L2251p and Presentation Director 4.5

Has anyone tried a monitor with DisplayPort and Presentation Director. I have PD 4.5 and preset schemes in my image. My scheme for a 1680 display says "no monitor attached" when I try to select it. Anybody set one up yet?

Autodiscover and exchange web services point out to server1 (CAS), but when openning the respective webpages, the result is an error.
I have already deleted and recreated the autodiscover and EWS virtual directories but with no success.

Hi Andrey,
Exchange Web Service in Exchange server configuration is working for all users in your Exchange environment, not just for one specific user. If you want to double make sure the EWS service in client side, we can directly access the EWS URL in IE of your
Windows machine, and see whether a proper XML file is returned. If so, then we can safely ignore the web service test result.
As for automatic signature application, do you mean
Add a signature automatically to every message? Please try to remove the signature and reset it again to check whether the issue persists.

What are "emulated" and "removable" storage directories added after 4.2.2 upgrade

Hi
I notice that in addition to the sdcard0, sdcard1 and usbdisk storage directories there are now two more added after the 4.2.2 upgrade, called emulated and removable.
Emulated has two sub-directories called O and legacy. They seem to contain virtual links to the real directories but I can't be sure.
Can anyone explain what they are and whether I need them ?

this stupid version of 4.2.2 that make some nonsence emulated storage that making ppl so troublesome!. dammit. cant even move app 2 sd card fxxx..ik

Can someone help if my mail to Mr.Mark Hurd and Board of Directors is ignored?

I purchased a HP All-in-One printer **bleep** fax, scan and copier - Model No.J 5788. In 16 months time the hinges broke. I found no necessary support from India so I used the tool provided on hp.com to approach Mr.Mark Hurd and Board of Directors, HP. The mail was mechanically acknowledged but no action was taken so I sent three reminders using reply mode of the acknowledgement. Still not responded, I called up the office of Mr.Mark Hurd at U.S. from India. The Operator told me that I have to speak to CEO Customer Relations and she diverted my call to someone who told she was an executive. The executive told me that I have to contact India office.
If HP India office, ignore complaint and my mail sent to Mr.Mark Hurd and Board of Directors, do Mr.Mark Hurd or any of Directors on Board, HP don't look in to my complaint?
My complaint and contention is a hinges have to be made of Engineering plastics like ABS and if so done, they would not break for years. It seems the hinges HP supply are made of Bakelite. I asked HP about their specification for use of raw material for making Hinges. I do not know whether HP has specified im-proper raw material to make hinges or some vendor is taking HP for ride? I want HP Board of Directors to look in to it.
Another grievance is, HP provide tool to approach Mr.Mark Hurd and Board of Directors on hp.com but HP India do not provide a tool or email ids or telephone numbers of HP executive to look in to serious complaints. How HP is going to improve products, improve manufacturing process or redressing customer complaints if complaints are not looked into by concerned executives?
It seems that HP does not have any moral standards yet want to claim that they are most ethical company.
Could someone tell me, how to approach Mr.Mark Hurd or Board of Directors sucessfully?

IPhoto '11 and network home directories

Hi,
We are using iPhoto '11 and network home directories which live on a SMB file server. When a user attempts to run iPhoto they get the following error: "Warning. The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported."
iPhoto '09 works fine in our environment, and if the library is relocated to the Macintosh HD > Users > Shared directory it can be loaded. This appears to be a new bug in iPhoto '11. Am i correct?

iPhoto was never designed for a network environment. It's low end user application. If you want an image management application this is designed from networks and multi users you'll need a DAM (digital asset management) application like Media Expression.

NetConnection and NetStream in Director: Is it impossible to have more than one incoming Stream?

Hi there,
I'm working on a Director 11.5 video chat for 3 people. You shall see your webcam video as a little and the two you are connected with as a big video panel. So good so far, I managed to show my own webcam video without streaming it and managed to see one of the others as an incoming stream.
The problem is: as soon as there's a second script initiating a second InStream (no matter how I name it), only the one with the lower sprite number shows it's stream. When I disable the script for this lower sprite, then the second one is playing, so it can't be due to an incorrect script.
I already emilinated two misstakes which made it not working at all at the beginning:
First I tried to use the NetConnection object (for sending my own video stream, works fine) also for creating an input stream. That didn't work. It's a different scene where I set up and play the inStreams (I made the NetConnection object global). So now I set up a new NetConnection for each stream: one outStream and two inStreams.
First I also used only one swf member and made several sprites of it. This didn'Ät work at all, also using the same behavior for the two other-perople-players. So i copied ad pasted the swf and also the behavior. I also renamed every variable in the second behavior with a "2" at the end, just to be sure.
Then it worked at least - but still only for one inStream.
The architecure of my Director film is the following:
I've got two scenes. First scene is an input field to type your name and a "connect" button. Behind this button there's a behavior setting a connection to the server (by using a swf sprite which isn't visible yet) and sending my webcam video and name to the server. This part works fine.

Second scene consists of three swf sprites - one is to show my own webcam video directly from PC. This one already existed in the first scene, for I have to use a swf for setting up a NetConnection. The second and third swf sprites are connected to a behavior script which sets up a new connection (in exitFrame, with a bool variable "firsttime" to make sure it only happens once).
I also have two drop down field each below a partner chat swf. Here I show all people who are logged in at the server, it automatically updates. The one you chose in the drop down is the video you will see in the swf sprite above. Thid works fine (if it works with the inStream).
The script for playing the own webcam video is placed at the first frame of the second scene and only refers to the swf for my own video (which already occurs in scene 1). Well, that's all I think. I'll post the code for the two partner player swf here. Please have a look at it to find a misstake - or maybe again it's some strange Director behavior (like two sprites of one member didn't work) which I cannot think of...

Update from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 and lost all users and their home directories

My server has been working flawlessly for many months. I did the upgrade to 10.5.6 and everything has been fine. I decided to do the software update to 10.5.8. When it was finished I could not log in as admin or anyone else. I finally got in as root...then it gave me an error in Workgroup Manager. Said I was not logged in and there was an error of -14008.
All my users are gone and so is their home directories....I hate to say it but this is ridiculous...doing a simple update and losing all the users? I expect this from Windows but not my xSERVER.
Does anyone have a fix to correct this? I really hate having to tell all the users tomorrow morning a simple update wiped all their data.

I saw your issue and I feel your pain. I did the same upgrade path to 10.6 and found that I had no users!. This is not your typical apple upgrade, the same as all other 10-X from day one. I cheated and used a new drive as I feel that upgrades may cause issues and I also used that as an opportunity to upgrade to a larger hard drive. After booting up on the new system with the upgraded drive I found the same issue to be true. I used the original drive, modified all my users to allow my new admin account to have rights to a user that I called 'move' on the old system. I booted up the old system modified all the users to allow user 'move' then I copied them to the new directory I set up that I called 'move' on the old drive, The next step I set up a new user 'move' on the new system drive and copied all the data from the old system drive 'move' to the new system drive 'move' I created all of my users on the new system drive. I set up all of my user accounts with a simple password 123456 on the new system I copied the users to there new directory. You could restore your backup on spare drive or an external drive with the old OS loaded. Postits on all the users monitors for Monday morning and... grumbling users with all of the data from Friday, get KrispyCreams and leave by the coffee pot [this step i forgot]. The users will talk about how nice it was that you brought doughnuts and not how there login is messed up [ha ha....}
I know that this is not an elegant or a quick solution but it worked for me and my 36 user accounts. If you know Unix script or Python or Apple script the procedures would be faster as you could batch the whole mess.

Key-based SSH Authentication and AFP Home Directories

I'm setting up some users with AFP home directories (hosted on an Xserve, with a couple of G5 towers as Open Directory clients). When logging in on the console on a G5 tower, the home directories work fine. The users can SSH into the Xserve using SSH key authentication. However, the users can not SSH into the G5 towers using SSH key authentication, and are instead asked for passwords - presumably because the AFP home directory is mounted with guest access (and thus the keys are unreadable) before the password is entered.
Is there a known workaround for this? A different way of setting up the home directory mounting? I don't particularly want to go the mobile home directory route, because (among other things), as far as I know, mobile home directories only sync when a user logs into the GUI. If that's not the case (that is, if they will sync when a user logs into the machine with SSH), then I guess that would be a reasonable solution.

That was just speculation on my part; I'm not sure exactly what's happening. I do know that until the user authenticates, the entire automount is mounted with guest access... and that the user can't authenticate until the key file can be read. It may be the case that I was just encountering some transient failure or the like, however.

I found two unknown directories on my PC in my user profile. I have, so far, been unable to identify what put them there, which process owns them, and when I delete them (using Admin escalated privileges) they come back after a few minutes or immediately
after reboot.

It was time, anyway, so I wiped the drive using factory low-level overwriting and performed a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro using a freshly downloaded ISO from Microsoft; one with an ESD distribution, written to a new just out-of-the-bedamned-hardshell-plastic
flashdrive..
I just completed the clean install, in this sequence:
Boot to flashdrive and let Windows create partitions then install. Reboot. Check AppData; no folders found.
Activate. Check AppData; no folders found.
Run first Update; install everything except Bing Bar and Desktop.    Check AppData; no folders found. Reboot. Check AppData; no folders found.
Add Feature Windows Media Center. Check AppData; no folders found. Reboot. Check AppData; no folders found.
Run Updates a second time. Check AppData; no folders found. Reboot. Check AppData; no folders found.
Remove MS C++ v12 x86 and x64 installed during Update.    Check AppData; no folders found. Reboot. Check AppData; no folders found.
Download from MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/default) Redistributables MS C++ x86 and x64, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.4 versions, and install in sequence. Check AppData
after each install; no folders found. Reboot after each install and check AppData; no folders found.
Run Updates a third time. Response was No Updates Available. Check AppData; no folders found.
Reboot. Check AppData; all four sub-directories are now present.
These sub-directories and dat-files are not, so far, present in the AppData\Roaming directory.
There is nothing except Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and the 10 MS C++ packages installed; and MS Silverlight and AMD (videocard) Catalyst Control Center on the machine. Windows Defender is present but is installed as part of Windows 8 and 8.1;
and its' updates are provided via the MS Update process. All - repeat ALL of these items are provided by Microsoft.
My questions are: What are the Emie directories for; what program created them, and what does the various container.dat files "contain"? And . . . if not absolutely necessary, How do I get rid of them and keep them from coming back?

Permissions are Full for System, USERNAME, and group Administrators. The USERNAME is the Owner, and Effective Permissions for each of the 3 is Full.

BOTH Files and Directories are no longer Hidden. The Directories still show that the files within are READ-Only, but checking the actual file shows that it is no longer R-O.
I then deleted each of the 4 directories and closed Windows (File) Explorer.
After less than 3 minutes reading pages on the internet (at Microsoft's Ask Windows Community), I opened Windows Explorer to check and found that the sub-directories had re-created themselves in both the Local and LocalLow directories.
The container.dat files were back in the Local sub-dir and after another few minutes, also back in the LocalLow sub-dir.
Both the sub-directories and the container.dat files are once again Super-Hidden.
Analysis using Windows utilities and SysInternals and NirSoft tools have not identified which object or process or service owns these objects.
ADDED: My system is a home system, not connected to any work domain via VPN or otherwise. WHY is the Windows Update Team not spending time to implement condition-and-error-checking to ensure that unneeded updates, services, and changes are not made
without the system owner/operator permission? Further, WHY is this particular issue so hard to find info about; what is being kept from customers and why?

JFileChooser incredibly slow both to initialize and to change directories

I have searched the forums for this and haven't found anything useful. I have the following code running in jre1.6.0_07:

     getModel().load(objFileChooser.getSelectedFile().getAbsolutePath());the first line takes upwards of 20-30 seconds or more to get past when debugging - I don't know how long it takes when running without the debugger however the application does sit for a while after pressing the hotkey to activate the actionlistener. That's a problem, but if that was the only thing, I would do as another post suggested and initialize the jFileChooser from a separate thread during the initialization of the window or application...however, I also run into an issue whenever I change directories where it takes a subset of the initialization time(maybe 10-15 seconds instead of 20-30) to change the directory. This happens in both System and Cross-Platform Look and Feel-s.
I've looked into the issue with zip files and there are no (0) zip files(or archives of any kind) in the initial directory(My Documents folder). There is a small delay going to My Computer through Windows normally but it may be 1-2 seconds at most, and only sometimes. Notepad opens the Load / Save Dialogs within milliseconds and while I do understand Java is not Notepad, I'm willing to accept a few seconds (like maybe 5 or so), but not 20-30. I also looked into potentially using JDK 7 however I can't seem to get Eclipse to work with it and it consistently uses the JDK 6.
If a solution can not be found to this, then is there a way to hook into the dialog/control in order to change the mouse cursor to the 'wait' cursor and change it back when the directory is ready? I'd like to provide some communication to the user. Thanks!

I did include a "Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable Example Program (SSCCE)" in my initial posting; and I also included Code Formatting as everyone can see. I've been a programmer for over 10 years, closer to 15 and have almost 8 years experience with Java so I'm not about to ask a question without investigating the solution on my own first(to avoid wasting people's time. Admittedly all I posted was the snippet but that entire snippet could be put within Main like this below and it would be exactly the same without the waste of space. The machine I have running / developing this on is: Athlon 64 3000, 1 GB RAM, about 13 or 14 total hard drive partitions and removable media drives, running under Windows XP SP2. I can even eliminate the Choosable Filter in the example as I do below and the JFileChooser takes (31 seconds on average over 5 iterations, I timed it after I originally posted this) to fully display the dialog and all files and deliver control back to the user. That is unacceptable and one can not deny that it's the class itself when FileDialog runs significantly faster and programs outside of Java executing the standard XP File Dialog run even faster still. If this code is not good enough, I don't know how much shorter or self contained I can make this code example without removing the configuration lines between the initialization and that would defeat my cause as I need the Look and feel customization and prefer not writing my own File Chooser Dialog. Here's the code w/ the main function and all.

OpenSSH, SFTP and Chroot home directories

Morning all,
I'm wanting to setup SFTP in a chroot, which is simply enough to do and I already have it working; however I also want it so that when they connect via SFTP it goes directly to their home directory. Currently I have the following in "/etc/ssh/sshd_config":
Subsystem sftp internal-sftp
Match Group sftp-users
ChrootDirectory /home
AllowTCPForwarding no
ForceCommand internal-sftp
Which works perfectly fine, however when they connect there are shown the contents of the "/home" directory which they then have to "cd username" to get to their home directory. This I do not like, and it confuses our clients who connect saying they can see "random folders that aren't mine", or some that think they've "hacked" the server.
I really need it so upon connection they go to "username" directory. I can do this by using:
usermod -d /username username
Which changes the users home directory to "/username", and then upon connection it works just fine, they are taken directory to their home directory. However, I really really do not like the fact that "/etc/passwd" shows a different home directory to their real home directory, i.e it states "/username" when actually it is "/home/username".
I've spent the entire day looking a different ways of doing it, and I can't come up with anything.
Any help?

I think I have same problem. I think it is because of your user's home directory and your chroot. When you chroot you can no longer redirect people to their home directories because they are outside the chroot (to a program running inside the chroot)...clearly I'm bad at explaining stuff so I'll try an example:
home dir = /home/bob
chroot = /home
When the user gets chrooted (into /home) the /home becomes /
Then ssh tries to send them to their home in /home/bob (or to the un-chrooted /home/home/bob). This file doesn't exist so it leaves them in / (/home to the un-chrooted).
Unfortunately, I have not found a way to have my cake and eat it too. If you change their home dir you will mess up the local but fix the sftp, if you leave the local you will still have the messed up sftp.
If they are not logging on locally this isn't a problem. Just change their home in /etc/passwd to /$user. NOTE: you will not be able to change the home dir's through the normal user account modifying tools because they won't let you change it to a non-existent dir.

Presentation Director 4.01/4.03/4.04/4.08 won't install on T60 - IKernel.exe goes to 2gb (!) memory

Well the subject says it all. I'm trying to install Presentation Director 4.01, which System Update told me was available (I currently have 4.0). It starts installing but eventually gets an error in tpinsnpd.dll. So I tried to manually install it and I noticed that IKernel.exe goes all the way up to 2gb memory used, then chugs for a while and EVENTUALLY gets the failure that I had originally seen.
Has anyone else seen this? I would have expected others to report this by now.

The back button won't activate till the second change. I have uninstalled and removed all directories for firefox still won't work after reintall

I have firefox 3.6 installed and have been using it for years. All the sudden last week the back button wouldn't work till I go to the second web address change. For example if I start at forums.sagetv.com and select a post I can't hit the back button till I select another article. I have uninstalled firefox deleted all the directories, rebooted and reinstalled the problem still comes back.

I started having this EXACT same issue a few day ago. I found out that it was the McAfee site advisor causing the problem. Click the Tools drop-down and select add-ons. In the add-ons window, click the Extensions panel. Select McAfee and disable it.

Disable auto feature of Presentation Director

I set up Presentation Director to *always* do a clean desktop and presentation. Now, I don't like that setting. But when I invoke Presentation Director (to change it), it automatically changes the display. I know this is what I asked it to do, but how do I turn it off?
Alternatively, is there a way to disable Presentation Director entirely, so that I can just do Fn-F7 to cycle through the "normal" internal/external display settings?

Hey everyone, I just got some X201's in and when they got rolled out to users I found out that the settings for "When Notebook is docked - Immediately apply this display scheme" and the ability to create new Schemes are gone. I've been browsing the Lenovo site and they don't have a page specific to Presentation Director, or do they keep a page for versioning/changes that I can find. Anyone have any idea on how to get those options back?
