bridge. However, when I select some files, then choose this script Photoshop starts up, but nothing more happens.
    The same goes for the "Tools"-"Photoshop" menu (Batch, Image processor etc.). Photoshop CS4 starts up but nothing else happens.
    However, if I do the same thing in Photoshop itself ("File"-"Scripts") it works fine, so the scripts themselves are working, or so it seems.

    If for some reason Bridge suddenly behaviors other then before the first
    thing to try is a restart for Bridge holding down option key to refresh the
    preferences. Set Prefs again to your wishes and try again.
    For some reason, scripts no longer works in Bridge CS4.

  • InDesign CS4 and PhotoShop CS4 Integration issue.

    When working in inDesign CS4 Mac, I often click on a image to edit it in photoshop CS4 via the edit button in the InDesign links pallet That brings up the file in PhotoShop so that I can make my adjustments. When trying to save the photo in Photoshop the file will note save.
    I get the pop up message that the file is in use. So I have to close the InDesign file in order to save the photo, re open inDesign to re-link the image. Very frustrating when working with a customer.... Any one else having this issue? or am I just lucky.
    mac pro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 10 Gigs ram Running Mac OS X 10.5.6
    InDesign 6.0.1

    This could be a Leopard thing as I don't have that problem using those apps in Tiger.
    You may also need to use Diskwarrior to fix your directory.
