L440 Clickpad - "Tap to click" function not working in "Trackpoint Only" mode
On a fresh Window 7 install it is possible to tap-to-click when using the Trackpoint rather than pressing down on the Clickpad (which is *very* noisy compared to the X220/X230 buttons and requires far more force). This is very nice alternative to using the Clickpad for left/middle/right button clicks when using the Trackpoint only. It requires almost no force, it generates zero noise and is very comfortable.
Unfortunately, upon installing the Synaptics Ultranav drivers from Lenovo SU, this function is no longer present! You MUST click down the Clickpad otherwise it is not possible to register a left/right/middle click when using the Trackpoint.
Even with Touchpad enabled this functionality is not present, which is quite baffling because you would expect that when the Trackpoint is used, the touchpad should behave as mouse buttons + gestures + scroll zones.
I remember that there were plenty of tricks that could be done through registry entries to enable/disable "hidden" functions of the Synaptics driver. Is there a knowledge base that I could browse and find out if there is a way of enabling the tap-to-click feature when using only the Trackpoint?

sorry for not getting back to you quicker, had a job getting hold of an L440.
When I received the system it had driver version 16.6.4.27 installed and tapping worked as expected. After updating to driver version 18.0.7.99 tapping also worked.
Which driver version did you receive from SystemUpdate?

Tap to click does not work. Is there no solution?
I have XP SP3 with the latest 2.1.1 update. Tapping doesn't work. Keyboard backlight does not work. Eject does not work. Scrolling is hyper active even with mouse set to 1 click scroll. But worst of all, NO MOUSE CLICK.
If there is a special setting to make, please let me know. I can live with the other problems but not being able to tap is extremely irritating.
Help! Any Apple Certified Techs out there?For those who care to know, the tap to click pretty much does NOT work at all no matter what version of Windows you have.
I called tech support twice today. The first "expert" told me to try using XP service pack 2. He claimed his tap function worked during his training program.
I said OK and proceeded to erase and reinstall the whole thing. No go.
The second tech reviewed my case number and flat out said, "we don't support windows, I can't help you". I understand that some things are beyond the scope of support but to me, this was an apple boot camp issue. Every salesperson I spoke to said it was no problem. There are problems. Probably to be fixed at a later date, however, it is obviously not a priority.
I do have some good news. I discovered that spyware programs such as Webroot Spy Sweeper seem to make the bootcamp manager crash (you'll see a popup at startup).
But if you just reinstall bootcamp again it will rebuild the drivers and should work.
Also, you can reduce the amount of hyper scrolling across the trackpad by setting the mouse click wheel to 1 (3 by default) in control panel. Be sure to check out the bootcamp panel and enable stuff like the fn keys.
I am now considering Parallels as a solution. If it runs inside OSX then maybe it won't suffer the trackpad issues.
I am staying with SP2 until someone says SP3 is better. Anyone else have any thoughts? -
Solved problem of too sensitive "tap to click" function on "magic" trackpad
After futzing around I found a solution for myself. I started using my ring finger to move around and my index finger to click or just stuck with the ring finger for everything. I got rid of those unwanted annoying false clicks this way using the tap to click function. I haven't figured out the physiology of why this works for me.

Safe boot will tell if it is interference with third party plug-in and extensions. The guest account problem is telling us it is a global problem and not just isolated to your admin account.
Given the information the MAc is 5 days new, I would just return it for one that worked trouble free out of the box.

My right click is not working and producing the context menu or ability to drag files and folders. I just spoke with a phone support person and we checked that all the mouse/trackpad options for right click were correct and checked.

Control-clicking does not work in Finder
Ever since installing the 10.4.5 update, control-clicking does not work in Finder. When I try to do it, Finder automatically restarts itself. This happens in any Finder window and on the desktop itself. Whether I am control-clicking an Application icon or trying to 'Get Info' on a file, Finder restarts itself. I repaired permissions and it did not fix the problem.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks a lot!

Edit: Nevermind. I fixed it by deleting the JIMZip.plugin file in my Contexual Menu folder. I found the answer in another thread. I apologize for searching after I created this thread.David,
Can you identify any corrupted or incompatible files in either your Macintosh HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder, or your Macintosh HD/Users/yourhomefolder/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder?
If so you may be able to uninstall/reinstall the associated application.
You may also consider temporary manual removal and isolation of the suspect file to verify CM functionality.

I still have an issue in one of the hotspot click feature.

Right-click funcionality not working in assessment mode. I NEED HELP!
Hi - I've recently created a number of assessment recordings. The right-click function works as I'm recording as well as when preview the project and then after I publish it. However, when I give it to a colleague(s) to demo it, for some reason the assessment isn't recognizing her right-click and she gets stuck. We're both running the same IE, flash and windows versions so I am really a at a loss on this one. Has anyone ever encountered the same problem and if so what did you do to fix it?! Thanks a million!

I recommend you to run Apple Hardware Test > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509 It's possible that something is damaged, and Apple Hardware Test will help you finding it. Make sure you tick the option to run an extended test, and connect your Mac to the charger.

Not able to sign into Blackberry Protect. Backup and Restore function not working. Message is: "Your device isn't associated with a Blackberry ID." My Blackberry Messenger and Blackberry World is working fine so I am sure its not an ID issue on the phone. I can sign into Link, Blackberry.com and Protect. I see my device in Protect but cannot send messages or view it on a map. Times out with cannot reach device message. BB Protect on Device has a swirling circle beside the on/of switch. Go to Solution.I managed to figure this out myself. I had to delete the device from the Blackberry Protect website. protect.blackberry.com. I wiped my device again and signed in with my Blackberry ID. I dont know if the step of wiping was necessary as I did not try my backup with the current configuration on the device following the delete. Restore is in progress for me!

Try closing and opening NWDS. If you still see the same problem, simple solution for this is, Just Change Workspace to new folder.
Changing workspace - Window -> Workbench -> workspace -> give new path.
Close nwds and open it again. It should solve the problem.

Right clicking is not working on any of the websites. I read up that it's a Yahoo sidebar issue. But, in my extentions, Yahoo sidebar is not there. I had removed all toolbars, but from 'view' menu. Now how do I get my right click to work?

In "Show more Bookmarks" if I right click does not work (I want to open in a new tab)
This is using Mac Firefox current version. I use lots of tabs and don't have space for all of them so there is a >> at the right end for clicking and displaying the rest of them. If I click and display list and highlight one of them, the right click does not work - I want to open in a new tab not use the existing - there are no menu options displayed on these tabs. The tabs across the top work fine for this
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
