L540: Password accepted nowhere but logon screen

Hello!
I have been happily using the fingerprint sensor on my L540 for a while, until a few months ago I reinstalled Windows 7 (Professional, 64x). After setting up everything and installing the Lenovo drivers, I noticed this issue:
When I start up the laptop and type in the password, it'll accept it.* But if I open the dialogue to change it, Windows will claim that the password I type in is wrong. I tried many times, also copy-pasting in case it had changed the keyboard layout, but it just won't accept the password that works on the logon screen.
The same thing happens when I close the laptop and it enters sleep mode, and then I try logging on again. In that case the only thing that helps is turning the laptop off completely and rebooting.
*For a while it also wouldn't accept the password on the login screen *until* the password hint was shown. Of course maybe I just mistyped it, but it happened very consistently for 1-2 weeks or so. At some point that specific issue didn't come up anymore, without me changing anything.
In short, I can't set up the fingerprint sensor because that requires me to type in the password, and I can't change it to something easier. This particular password wasn't meant to be typed a lot; I trusted the fingerprint sensor would work.
I thought it might perhaps be caused by one of the drivers, since the problem started happening not immediately, but only a few days after I'd set up Windows. (My memory is a bit hazy, sorry.)
So I threw out most of the drivers I'd downloaded manually (esp. the keyboard and fingerprint driver) and installed a package that would automatically install drivers, but that didn't change anything.
I have no clue whether this would be a Lenovo issue or a Windows issue. Can you give me some idea where to go with this problem?
Many thanks!

Easiest thing would be just to use the new account. But as for why that happened, I don't really know why. =/

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Personalization, click the Screen Saver link in the bottom right and in the following window  remove the tick from the box next to 'On resume, display log-on screen'.  Click Apply, then Ok to save this setting.

  • Add new button on SAP R/3 Logon screen( R/3.4.7) to "Forgot the Password"

    HI
We wanted to add a new option( Forgot password option) on the SAP Logon screen to Change password when they forgot the password.
But the user exit EXIT_SAPLSUSF_001 only triggers after the Logon.
*Our Current SAP Version is SAP R/3 4.7
Is there any other way, which allows,
    1. add a button/ menu option on R/3 LOGON screen to include :"forgot apssword" option.when preseed/selected, it has to execute some piece of  code( our own)  with validation to change the password.
OR. is it possible to add an hyperlink next to password, and when pressed to execute /call a BSP(??) application to change the password in R/3. ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I think you can try with  GuiXT script.

Try typing in your 10 didget cell number. Restart iPhone to get the prompt again.

  • Logon screen appears but hangs at 'Loading data...'

Hello, I have a problem that I cannot logon to SAP R3. After typing my username and password in the logon screen, the hourglass shows and the message 'Loading data...' appears in the statusbar. Nothing else happens.
When I try to logon for the second time, the popup appears: 'You are already lgoged on.' with the three options. Appearently SAP thinks i am in.
I am logged on from anywhere via a VPN-connection. When I am on the location itself, logging on works fine.
Does anybody recognise this symptom and know the solution?
    Thanks, Tim van Steenbergen

    Hi Tim:
When you are using the VPN connection try the Low Speed Connection option, with this less traffic is sent back and forth.
To enable LSC open your SAP Logon and select your system, then go to Change Item --> Advanced button and check the Low Speed Connection checkbox.
Hope this fix your problem; this could be due to the fact you are using a custom logo in the initial screen of the SAP system.
You can also try to by-pass the initial screen by entering a transaction directly in the command box.

  • Admin password not accepted anymore - but it's correct

    Hi,
i have a strange problem in Lion 10.7.5:
My admin password is not accepted anymore in Lion. Whenever i'm asked to enter the Admin password, the window closes (therefore: no "wrong password" message or something else) but the process isn't continuing (for example an installation). There is no change or progression.
The password is definitely correct, i was also able to change it or use it in the terminal (where it is accepted). But i'm still not able to use it within Lion.
Tried also to boot in single-user mode and change the password there via "passwd username" but i'm getting a "The daemon encountered an error processing request" error message.
Read somewhere else, that i should repair permissions and/or keychain first aid. Tried both but the problem still exists.
Does anyone have another idea? I really don't want to restore my system... Actually, how can i do this without an installer disc? Purchased my imac with lion pre-installed - i guess i would have to reinstall all my applications?
    Thanks for your help!

I have already disabled the "password must meet the password complexity requierements" policy in our default domain policy.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • WAS Java Administrator password ok but logon to Visual Admin not working

    Hi,
I've got a situation with one of our NW 7 Portal systems where logon to both the Portal and Netweaver Administrator application using the Administrator password is ok but the filesystem based visual administrator tool logon does not work with the same password. The correct passwordhas been set in configtool so the secure storage encrypted file is in sync.
From the Java security trace files I can see that there may be a problem with the "Security Provider" logon ticket configuration as the message issues when the logon to the visual administrator occurs the following trace info is written :-
    nfo#1#com.sap.engine.services.security.authentication.logincontext#Plain###LOGIN.OK

    Central Checks                                                                                true                  #
I've looked at the following SDN links on a similar issue but I'm not 100% sure the offline configtool process will resolve :-

Can anyone suggest how best I can get access to the "Security Provider" settings to validate the correct settings are in place to enable the visual administrator to authenticate properly and connect.
    Regards,
    Brian.

    Another development !!!!!
    This is weird......
I start the Visual Administrator and enter the correct password for the administrator user but get the "error while connecting" after a short while.
I then enter a wrong password for the administrator user in my next attempt to start the visual administrator and get the "User authentication failed" pop-up straight away.
I then try another connect using the correct password for the administrator user and..... it connects properly !!!!

Thius means I can at least get access to the Visual Administrator but I can't explain at the moment why this strange behaviour is happening.

After the restore did the phone work properly for a while? Say, a day or so?
If so it is possible you have an app that doesn't let go of memory properly. I reboot my iPhone ( hold sleep/wake and hole till you see the apple logo) every few days. This resets the memory. The iPhone OS has doesn't seem to mange memory very well yet. So a reboot will help with that. I have had my phone almost slow to a stop before I started rebooting. Always reboot after installing a new app. Also do you close all pages in Safari when you are done? This is a good practice. Safari will run in the background and use processor time and drain your battery quicker. Create a new blank page then close all others when you are done browsing for a while. I have also found that certain web site that have animated images like weather maps will turn the phone into molasses. As soon as i close that page it gets faster.
If all of the above have no effect then as Tamara said it is time for a trip to the Genius bar.
    Good luck

  • 10.7 (Lion) Password accepted but can't log in

Late 2009 MacBook Air. The problem I describe happened shortly after upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion with all the latest updates. It's been running smoothly untill this morning.
    1. At "choose account" log-in screen, when I choose ANY of the regular user accounts, OS X accepts the password, then loads a gray screen, and a few seconds later goes back to the "choose account" log-in screen.
    2. I am not entering the wrong password. OS X still gives the shaking password box when I enter the wrong password. That's not what's happening here.
    3. I can log in to the guest account. It's the only was I can get past the log-in screen.
Any idea what's happening or know of a solution? I've tried:
    1. Resetting PRAM.
    2. Also tried login from Safe Mode.
    3. And using disk utility (found no problems what so ever).
    4. Resetting the password (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Reset-Mac-OS-X-Account-Passwords-214330.sh tml)
    Still no luck.
My apologies if this has been answered before. I couldn't find any references to this precise log-in problem.
    Thanks for any advice.

Update: I am back and running. How I made my corrupted account's files accessible to my new profile account can be found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20798613#20798613
Summary of my attempts and solution:
Actions that didn't fix login problem:
    Reset PRAM several times
Safe Boot (power on + left shift key). Problem still exists.
Disk Utility (Verify and repaired permissions. Verified disk - no problems)
Checked disk “The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK”.
    Repaired disk. Problem still exists.
    Recovery partition (Power + option)
Tried login while holding shift key down
    Reloaded OS X
    My Solution:
    Create new account:
Shut down, and power on holding Apple and S (cmd -s).
Type the following lines followed by return, without the dollar sign:
    $ mount -uw /
    $ rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    $ exit
        2. Moved corrupted user’s data to new user account by FireWire Target Disk Mode

  • Password sleep but not screen saver

Is there any way to make OS X ask for a password to wake up from sleep, but automatically quit a screen saver? In the security preference pane, you can either password both sleep and the screen saver, or neither.
If this is possible, I'm assuming it would be a command line hack or something of that sort.

I would like to do the same thing? Does anyone have an answer?
