L420 Screen Brightness does not change with Function Keys

I have installed the latest driers and since then I am unable to change the screen brightness using function keys. I have installed multiple driver updates hence it is difficult to find out which driver is causing the issue. Any pointers in this regards would be a good help.

The newest Intel HD driver (from Intel) is causing this issue. Uninstall it and reinstall the driver provided from Lenovo.

Bootcamp screen brightness does not work.

Hello, i can't adjust my screen brightness at all.... I hit the fn and f2/f1 buttons and the brightness icon appears and the bar goes down and up normally but the screen brightness does not change. i also tried changing the brightness in the bootcamp control panel and nothing happens. I can't find any solution for this problem anywhere, so I figured i'd give it a try and ask here how can i fix this.
I'm using: Windows 7 - x64 on a macbook pro 2009 with bootcamp updated to version 3.3.

Click on the start icon (bottom left of your screen) and search "Brightness" click on the adjust brightness thing. Hope this helped.

There is no default restriction password. If you didn't set it someone else may have. If you can't find it then you may have to follow the steps here:
Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or ...
Do you have a backup which might not have this restriction passcode? If so restore to that backup?

Cursor does not change with tool selection

Has anybody experienced this? My cursor suddenly does not change with the selection of tools when working on photos. Once I roll over the picture the arrow is lost and becomes a strange 3 small things, so can't do any work accurately. Still using PS 7 in Win 7. This was not a problem previously. Already uninstalled and reinstalled and problem is still there. I have searched for where this can be fixed. So far no luck. Any suggestions?

First answer, PS 7, not Elements. Second answer, BIG THANKS, the dpi change corrected the problem.
It was an odd issue as PS was working fine for years and then suddenly the problem occured, even though I had not changed the dpi recently.

I am developing on ADF BC, 10.1.3.2, on 17" monitor. Every thing looks fine on my system.
However, when I deploy the package on a 15" monitor, all screens does not fit within the explorer screen... Why ... Any settings is missing ....

Well, first think I did was this action. However, the client does not like that resolution, since you see very small fonts. Now, do I have to re-design every thing for the lower resolution or any settings exists to change globally ... windows.height and windows.width... or anything else.

Screen resolution does not change back after using a projector

Hi!
My office uses several different models of macbooks, but there is a small problem with all the Airs. When I have been using them with a projector I have to change back the screen resolution manually (go to the system settings and change resolution). On the macbook pros, however, the desktop restores themselves as soon as the projector is disconnected. It seems to me that this should be the standard behaviour of all macs, does anyone know why it is not working on the Airs?

I had this problem on a MacBook and resolved it by recreating some plist files.
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.xxxxxxxxxxxx.plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.preference.displays.xxxxxxxxx.plist
The xxxx's are your machine's EthernetID (MAC Address). I wouldn't delete, rather just move them to your Desktop and restart the computer. See if that resolves it.

AR Aging Report does not change with Posting, Due, and Document selections

It appears to me that when you run the AR Aging report with the same date ranges in each of the date selection fields, Posting, Due and Doument, you do not get a different display of aging buckets. Does this report always display data based on Due Date?

Date format does not change with the Regional and Language Options in 2008

I have a one-column report that was created using the SQL "select current_date" in postgres. (Thinks select getdate() ).
In Crystal Reports XI when I change the "Standards and Formats" of Regional Options to:
English (United States) the date is in the format mm/dd/yy
English (Canada) the date is in the format dd/mm/yy
Japan the date is in the format yyyy/mm/dd
In Crystal Reports 2008 when I change the "Standards and Formats" of Regional Options to:
English (United States) the date is in the format mm/dd/yy
English (Canada) the date is in the format mm/dd/yy
Japan the date is in the format mm/dd/yy
It doesn't change. Is this a bug?

hey Jason,
i am going through some of the old forum posts and saw that no one replied to your language options post.
for cr 2008, there are language packs for the applicable languages. there are advantages for this as you can save installation space with the option of installing language packs for each language that you want the designer application to be in.
you have seen the disadvantage as it doesn't work the same as before.
you do not need the language packs for testing though. in the crystal reports View menu, switch up to the Product Viewing Locale to test objects which are using "system" settings such as dates.
if you do wish to install any language packs so that you can change up the actual language in the designer, go to your install media. in the install files "\package\langs\" directory, you will see a folder for each language that you need. install the desired language(s).
once you have installed a language pack and then restart the cr designer, you will now have the additional language in the View > Product Locale.
so in summary...Product Locale will change the language of the whole designer...language packs are needed for this.
Preferred System Locale can be used to test languages without having to change your windows system settings.

Wi-Fi is grayed out in Settings. Does not change with a full restore.

After charging my iPad 1, 3G it started with a message to do a full restore. After restoring with a mac and loading all current software it will not access the wi-fi. In the settings panel it is gray and says "No Wi-Fi" next to the Wi-Fi Icon in the settings panel and the "Network" tab in "General". I went to the "Reset" tab and "Rest Network Settings" and did a reset there. Still no luck. Went to the Geek Squad (only support open on a holiday), and the guy called over the other guy and said, "Have you ever seen this before?" They also tried to look it up online and sent me away with "You better call Apple on this one." Any ideas? (And of course it is 1 yr and 3 months old.)

OWB version does not change with Oracle database 11.1.0.7 patch

This is Kumar and I have just completed applying Oracle database 11.1.0.7 patch (p6890831_111070_Linux-x86-64.zip) on top of Oracle 11.1.0.6 database on RedHat Linux machine. After successful installation, I have issues below statement to check the validity and version of the installed components.
select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
I could see all the component's version as 11.1.0.7 except OWB component's version which is still *11.1.0.6.0* and status is VALID
Could you please let me know what went wrong in my installation? or Is this behavior expected one?

You can run the OWB health check script (download from metalink) to the configuration.

SQL Login "disabled" flag does not work with asymmetric key??

If I create a normal interactive SQL login, the Disabled flag for the login controls whether that user can log in with the login name and password. For example,
ALTER LOGIN MyUser DISABLE
will prevent anyone from logging in with this MyUser login.
However if I create a SQL login FROM ASYMMETRIC KEY, the Disabled flag for the login seems to have no effect. For example, assemblies in executable files from which the asymmetric key was created can still be used even if the login is "disabled".
Is this by design? If so, why?
It would seem to me that if a login is disabled, no rights granted to that login should be accessible, including "GRANT EXTERNAL ACCESS ASSEMBLY TO ..." and "GRANT UNSAFE ASSEMBLY TO..."
(I suspect that disabling a login will also have no effect on execution of stored procedures signed with that login's asymmetric key either, though I have not test this.)
Can someone please comment on this behavior?

Disabling a Login has no effect on Permissions.
The only thing it prevents, is the interactive process of “logging in”.
That Login can still be impersonated also. – And this is in fact important to know(!).

OK, we've got it!
What is happening is that when you use Microsoft's save as PDF in Word, the font isn't embedded even though the font is tagged to allow embedding. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't properly put the font name into the PDF file such that Acrobat or Reader can readily find the font installed on your system such that the text can be properly displayed and/or printed. Acrobat and Reader attempt to display and/or print the text using a “substitution font” and of course, as they say, YMMV (“your mileage may vary”)!
I personally submitted the report of this problem (both the embedding and the font name problem) to Microsoft. They acknowledge the bug, tried a fix and provided me a build with it, but it wasn't right. Maybe they will ultimately fix it, maybe they won't. We don't know yet. We do know that if it is fixed, it will be fixed only for Office 2013 (problem occurs with all Office applications since they use the same PDF generation code) and thus such a fix won't help you.
Adobe Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro both provide an Adobe PDFMaker plug-in to Office applications (including full support for Office 2010) that adds an Acrobat Toolbar as well as a Save as Adobe PDF menu item. The resultant PDF file fully supports embedding of OpenType CFF, TrueType, and Type 1 fonts and in many other ways produces much superior PDF with a full range of PDF generation options not available with the Microsoft PDF. (Note that beginning with Office 2013, Microsoft does not support Type 1 fonts in Office documents at all, even for existing documents!) The Acrobat Office functions are widely used and respected in the end user community and whatever “issues” there are (all software has “issues” of some type - it is a matter of how many and how severe), you should be in much better shape for PDF production that with what you currently are using.

I am on a PC with a Intel i7 1366 4 physical cores and 8 threads, 24 Gig of DDR memory, A Crucial 512 Gig SSD and a NVIDIA GTX 570 with 2 Gig of memory.
The document size is 2100 by 1500 Pixels at 300 PPI only two layers

I have the Apple MC184LL/A Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard. The brigtness control works with mine, as do most of the other functions.
Try cycling the keyboard off and on. Hold the power button until the green LED goes out. Then press it one more time to turn it back on.
You might try resetting the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. Then you may need to reconnect your WiFi and Bluetooth.
If that doesn't help, try resetting/rebooting the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart in a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
