L755-S5216 Due to unknown BIOS password unable to boot to optical drive for recovery

Unable to access BIOS or change Boot Order due to unknown BIOS password.  Called Toshiba Tech Support and they say they don't have a MoBo diagram or sevrice manual so I can find jumpers to reset BIOS.  They told me to call local repair, but they are also unwilling to help.  Tried removing CMOS battery, no go.  There must be somone out there who can help me with location of reset jumpers.  I'm beginning to think I wil no longer be recommedning Toshiba.  Thanks to anyone who can help!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that number.  It’s an independent contractor for Toshiba and they also are unwilling to provide the simple information on how to reset the BIOS.  I don't understand how no one at Toshiba is willing to provide this information.  Anyone who purchases an electronic product is entitled to a schematic or diagram of the jumpers on the motherboard.  Independent contractors shouldn't be put in the position of supplying tech support for Toshiba, and so it's understandable that they won't and would rather charge $175 for something that anyone should be able to do themselves.   I hope this can be escalated to someone in Toshiba management.  There are many laptop choices.  Holding back simple information to allow one to fix their own Toshiba laptop is not good corporate strategy.

  • Tecra M3: How can I reset or bypass a unknown BIOS password

My brother passed away last year and left a Toshiba Tecra M3 protected by a Bios password. How or where can I resest this password.
I have good computer background by this one proved to be a chalenge please help.

    Hi
I am afraid that you will be not able to bypass or to delete this unknown BIOS password
Of course, the BIOS password could be deleted on the desktop PC by removing the BIOS battery but the notebook technology is simply different and this procedure will not help
You have to contact the ASP in your country who is able to do it.
or ask you brother for the password ;)

  • Unable to install a software driver for Canon film scanner on mac OSX 10.6

I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.
I am using Mac OS 10.6. Any suggestions greatly received. I have repaired/disk and permissions and it still does not work.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Just upgraded my MacBookPro to OSX Mountain Lion. Now unable to reinstall Capt.Installer driver for my Canon LBP3010 printer. Same installer was used in previous OS

Just upgraded my MacBookPro to OSX Mountain Lion. Now unable to reinstall Capt.Installer driver for my Canon LBP3010 printer. Same Capt.Installer was used in previous OS.
Got message that the software was not obtained from Apple or trusted source.
Anyone can help solve this issue, do not wish to purcahse new printer, and Apple does not appear to be friendly to me

Apple is still friendly, only became more protective - for your very best. Right-click on the installer, then "Open", and then you get a window offering you the option to run it. That's a ML feature. Again, for your protection.
Independently, and as not only with Apple, a new OS X is sometimes different, and ML is that bit "pickier" with fully compatible software. So, even if your driver ran under Lion, it can be that it won't under ML. In that case please check Canon's website if they have a newer ML-compatible version, If not, also go and blame Canon. It's their responsibility to provide up-to-date drivers, not Apple's.
    Good luck.

  • Portege R700 protected by unknown BIOS password

Can anyone help with this problem.
At our site we have approx 300 of these laptops and they are all bios protected.
Recently had a problem where when inputting the bios password and it says its incorrect even though its the standard password we use on all our laptops. The user also confirms they didn't set a password...
Is it possible for the bios to somehow have become currupted (the machine was experiencing blue screens before) or how can I factory reset the bios password.
Before anyone says yes we own the machince and can prove it!

Maybe it sounds stupid but I think you should clarify this with nearest Toshiba service provider.
I use Toshiba notebooks for years now and I know for sure that Toshiba doesnt sell notebooks with any kind of password or such kind of protection.
If you have such amount of notebooks maybe there was some special dial about configuration or protection. Anyway, BIOS password removal cannot be theme on such public forum. BIOS password protection is very important security feature and if there is some problem it must be clarified with authorized Toshiba service provider.
BIOS password cannot be set or changed from alone and, as far as I know, there is no kind of factory reset. I just know that BIOS can be set to default settings. Thats all.
Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and clarify this issue.

  • TS1544 Locked out due to unknown keychain password

I recently restarted my mac mini and have had a serious problem. I am continually asked for keychain passwords and have never set one at all. I looked on the support page and went into the settings to reset my keychain password but the page has the lock on it and asks for a different password to make changes and i dont know it either. Is there any way I could bypass this or remove the program completely? thanks for your help.

Same exact issue on a mac mini. My problem is exacerbated as it is a mac mini that is in charge of a fleet of supervised iPads. Apple configurator is asking for "Local Items" Keychain access and every password that I have ever used does not work. So I am locked out of Configurator and thus all of those iPads.
When I go to KEychain access there are no entires in the Local Items Keychain.

  • Unable to boot up after driver update on X200 - please help!!

When I boot up now my screen goes to "Windows XP," then  hangs on a blank blue screen (not BSD) - won't go any further.  Scoured other forums and have not found a solution - tried:
    1. Disabling VT-d in BIOS
    2. Loading defaults in BIOS
3, boot into diagnostics from BIOS
    4. Removed primary battery *have not yet tried removing backup battery)
How do I boot windows XP in safe mode using this computer?
Also tried F11 *disk doctor" - it would not launch.
This all happened as I was configuring my system today for the first time (relatively new system) and performed many driver updates - did this one by one and things were going fine.  Then, I discovered the ThinkPad System Update package - installed this and then it scanned automatically for driver updates - I did three at once (I think one was finger print reader drive, one AMT 4.2, and the other some Microsoft hotfix) - after this, no starting up.  I know there's a BIOS update to do (3.11 - I have 3.10) and I have created the boot CD for this though don;t have my base station/CD with me so I have to wait to try this until tomorrow.
Any ideas?  Please help - this is insane, and I am kicking myself as I knew I should have kept doing these one by one and I also need a good imaging program to create images after each successful update so I could just roll back on an unsuccessful one - is there a "SuperDuper!" imaging program for Windows ("SuperDuper! Is the one I use for Mac)?
    Thank you.

Nvidia's official site. I don't know if I am allowed to send links on this site so I am not going to do that.
Anyway, I tried to contacted the apple on 16'th and just got a response a few minutes ago.Unfortunately then I had to reinstall my mountain lion all over again by recovery. Well, I lost many stuff but 'Hey! Mountain Lion got much faster for some reason so, I'm not complaining.
    Thank you for your reply.

  • Unable to boot from install disk for needed disk repair

Hi- I need to repair my disk, but haven't been able to boot from the DVD. When I've tried (several times), I get a black screen with a long error message, ending in something like "hanging here." Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Laura

That is a kernel panic. Kernel panics on startup from an installer disc mean one of two things usually: 1. You are using an installer disc with an OS version that is not able to boot the computer model you have. Usually the version is too early for the model; 2. There's a serious hardware problem such as a dead hard drive or motherboard problem.

  • Unable to boot external hard drive

I have a PowerBook G4 17" 1.67 ghz and I am trying to install Mac OS X 10.5 on it using an external Iomega hard drive (there currently is no Superdrive in the PowerBook - I have one coming).  The PowerBook recognizes the external HD and the "gear" runs for a bit and then the machine restarts.  This happens each time it attempts to run off the external HD: recognizes the external HD, Apple symbol and "gear", then restart.
Any suggestions on how to overcome this issue?  Many thanks.

The PB restarts, but does not go to the internal HD as it is just formatted - there is no OS on it.
It came from a DVD and I copied the image locally to my iMac using Disk Utilities and then put it on the external HD using the Restore feature in Disk Utilities.  I have also tried it using SuperDuper, as that has a visible check point to me that shows that the drive is bootable and I had gotten an error on Disk Utilities at the end about allocation of memory, which I understand is common.  I cannot recall for sure the exact sequence, but that is the general approach.  It was trial and error for a bit.
The external HD is recognized at start up when connected (via Firewire).  However, I have also tried to initiate the install sequence via Options.  It is recognized, select it and it exhibits the behavior referenced above.
I have another PB (15" 1.67 ghz) and have attempted to see what happens there and I get the exact same behavior.  I suspect it is an issue the the external HD.

  • Unable to boot from hard drive or install dvd

Out of the the blue my powerbook won't boot up. I've tried to reset the PRAM, I've tried to verbose thing but all it said was that it couldn't establish a connection to the windowserver. I've even tried to power on holding the option key but the hard drive and install dvd both have x's on them. What can I do to get this thing working again?

Have you tried rebooting in safe mode? Failing that, have you tried rebooting from the install disc so you can run Disk Repair? For either of these tests, insert your system disc and follow the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
    Good luck!
