KVMs for ACD 23"

I have been searching for USB, DVI KVMs for use with my 23" ACD. Thus far I have found only one that supports 1920 x 1200 resolution:
<http://www.avocent.com/web/en.nsf/Content/SwitchViewDVI-4port>
Actually this is available from Avocent in two or four port models.
1.)I am looking for someone who has used one with a 23" ACD to support their MAC (Tiger) and a PC, and to determine happiness with the AVOCENT KVM.
2.) Are there other USB DVI KVMs that support 1920 x 1200 resolution?

I second the Addlogix. I use the version that switches USB and Firewire with the 23" and it works great with one caution. The KVM box has four USB ports, two general and one "dedicated" to the keyboard and one "dedicated" to the mouse. The two dedicated ports are USB 1.1 and the two hub ports are USB 2.0. I do not understand why they do not make everything 2.0.
So here is my issue and work around. I used a hard wired Logitech "media" keyboard and a wireless MX1000 Logitech mouse. Both devices require USB 2.0 for the Mac and the PC to give them full functionality. Indeed, if you use either on the Powermac G5 in a USB 1 hub, it is not a recognized device. To get around this and still have freely switchable 2.0 ports, I had to connect a powered USB 2.0 hub to the USB 2.0 output of the KVM.
The only other oddity is that my USB Harmon Kardon Powerstick speakers crackle if I connect them to any USB port but the Monitor.
Other than these minor issues, this switch is a joy.

  • Trying to Find the right KVM For my 3 Sunfire v250's

    Hello All,
I currently have 3 SunFire v250 systems running Solaris 9/04. I tried using a Belkin PRO2 series KVM with USB ports. When rebooting the systems, I would get USB Timeout Errors, and some if not most of the time the system would not come up. I would need to go into the ALOM to reset each system usually several times before they would actually come up. The documentation for the KVM suggests booting the System up with the KB/Mouse/Monitor directly connected, and once the system is up then adding the KVM in the mix. This works, however when I reboot the system I am back to square one.
I am looking for suggestions for a KVM switch (if there is one) that will work well with SunFire v250's. Also, I am using xvr-100 graphics cards in each system.
    Thank you in advance,
    -Chris

    Hello Chris,
in the past there have been numerous posts on this topic (search for KVM).
Unfortunately there is no easy answer, except that most people would recommend to use a terminal server/console server instead.
Is your KVM listed on the following site or does Belkin recommend this KVM for Sun <b>SPARC</b> systems ?

  • Do I Need To Upgrade Video Card for ACD 20" for the PowerPC G4

    Hello,
I am extremely new to the MAC world so forgive my ignorance. I have a 450Mhz Power PC G4 running a 20gb harddrive. I recently bought the ACD 20" and when I tried to "plug and pray" the display came on for the initial "Apple" screen but when it came time to boot into the OS I got a black screen. I am running OS 10 Tiger and I have AGP graphics. From what I can discern I have a "ATY, Rage 128 Pro".
I read from another posting that the G4s that have the analog and digital video cards need to be upgraded. My question: Is there an upgradable solution for my system and if so what is it? Please say yes!!! LOL
    Thanks

  • KVM for DVI?

Now that I've gone and ordered a new Pro I will soon have 3 desktops and a laptop. I've been using one monitor (a Dell 21" 1600x1200) for the two desktops (one on the DVI and the other on the VGA inputs) and seperate keyboards and mice. The laptop has been standalone. It looks like that will not be a workable solution with 3 keyboard/mice combinations and only a S-video or RCA input left open on the monitor. It'd also be nice to hook up the laptop. It looks like choices are limited for KVM switches that are both 4 port and use DVI. Here is what I've found:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009UFOTS/sr=8-6/qid=1155042798/ref=pdbbs6/002-3893310-0869648?ie=UTF8

Anyone have any experience with these or any other recomendations?

That's what I thought. Your problem is going to find a KVM that supports 1600 x 1200 and higher resolutions. When you look at the specs many don't support 23" display resolutions.
One option you may not have thought of given your Dell display is to use its input ports rather than go with a KVM. All you would need to do is to find decent enough DVI to VGA adapter and a DVI to Component adapter and you can just plug each computer into each of the inputs on your Dell display and select between them. I'll be doing this with Dell 24" display even though the DVI to VGA adapter that came with my Mac mini isn't really up to the job (the mini will be a server so image quality is not high in the list of importance - just as long as it works which it does).

  • KVM for mini-dv?

    Hi.
I've got a MacBook Pro with a mini-DVI video port and one of the new LED Cinema Displays that go so beautifully with it, also using mini-DVI. I'm getting one of the just-released Mac Minis, which also has a mini-DVI video out.
I'd like to set up a KVM switch so that I can use the Cinema Display with both MacBook and Mini, but I haven't been able to find any KVM switches for mini-DVI. The idea of introducing two additional adpaters (mini-DVI to DVI and vice-versa) is unpleasant, both from cost and mess (and possible quality) standpoints.
Does anyone know of a mini-DVI KVM solution?
    Thanks,
    :ian

Are you sure you don't instead mean Mini-DisplayPort? The new 24" LCD Cinema Display uses Mini-DisplayPort, not DVI.
I don't know of any KVM that switches even the full-size DisplayPort at all as of yet, and I strongly doubt that there will be any in the near future that support Mini-DisplayPort since only Apple is using that as of today.

  • KVM for mixed DVI D-sub setup

I can't find one of the KVM discussions I recall, but I don't think it addressed this.
I would love to share a keyboard, mouse, and one or more monitors with my 3 PCs.  But the laptop and one PC are old (meaning D-sub video outputs), and the other is an i7 with DVI.  Two of the 3 monitors are DVI capable.
The i7 is the main editing workstation, with only CS5.  The laptop is used for email and various other things.  The other PC is a P4 that I used mostly most testing (has CS3 and CS4 loaded).
So I want a 3 port, DVI and D-sub switch (with keyboard and mouse), and sure - audio.  (But the audio output options on the i7 suggest that would be complicated.)
Or is that what I want?  Suggestions?
NewEgg has a sale on a "4 port USB DVI KVMP Switch with Audio and Cables."  I suppose I could put a cheap DVI capable video card in the P4, and connect a monitor directly to the laptop?

Not sure if this is much help but I have just been through a lot of searches for a good KVM setup for my two core I7’s..
Fortunately both are DVI-D setups but you can follow some of these links and or call the folks at StarTech and they will tell you what would work best in your situation..
I really like their products and have been using them for years with a PS2 setup..
This is the KVM setup I am going with / not cheep / solid steel stuff which won’t slip all over your desk like the cheep plastic crapolla.. Plus you want to make sure you get one which will give you the full max display capabilities of your setup.
You can drive a truck over these things. (almost).  http://ca.startech.com/product/SV231DD2DUA-2-Port-Dual-DVI-USB-KVM-Switch-with-Audio-20-Hu b
My towers are going to be about 25 feet away from the monitors and keyboard so will need some USB and DVI-D range boosters / they also have those products.

  • KVM for Windows CE

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a KVM by Sun, for PDA devices with the following configuration:
    - CPU: StrongARM or MIPS 3912
    - SO: Windows CE 3.0
Where can I find and download it?
If this KVM doesn't exit, is it possible to get a similar JVM for the PDA configuration I've just described.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joseph.

    Hi,
There aren't any Sun KVM implementations for the Windows CE platform.
However, I think it's possible to run MIDP aplications with ME4SE. Check out http://www.me4se.org/pocketpc/.

  • AppleCare for ACD Problem

I bought a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo in February and I've got AppleCare for it.
I believe that the AppleCare Protection Plan of an MacBook Pro can include a Apple Cinema Display.
However, if I buy a ACD now, can I add it into my MacBook Pro's Protection Plan?
    Or I can't?

The AppleCare plan for the MacBook Pro will only cover an Apple Display if they were purchased together. You can purchase a separate plan for the display.

  • Protective Cases for ACD HD 23" While Traveling

    Hello Guys
I will soon be purchasing the 23inch ACD. I was wondering where I could locate a good protective case for my 23inch display while I travel. I went to a local apple store and they recommended that I could either ship it or buy a case from a music store, the type that they use for drums and other music equiment.
    I also came across http://www.pelican.com/
What do you guys recommend? I'll be changing dorms over the summer and then once I am done during the middle of summer I will be flying back home. Should I ship it with a certain shipping company or should I get a case for it?
    iBook G4 14 1.2 GHz processor   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

This is a good idea, I took my monitor from the US to Indonesia and put it in the original box. It arrived in a very good condition. No damage whatsoever. Been using it for over 6 months and it's fine.

  • Best KVM for using 2 computers with one monitor?

Hi. I am using a Dell U2711 monitor with a main, big, wonderful machine that has an nvidea display card and am considering to get an additional, small machine, to install Linux/GNU, and wondering, to use the one monitor for both computers.
So, can anyone recommend the best KVM switch for these specifications, or what am i to look for in a kvm switch, assuming i'm using CS5.5 Master COllection on the big machine and dont want to lose quality by adding the switch.
    thanks

I've been using the Rosewill RKV-2DVI for about a year with an XP 32 bit machine and a W7 64 bit machine.

    Use vmware drivers:
    cur_work$ cat ~/temp/vm-start
    #!/bin/bash
    qemu-kvm -hda $1 -net nic,model=virtio \
    -net user,hostfwd=tcp:127.0.0.1:15000-:22 -vga vmware \
    -usbdevice tablet -device intel-hda -device hda-duplex -m 512
But be sure that appropriate drivers are present in the guest OS.
EDIT: Off-topic: Out of curiosity, how many threads does qemu-kvm create when running with virtio_blk? For me it's ~150, which I hits my ulimit settings...

  • Kvm for palm os 4/5?

    hi
is there any plan to support midp on palm os 4 or 5?
    tks

If you have a Tungsten ARM device or a Treo 600, check out:
    http://pluggedin.palmone.com/regac/pluggedin/Java.jsp
    for a MIDP 2.0/ CLDC 1.1 VM.
Otherwise, for OS 4 you can use Sun's MIDP4Palm or IBM's J9 both of which are 68k VM's and support MIDP1.0/CLDC 1.0. Actually both these VM's work on the newer devices, they're just not optimized for them.

  • Related to ACD(Add chage Delete) for extend button  need update table name.

In which table the data(new material number , the plant number etc.) are updated for ACD(Add Change Delete) when a new material is included in plant or extend from one plant to another plant in material Management(MM).Any pointer from any side will help me a lot...
    Thanks in advance
    Azizur.

    Hi,
You can check all the material master tables and
other material related tables from t-code SE11.
There in the table name area you have to write
MA* and press F4,it will fetch you all the material
related tables in a drop down.
    Hope it helps
