L170 monitor faded, now flashes on only when settings change

After bringing my monitor out of standby, I heard a slight pop and then the display faded almost to black, but enough to see the windows as I closed them one by one. The power is working, as the green light is on or blinking. A Dell monitor worked with the computer so I know it's not the computer. I hooked up the monitor to my laptop and set the graphics mode to multiple display, and the laptop desktop screen flashed briefly on the monitor, then went dark. Each time I changed to another setting, I could get a brief image on the monitor. I swapped out the signal cable from the working monitor and tried it with the L170, with the same results as above. When the monitor is not attached to a computer, I get the IBM Thinkvision image, followed by the moving "No connection, check signal cable" message.
None of the monitor buttons, other than the power button, does anything.
I saw reference on this site to a "cable select button" but have no idea where that might be.

Screen flashing black only when viewing .pdf or .doc

I installed OpenOffice about a month ago. Shortly thereafter, my screen began flashing black whenever (and only when) I opened a document or pdf.
I installed OpenOffice and installed Microsoft Word. No help. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled it. Still same problem. I called Dell computers. They had me do a System Restore.
No help. For some reason, they had me log in as an administrator. No help. The screen only flashes when a .doc or .pdf is open. It's a software, not hardware problem. Please help.

How to run TCP/IP Tx in cRIO vi only when value changes?

My design uses NI's TPC-2006 as the user interface for a cRIO-based product. I use TCP/IP to exchange data between the TPC-2006 and cRIO. My code causes the TPC to lock up after a variable number of minutes, typically about 10. The OS is completely locked and requires a power cycle to recover.
Based on the theory that the TPC-2006 is not keeping up with the TCP/IP packets sent by cRIO, I want to try configuring cRIO to transmit only when it has something new to say. The event structure that I use for the TPC-2006 won't work on cRIO. Can anyone out there suggest another approach?

Hi Jeff,
The simplest way to reduce transmission overhead in this scenario would be to encase your existing TCP/IP routine in a case structure that only executes if the data element you're interested in is not equal to its last value (stored in a shift register). This shouldn't add much in the way of computational overhead on the RT side, but should reduce the flood of data if the value doesn't change very often. Keep in mind also that if you have LabVIEW 8, you can use Shared Variables to send the data over your tcp/ip connection only when a new value is written to the variable - this may meet your needs just as well.

Has anyone else had the issue of the the screen randomly flashing black only when using Messages app in landscape?

I have been having an issue with the screen flashing black for several seconds then turning back on. This olny occurs in the Messages app and only in landscape mode. I have never noticed the issue in any other app. The issue is 100% repeatable. Has anyone else had this issue or know of any solutions to what seems to be a bug?

I think this is an issue with the phone's proximity sensor (the one that turns the screen off when you hold it up to your ear). It's a bug that seems to occur when you switch to another app (any app) while still on a phone call. You'll notice in Messages that the screen goes dark when you move your thumb over the earpiece/iSight camera, but not when you move your other thumb.
Simplest solution is to force-quit the Messages app (double-click the home button, and swipe up on the app). The problem should resolve itself when you restart Messages.

I am a Flash developer. When I change a Flash file (SWF) and try to test it, Firefox displays the previous version even though I have cleared the cache. Clearing the cache obviously doesn't clear everything. Why?

I developed a Flash file (SWF) with a light blue start button, placed it on a web server then went to the URL using Firefox (3.6.8). Later I updated the SWF (changed the button to dark blue), replaced the SWF on the web server, opened Firefox and used Tools/Clear Recent History... to clear the cache. Then when I went to the URL to test the replaced SWF it clearly opened the previous version (light blue button). How can that happen if the previous version no longer exists on the web server? Firefox can only be opening the file from its cache, so why is the file still there if I just cleared the cache?

I had the identical issue with iPhone config Utility on windows 7 64bit.
A virtual macOS on the same machine didn't have a problem, windows iTunes didnt have a problem. Just a glitch with ICU on windows
I tried everything you did and the only thing that fixed it was to change the appID or app name (I forget which I did).
I don't know where that old app data is stored on the machine, but I deleted all apps, uninstalled/reinstalled ICU and it still would populate and install the old ipa.
I also still periodically get weird errors/glitches deploying to iOS on windows.
It's like some days I need to deploy with ICU, sometimes iTunes, sometimes I need to run the VM mac... SOO frustrating.
It always works one way or another, so the app itself is always fine.
I guess I really need to look into that new direct deployment option...

Flash play freezes when settings are opened

For some time, when I access my flash player settings thru my
web browser, it freezes. I cannot advance to any tabs or select
anything, nor even close the settings window.
The settings that were saved from when it worked are no
longer saved so when i go on a site like stickam and attempted to
turn on my webcam, the settings window opens asking me to allow and
it freezes, thus forcing me to have to close the window.
can anyone help me?

I did not notice that I was in full scree mode. Yes that the issue, out of full screen it works like before.

EC Purchase Order.Total Value Incrsd   - here you could check, if the value increased
EC Purchase Order.Total Value Diff.    - here you check, if there is a difference to the original amount
Both of the above starting conditions you could use in the event of 'CREATED' (new PO) or 'CHANGED' (amended PO).

Have Web App/Transaction monitoring alert only when majority of watcher nodes are in error?

We do a lot of web app/transaction monitoring and we have watcher nodes distributed globally. When we have connectivity issues at a site hosting a watcher node, the web monitors that target the watcher node in that site all alert even though all the other
watcher nodes are fine.
We'd like to reduce the noise from our web monitoring by having alerts fire only when a majority, or some other defined ratio, of watcher nodes are in an error condition. Is this possible, and if so, how?
For reference, we're running 2012 R2 and monitor hundreds of URLs. This list of URLs and watcher nodes is fairly dynamic, so we'd prefer to find a solution that doesn't require manual development (e.g. creating distributed apps), however if that's the only
path then it would also be good to know.

First, disable the alerts from the web application that you have created.
Next, create a new distributed application. Use the 'Blank (Advanced)' template. When it comes to choosing the management pack, set it to be the same as the one used for the web monitor.
Once the distributed application designer has loaded, client the 'Add Component' button.
Give it a name - Something like 'Appname web monitor component group'
Choose the 'objects of the following type(s)' radio button. Navigate the tree:
Entity -> Logical Entity -> Perspective -> Web Application Perspective -> YOURWEBMONITOR
Tick the box next to the name of your web monitor.
Now, on the left, in the Objects bar, you should see the watcher nodes for your web application. Add ALL the watcher nodes into the component group by dragging them in.
Now save your distributed application.
Click the title of the component group that you have just created, down the bottom right of the window there will be a link called 'Configure Health Rollup'. Click that.
In the override properties window, Tick the box next to the 'Rollup Algorithm' and change the Override Value to Worst state of a percentage of members in good health state' and override 'percentage' value into your expected value.
OK the changes and then save the distributed application once again.
Before you exit the designer, note the name of the component group that you created.
Finally, we have to enable alerting for that component group. To do this, exit the designer and you should be back in the Authoring pane of the console.
Go to "Management Pack Objects\Monitors" in the console. Click on the Scope toolbar button to scope the view -
if a scope was previously active, this will disable the scoped view, so click the button again. You should be presented with a "Scope Management Pack Objects Window"
Click the "Clear All" button at the bottom of that window, then type in the
name of the component group that you noted down earlier into the search box. A single line should be displayed in the search results. Tick the box and click OK.
There should now be a yellow bar saying that the view has been scoped to your web application component group. Underneath will be a tree view of the monitors in your web applicaion.
Expand the tree view until you find a monitor called "Component Group Health Roll-up for type..."
Open the properties of that item, go to the alerting tab and
enable the "generate alerts for this monitor" checkbox.
You can then fill in the alert name and description as well as other things like severity and whether or not the alert will close when the monitor is healthy.

Flash jumps when javascript change height of container DIV

Flash jumps down, when you change(make bigger) the height of contaner DIV.
I've narrowed the problem down to the simple code

No matter what SWF file is used, if you click on the flash(DIV) the
javascript will change the height of the DIV and the flash will jump
down.
The quick fix is to remove the wmode="transparent", but if I need the transparency I cannot do that.

WHEN-RADIO-CHANGED

Hi Everyone,
     I'm utilizing Oracle Forms 10g and i have created a radio group called "current_tier". Within the group there are 4 radio buttons. Each button is sequentially assigned a number from 0 to 3, so if you pick Tier 0, then the database field is populated with a Zero (0), and so on. This aspect works. Now, i created a WHEN-RADIO-CHANGED with the following code, and it just doesn't seem to do anything... no errors, nothing. Can you take a look and point me in the right direction? basically, if they pick Tier 2 or 3, I want a specific column in the database to be updated with a Date that they upgraded from say zero or 1 or even from 2 to 3. Below is my code.

Hi - Regarding our UI pattern button "Save" initially is disabled - and is activated only when user changes something in form view (change something in InputField or TextEdit UI)

In InputField there is event OnEnter - but this not enough - user may pass the fields with TAB sequence and event is not triggered.

Well, I guess it's impossible. You need some action to force propagating data from client to server. And in your case there is nothing -- focus traverse events are not supported.
The only way is to enable "Save" action and skip unecessary updates in action handler.

I was having cross-threading issues on 3 form components which I was able to resolve (see
code here). Now I think the soluiton which involves creating a delegate and performing an "InvokeRequired" check (see
what I used), I'm having an issue passing 5 values for each column. Below is the code involved calling this invoking check for each and their methods.
Before having the cross-thread issue the "listview1.Items.Add(values.text) add the comma separated string values to the appropriate columns, but that doesn't happen through the cross-thread fix required.
The "Loading()" method is handled through and async/await method causing the initial cross-thread issue.

Ok, I still have the flickering issue, I could use some guidance on that. And I should note that before I had the code-threading issue, I never had any flickering, it all appeared simultaneously.
However, I was able to populate all columns (5 in all). I had two corrections to make.
1) My method should not have been passing the parameter as text but as the object ListViewItem:

When I open up iphoto and click on the events tab then double click on an event, it used to show minis of all the photos in that event. Now it shows only one photo at a time. How do I get it back? Can you help?

On the bottom bar of the window (on the left iPhoto 11, on the right in other versions) note the slider. Drag it left.
