Labeling data points on a 3D scatter

Hi,
Is it possible to label data points on a 3D scatter graph? I am trying to analyze some hansen solubility data (3D data that represents relative solubility) and it would be helpful to label each data point so that I know which chemical it represents.
Additionally, once I've got this display where I want it, ideally id want to superimpose a sphere into the space so that some points are enclosed while others are included. Is this possible on a single graph?
I've attached the simple VI I have so far.
Thanks!

Hi NGKai,
I did some research and I try some test by my own and as far I know there is no way to label data points on a 3D scatter graph, that is why the graph has the color scale on it.
Acording to the other question "deally id want to superimpose a sphere into the space so that some points are enclosed while others are included." there is a way to do it and is creating a multiple 3D plots in the same graph, please take a look into this files:

    I need to create a Scatter Chart, with a text label for each data point instead of the xy coordinates. A legend will no longer be necessary.Also, I want to draw "cross-hair" lines on both the x and y axes centered on one particular data point.Any ideas?

    Hi
    I have the same problem here, did you find any solutions.
    Here we are ok if the dimension is displayed in the scatter instead of the measurements but the only options i founds was "Show data" and that option displays the values of the xy.
    pls let me know if anybody found any solution for this problem

  • Labeling Data Points

    If I have a graph, how do I apply labels to each of my points of data?
    Example:

    Unfortunately, this behavior is much like Excel's behavior. Only the value can be shown, not the label.

  • How to delete the Data Points label with a crosstab layout

    Hi, just a question.
    I created a report which uses a crosstab layout; so...I have the Company Name on the left, Status Code above and the Count(tickets) as Data Points.
    As soon as I put the Count(tickets) inside the report, the label "Data Points: Incident Id Count appears above just at the bottom of the Status Code
    Is there a way to avoid this tedious label ?
    As workaround, I changed the Data Points' format heading (text and background) in such a way to see only a Grey space...but this is not so useful (from the customer side...)
    I also looked for inside the crosstab layout properties...but I didn't found nothing.....
    Any help will be appreciate
    Alex

    Well, I think you are out of luck. You are basically saying you want to control when you have a column heading and when you don't want to have a column heading. Most of us users do want column headings in our reports. In fact I have a hard time trying to figure out why you don't want a column heading. How are the report users going to know what the numbers in the column mean if you don't have a heading on the column? Maybe the initial users of the report know, but what happens when they leave and someone else takes over their duties? I would suggest putting in an enhancement request for Discoverer to give you the option to not display a column heading, if you really want something like this. This needs to be at the workbook level, I am thinking.

  • How to show data value labels in the charts without moving my mouse on the data point?

    Sometimes I need to show a chart with data value labels which is not necessary to move my mouse on the data points. However, it seems Xcelsius does not support this simple feature. Any alternative ways?
    Many thanks!

    Currently, Xcelsius does not support display of labels at data points. It would be difficult to move and update labels on a chart with dynamically updated data. However, a work around for a static chart would be to add a Label component in the desired location. This can be done for multiple static charts by using dynamic visibility.

  • Showing one data point on a line chart - X-axis label placed away from its actual position

    Hi Guys,
         In line chart, i used CircleItemRenderer to show single data point. It shows correctly if it is single data point. But the x-axis label placed away from its actual position. Right now it displayed left most position where the line chart starts. I need to move that label straight of that datapoint where it plotted.  Please see the screen shot attached with this post.
    In screen shot, x-axis label "Jan" displayed in left most position.
         And how can we show the datatip for single datapoint. At present, we can't able to see the datatips also with single datapoint.
         Can any body help me to fix those two issues.

    I figured out a way to customize a single datapoint in a line series.  The solution is at this link:

  • Highlighting a single data point in a scatter plot - Numbers'09

    Is there a way to highlight a single data point on a scatter plot in Numbers'09 (or point to it using a line from each respective coordinate on the x & y axis).
    I don't think it matters but the data point i am looking to highlight is the [highest y value/2]... and of course its respective x coordinate once you plug the y value into the equation ( y = f(x) ) and solve for x.

    Here is my own tip :
    As you see, I use two sets of values.
    In the second one I define only the yValue of the data point which must be "highlighted".

  • Designate data points in scatter plots

    Hey,
    I`ve made a correspondence analysis in excel and want to get a scatter plot as .eps-file.
    I`ve imported the X and Y values in Illustrator and created a scatter plot. Now I would like
    to represent the numbers of data points (like in the illustration below). Is this even possible?
    If so, how? Various tutorials didnt help.
    Thanks for the help!

    That's possible. See http://www.m-server.de/m_g/Scatter%20graph-cs5.ai.zip

  • Deleting specific data points from a scatter graph

    I cannot seem to figure out how to delete single points in a scatter plot to get rid of the outliers. Someone help me!

    I have never used Numbers.
    Can't you just delete the data on the source?
    The PhD research scientist in me makes me ask you if you are justified in deleting any data points? Even apparent outliers may represent a true data sample. Likewise, how do you know one of the "good" points isn't an aberrant sample that really belongs at an extreme? I would take care of outliers by reanalyzing the sample many times until I averaged it into submission. The only outliers I would outright delete were ones where I could truly question the quality of the analysis based on other data, or it it was truly impossible (e.g., a negative number of apples growing on a tree).
    One thing I would do would be make a scatter plot with one set of data and generate my line through it, then generate a second plot on the same page with the outlier data but not plot a line through it. The line would show the relationship I thought really applied but I was also up front about data I had rejected and still presented it for all to see.

  • Connect data points on scatter graph

    I currently have a scatter graph to represent the cross section of a creek. I want to connect the data points so that it looks like a line graph.

    Type 'format scatter charts' (without the quotes) in the search box.

  • How can I connect dots across missing data points in a line chart?

    Hi all!
    I have a table in Numbers that I update every few days with a new value for the current date (in this case body metrics like weight, etc.), which looks something like this:
    Column 1              Column 2      Column 3
    Aug 16, 2011         87.1             15.4
    Aug 17, 2011         86.6
    Aug 18, 2011         86.1
    Aug 19, 2011
    Aug 20, 2011         85.7             14.6
    Aug 21, 2011         85.3
    Every once in a while there will be a missing value for a given date (because I didn't take a reading on that day). When I plot each column against the date on a line chart, there is a gap where there are missing data points. The line does not connect "across" missing data points. Is there a way to make the line connect across missing data points?
    Thanks for any help. This thing has been driving me nuts!

    Leave your nuts in peace.
    Don't use line charts but scatter charts.
    These ones are able to do the trick.
    Of course to do that you must study a bit of Numbers User Guide.
    In column D of the Main table, the formula is :
    =IF(ISBLANK($B),99999,ROW())
    In column E of the Main table, the formula is :
    =IF(ISBLANK($C),99999,ROW())
    Now I describe the table charter.
    In column A, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(DAY(OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,SMALL(Main :: $D,ROW())-1,0)),"")
    In column B,the formula is :
    =IFERROR(OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,SMALL(Main :: $D,ROW())-1,1),"")
    In column C, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(DAY(OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,SMALL(Main :: $E,ROW())-1,0)),"")
    In column D, the formula is :
    =IFERROR(OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,SMALL(Main :: $E,ROW())-1,2),"")
    In this table, select the range A1 … D5
    and ask for a Scatter chart.
    You will get what you need.
    I asked that points are joined by curves
    I just edited the parameters of Xaxis and Yaxis to get a cleaner look.
    I repeat one more time that knowing what is written in the User Guides is useful to be able to solve problems with no obvious answer.

  • Crystal Reports - Charts - Restricting the data points on the X-axis

    Hi,
    Is there a way to restrict the number of points to display on the x-axis of a crystal chart keeping the number of data points the same.
    For example, if the chart plots date vs value points and the data for the chart is from 1980 to 2009. This means the data points on the x-axis appear very close to each other.
    I need a way to show the chart with all data from 1980 to 2009 but limited x-axis labels. Is there a way to configure the number of labels to show on the x-axis.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answer.
    "Right click on one of the x axis labels and select Group (X) Axis Options...
    On the Layout tab there is an option to Skip Group Labels, check this and enter in the number of labels you want to skip". Is there a way to do this from a .NET client or via a formula field in Crystal itself. The data points is going to be dynamic, hence the requirement is to dynamically configure the "number of labels" to be skipped.
    Thanks.

  • How to include the 1st data point date time in x

    Hi,
    I use a formular in the Interval from "Axis range and interval"
    =IIF(COUNT(Fields!Date_Reading.value, "DataSet1") <=48 ,1 , 12)
    However, it always missed the 1st data point date/time, please advise on how to include it always ... !
    Thanks !

    Hi kkcci8888,
    Per my understanding that when you using the expression in the Interval you can't see the first date display in the label, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by the setting of the Interval. I assumed the 1st data point date time which haven't display means the minimum date in the report.
    If you have specify an kind of "Interval Type", the first date not display as the label, if you keep the "Interval Type" as "Default", you will get it display correctly.
    I recommend you to do the setting as below to get it display correctly:
    Go to Horizontal Axis Properties
    In Axis Options, Select the Axis Type as Scalar.
    Deselect "Always include zero".
    In Minimum box type [First(Sale_Date)]
    note: make sure you have use the order by Sale_Date in the query to order the date already.
    keep the "Interval Type" as "Default", the default means "Days", try to modify the expression to specify an new value of the Interval and the type will be "Days" by default.
    Click "Labels" on the left pane to check you  haven't select the "Hide first and last labels along with this axis":
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Paste Data Point to Power Point

    Is there a way to force the "paste data point" area to conform only to the size (auto-size if you will) of the power point slide? I am pasting a data point from Excel and it always carries the data columns way off the screen, making the process of alignment very work-intensive. Thoughts or workarounds?
    I tried using the Power Point "Group" function, and then resizing the group. This works, however, you cannot retrieve after grouping the data points. :(

    As I see you are using LV in a wrong way. Why don't you run the DAQ tasks in independent while loops? You could use the same Queue, and you can add time stamps to every data package (or also a label to show the source) created in the several Producer loops. In your single Consumer loop you can just decide what to do with the data depending on the label (save to File,etc...).
    Other big problem: do not use DAQ Assistant! It is OK for quick testing, but not for real application! These Express VIs initializes and closes your hardware at EVERY while loop iteration.
    You should use proper DAQmx VIs: initialize your HW resources BEFORE the while loop, do your DAQ inside the loop, and close HW components when you stop the application.
    There are many examples shipped with LabVIEW, have a look how to use DAQmx VIs. Also, this way you avoid the silly dynamic data wires...Much easier to live with Double arrays

  • Time display on x-axis for front panel instead of data points

    What do I need to change or add in my block diagram so that on the waveform graph the time will be on the x-axis instead of the data points. I am running this VI on a pda for some testing and I would rather get the time on the horizontal axis. Im also using an NI USB-6008, windows xp and Labview 8.2

    And since you are sending it an array of doubles rather than an array of waveforms, there is no timin information associated with it.  It will assume 1 sample per second.  If your acquisition is faster than that, you will need to set the dT of the graph or the scaling multiplier factor of the X scale of that graph.
    (PS, it is always a good programming practice to show the labels for all the terminals on your block diagram and assign the terminal a name.)
