Label problem in Forms 6i

Hi everyone,
We converted Form 4.5 to Forms 6 using the converting utility provided by oracle.
When we run the forms the boilertext on few forms were disappreared. We digged around a little and found that it was happening if you use no_hide option while using call_form/open form build it. We can change the no_hide to hide for this problem to disappear but it may not be acceptable to the user as this solution hide the calling form when the called form is on the screen.
Any ideas why the lables were disapprearing and any solutions.

Try delete the current label and manually create one.
This problem happened when you drag the default label to the side of your field.

Hi ,
For this, in the layout part of the form you must define 8 content area into the master page .
Then for each record of your internal table on pagination tab you must set to go to next content area at end of record.
I'll do it for a QM forms and it works
There's a sample of this solution in SAP, have a look at QM_SAMPLE_LABEL1.

Kernel Label problem for SOL MAN 4.0

Hi
When was installing a Unicode SolMan 4.0 on Win 2003 SQL server 2005.
I have downloaded a following CD for Kernel -
51031778_11 NW 2004s SR1 UC-Kernel 7.00 Windows Server on IA32 32bit
When I give the LABEL.ASC for kernel, it does not accept it and give me following error -
You entered: E:/nw04s/kernel/DVD_NW_2004s_SR1_Kernel_Windows__LNX_X86/LABEL.ASC
Found the label SAP:AKK:700:DVD_KERNEL:SAP Kernel 700:D51031778 but need label
SAP:AKK:700:KERNEL:.WINDOWS_I386:
I tried all these option from the below link, but it did not work
Kernel Label problem...
Does any one have solution for that?

I have downloaded the Kernel file 51031778_3 NW 2004s SR1 Kernel 7.00 Windows Server on IA32 32bit today. I will try to fix the problem by using this kernel.
I also got reply from Sap that solution for this issue is:
This is most unusual. Due to the currently running RampUp the
DVD's could have been updated.
I suggest that you try the following,
Download both the Unicode and NonUnicode Kernel files from the
SAP Service Market Place.
The Kernel DVD 51031778 contains the Kernel for Unicode and for Non-
Unicode, as you wrote, in directory "", label:
"SAP:AKK:700:KERNEL::WINDOWS_X86_64:"
Please check if you start Unicode Installation. Due to an incorrect
procedure sapinst requireds both Kernel-CD.
With the next release will be it correct. If you start a Unicode
installation it will be a unicode.

What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).

Role Based Access problem in forms

This would be a long reading.
I'm having a problem with forms Role Based Access.
We have two databases, one in London and one in Zurich. We have installed
application server and oracle forms on London database. We have implemented
Role Based Access to forms. For this we have created a database role (say ZUR_USER)
in both databases. The view FRM50_ENABLED_ROLES which is used by forms role based access control
is also created in both databases with a 'grant select to public'.
Our form system has a menu and forms under that menu. Both menu and the underlying forms have been
assigned Menu Security/Item Roles to the above mentioned ZUR_USER role and the role is assigned
to various users.
Now a Zurich user is trying to login to Zurich database using the URL for forms installation
in London server. He can login successfully and can see the menu heading in the main screen but
when he clicks the menu he doesn't see the underlying forms list.
When we try the same user id and database from London (using the same URL) we see all the forms.
Any idea what are we missing. The Menu Security is setup at menu level as well as the form level under
that menu. User can see the menu but not the form under that menu from Zurich. No such problem while
login from London.

I'm using the Forms 10g
and yes the only difference is between login from Zurich and London.
Problem definitely is due to Role Based Access setup.
The user in Zurich can see the Menu but not the items under that menu.
I have set the security set up at both menu and menu item(i.e. form name) level.

Problem in Forms...in 11i

Hi All,
i have created a form, and uploaded to respective directory. From apps menu it is calling the form and working fine, but the foreground colour is black...
So if i highlighted the field then i can see the field value; otherwise full text field is black.
Do i need to set any thing?
If I run from directly from form6i, it is showing perfectly fine.

Problem in form based authentication

Hi,
I am encountering some problem in form based authentication.
When I try to login for the first time. It reoute me to the image
directory and not to the request page.
When I try it for the second time, it shows
"Form based authentication failed. Could not find session."
And it always show this message no matter how many time I try.
I am not sure is it something that I did not set ...

How to localize labels in customized forms in SCSM?

when customizing SCSM forms I add label controls with the Authoring Tool. This results in a XML like this:

The content of the label is hard coded within the XML and therefore is always the same, independently from the chosen language of the console.
The question is: How can I refer/bind the Content property to a DisplayString from the LanguagePacks section of the Management Pack?
I tried something like this in my Management Pack:
Defined a FormStrings section:

Defined a new binding to the form string (googled from different souces):

I have no proof otherwise, but I don't believe it is possible to localize a value from within a form extension.
Label localization uses a RelativeSource binding.

The <NewBinding> and <PropertyBindingChange> capability is a feature of the SCSM console framework and, as far as I can tell looking in the code, it doesn't support the creation of a RelativeSource binding.
By the way, you're not the only one to have asked this question..a couple people have asked in the forums in the past, but I never saw an answer. In fact, the only other references I can find to localizing labels and such revolves around custom forms or
correctly applying label values to copies of existing forms (but not applying values to new labels).
Hopefully I'm wrong and it can be done, but I personally don't know how.
An admittedly complicated work-around, however, would be to create your own custom XAML control and add it to your form..then you could use the relative source binding on the labels. But creating a custom control requires some experience with Visual
Studio and C#.

DB Link problem on form/report 6i

I have an problem on form 6i with DB Link , that When I have view Using the DB Link and want to use the view on form6i or report 6i, the report not work when call the run file but work through the builder and also on the form not work (Form/ Report 6i With Oracle 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production)

we have both 6i forms for client server for Linux and Sparc and the same forms ported (a year ago) to iAS/iDS 10g R2 just to be able to support the same application when 6i becomes obsolete. The issue of trying/asking/investigating if 6i works or will be certified against 11g or not, is simply to find out if we can support our application on the client/server side when the end users want to move to the new database server version/s. As you know the runtime for the client/server version of 6i is free. But we can not simply recommend our end users to start using 11g db server yet, given that 10gR2 forms are not yet certified against 11g yet. Thank you for your comments not only for this posting but on Forms forum though, I always find them very helpful when making educated decisions. Also knowing that you are a unix person makes your comments more valueable for me, personally.

Do you need the image to be a part of the file (ie, embedded on the page), or just as an attachment to it? The latter is easily done, the former not so much.
Either way it requires that the file be used in either Acrobat or Reader XI, though.

Std layout was given by SAP. If you do not want to print the form in the layout given by SAP, select Customer Layout and enter the name of the layout created by you. You can create your own layout through transaction SE71.
Name of the Layout Set .......................... Script name
Name of Annexure Form.........................Script name
Name of 12BA Form...............................Script name
Name of 16AA Form..............................Script name
These scripts are created by Tech people based on our req....

Extension of Knowledge Class - Breaks the String Displays (Labels) on Knowledge Form

A strange issue - hopefully others have encountered this and not just me:
I'm in the process of adding an additional custom DatePicker to the Knowledge Form (KnowledgeMainForm).
When the Knowledge Class (System.Knowledge.Article) is extended, and a new custom property is created - it breaks the
default binding for all the Form's labels (Title, Description, Comments etc).
The normal behaviour is that the default Labels on a form initially appear as:
[Title:],
which then dynamically update to Title: - without the '[]' brackets.
In my case, these fields remain with the '[]' brackets - see img below:

This only occurs when a new property is created in the Knowledge Class (string, datepicker, boolean, anything).
Scenario:
- Create new MP to host Knowledge Article (KA) Class extension in Authoring Tool
- Extend the KA class (System.Knowledge.Article / Knowledge Article) to that new MP
- Save new MP
- Create new property in new MP
- Save new MP and Seal MP
- Upload Sealed MP into SCSM 2012
I've been able to replicate this in 3 different instances of SCSM 2012

Looks like you've found a legit form design bug in the KA form. I'm just guessing here, but I suspect that the form strings builder is choking on the extended class name.
Report it in connect
so we can <strike>blackmail</strike> ask the product team to try to get it fixed.

Hindi font problem in forms

My aplication requires text input in hindi font by implemneting PJC.The pjc is working fine but the text box is not picking correct font from aplication server.I have deployed form on 9i AS.

Am i missing any steps to use unicode fonts in my app....or this is very common problem of forms and unicode fonts....or do i have to register the fonts in any other config files?
One more info regarding fonts is required.....from where forms load the list of fonts in item property pallete and in layout font selection dropdown...? Since i m not getting same fonts in both the lists.

Looks like the problem is that you are missing the "label"
attribute for those FormItems that come after the Name item. You
have "ID" instead of label.

Font problem in Forms 10g

We are upgrading an application(forms and reports) from 6i to 10g. We are testing the application from 10gDev. Suite. The forms in 6i contains certain fonts like Arial Narrow (Western),Wingdings (Western),Arial(Western),Terminal,Tahoma,Fixedsys,Times New Roman (Western). When the form is ran from web, the fonts are not coming up correctly (font in layout is different from web version).
I followed the forums here and added the font mapping in registry.dat, but still the fonts are not coming up correctly in web. Can some one help me how to configure the fonts in 10gDS?

Our application too uses wingdings font as a label on button. Its displaying boxes and workarounds in metalink notes Note:243034.1 and Note:454102.1 are not bearing fruits. Does anyone have solution.
One alternative is to make the buttons iconic and create ico/gif file for the character placed as label, but the fact that our application has hundreds of forms is a matter of concern.
If anyone knows the exact solution to this problem, pls help out.
