L220x only sharp at highest resolution

I have a brand new L220x 22" ThinkVision monitor....text only seems sharp when screen is set to 1920x1200 resolution. Unfortubnately, this makes the lettering too small and hard to read.
I've tried Clear Type and everything else, but I can't seem to get it as sharp at 1440x900 or any other setting.  Is it supposed to function this way?  I've tried it an three different machines with the same result.
Tech support was no help---couldn't tell me if it is supposed to work this way or not.

  • Qosmio G50-12K - LCD is only sharp at highest resolution

    Hi!
I just bought Toshiba G50-12K and I have first problem. LCD resolution is 1920x1080 and on it everything is very nice and very sharp. But when I would like to use any other resolution screen is not very nice. So I have question:
    1. It is normal that screen it is usable only in fullHD resolution?
    2. I have my lcd instaled as standard pnp monitor maybe there is any drivers for this lcd? I didnt find nothing on thoshiba site.
    3. Maybe graphic card have never drivers? I have last from toshiba site.
    Maybe any other ideas.
    Best Regards

    Hello
Dont worry buddy, thats normal! :)
All LCD monitors only have a very good picture quality and highest sharpness on the highest screen resolution, in your case 1920x1080. All other resolutions are not very sharp due a hardware limitation of this monitor technology. Therefore I can recommend this Wikipedia article:

I think this says everything and so you dont need another monitor or graphic card driver.

  • Highest resolution for external display for late 2012 retina?

I have a 15" late 2012 MBP with retina display.  I'd like to get an external monitor but I'm not sure about the highest resolution for an external display this Mac will support.  It looks like the 4K displays with only work with later models.  So what are you using and how do you like it?
    Thanks
    Amy

Yes, the 2012 MBP w/ Retina Display will support an external 4K display (using the Thunderbolt/mini display port)

  • Qosmio G40-108: starange display issue with highest resolution

I just got mine but on its highest resolution all webpages have these 11 semi-rectangular blocks, barely visible, only the bottoms, each about an inch long, is this normal and should i send it back to be investigated?

    Hello
It is very nice to hear that you already have newest Qosmio notebook. About your issue I can not say much because without one screenshot it is not easy to understand what you mean exactly. On my Qosmio G30 (with the same HD resolution) I have no problems at all. Because of that I can really not understand what is wrong there.
If possible post a link where we can see how it looks like. Your description is not enough.
BTW: have you noticed this on web pages only?

  • I just got a MBP Retina. At it's highest resolution, everything is tiny. The olny way to get things to a readable size is to lower the rez, but that defeats the purpose of having it. Am I missing something?

It doesn't defeat the purpose to lower the resolution. When you choose the size you can read, the extra pixels are used to make the text and graphics more detailed, closer to the high print resolution humans have been accustomed to reading on paper for hundreds of years. That is the difference compared to the coarse screen resolution of a conventional (non-Retina) screen.

  • I want to export a photo with it's highest resolution p/in. What value should I use?

I have a photo that an author would like to publish in a book.  I sent it at a resolution of 300 p/in.  She would like it at the highest resolution possible.  How do I find or determine that value?  The photo was taken with a Nikon 7000.

The ppi setting is only a tag in the file metadata, it does not change the image in any way. It may be used by some printing applications to determine a default print size, but is generally ignored. The ppi box in the LR Export dialog will accept any number from 1 to 65,000, but what really determines resolution is the number of pixels in the image. If you are exporting all the original pixels from the camera less any lost to aesthetic or aspect ratio crops, that is the highest native resolution possible. Resolution can be artificially increased by using the Resize option in Export so that LR will create and add in new pixels - whether or not this causes visible artifacts is largely dependent on the amount of enlargement.
Since your author friend is probably also unaware of the irrelevance of the ppi tag, send her all your native pixels and set an impressively high number for the tag - like 65,000

  • IMovie to iPod - what is the highest resolution setting possible?

I'm creating an iMovie and i want to save it to my 30gb video ipod, and then play it back on a lcd projector to a 12 foot screen (for a presentation in a room full of people). If i use the standard 320x240 resolution, i'm pretty sure it will look very pixelated when shown on a 720p lcd projector on a 12 foot screen.
What is the highest resolution you can save your iMovie to an iPod, and then playback on a high resolution TV? I've tried several settings, but none are recognized by the ipod.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I do not have a laptop (well, not a Mac laptop - bummer), and dragging my 20" imac will be a pain. I always bring backups, so i will also burn DVD and copy to video camera.
Just thought it would be cool to walk and plug in my ipod to the projector. Pretty sure no one in my group has seen that before.
Last question... can i export from imovie with the higher settings, or do i need to save to destop and then export with quicktime?
    Thanks!

  • 24" Imac only showing 2 display resolution options

Within the past week something changed after running a Mac software update that resulted in only having 2 display resolution options. The display choices now are limited to 1900 X 1200 and 960 X 600.  I think this happened after having a Mac software update.  I don't know what the updates were other then they were suggested as part of the automatic software updates check.
Running OS X Lion version 10.7.4.
Graphics =  NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 128 MB.
I have rebooted and checked for additional updates put still only seeing 2 choices.
Is anyone else having this problem or ideas why all the other resolution options disappeared?
    Thanks

Thanks for quick response. I looked as suggested but those listed are older issues and not recent new events.  I guess I will sit back and see if there is a new update coming that fixes issue.  Really madding not being able to re-set resolution to one that I have been using for years.
If anyone else knows background/input on why resolution options would go from at least if not more then 10 to now only having 2 would be great.
    Thanks again.

  • Highest Resolution for an iBook?

The highest resolution for my iBook Graphite 466 Special Edition is currently reading 800x600. Is there any way to bump it up to 1024x768 or am I stuck at 800x600?

Brandon: See "Workarounds of the 800 x 600 resolution on original iBooks" Feb 2, 2009 on this site which suggests two Browsers that allow working around the shortcomings of the 800 X 600 by operating at 80 % image size allowing showing an entire web page. I tried the Opera browser but found the font size too small for my old eyes so have removed it.

  • I am purchasing a laptop with a 4k screen (3200x1800) resolution, will Lightroom work at these levels? what is the highest resolution LR will support?

I am purchasing a laptop with a 4k screen (3200x1800) resolution, will Lightroom work at these levels? what is the highest resolution LR will support?

As Rob has pointed out there is no maximum resolution that LR supports, but performance decreases as resolution increases. I'm using an i7-860 quad core system with a 1920 x1080 (2.1 Megapixel) monitor and LR runs well. A 3200 x1800 (5.8 Megapixel) monitor will require ~2.75 x more processing to render the real-time loupe image in the Develop module. Some people have reported sluggish screen updating when making adjustments in the Develop module with even lower resolution monitors such as 2560x1440. Here's a post that discusses the issue:

  • Highest resolution?

I'm just wondering what the highest resolution is that can be pulled from a mac mini? At the moment I'm using an AOC monitor which is running at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz, but let's say that I got one of the 20, 23 or 30 inch Cinema displays... would all of these work with the mini?
If you have an LCD monitor running at a higher resolution or refresh rate, please post!

  • Is there some setting to obtain the highest resolution photos?

I want to burn to a DVD to show on a large screen and want to get the highest resolution possible in the photos. Are there any settings I need to know about?

iPhoto's Slideshow outputs are pretty limited. With iMovie or an app like PhotoToMovie you can create a slideshow (with more control) with greater output options.

  • Why Are Textures for 3D Layers Not Shown at their Highest Resolution?

Textures shown for objects on 3d layers aren't being rendered at their highest resolution in the viewport. Is there any information on how to fix this? Here is a screenshot:
    CC is noticably fuzzier.

This depends on your graphics hardware's capabilities, the driver settings and the image aspect ratio. if you hardware is unable to retain the full resolution, it will simply downsample the texture... In any case, without some proper technikcal info nobody can tell you more than that.
