Labeling files

In the cloud, can I label files with for example color coding? In the team we want to be able to recognize when an image is processed by the photographer without changing the file name, because it breaks the link to the indesign file.

naff? :-)

Thanks Applematt9812, that works great. I never saw that before. It lets you group pictures under the Albums tab nicely.
But, unfortunately, it doesn't fix the names of the groups that get created under the Events tab when you load pictures from a camera card. If that was editable it would help.

  • Opening appleworks label file in new imac,

My christmas card labels were created in appleworks labels, now there is no way to open the cwk label file in my new imac. I don't have access to my appleworks in my old computer, can someone help!!!

    Hi hcz,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Appleworks forum.
Your labels will be in an AppleWorks 6 database file, a file format that can be opened only by AppleWorks 6. There are a couple of routes open to you:
    1.
Get a new AppleWorks 6 installation disk and install the application from that.
Cautions: The installer on the disk must be the OS X version. Early versions of AppleWorks 6 contained both the Classic and OS X versions of AppleWorks, but the installer ran only in OS 9 and earlier. Hardcore Mac had installation disks for AppleWorks 6.2.4, with a Mac OS X installer application when I last checked.
    2.
Find someone who has AppleWorks 6 installed, and get the labels printed (to labels or to a pdf file, from which you can print) and/or get the file converted to a format which you can open with your current spreadsheet program. Suggested formats would be tab delimited text (.txt) or MS Excel (.xls). The text file can be opened into any text editor, then copied and pasted into pretty much any spreadsheet. Most spreadsheets will also open an Excel formatted file.
If you wish, you may send the file to me. I'll return a pdf, a text file and an excel formatted file, and trash the original. If you choose to do this, you'll find my address by clicking my name (in blue0 to the left of this message. Please place "AppleWorks Labels" in the subject line of your message.

  • How do I rate and label files in Bridge CS6?

Fulltime student and a new cloud member. Having problems with first project. I can't nor can the instructor figure out why I'm not able to rate and label files in Bridge CS6.

No clue why I didn't think about this.
Isn't that why we are here?...
But serious, I understand your wish for a big preview but not your wish for clicking, never been a fan of RSI myself
It is a long standing issue rating and labeling are not the same in all circumstances but clicking in the preview window might be a difficult wish to fulfill. There are many ways to use Bridge but if you like big previews consider this:
In the Bridge prefs advance tab select 'generate monitor sized previews' (this should create good full screen previews)
Then either select a bunch of files in the content window you want to judge or just start at the first file.
Hit space bar and full screen preview starts showing (when all files have been cached it should take very less time or real time to show good previews.
With arrow keys cycle through the files and with cmd + . or cmd + , (comma, I now realize I had it wrong in the other post) to increase or decrease ratings. All the keys are adjustable with only one hand and very close to each other. And clicking on a spot does show a 100 % preview of that part.
But as said before, so many users, so many workflows

my labeled files on my macbook pro won't stay colored

Ok, in theory you cannot lock the hard drive, so, run Disk Utlities, First Aid, Repair Hard Drive again.  It should come back with a message that all is OK.  Then run Repair Permissions.  That often returns a lot of messages that are not actually problems, just grumbling by the system.
Then try a normal restart by clicking the apple left side of the menu bar, Restart.  If you restart normally all is fine.
If not, then restart on the recovery HD again and try an Install Mac OS X and see if that succeeds this time.

  • Can't label files in bridge, and problem with starred files

I'm working with CS3 on saving raw files to jpegs, and I usually organize them by 5 starring my favorites as well as labeling them, and just in the last 2 days Bridge has been acting up and won't label the files. Also, it will 5 star them, but only about a 1/4 of them show up in the filter as being starred. Any ideas? I already checked my access, and I can read and write to them.... the only thing I can think of is that I ran a few updates a day or two ago.... help! this is getting really frustrating and slowing down my workflow...

  • Cant label files in bridge

    Hi all,
I'm on Mac Leopard and running the newest version of photoshop 5.  I've come across a bit of a glitch.  I've just downloaded some files from a DVD from a friend's camera and I can not label them in bridge.  The labels will not stick to these files with key commands or even from selecting the drop down menu. Any thoughts?
    Thank you,
    Julia

    AHA!
Yes, they are "read only".  Yet is it still possible to open the files and work on them...is the read only designation geared just to file naming/labeling?
    Thank you!

  • Finder won't color label files

I am working through a directory of files and color labeling them using finder. Some files won't take the color labels. It has nothing to do with the file format or any other permissions conflicts.

there must be some difference.  which files are they?

  • Where can I find guidance on labeling files during a check in process using DWCS6 with Subversion?

I am using DWCS6 with VisualSubversion server 2.1.9. I have been successful setting up the repository and checking in version 1.0 of my code. Now that it is time to modify code, I want to label my changes. I see the commit message box at the bottom of the CheckIn dialog. I use it for a description of the change (e.g. "Change picture of man with picture of woman.") which works for small changes or changes to one or two files but it is not practical for large change sets or complex changes. I'd like to create a label as well using a numeric versioning system.  I have not found where I can do that. Is the commit message the only option or is there a way to use labels?
I appreciate your help with this.

  • Rating Service labels file structure

    Dear anyone,
could you, please, give me an advice on where can I find the <b>structure</b> of the <b>file</b> containing <b>labels</b> for <b>rating</b> grades of content in SAP EP KMC?
    Configuration path:
    System Administration -> System Configuration -> KM -> CM -> Repository services -> <b>Rating service</b> -> Rating Values
    Location of the file:
    <i><b>\etc\rating\labels.properties</b></i>
In my system there is no such file from which I could see the structure.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards Jiri

    Hi Jiri,
if you want to change only the label names for ratings, then you have to look for the file ../<IRJ-Root>/Web-INF/deployment/pcd/com.sap.km.cm.ui.par(.bak)
Remove the bak, unrar it, and go to ../PORTAL-INF/lib.
Unrar the file "km.appl.ui.collaboration_api" and go to com\sapportals\wcm\control\collaboration.
You have to change the files RatingControl.properties and the other languages bundle files ie: RatingControl_de.properties,...
    Look for the technical names:
    <i>rateText5=Excellent
    rateText4=Good
    rateText3=Fair
    rateText2=Poor
    rateText1=Very Poor</i>
Rar everything back und restart the portal.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Labeling Files Correctly NEW USER

Do I need to use the underscore mark to connect words in file
labels in DW? For example can I call a file "Apples Bananas.html"
or does it need to be "apples_bananas.html"? If so why? Does that
apply to folders too? Is this needed for general file and folder
naming outside of DW? And finally is the lower case important?

  • HT4059 I recently lost all info on my iPad, luckily I had recently backed up on iTunes.  We I restored it my iBooks didn't bring my files.  I have the properly labeled files in the collections, just no files.  How do I get these?

I recentlyl lost all info on my iPad, luckily I had recently backed up on iTunes.  When I performed the restore, everything came accross except my iBooks pages.  I have the proper files in my collections, but the information in the files is not showing up.
How do I get this lost information back?

A backup doesn't contain any of your iTunes downloads or the contents of the Music, Videos or iBooks apps. If they are ibooks and they are still in the store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app. If they are PDFs and/or epubs from other sources then do you have copies of them anywhere e.g. are they in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library or elsewhere on your computer ?

  • Selecting files of same color label in Applescript

I am trying to write a script that will move files to a new folder based on the color label of the files.  So basically I want all files with a Red label to go to one folder, all Orange label files to go to a different folder etc.  I am having a problem figuring out how to select files by their color label.  I want this to be automated and not require any user input.  I have searched forums and even bought a couple books on Applescript but haven't been able to find my answer.
Any information would be very helpful,
    Thanks

    racinrandall wrote:
However when I move the files to the remote folders, the original file is still in the original folder.
The move command does the same thing as drag and drop
Drag a file and drop it in another partition copy the file, you must press the Command key to move the file.
But there is no command in the AppleScript Finder Dictionary to do this.
First solution : the mv command in a do shell script :
    tell application "Finder"
my moveFiles((files in folder "myfolder" whose label index is 1) as alias list, folder orangeFolder)
my moveFiles((files in folder "myfolder" whose label index is 2) as alias list, folder anotherFolder)
    end tell
    on moveFiles(tFiles, destFolder)
set tDir to quoted form of POSIX path of (destFolder as string)
          repeat with i in tFiles
                do shell script "/bin/mv -n " & (quoted form of POSIX path of i) & " " & tDir
          end repeat
    end moveFiles
-- the -n option after /bin/mv equal  (Do not overwrite an existing file and the original file will not be moved)
-- use -f option to replace an existing file
Second solution : copy, delete and empty the trash
    tell application "Finder"
          with timeout of 0 seconds
set orangeFiles to files in folder "myfolder" whose label index is 1
if orangeFiles is not {} then
duplicate orangeFiles to folder orangeFolder without replacing -- or with replacing
delete orangeFiles -- move files to trash
                      empty the trash
                end if
          end timeout
    end tell

  • AW files labelled in finder, revert to no label

Hi, I use the feature in Finder that enables me to "label" files (e.g. hot, essential, in progress etc), and tags them a certain color. If I do this with AW files, and then I reopen the file, make any changes and save it, the next time I look in the Finder window, the file has reverted to no label, and no color.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Jonathan

This script is applicable in Mac OS X 10.39 and 10.45, but a delay may need to be inserted:
    tell application "AppleWorks 6"
set the_file to file of document 1
    tell application "Finder"
set the_label to label index of the_file
    end tell
    save document 1
    delay 5
    tell application "Finder"
set label index of the_file to the_label
    end tell
    end tell
In previous versions of Mac OS X, the Finder did not display labels, and therefore the script will not run. To change a file's label in 10.28 and older, open the Classic version of Sherlock 2, search for the file, and then change the label from the Search Results window.

  • How to set Mime Type for Static Files

    Hi All,
I am working on Apex 3.2.1.00.10.
When I am trying to upload (create) a ".js" file into Static Files under Shared Components of an application; it is saving as "*text/plain*" for Mime Type. But I need Mime type to be set as "*application/x-javascript*".
Please help me to change the Mime type of .js file.
Or is there any way to upload the file directly as "*application/x-javascript*" as its Mime Type.
    Thanks in advance.
    Umesh

In IIS v4 which comes with the Windows NT4 option pack, you right click the web page you are working with, select properties, then go to the HTTP Headers tab. At the bottom there's a button labelled File Types in the MIME Map section.
    After you've clicked that, you can add the two mime types you need;
    Associated Extension MIME Type
    .jar application/x-java-jar-file
    .jnlp application/x-java-jnlp-file
I'm assuming that it is the same in W2k/IIS5.
