Lab equipment list - Help

Hey guys,
Planning my CCIE voice, have come up with the below list of equipments, can you guys please have a look at it and let me know what is required and what all can I do without.
â¢ MCS-7825H 3GHZ Xeon 2GB MEMORY 40GB HDD ---- 3 servers, 1 for pub, 1 for sub and 1 for Unity/IPCC or second sub
â¢ HP DL320 P3 1.0GHz, 40GB HDD, 1GB Memory---- 1 server for Unity or IPCC
â¢ 7940 Cisco IP Phones with power cubes---- 6 units
â¢ Cisco 2811 with 768/256, 1 WIC2T, 1 PVDM2-8, 1 vwic2-1mft-t1/e1 ---- 3 routers
â¢ Cisco 3550 switch ---- 4 switches
â¢ 4 port PRI simulator from VCONSOLE
â¢ 1 FXO and 1 FXS
Is the above list overkill? Or I am short of some stuff here? I have left out the VG224 and will rent online rack for CAT6509 part.

A 6608 with the online rental will be fine as is the vg224.
Also, VMWare for your Pub, Sub, Unity and IPCCX will save alot of money and rack space.
(I have all the required steps if you need them for CCM 4.1(x), Unity & IPCCX on VMWare. Let me know and I'll provide ftp access to you to download them)
You may want additional FXOs for each site. (ie: BR1 & BR2)
You'll also need to use bigger PVDM2s than the PVDM2-8. (MTP & conferencing are not supported in configurations you'll need to master; not to mention the PRI(s) will require DSPs.
I suggest to NM-HD-xx with PVDM2-16 minimum for each router. (depending on the number of PRI channels and your mtp/conferencing/transcoding configuration you want to create)
You'll need an IOS that supports IPIPGW and Gatekeeper to practice your h323 & SIP connectivity.
Also, 7940s only have two lines which are not enough to study some of the more advanced features such as multi-lines with hunt and conferencing/call park, etc.

Default values to be populated in the search option ' Equip by equip list'

All Experts,
I am running the transaction code IE01 to create a equipment. While creating, i would like to select a reference equipment. When i am doing so, there are so many included search options are displayed. Now, there are two queries from here onwards.
a)Is it possible to hide / deactivate all other included search options except ' Equipments by Equipments list'.
b)When the option 'Equipments by Equipments list' is selected, is it any way to default the values for the fields 'Equipment category' as 'M' and the 'Class type as 002'

You will not be able to accomplish this using standard functionality without doing some development. It maybe possible to accomplish this through Transaction variant.
Other than the above, the simplest way to hide the search options would be to place a implicit enhancement at the begining of the FM "PM_HLP_PREVENT_RECURSION" to delete of the search helps other than "Equip By Equip List" based on the calling program and screen number.
With respect to defaulting, other than what Paul had indicated , try defaulting those values by setting the Parameter ID.

Restrict Equipment Search Options to only "Equipments by equipment list"

Hello Experts,
Is there a way to restrict Equipment Search Options to only "Equipments by equipment list" in all PM related transactions like maintenance plan, order, notification, measuring point, etc.,
We would like to put a hard stop on that option and restrict users from accessing (preferably not to even display other options) other options like "Equipment by Cost center", etc.,
Appreciate immediate response to this issue.

The Equipment Search Options can be restricted by two ways.
1) If the restricted search option required in all transactions where you are using equipment field,
Edit the search help collecting search help 'EQUI' in SE11, Flag the checkbox for all the search helps in the 'Included Search helps' tab except the 'Equipment by Equipment list' search help (EQUIL).
2) If you want for particular transaction or program,
Use the search help exit 'PM_HLP_PREVENT_RECURSION'.
ABAPer can help you for both the options.

Lab equipment for home study ?

Hi Guys,
I've just bought the latest CCNA R/S study guide and as part of my study would like to put together a suitable lab for home use. I've seen labs on ebay for around £70 and wondered if these are suitable for the latest exam. The lab equipment tends to be made up of old layer 2 switches and routers - as you'd expect for the price.
Money is an object so ideally I'd like to keep the cost down, but I'd rather spend extra money buying something worth while than throw money away on unsuitable equipment.
Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Equipment list in a functional location

Hi,
My scenario is as follow:
I have a functional location with a equipment list. I have to create a maintenance plan that affects to all the equipments.
All the equipments have to be controlled with the same parameters.
How can I act?
Could I create an unique maintenance plan to the functional location or could I have to create a maintenance plan for ech equipment?
How can I check that all the equipments are controlled?

it depends on your requirement only for example if you cost analysis is based on FL only ,then create one maintenance plan for that FL and attach the equipments in the object list ,hence once the call object is generated you can see the list of the equipment for maintenance activities,the cost incurred will be reflected to the FL
OR other thing is if all the equipments are to be maintained at regular interval with same parameter then create a maintenance plan with several maintenance item,in which system will create a call object for each maintenance item,drawaback is if you change any parameter ,then it will affect all the maintenance item attached to it
simple one is create maintenance plan for each equipment

IE07 and error 'Maintain field selection for Fleet data in Equipment List'

Hi all,
When running transaction IE07 (multi-level equipment list) , I get the following error: 'Maintain field selection for Fleet data in Equipment List (Multilevel)'
I can't see where is the missing configuration point.
We have activated business function LOG_EAM_CI_3.
Have anyone encountered this error before?

Hi,
what do you mean with details? Do you need the fields? You can do a double click on the data type of the details filled for browsing deeper into the structure of the details. Or you can use TCODE SE11 and check the type in the data dictionary.

New Users Not Appearing On Login List - Help!

Hello Mac geniuses,
I run a 10.3.9 network in an elementary school, and I since returning from summer vacation I have had problems with many of my client eMacs not displaying the names of users I have added in WGM. These eMacs are also still displaying the names of accounts I have deleted.
If anyone is kind enough to help a stranger, I have copied below the transcripts of my email exchanges with an Apple tech, in my struggle to get my school functioning again. (I have placed them in the correct order so the 1st email is on top and the last on bottom. The tech's name is John and I am using "Jon" to make it slightly less confusing!).

When working with NetInfo, which we are and hope to have some more articles on in the near future, it is important to know
how to back up to a previous version of your database.
1. First, the most brutal way of recovering from a nonfunctional database.
Boot into single user mode by holding down the "s" key while starting up. Follow the handy instructions Apple gives you at the end of the startup sequence and run fsck. Then mount the system root disk as read/write with:
mount -uw /
Now you can get on with recreating your database in a very brutal way. Remove your current database with:
rm -rf /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb
Now remove the file that prevents the Setup Assistant from running:
m /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
And now reboot to get things rolling.

This will cause the Setup Assistant to launch, complete with music and bouncing blue blobs. If you remember which account you set up first when you last saw this screen, set up that account now. Otherwise, go with whatever you want for your first
Administrator account. If you match it up with the original Administrator account, all of your permissions should be groovy.
Otherwise, get familiar with chown and chmod and you will be able to set things right.
The above method is rather draconian and isn't for times when you need to replace a complicated NetInfo setup, but should work perfectly well for an essentially single user machine. However that probably rules out most Servers.

John, we're talking about 23 computers here - re-imaging is not an option for me alone unless I have some technical assistance (I don't know how to 'ghost' images across a network).
I was managing the users by Groups though I did have a list of the computers called "lab computers". I just noticed that when I try accessing the Computers tab in WGM (whether on my teacher's station or on the server itself) I get the same error message:

The list of users is a plist file and should be at at /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist on the clients. See this thread for more information:

If you've got a good plist from a client that sees the right users, you should be able to copy it over. If not, try backing up the file from one client and then deleting it and restarting.

In example 2 you coded the access lists like you would if you were going to assign them with access-group on the physical interfaces where you specify source address and destination address. But you are trying to use the access list in a distribute list. In a distribute list you are filtering the advertisement and advertisements do not have source and destination addresses.
In example 3 you are using route map deny logic which gets a bit tricky. I suggest that you start with route maps which use permit in the route map statement and deny in the access list logic. These are much more easy to work with. After you get quite comfortable with route map logic you can come back to the route map deny logic.

AirPlay Speakers drop off iTunes list - help!

My 4 AirPlay speakers (Bose, JBL, iHome) have worked fine connected by wi-fi to my Netgear WNDR4000 router. I play from iTunes, and also sometimes stream radio directly from my iPhone or iPad.
I have had some issues with poor wi-fi coverage, so yesterday I up graded to a high end Wireless Access Point, the EnGenius EAP-1750h. This is a 802.1ac dual band high power device - the signal strength is amazing. I have turned off wi-fi on my router completely, and am using the access point for wi-fi connections.
The issue I am having is that the AIrPlay devices are falling off iTunes after a variable time (minutes to hours). If I click on them in the iTunes airplay list, they disappear and I cannot connect to them. At the same time, the "connected devices" lists of the access point and the router show that the speakers are still connected. There is NO issue with internet access on any devices. REBOOTING THE ACCESS POINT BRINGS THE DEVICES BACK, until they drop off again.
I am thinking that perhaps there is a bonjour port that keeps track of the devices that is not making it from the WAP to the router or something - and Apple in its wisdom makes it really hard to find out such info. I am an experienced user, and do not have any gross mistakes in my device configuration; I have read the relevant Apple support documents. I am not an IT tech, however, and I am not familiar with some the advanced settings, particularly of the WAP, which is a high-end business-oriented device.
All the AirPlay devices are connected on the 2.4Ghz network. The base PC is hardwired by Ethernet to the router. Turning off the 5Ghz band completely and using only a single 2.4Ghz network does not help. All software and firmware of all devices is up to date.
Does this ring any bell to anyone? I sthere a setting that will fix this? I love the WAP, but I will have to bring it back if I can't get AirPlay to work! I'm sure it is not a hardware defect issue - it is an Apple AirPlay configuration issue - that's why I am posting here. Help appreciated!!

Circular Linked List Help

I'm developing a circular linked list class.. However everytime I add to the front of the list it overwrites the first element in the list.. I pretty confused at the moment. If anyone could assist me in what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated..

You need a Node class and a class that manages the nodes. The class the manages the nodes is typically called something like MyLinkedList. The MyLinkedList class will typically have a member called 'head' or 'first' and another member called 'last', 'end', or 'tail'. Those members will contain references to the first node and the last node respectively.
The methods like add(), remove(), find(), etc. will be members of the MyLinkedList class--not the Node class. The add() method of the MyLinkedList class will create a node, set the value of the node, and then set the next member to refer to the proper node or null if the node is added to the end of the list. Therefore, there is really no need for a default constructor in the node class. The MyLinkedList class will always set the value of the node, and then set it's next member to refer to something.
You might want to try to write a linear linked list first, and get that working, and then modify it to make it a circular linked list. In addition, you should be drawing pictures of nodes with arrows connecting the different nodes to understand what's going on. Whenver the next member of a node refers to another node, draw an arrow starting at the next member and ending at the node it refers to. The pictures will be especially helpful when you write functions like add().
