"Kyle's iPod could not be syncd.  The required file is missing."

I'm using itunes 7.3.1.3 and I just bought a whole bunch of video podcasts. I went to update my ipod and I got an itunes error message that said "Kyle's iPod could not be syncd. The required file is missing." and also a windows xp error bubble saying something about a Delayed Write. Can someone help me with this?

I have the same issue and can't figure it out.

  • Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt - message

Hi there and apologies in advance if this is a daft or very frequently asked question.
Upon trying to boot up this Toshiba mini NB200 device last night we got this message:
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.  it then asked me to press r at the forst screen to start a repair if I have the original set up cd.
The device had to be forced to shutdown previously as it hung when shutting down.
Now multiple reboots (including uncoupling/recoupling the battery) and resetting the settings from start up menu result in the same error message.
The device has no cd drive installed but previously Jerry Lippey (in 2011) saved the day by recommending purchase of a product recovery disc (R10804EN) after a 'flashing cursor issue' at logon.
Has anyone far more clever than I any thoughts (if we're able to borrow a portable cd drive) whether this disc may work again?
Windows XP was/is preinstalled on the PC (we havent the disc) and we've subsequently added MS Works. A total wipe of the device (as long as XP remains?) wont be too much hassle as we havent any data that we're too bothered about on it.
    Many, many thanks in advance

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Bad news. It means the System hive, which is the most important branch of the registry, is corrupt. Unless you have made provisions for this (we always do on XP systems), the fix is too complex for you to handle (KB307545).
I'm afraid you'll need to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media as you did before. Do you have important files to rescue?

Any system or sys32 and any .dll files missing or corrupted errors, usually the only fix is to reinstall windows and anything on hard drive not saved on removable drives...flash, usb, cd or floppy is lost. I've had several sys32.dll file missing or corrupted errors and asked at Best Buy Geek Squad what the fix would cost and that's how I learned the only fix is installing windows.

  • TS1538 iPod can not be synced the required  file can not be found

ipod canot be synced the required file cannot be found

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."
    help please

My last post had some good info, here is a repost:
Emerging Info! Apparently there are files in windows that disable the means which we are supposed to format the disk. Two of these file names found so far are UNATTEND.TXT and WINNT.SIF. Some computers may have one or the other files located in the \I386 directory of you XP cd. Apparently there is a way to fix the problem my recopying your XP disc to a new CD and deleting the file out. There are directions on one of the links which I am currently following but have not finished.

  • The ipod could not be synced. the required folder could not be found?

    Please help
I have tried to restore my itunes but now cant sync keep getting the above error, i have tried all the fixes

    Hi,
        What i would  suggest is ;
    You disconnect your ipod
    you connect it again
    then you format your ipod.
    after formatting it will reset.
You then select your language and plug it in again.
you may have to restore it again or maybe not.
Then you set your ipod name and sync settings.
You ipod should sync this time no probs.
Try this method and let me know how far it goes.
I just did this and it works perfectly.
I was stuck on this problem for about 4 hrs but i figured this out, if it works see if you can spread this.
    Thanks

Peace.  My name is Free.  Thanks in advance for any help u can offer.  My iPod cannot be synced because the required file could not be found.  How do I fix this problem?

    Hi antiklady,
I see that you may be having an issue with compatibility of iTunes when connecting your iOS device. This sort of issue can arise if you have two versions of iTunes installed on your computer, which I feel may be the case. Here is an article that can tell you how to identify the version of iTunes that you have open:
iTunes: How to find which version you are using - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201521
If the version of iTunes that is opened is not the version you are required to use for the iOS device in question, try searching through your computer or applications folder to see if there may be two versions of iTunes installed on your computer. Then, uninstall the version that is incompatible using these steps:
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • "the ipod 'name' cannot be updated. the required file could not be found."

PLEASE can someone help me out on a problem that is infuriating me?? i've not long had my 30GB 5th generation video ipod, and i can't get any photos or video to transfer onto it! when i connect my ipod and itunes opens up, an error message appears saying "the ipod 'name' cannot be updated. the required file could not be found". however, it updates my music no problem..
i've reset my ipod, restored it and wiped all my music off and then transferred it all back on, downloaded the new ipod updater 28-06-2006 and made sure my ipod has the most recent software etc on there, but still no joy!
i never had a problem transferring photos onto my old colour photo ipod (4th generation?), so it's really annoying that i have a supposed 'better' ipod now that won't do this for me!
any help guys? please note, i am no techie - please put any advice in simple terms!

    Hello WGT52,
It sounds like this error message is preventing you from syncing your content to the iPod. I would recommend the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

  • The iPod cannot be synced. The required file not found"

The iPod cannot be synced. The required file not found" is this something i can fix? i have tried everything.

    Hi,
here's a work around for the "the required file cannot be found" problem when syncing
go to your 'iphoto library' in pictures,
    locate your 'originals' folder
ctrl click it and select 'create alias'
drag your 'originals alias' folder to your 'pictures' folder.
go to itunes with your ipod/iphone attached
    click your ipod/iphone
    select the 'photos' tab
next to 'sync photos from' click the drop down menu
    click 'choose folder'
    find your 'originals alias' folder
    select the photos you want.
now your ipod/iphone will now sync your photos.
    enjoy

Oh my God! I'm having the exact problem with my new 30G iPod with video, which I got as a replacement with my warranteed iPod. It resets itself when I sync, or even when I restore the iPod. I was on the phone for two hours with multiple Apple technicians, who couldn't figure out what's wrong and asked me to send it for repair. You know what? They couldn't find anything wrong with it, so they sent it back. Not surprisingly, it still doesn't work. To be sure that it's not my system that's causing this problem, I tried syncing on two computers, two operating systems (WINDOW XP and OS X), and two USB cables. So I'm definitely sure it's not my system, which leads me to think I also got a LEMON! Now I am on the phone yet again, actually am being put on hold for the millionth time. I wonder if michlexi, or anyone with the same problem, was able to find resolution??

the iphone could not restored because the firmware file is not compatible

Generally a sign that the iPhone has been hacked or modified
to work with other than the original wireless carrier or an attempt
was made to return to a version of iOS earlier than the version
    currently installed on the iPhone.
