L675 Internal Microphone Static Noise

The internal microphone on my L675-S7048 (PSK3AU-01S02S) no longer works. All I get is white noise (whether I use Skype or sound recorder). I tried restoring the system, reinstalling and updating Realtek drivers (Realtek ALC259) and adjusting the sound settings, but nothing seems to work. If I attach an external microphone, it works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

...i am a computer technichian and networking professional there is a software problem here....
Something you should understand is that this is a peer support forum. We're all just other users and Toshiba owners trying to help each other out. Even though Toshiba USA supplies this space, there are no Toshiba customer service, tech support, or any other staff viewing, commenting on, or offering advice here.
As a couputer tech and network professional, who fully understands the complexities of the relationships between the BIOS, hardware, drivers, operating system, software, etc., perhaps, given your definitive statement, you would enlighten us on which is the specific piece of software you are so sure is causing your problem?
Nonetheless, the answer remains the same, if the problem is not resolved by doing a full Toshiba Recovery, to return the unit to its factory default out-of-the-box condition, then it is a warranty issue, regardless of the root cause.
But, when doing a Toshiba Recovery, to prevent any other software, updates, different drivers, etc, from complicating the issue, you must ensure Windows Update is not enabled when the recovery program reinstalls Windows. At some point, when Windows is being setup it will ask 'Do you want to allow automatic Windows Updates?'. You should answer 'No, I will decide later'. After Windows setup is complete, click 'Start - All Programs - Windows Update', on the menu at left click on 'Change settings', next under 'Important updates' click on the drop down menu at right and choose 'Never check for updates, (not recommended)', and click 'OK'. Then, before any updates are done, or third party software installed, the system needs a thorough test. Only in this manner can the laptop be isolated to its factory default out-of-the-box condition.

  • Dominator GT70 Microphone static noise problem

Hi, I have a Dominator GT70, and the sound quality coming from the built-in microphone is so god-awful you can barely hear yourself, with the addition of static noise. I have a sample of the sound here:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3pHT8u7ussWWlqYkZNLTdlbEk/edit?usp=sharing
You can barely hear me. I'm thinking I might need to go contact MSI about this and get my laptop repaired - I have a warranty from newegg.

Have you run any of the sound software yet? Theres equilizor and other parts to it. There are also a few microphone tweaks in it that im sure will help you out.

  • USB Microphone static noise OSX Yosemite.

Same thing as the title recently upgraded from late 2008 iMac using Mountain Lion to a late 2013 iMac using Yosemite and now when I plug in my USB headset into one of the 4 USB slots the microphone is robotic and static noises appear. When I plug the headphones into the Usb slot in my keyboard the mic works fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer? Is your USB microphone a standalone or part of a USB web cam type device?
Classically the Adobe ReadMe mentions that USB Microphones do not work with Premiere Elements. Yes, I have seen a report that USB microphone would be expected to work with correct Control Panel and program Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO settings at least in versions 10 and 11 Mac.
Please see a thread from last year and its discussion on the matter.
I can't get premiere elements 11 to see my usb microphone?
Some have found a few USB Microphones that do work in Premiere Elements (any version), but those reports are scattered. So to answer your question
will an other usb microphone work?
maybe or maybe not is the best answer I can offer at this time.
For troubleshooting purposes, can you create the narration in a free audio editor like Audacity and then
import that narration into the Premiere Elements project (Add Media/Files and Folders) without issue?
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Perhaps we can encourage Premiere Elements users versions 4 to 13 who use a USB microphone to post in your thread (for informational
purposes) the brand/model USB microphone that has worked for them.

  • Internal Microphone White Noise

I have a Satellite E45-B4200 laptop and it has served me well for the last 4 months with no issue. Unfortunately it has one FATAL design flaw. If I plug in my Sony headphones into the headphone jack it RUINS the internal Micophone. This happened before and it made the mic record everything and enything and echo it back at me. I resolved it... dont remember how and here we are again. This time when I record my voice on such programs as skype it has an intense white noise ethat completely covers up my voice and requires a strong yelling just to get the message through. Please help. I will provide as much detail as needed to resolve this.

It makes two of us. This issue is driving me crazy! I tried:updating the driversrestoring default mic settingenable/disable echo, noise cancellationtry different mic quality setting (sampling rates) Nothing seems to work. The internal microphone makes this anoying white noise all the time. I can't use Skype nor Cortana without pluging in a headset, which definetively kills the purpose. If I can't find a solution to this, my next replacement won't be a Toshiba laptop, that's for sure.

  • Iphone4 microphone makes static noises while I make a call using headphones?

I have iphone 4 32GB. When I make a call using headphones the microphone at bottom-left of the phone makes static noises when it comes into contact with anything.
It is really annoying as I hear loud noises while my phone is on my pocket and I am making a call using headphones.
Could you please help what could be the solution? Is this a fault with the hardware or software?
NB: I have recently installed the latest version 5.01.
    Many thanks for your help.

I found the answer myself, I actually bought earphones from a corner mobile shop for £10. and they happened to be fake and do ot disable microphone while plugged.

Ever since i updated to lion (currently 10.7.3) the internal microphone doesn't seem to be working at all!
but here's the thing... if i TAP the computer near where the microphone is located (to the left of the keyboard) it does capture some sort of noise/sound on it, which means "it's working" also if I do some test recordings through garage band i do get those tappings and a little bit of static/dead air on it, not silence.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L500-1PU - internal microphone does not work

    I have an L500 -1PU Toshiba, running on 32 bit Windows 7,
The webcam is working wonderfully but the internal microphone is not working properly.
I had an external microphone so i hadn't noticed this problem when i got on skype, but i've recently discovered that when using the webcam the person on the other end can hear faint noises from my computer when i'm playing music or watching a video clip.
How can i solve this and get my microphone working properly such that i can control the volume and actually get full service from my otherwise decent notebook?
    Thanks

    Hi
Possibly this Toshiba FAQ could help you:
+Whistling sound on the Satellite L500+
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0402UB0001R01.htm
Its a matter of the settings.
This issue occurs if the microphone volume in the speakers properties is enabled.
After disabling this point the issue with acoustic feedback does not appear anymore.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why is my iPod touch making a static noise?

My iPod touch (2 gen) is making a static noise from the internal speaker. Anytime that I play my iPod from the speaker or headphones, it makes a static and crackling noise. However, it does work when I connect it to my iPod dock. I have tried the five R's and none of them work. What can I do to fix this?

  • Closed Lid use with Internal Microphone

Is it possible to configure the internal microphone so that I can use it when I'm running my MacBook Pro with the lid closed? I close the lid and attach the MacBook to a large external monitor and still want to use Skype.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
The internal microphone (and speakers) are still active when in clamshell mode but in my experience it picks up a lot of 'noise' and vibration from the MBP itself and isn't very effective for speech. I use an external microphone (MicFlex) or the one in my external camera (Logitech) and they work well for video conferencing.

  • Internal Microphone not working for L505D-S5983 (PLEASE HELP!)

    Hi,
I can't seem to get my internal microphone to work. I have enabled it under Sound->Manage Audio Devices
->Recording tab. However the green vertical bar does not detect any voice. After setting the Microphone boost to +40dB, it detected some noise (since it has some green light) but I realized it wasn't detecting my voice. Since this did not work, I re-set the Microphone boost to only +10dB.  I only have one internal microphone and no external microphone.
I have seen many postings on internal microphones not working on Toshiba laptops but couldn't find a solution to mine. Can someone please help? I think it's about time that Toshiba fix this issue after the countless complaints.
    FM.

No mentions of reinstalling the sound driver. That sometimes turns on the microphone.

  • Internal microphone.

    Hello.
Can't seem to get the internal microphone to work.  Any ideas?

    Greetings,
If you go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input, does it say "Internal Microphone?
If so click on it and make noise and see if the sound input bar fluctuates.  Is there any response?
If not try the following resets:

  • IMac internal microphone problems

I have a recurring issue with the internal microphone in my iMac. Occasionally, it will just stop working and won't pick up any sounds. The two resolutions I've found are to either unplug and re-plug the external speakers I have connected (strange) or, when that doesn't work, to restart the computer (less strange). Has anyone had a similar problem with their iMac? Adjusting the settings in the sound control panel does nothing to make this work. It seems that this is a software problem, since it's always fixed by restarting, but of course I'd like to find some way to fix this without having to restart. Thanks.

I am encountering similar issues, looking at the sound preference pane, I can see that the microphone is showing noise, this is duplicated on a skype test call... just noise no external sound is being picked up. Steps I have taken so far are:
    Zapped the PRAM
    Thrown away my sound preferences
    Ran software update
Restarted the iMac a few times
Another thing to note is that the microphone was working ok this morning, then the sound started to degrade and now just noise.
Thanks in advance for any help or direction to solve this!
    Cheers,
    Sean

  • Trouble with internal microphone and display

    Hello together,
I just installed Arch on my Laptop yesterday. Everything works fine now, except for two things:
    1) The internal microphone does not work at all. I already checked all settings in alsamixer/amixer and I also tried this, but it won't help.
    2) After a reboot, the display brightness is always reduced. When I press the button to raise it again, nothning happens. When I press the button to lower it instead, it raises to the full brightness. This is a little strange and annoying, but not too important.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?
I would be grateful for any help.

    EDIT:
I got the microphone working now, I was just a bit confused about the alsamixer/amixer settings.

WonderWoofy wrote:Is that feedback?  Are you sure it is not just the hum of your machine?  I think of feedback as the screech you get when your mic actually starts picking up the output of the speakers.
Perhaps you're right - if so, I certainly didn't get as much background noise before. Any idea how to improve the situation?

  • I removed the internal microphone - how do I get it back?

OK, I did a very stupid thing. It was late at night, I was recording - something I've done many times before - but the computer is brand new (L540 ThinkPad).
I was recording through the USB port from a synthesizer  with a Audio to USB interface, and the internal microphone on the ThinkPad was recording room noises along with the synth, so I went to the control panel, clicked Sound, went to the Recording Tab and removed the RealTek internal microphone from the system.
Well, like I said, that was a stupid thing to do when I could have muted it with the F4 key - but this is the first computer I've ever had with that feature so I didn't think of it. I've been using ThinkPads since the R30, I've had R40, R50 and R60 series. You know I've seen the icon there, so I should have known, but like I said, it's late, and I've been working on this song since before noon today.
So now the question is this. Since I obviously removed it from the system, is there any way to get it back?
If so, step by step how do I do that?
I googled and couldn't find the answer - perhaps I didn't use the magic search terms.
I apologize for being such a dummy, I'm not always that stupid, but on occasion I am.
I hope there is a way to get it back into the system - I'm sure it's physically there.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am unsure what exactly you did (which Windows version by the way?), because I think there is no option to *delete* a device from that screen (only disable).
When you right-click there, do you have a "Hide disabled devices" option? If yes, enable it and then enable the device again.
If that does not help, check device manager - if you have your microphone there, but disabled, try to re-enable it there. If you have some unknown audio device instead, reinstall the audio driver. If you have neither, the "add new hardware wizard" (hdwwiz.exe) should find it again for you - but I think it should be found again at the next reboot anyway.
