L530 system board FRU location

Hi,
I've got a L530 that's been exposed to a glass of soda, with the oh-so-familiar result: instant death. I've been looking at buying a replacement system board, but I can't seem to find a similar one in the parts lookup.
Entering the serial number and model number in the parts lookup I get the following system board:
04Y2024
FRU PLN Int 15D w/WW TPM=Y
In the service parts list, however, there is no system board with that FRU: http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/l430_and_l530_fru_bom_20121018.xls.pdf
I figure that the following matches:
04W6661
Planar Card Asm HM76 Integrated 15W Dock, WWAN TPM Win8-pro
Am I right? Will the 04W6661 fit?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, runejuhl
Thank you for the information in the private message. According to your serial number, the systemboard that is in your machine is FRU 04W6661, which was one of your original thoughts on the matter.
Hope it helps,
Adam

    Hi there,
I kind of sip over a little coffee over my laptop and now it beeps : 1-3-3-1 which means : either the DIMM or the System board is over.
I doubt it is the DIMM, so it must be the system board. I started dissassamble the rack, however it seems a tough job to find the FRU of the system board.
It is NOT under the main battery, and NOT under the DIMM, So, where is it ?
Parts lookup of lenovo doesnt give any help about my S/N + ModelNr
Any help will be appreciateted .
PS I dissassembled it just before the fan assembly...

  • Will an X230t system board fit in the standard X230?

Related to my other post about my 2306CTO X230 no longer powering up:  if I happen to find a replacement system board for the X230t tablet version, will it fit in my standard X230?
The FRU for my system board is 04Y1670.  Might have located a reasonably-priced replacement for an X230t, FRU 04W6804.
    Thanks!

If you use a dremel, maybe, but I recommend you to buy a X230 (non-Tablet) system board.

The DC conncector mounted on the system brd where the AC Adapter connects to the laptop. Does anybody know the part number for that. It is a failure I see in many of the t40 series laptop but I have not been able to locate a part number. It does not come with the system board.

  • Time Machine Issue with new system board.

OK MAC Fans here is an issue that I discovered with Time Machine (TM).
First I have a 17” MacBookPro that has two 1TB external HDs and a 30” monitor attached to it.
Something happened to my system and the system board had to be replaced.
The Mac was sent to TX and a new system board was put in it and the very latest OS (10.5.2) was installed on the hard drive.
The Apple store added my profile so you think everything would be good?
    Wrong!
None of my applications made it through.
But I was thinking let just use Time Machine to restore them. WRONG in a way.
The first thing I did when I got home was set up TM. I pointed TM to the external HD that has all of the previous backup files and TM wanted to backup the system. During the backup I notice that TM created a new directory for the backup files.
The name of the directory was the name of my MAC. The old directory was also the name of my MAC but with the new OS software release it was stated that you could not use any special characters when naming your MAC or TM may not recognize your backup files (there is a note on this under support).
The new name is FirstnameLastnameMacBookPro17 the old name was Firstname Lastname’s MacBookPro 17”. TM created a new directory named FirstnameLastnameMacBookPro17 and this was the only files that are visible in TM.
I deleted the new directory and renamed my MAC back to the old name and TM created a NEW directory with the old name. Now there were 2 directories with the same “old” name. I can not get TM to use the old directory and display the old backup files.
I was able to drag and drop the files and applications I needed from the previous backup folders back to where I needed them to be so all is not lost but I can not restore files from TM.
Also I renamed my MAC back to FirstnameLastnameMacBookPro17 and TM automatically changed the name of the new directory to the new name.
I tried to drag old backup folders from the old TM directory to the new TM directory but received an error that the files can not be modified.
The only thing that I can think is that when the system board was replaced TM got confused and did not recognize it as the same system. So now I am starting my backup history all over again. The old backup files are good, the only thing is that I have to drag and drop items I want from those folders to the location I want. I can not use the old backup files in TM.
Dose any one have a magic pill (red or blue) I can take to make the old files visible in TM?

I decided not to worry about the syncing my TM. I was just at the Apple store and they have decided to replace my MacBookPro. I am going to start my backups on the new system all over again. I know I can drag and drop files that I want from the old files to the new system if I want and that will be go enough.

  • W530 System Board Picture Request (for accelerometer type)

I'm looking for the inscription (make/model) of the APS chip (accelerometer) for the W530. My haunch is that it's an Analog Devices ADXL325. The location should be at item C in the image below from the 530 System Board Assembly page. Any help would be appreciated! I'm also curious to know if this is being used in other 4/500 series systems and elsewhere in the Thinkpad line.
    What's on your Thinkpad? T42 2379-R9U, T61 6460-DWU, W530 2436

Version 2.02 of the Maintenance Utily does not give the options shown in the T440 Maintenance manual.
Using version 1.83 gives option compatible with the manual but it is requesting a serial starting with 1S and has 16 characters
    Would appreciate some help

  • HP 2510p - May Need New System Board

An attempt was made to dock the notebook while the power connector was connected to the laptop.
It connected but was out of alignment with the dock. Now when power is tuned on, the front LED’s all come on, after ~ 15 seconds the disc drive LED goes out and nothing else happens. The display never comes on. Could this burn out the system board and the processor? I can get a new system board, they were shipped with one of three CPU speeds; are the CPU’s interchangeable to any of the boards or do the boards have to be replaced with same that is in the system?
    Thanks
    System board options:
Equipped with Intel Core Duo U7700 (1.33-GHz) processor (533-MHz FSB and 2-MB L2 cache) 464764-001

    Hello Consti.
If you used the product number of the notebook to search for parts then any of those should work.
I can double check for you if you provide me with the product number.  This document can show you where it is located.
    Have a great weekend!

  • How can you brand a serial number onto the system board?

I just replaced a system board and need to brand it with the appropriate serial number.  How do I accomplish that?  I have software to run when I do that with Dells or Lenovos.  How can I do it with an HP?

    Hi:
You cannot tattoo a HP notebook. It has to be done by an authorized HP tech service center where they have a DMI tool for that which is not available to the public.
You can tattoo some HP business desktops with this software, link below. It might work on HP consumer desktops but I don't know since I have never tried it on one.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12...
This program makes a bootable floppy disk, and cannot be installed via any other method than a FDD or USB FDD.
It works on many other HP business desktops other than those listed. It has been used successfully in PC's up to a couple years old.

  • Z77A-GD65 power issue/bad system board?

Looking for advice. I am afraid its a bad board, but some symptoms point at power which also makes no sense.
This is what the WHOLE system should look like.
    MSI Z77A-GD65 system board
    Intel 3770K 3.5Ghz
    Anted Kuhler H20 620
    G.Skills RipJaws 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL (on the test list)
Asus nVidia GTX 680 video card
    OCX Vertex 3 256MB SSD
    Seagate 500GB data drive
    Razer Lycosa Keyboard
    Razer DeathAdder Mouse
Antec Sonata IV case with Neo ECO 620W power supply
It seems to me that 620W should be more than enough. According to my calculations thats roughly 330W of power draw against a 620W powersupply.
I am not currently over clocking.
So what the system does look like is:
If I connect the 500GB drive then windows starts rebooting as soon as the Windows logo comes up.
If I place all four sticks of RAM in the system windows starts rebooting as soon as the Windows logo comes up.
If I leave the 500GB standard sata drive off and only use 3 sticks of RAM... well we get a solid system and I am writing this message on it.
3 sticks of ram appear to work in any 3 slots and allow the system to boot, except 1,3,4. That combo also resulted in the reboots at the windows logo.
I first thought it was RAM, originally I was using Corsair Vengeance. I saw some posts here about people having the same problem, and noted that the Corsiar RAM was not tested and switch to a the tested G.Skill instead.
Any ideas? It does not completely seem like a System board issue, but it certainly should not be power. All heat levels are well within normal and as I said the system works great if I leave off the drive and one stick of RAM.
    Thanks guys....

System torn down, and put back together. (Found out I was out of Thrermal Compound, so I had to run to the store to get some.)
No long leads, only 9 stand offs matching each mount point on the systemboard.
Back together... problem is the exact same.
However, back to the hard drive issue. I decided to play with that since I was getting no where with 4 sticks of RAM.
What I have discovered is that with NO sata cable connecting the drive to the system board, if I try to power the two 250GB standard sata drives the system reboots just as the Windows logo should come up.
The fact that this behavior is so close to the RAM behavior... I am back to thinking its a power issue, though system board is still a chance... its just easier to buy a new better power supply than the Antec Neo Power 620 that came with the case. (I have not ever had a problem with Antec before, and will likely just buy one of their higher end power supplies to replace it, but I think I will try it next, just in case.)
I am not seeing any strange behavior power wise as far as any monitor shows... but connecting power to a sata drive that is NOT connected with a sata cable and causing a reboot just screams power at me.
Anymore thoughts today. In the mean time off to play Secret World with just the SSD and two sticks of RAM, which still runs rock solid.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate isn't installing on my iMac. Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition

I have a 21.5" iMac (Late 2012) running OS X Mavericks. I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate via Bootcamp but whenever i get to the setup part it goes wrong
These are the steps I followed
I selected all the options since I didn't have the drivers or an install disk
it copied the Windows 7 iso image, downloaded the support software, and saved the support software to the flash drive (8GB)
    I selected a partition size - I gave windows roughly 100GB
    and I let it install
Right now I'm at the part where it says " where do you want to install windows? I selected the bootcamp partition and formatted it. It now says
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information"
    WHAT DO I DO?

I had to read the apple instructions several times before they started to make sense.  I burned my iso onto a DVD and had the required USB for support software.  Are you trying to use the single USB method?
This article has a lot of info on the single usb method

  • Replaced system board? How to restore system serial number with a CD.

I have an l412 with a defective system board- would not POST. So I replaced the system board (it's a year out of warranty) and booted up, only to be met with an error code about a sytem serial number mismatch. Boots OK, but system update does not work (because of the serial number mismatch).
The instructions for WHAT to do about this are in the online service manual http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/60y3635_02.pdf
When the computer was manufactured, the EEPROM on the system board was loaded with the serial numbers of the system and all major components. These numbers need to remain the same throughout the life of the computer.
If you replace the system board, you must restore the serial number of the system unit to its original value.
You need the LENOVO ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette to do this. This floppy disk is only available to certified Lenovo service centers. Or those who know how to use google. Versions 1.75, 1.76 and 1.83 are the ones I have used. If you can't find them, you probably should not be trying this anyway.
You read that correctly- DISKETTE. As in floppy disk. How many laptops have one of these? Now you see the problem.
The real trick is HOW to do this- without a USB floppy drive. If you have one of these, stop, you don't need to know this.
    For the rest of us....
First, find a computer with a floppy drive. Any computer.
Extract/install the HMD archive onto it. Follow the instructions in the file to make an HMD floppy disk.
Use this program http://www.boodaa.de/index.php/download-mainmenu-31/bootdisk2bootstick-mainmenu-44 to make an image of the floppy. Be sure to save it as a .img type, not .bin
Use this program http://paulski.com/zpages.php?id=1814 to create a bootable CD image using the floppy .img file you just made.
Burn the ISO to a CD and boot from it.
At least on my L412, it works!

you can only download the trial version unless you purchased from adobe and there's a link under your account, https://www.adobe.com/account.html

  • IPhone5 bad system board

Yesterday my i5 was at 40% and i decided to plug it in which i noticed it wasnt charging so i rebooted the phone but it wouldnt power back on. I did a handful of hard resets and finally got the screen to show the 'plug in to charge' icon. Im thinking it was at 40% how can it be dead. I plugged it in and wouldnt charge. Tried several cables that worked on the ipad and still wouldnt work with the i5. So i took it in to a local phone repair which they stuck a new battery in and the phone booted but would not charge. They replaced the charge port and still wouldnt charge so they deemed it unrepairable and something wrong with the system board. This phone was bought in Oct 2012 so its about 1.5 yr old. Will apple fix this? whats the procedure on this since its out of warranty?

If the place that repaired the phone was Apple authorized:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

  • What is the cost and process for factory refurbish of a tx2-1375dx with a blown system board?cc=us

What is the cost and process for factory refurbish of a tx2-1375dx with a blown system board?
How would one go about arranging for such service?
Why is it impossible to contact a real human for support, either via online chat or phone?

Last I checked I am a real human, it is just that I do not work for HP and can't speak for them. HP would not be the place I would go for a "refurbish" job. They charge an arm and a leg for out of warranty service. You simply need to find someone to replace the system board (motherboard). It is also very likely on that model that you could have your system board repaired. There are many services on ebay that will repair the motherboard at the component level. The cost would be at or under $100 or so. I have more advice to give but many times I write a detailed response only to have the user never come back. I do check my posts so if you want more ideas just please respond. The tx2-1000 was one of the models affected by the nVidia issue that caused so many HP laptops made in the 2007-2009 era to fail prematurely.

  • T420 Wearing System Board Insulation in Battery Compartment

From many insertions and removals of batteries, the insulation on the system board of my T420 has begun to wear under the battery (you can see it under the alignment tongue in the following photo).  The wear is a bit more pronounced than visible in the photo.
    Questions:
a)Is there anything of significance under the insulation (any circuit board components or traces)?  Why is the insulation there?
b)If I finally wear through the insulation, are there any special electrical properties where I just can't patch it with clear laminating material (non-conductive) or something like this?
c)Does Lenovo sell this insulation as a spare part (I doubt it)?  (And even so, I'd hate to tear the computer apart to replace it--this would take me a good 8 hours.)
    d)Anything else I should know?
    Thanks, Dave Ashley

    A follow-up on this:
I spoke to Apple Australia who said it was not uncommon, even though AppleCare (in India) had said it was not something they had heard of and that I should speak to Customer Relations.
The repair person at the second Apple Store then advised me that the logic board serial no on some machines is in fact the factory's serial no, not Apple's, and therefore it is normal. There is confusion, though, since many newer machines have eg iBooks have Apple's serial no under the key pad.
