Lab Set-up

Hi!
I have to setup a Voip lab and I have never see anything about that.
Follows the equipments I have got with me, anyway on the cisco.com I didn't find anything simple and useful for me to setup a lab (just two telephone and two routers back2back connected...).
Does anybody have some links or idea or simple configuration just to set up a simple lab ?
Tks in advance

HI
What are you building this lab for?
You can do PPP Muultilink Qos over the WAn link along with connecting the BRI ports together and making a lot of calls that go around using up BRI ports and also the WAN link if you so wish.
What is the point of the LAB setup? Once you get that stright then we can maybe help more.

  • Issue with PP-6 in BPI-O Lab set

Having issues with the PP6 screen in BPI-O lab set.
Won't allow the setting of USD in teh costing.  Can only set the costing in MIN (time units).  A studnet suggested the follwoing work around.
But is the correct solution or, someway to convert to USD?
    Thanks
    Bish Ghosh
Use 2.3333 MIN for both setup and labor since after that section it shows the following:
    Activity Price = $20/hr or $0.33/min
    Setup u2013 ((.3333 * 7min = $2.333)*2 splits) = $4.67
    Labor u2013 (((.3333 * (7min * 100ea = 700min) = $233.34) / 1 base unit) = $233.34

    Hi All,
I was actually able to find a workaround for this not using Tidal variables.  I ended up hard coding part of the file path in the SQL job which pulls the static string value, and concatenating the 2 strings like this:
    SELECT TOP 1 'E:\data\inbound\KMK\RETROACTIVE\' + LTRIM(RTRIM([Data_Date]))
    FROM [DB_NAME].[dbo].[TABLE_NAME]
    WHERE = 946
When I pass the job output to my ROBOCOPY script it works perfectly.
I'll leave this as answered instead of deleting it in case anyone has the same issue

  • TS1702 Is there a way to lock out or restore original settings on an iPad used in a school lab setting. We need something like the program cornerstone, which will allow the iPad to revert back to its original setup.

We setup iPads for a mobile lab and students change the settings or set up a pass code on the iPad. Is there a way to lock the settings folder or an app to revert any changes back to the original set up like the program cornerstone (for a pc)?

you might need to post this question on iPad in the Enterprice community

  • AU-Lab set-up?

I went through hours of trying to get AU Lab to show any of the different audio sounds that I need to record .
I tried every possible variation of inputs and outputs I could think of. Internal or external audio (through my
Alesis iO|26). I have been recording with Logic Pro Logic Express and my Alesis sucessful for years, but
have yet to see any movement in AUs level meters no matter what settings I try. Since AU was made by Apple
I must be not finding the right initial settings to get started with AU Lab. I also tried to use soundflower with AU Lab.
Would sombody please talk me through the first set-up of AU Lab.
Thank you so much for your time and patience.

    Hi Olaf,
No posts probably because your issue is a pretty complicated one, and not many people on this list have a whole lot of experience with AU Lab. Also, this list is from apple users to apple users, meaning that apple engineers don't frequent them ever. If I have time in the next couple days to set up your test, I will, and I will get back to you.

  • Has anyone tried to use bluetooth headsets in a school lab setting?

Our K-5 school has a lab of 30 Intel iMacs. We've had problems keeping wired headsets in good working condition and are looking to possibly replace them with bluetooth headsets. I am hoping someone has done this and can give a yes or no to this idea.
    My main concerns are:
linking that many bluetooth devices within a small room (static??)
    keeping them charged
will we have to continually relink them after the machines sleep?
We have no tech teacher in the lab, I am a classroom teacher who also oversees the lab, so I'm looking for an efficient solution.
    Any advice? Any recommendations?
    Thanks! Sharon

I have not done this but did look after Macs in a class room enviroment. I think your concerns are valid, you may be making a difficult situtation worse.
If no one come back with a definite answer, you could try a small number as a pilot, and keep them on machines next to each other. That may give you a better understanding of any likey problems.
What are the the problems with the wired headphones, cable breaks? If so woud headsets with detachable cables be an easier answer?

  • Running iMovie '08 in a lab setting - question

I am planning on running iMovie '08 in a Mac lab of intel 20" iMacs running Leopard. To more easily maintain the machines, they have been divided into three partitions.
    1) Macintosh HD (Using DeepFreeze to maintain it)
    2) Work HD (an unfrozen partition where students may save work)
    3) Windows XP (Boot Camp - Windows XP install)
Since the new iMovie '08 automatically saves by default to the Movies folder on the Macintosh HD, anything saved there will be erased upon reboot because of DeepFreeze.
My question, how do I change the default save location to the WORK HD, or how can a student make sure that his/her project is saved to a location other than the default?

DeepFreeze just released a version 4 of its Mac product. It solved the problem for me. DeepFreeze allows the administrator to map a user to another partition or thaw space. Now anything saved to the pictures, movies, music, library, etc., for the user of the frozen partition automatically gets saved in the user directory created on the thawed partition.
    Thanks for the lead.

  • Installing Final Cut Pro (or similar "big" app) in lab setting via ARD

Has anybody successfully installed a suite of apps such as FCP or Adobe CS3 via the package install option in Remote Desktop 3? I'm trying to push out the latest Final Cut suite to an ARD-managed lab of 15 iMacs and it is failing?
    TIA.
    -Mike

Here's what we're doing at my independent art college.
We make IMAGES from a sample computer.
Take one G5, and PARTITION it.
Make the 2nd partition about 60-80GB.
You need to do this BEFORE you install FCP.
Install all your programs as normal, but when you install iLife and Garageband and Final Cut Studio, take advantage of a feature in their installers; you can TARGET A DIFFERENT DISK to store you LOOPS and SUPPORT FILES ON. (That's why we name the 2nd partition "Support Files and Loops".) This installs the proper paths into the source of the applications.
After all installs are complete, create a Network Boot Image from the First Parition ("Macintosh HD").
Now, this won't have ANY support files in it. So it will be smaller. We got ours down to around 17GB. NETBOOT the lab, partition each client machine (press CMD-D at the Netboot dialog to launch disk utility), and then install the Previous Image on the First Partition.
When that's done you'll have a lab full of FCP waiting to find its "Support Files and Loops".
    That's the hard part.
I tried using ARD to move out the 55GB to each client machine.
It works well going to one locked machine at a time. Using a Firewire drive with the 55GB on it connected to the ARD control machine, you can simply control a client and drag the files from the FW Drive on the control machine to Partition on the client machine. It took about an hour for each client and trying to do more than one at a time made the process freak out.
I am trying to use the COPY ITEMS command but the MULTICASTING is wrecking our IP telephones.
I tried to schedule it for the middle of the night and it worked the first time for 4 computers at once. But last night I tried 12 at once and almost all failed out. After I Controlled a couple who had stalled the process started up again and then with only ONE client machine being copied, the **** thing multicasted and I found out later that it squeezed out a bunch of administrator's phones again!!! Ugh. Now I look wreckless! (The reason I am on this board is to find out how to NOT Multicast.)
The solution we found was to use sneakernet in the form of student workers and firewire drives, making local, individual copies to the client machines.
If anyone knows how to turn of Multicast in ARD, please let me know. As for the topic of this thread, FCS certainly CAN be installed, but the Support Files and Loops are the challenge.
    Good luck.

  • Music technology lab set-up

Hello. I teach a high school music technology class, and use ARD to watch my students work, but what I really wish is that I could listen to what they are doing as well. Our lab has 15 student stations with iMacs, connected to Digidesign MBox2 Pro interfaces.
I am thinking about getting a pair of Alesis Multimix8 line mixers and running TRS cables out of the second headphone jack on the MBox2 Pro. I'd then connet to the line mixers using insert cable snakes so that I would have a stereo signal to hear.
Anyone know of an easier way?

ARD cannot transmit sound, so I doubt this would be forum that you'd want to post your question in since it's not really ARD related.

  • Help Setting Up A Cisco Lab For IOS Upgrade?

    Hi.
I've collected quite a few routers and switches over the past few months that have what seems to be corrupted or no IOS. I have a small lab set up to test parts, and I was wondering how I can network them in such a way where I have an active functional network (for testing purposes, not for actual internet use), that I can connect routers or switches to and upgrade or change the IOS version.
I have all the hardware and cabling needed, and I have the Cisco IOS software for the routers I need, I've just never upgraded or changed an IOS on a router or switch before.
    I have:
a Cisco 7505 with an RSP4+, 256MB RAM, 16MB Flash, and it's full of the modules that hold the PA cards (I forget what it's called, but I just use it to throw PA cards in to test 8 at a time).
A Cisco 3450 (I believe, 3400 series anyhow) that I believe is 64/16, that again I use for testing.
    Two Cisco 2621 64/16, for testing WIC's, VWIC's and NM's.
Two Cisco 2950 series switches, one I'd like to use to actually connect to my LAN already implimented seperatly, and one to connect to this mini lab LAN.
So again, I'm wondering how I can set these up on a small LAN just for testing purposes and so I can just connect a device and upgrade it's IOS. I also need information about the TFTP server and all of that as I haven't been able to find out much info on it.
Thanks in advance for any help :).

    Hi
First of all make sure that the flash is enough for IOS you are loading. Here is guide for loading IOS.
(1)Download and install tftp server from www.solarwinds.net
(2)Give IP on ethernet port of router
(3)Give IP on computer which should be in same subnet that of router
    (4)Follow the following steps:
    Router#copy tftp: flash:
Address or name of remote host []? 192.168.1.67
    Source filename []? c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-15.T9.bin
    Destination filename [c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-15.T9.bin]?
    Accessing tftp://192.168.1.67/c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-15.T9.bin...
    Erase flash: before copying? [confirm]
Erasing the flash filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]
    Erasing device... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ...erased
    Erase of flash: complete
    Loading c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-15.T9.bin from 192.168.1.67 (via FastEthernet0): !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    [OK - 9190488/18380800 bytes]
    Verifying checksum... OK (0xF7C5)
    9190488 bytes copied in 129.664 secs (71244 bytes/sec)
(5)Reboot and your new IOS is ready.

  • Why can one spot colour convert into two different sets of CMYK values?

Working within Illustrator CC, I have an EPS file of a logo which has a colour fill value of:
    Pantone 152 U
    CMYK: 0C 51M 100Y 1K
When I copy and paste this into a new document I get a much duller colour (orange) with colour values of:
    Pantone 152 U
    CMYK: 2C 57M 83Y 2K
I have enabled 'ask when opening' & 'ask when pasting' for Profile Mismatches in Edit->Color Settings->'Color Management Policies' - no warning shows up.
I have also tried turning off, changing color management policies.
I've opened the original eps file and assigned my working space profile (Coated FOGRA39) and then try copy and pasting without success.
    Help!

In addition to John's useful comments:
Using Pantone 512U (uncoated) isn't correct for Coated Fogra.
Why can one spot color convert into two different CMYK sets if converted by the user?
Assumed, the one spot color is uniquely defined by one Lab set:
    – the CMYK spaces are different
    – the CMYK spaces are the same but the Rendering Intents are different
    – the CMYK spaces are the same but the Black Point Compensations are different
(on or off for Relative Colorimetric).
Assumed, the spot colors are equal by name, but valid for different versions, both in Lab:
    – this obviousl at present the most common source of deviations.
Assumed, the spot colors are defined by CMYK:
    – a chaotic situation which I wouldn't even like to dicuss.
    – CMYK to CMYK conversions should be avoided under all circumstances.
    The solutions:
If the spot color will be printed always and everywhere by Pantone spot ink:
    – purchase an actual Pantone color fan und discuss with the printer the mixture for the selected ink.
If the Pantone color is merely a design feature, but the doc will be printed by CMYK:
    – choose such a color and verify by soft proofing that the color is in-gamut for common CMYK spaces.
    – read the Lab values and proceed as far as possible using Lab.
    – don't use ink names, don't use any reference to Pantone.
    – convert into to a specificic CMYK space in advance to the generation of the specific PDF.
    Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann

  • AU Lab will not send output to Focusrite Saffire 6 USB - Suggestions?

    Macbook Air 13" (2012)
AU Lab will not route audio to Saffire 6. I'm creating an EQ for the overall audio on my Mac - if I set to output through internal speakers, it works perfectly - but if output is set to Saffire 6, AU Lab won't even recognise an input from Soundflower, let alone send an output to the interface.
    Ideas?

Hey all, first I am SOOO glad I found this as I was going nuts trying to figure this out.. The post from addressler is totally correct, however I just wanted to chime in that if you are using ARC 2 room correction plugin within AU Lab, you should not forget to change your DAW input/output to "Soundflower (2ch)" as well so your mixes are going through the plugin, but bouncing of your audio is not being affected. I am using AU Lab to listen to music, produce music in my DAW and correct my room acoustics so this is important.
Additionally, and perhaps this is an anomaly on my system, but I noticed that I had duplicate (slightly delayed) audio playing causing some phasing issues on playback when using soundflower. I fixed this by leaving all routing the same, but simply quitting Soundflower. I know it sounds crazy, but I quit soundflower and still have my Preferences audio ouput, Au Lab input, and DAW (Logic Pro 9) input AND output set to Soundflower (2 ch) and it works like a charm.
I have AU Lab set to open on startup. Only thing to remember is that when it comes time to track or use your interface to record into the DAW, you must switch the DAW input/output to Saffire (or interface of choice), otherwise your interface is merely your playback device (Soundcard) and does not offer any preamp input options.
    Hope this helps someone!

  • Home Lab - Picking a server

Go with a refurbished Dell Optiplex 780 minitower. They are quiet, energy-efficient, inexpensive and can easily accommodate 16GB of memory, a Q9650 quad core CPU and four hard drives with on-board RAID-1 in-hardware support.

A mid-level workstation would be fine and would probably be more suitable in an environment where you might want to sleep at night. A rack server would be better suited to an environment where you can put it far away from any living quarters. Or you can build a custom box which works fairly well, particularly with Hyper-V or with vSphere 6.0.Otherwise check out these previous posts:Home Network Lab... • Need help setting up CS6 to run under a managed account on 10.8

I'm desperately trying to get my computer labs set up for the new school and have been unable to get CS6 applications to run under a managed account on OS X 10.8.
No matter how I try to allow access, I get an error relating to one of the following applications:
    - adobe_licutil
    - CS6Service Manager
    - dynamiclinkmanager
I have a class that needs to use Illustrator on Wednesday and I can't figure out a way to allow the students to open the software.
Any help / advice / idea would be greatly appreciated.

Well, as I said in a previous input (check the list on the forum again), it took second level Adobe support to say that CS6 would run with Mountain Lion on Managed accounts, but not on Snow Leopard.
Possibly from lack of knowledge, I haven’t been able to use Workplace Manager from my Snow Leopard Server to manage the users, which is why I am using Parental Controls.
The list of apps (sub-apps?) that you gave are the same ones I had as issues before I purged Parental Controls.
If you have to use Parental Controls, you will only be able to get a few units ready by next Wednesday.
P.S.  I got the same crap from Adobe chat.  It took raising a commotion to get Second Level support and that I would have to go to Mountain Lion.  And I didn’t need to go to 10.8.1 before it worked OK.

  • AU Lab; output garbled

The documentation for Netreceive and Netsend in AU Lab seems to be lacking. The sending machine is a Cube running Soundflower to create an audio device. Receiving is a duo core Mini using Jack to redirect the net audio to Nicecast. The result is garbled and totally worthless. My first thought was a bitrate mismatch, so I checked the settings everywhere I could think of. What could I be missing?
